Amazing time

The only bad thing I got from this experience was sunburn. The staff was amazing ,entertaining and beyond hepful and entertaining. Tne rum punch was amazing and Make sure ya keep applying sunscreen because the sun hit way different down here.

Myself and 3 friends did the Tip Top catamaran yesterday. Overall it was a nice experience! The boat was nice, food was really good (cold meats, the best rice ever, coleslaw, tuna pasta, chicken nuggets, bread), music was good, the staff were great! The bus ride was about 30 minutes from the last pick up to Sosua beach. Once arrived, we had about 5 groups of people that loaded into a small boat to be taken to the catamaran. This took a fair amount of time but it wasn’t horrible. The first snorkel spot was maybe a 5 minute boat ride. Lots of fish and coral. The next spot was about a 1 minute boat ride. Same fish, some coral here as well. The snorkelling wasn’t fascinating but it was a nice way to spend some time in the water. After snorkelling was done, they opened the bar and we started cruising. They started lunch shortly after. We cruised for about 2 hours. The staff offered some fun entertainment near the end of the ride. Was it the best catamaran experience I’ve had? No. But was it worth it? Sure. We also had a cloudy day and some rain but I still enjoyed myself.

While this is not Tip Top II (Galapagos) this is the same owner/operator. Tip Top II is currently unable to accept reviews, so this is my only recourse. Do Not Book with this operator!!! They basically stole my 20k and did not provide the trip. Long story, but worth the read. I purchased this trip for my father and I as a bucket list trip for him. We were so excited to go, had our bags packed, vaccines up to date, the works. We got notification the week of our departure that the trip was cancelled due to COVID. This was obviously not in my control. No refund was offered. When I pushed to have my fully paid for trip refunded, I was told I had to rebook or lose 70% of the trip. What? Really? Now here is the issue. Unwilling to lose 70% of my trip, we tried rebooking. COVID went on much longer than the world expected and still no refund was offered. Both my dad and I are pharmacists and actually own our own independent pharmacy. It took over a year to plan and organize our original trip and have licensed professionals to be able to cover our pharmacy for the time we would be away. (This was no small feat.) As you may or may not know, pharmacies administered about 70% of COVID vaccines. I live in a community of approximately 3,500, but administered approximately 25k vaccines. We were the first in our state to have the vaccine and people traveled from all over the state to us. You can fact check it, we were recognized by NYS with an Empire Award and a visit from our Governor. Not bragging, just setting the stage that we truly are our communities health care hub. Fast forward. A lot, I mean A LOT has changed. COVID has made it nearly impossible for me to hire pharmacists to be able to reschedule this trip. It took a year the first time. This operator has now decided that too much time has passed, and will still not refund the trip. They also will not let me reschedule for a date that I get to choose. Now mind you, I paid for an upper room with a balcony and the add ons I could as this was a one in a lifetime experience for my dad and I. As an essential healthcare worker, I am so disappointed and dismayed. For the past 3 years I have worked 7 days a week to help my community. The booking company and this operator are well aware of my situation, and sadly do not care. So now, I am out 20K for the trip of a lifetime that never happened. Buyer beware. I am heartbroken, saddened and disappointed that this is how this is being handled.

My daughter and I went on a full day excursion snorkeling with Tip Top Catamaran and had a fabulous time! Ailan was a great host, all of the staff were friendly and attentive. The lunch was decent "picnic" fare, the snorkeling was beautiful and the staff helpful to snorkeling newbies! Highly recommended if you want a day trip.

The staff was top notch. Super accommodating, very friendly, entertaining and professional. Be aware you do start out with a small boat to board the catamaran for safety in active waves. You snorkel with other groups and in my experience it did seem rather crowded on our boat. By the time we got out there as the 4th shuttle boat some were disappointed the nets were taken. You do the 2 snorkel sites right away then a 3 hour sailing trip w/ free drinks after that. It was very rough seas. Do not recommend if you are sensitive or first time. We had to have a few shuttled off from sickness at first. But Alex and Staff took very good care of them during and arranged safe transportation all the way to their hotel. Very entertaining dancing and lunch was surprisingly abundant and delicious!

What a great day in Amber Cove, snorkeling in three different areas and saw fish and sea turtles. The crew was great and entertaining, food was excellent as well as the drinks. At one point in the beginning a passenger dropped her phone into the water and a crew member dove in and recovered it now that is service! Recommended if you are in Puerto Plata.

This was one of the best excursions ever! The staff was amazing and the people aboard were lots of fun. This was my first time snorkeling and the staff took time to teach me and make sure I was ok. The views were beautiful and the drinks and lunch were awesome!!! Great job! Fun, fun, fun!!!!

The Sony Pictures sequel “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” made headlines as it rolled through a succession of Florida locations in late February and early March, with reports of crews “spark(ing) buzz” filming on the A1A Highway in Fort Lauderdale, fans catching a glimpse of stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in Brickell, and traffic tie-ups in Miami.

The state has served as the primary shooting location for many memorable projects, from movies such as “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective” (1994) to the TV series “Miami Vice” (1984-1989) and “Burn Notice” (2007-2013). But these days, major Florida-set productions are more likely to resemble Apple TV+ series “Palm Royale,” which was only there long enough to do aerial shots of the Bath & Tennis Club in Palm Beach, and Netflix’s remake of “Road House,” which was filmed almost entirely in the Dominican Republic.

The reason is simple economics: since the sunset of the Sunshine State’s film and TV tax incentive in 2015, productions have gone elsewhere, most notably its neighbor to the north, Georgia, which offers a 20%-30% refundable tax credit.

“We worked very closely with a lot of industry stakeholders to research around the country and around the world as to what would make sense in terms of putting these percentages together,” says Marco Giron, chief of film and entertainment in Miami-Dade County. 

In Broward County, located in the Miami metropolitan area, producers can choose from a menu of incentives, including the Sun-Screen Program ($1.5 to $5 million county spend; 20% rebate capped at $800,000) and the High Impact Film & TV ($5 million minimum county spend; 15% rebate capped at $2 million).

“Since I’ve been here, we’ve had 12 movies that fully shot here because of the incentive program,” says Lighterman, who preceded Giron in Miami-Dade before taking the top film job in Broward in December 2021.

But movies aren’t the only yardstick of success. The film and TV industry generated a record $247 million in local expenditures in Palm Beach County in 2023, up 3% from 2022, on the strength of unscripted shows such as “Hot Yachts” (ITV/Paramount+) and the Netflix docuseries “Break Point.”  

One of the drivers of its success is the Palm Beach County Film and Television Commission’s sponsorship and development program, which encourages the production of content that promotes local tourism. To be considered for funding, shows must have distribution outside the county, reaching potential visitors. After airing on their original platforms, they become available on demand on the Palm Beaches TV channel. Projects participating in the program have included Travel Channel’s “Pets in Paradise” and PBS’ “Travels and Traditions” with Burt Wolf.

“In many cases, they wouldn’t have the budget to do these types of things, so it’s been an incredible success for us,” says Palm Beach County film commissioner Michelle Hillery.

In the case of actress of Julia Stiles’ directorial debut “Wish You Were Here,” however, the primary reason a large portion of the shoot took place in Florida was not incentives (it didn’t get any), the valuable help it received from the Palm Beach and Broward County film commissions or the connections producer Michelle Khan made shooting commercials in the state. It was, in fact, a boat.

“There’s a catamaran featured in one of the final scenes in the film that we were able to get for a relatively affordable price down there,” says Khan.
