Moran Yacht & Ship is very pleased to announce the delivery of AURORA, a 242 Ft. (74m) superyacht that was under construction at the Lurssen shipyard . With a highly skilled workforce, constant innovation, and four generations of shipbuilding experience, Lurssen has achieved something quite amazing with AURORA.

With a world-class design both inside and out by Winch Design in London, AURORA can accommodate 12 guests in 6 spacious staterooms. Originally named Project GATSBY, this custom superyacht features a full displacement hull and an interior volume larger than any comparable-sized vessel floating today.

Moran Yacht & Ship negotiated the building contract for AURORA, wrote the technical specifications, and managed the entire build process for the vessel. Our team was by the owner’s side from concept well through completion.

To make sure everyone has an enjoyable time aboard the superyacht features four zero-speed fin stabilizers to reduce the roll.

MY AURORA’s interior beckons with an elevated sense of luxury and comfort. The vast amount of interior volume is felt upon entering the yacht’s sizable main salon. Perfect for socializing, the main salon features opposing seating areas on the port and starboard sides. Forward of the main salon is formal dining for ten. The superyacht’s skylounge is the ideal spot for relaxing with an 80-inch TV, L-shaped seating and a refreshment bar. Oversized windows are found throughout the interior, providing sensational views and enriching the space with natural light.

Superyacht MY AURORA welcomes a total of 10 guests in five oversized en-suite staterooms. The luxury motor yacht’s master stateroom takes advantage of the large 28-foot (8.5m) beam to create a true sanctuary. The master suite features a seating area, king-size bed, his-and-hers en-suite bathrooms and large hull windows that fill the space with natural light. The additional staterooms include two king-bed staterooms, a queen-bed stateroom and a twin-bed stateroom.

This Nordhavn 120 features a two-tiered engine room that allows for complete access to maintain and repair all the yacht’s systems. A full tunnel runs from the engine room on the tank deck all the way to the bow thruster room. With two interior helm stations and three wing stations, the captain is able to maneuver the yacht from wherever best fits the current situation. Walkthrough

Entering the main salon from the double opening automatic doors from the aft deck, there is a convenience bar to port and a stairway leading down to lower guest deck to starboard.  Moving forward into the very spacious salon there are opposing settees/couches to port and starboard with twin coffee tables and matching settee end tables.  There is additional separate chair seating around the settees that compliment this beautiful conversation area.  Large salon windows throughout the salon makes this area feel wonderfully light and spacious.  Moving forward and to port is the dining room with large table and seating for ten.

Ample storage with large cabinets and drawers is outboard to port along with a separate buffet just forward of the dining table.  Across from the dining room and to starboard is the entry to the foyer along with the central staircase allowing easy access to all three deck levels.  Forward of the dining table on the port side is the large chef’s galley with a separate food preparation island.  On the starboard side, forward of the entry foyer, is the separate owner's stateroom lounge with comfortable seating and entertainment.  Moving forward you then enter the spacious, full beam owners' suite, furnished with abundant storage, seating, hanging locker closets along with large separate his and hers bathrooms.

Directly beneath the main deck is the lower deck with two guest staterooms aft.  One stateroom has a walk-around queen size berth and the other features twin berths.  Both staterooms have large ensuite heads and showers.  Two (2) VIP guest staterooms are forward, featuring king size berths with ensuite heads and showers. Continuing on, the crew area is forward and contains three (3) separate crew cabins along with three (3) separate heads and showers.  A crew lounge, galley and laundry complete this comfortable living area. The main access to the crew quarters is from the main deck galley stairway on the port side.  There is also easy crew access to each of the VIP staterooms through the adjoining bulkhead.

Bridge Deck

Starting from the outside aft seating area you enter the enclosed sky lounge with L-shaped seating to starboard with separate table and chairs to port.  Forward to port is the fully equipped u-shaped refreshment bar and large 80-inch television.  Moving forward along the starboard side you gain access to the pilothouse, the main control center for steering and navigation.  This area is equipped with twin helm chairs along with additional guest seating and table.  A day head is located aft.  On the port side directly behind the pilothouse guest seating is the combination captain's cabin/office. This cabin features a large walk-around berth with an ensuite  bathroom.

Upper Flybridge Deck

Starting outside and aft on this upper deck is a large hot tub/spa along with sunbathing deck cushions and seating.  Moving forward you enter the enclosed flybridge with panoramic 360- degree views. A combination galley/bar along with individual bar stool seating is located to port along with a separate L-shaped fixed settee.  All the way forward is a second helm station that duplicates the pilothouse helm and comes with another complete set of navigation equipment along with multiple helm seating.

Machinery Space/Engine Room

This area is located amidships and beneath the lower deck.  The split two-level design of this area allows easy access to much of the ship's machinery to conduct inspections and maintenance. The MTU engines along with all three (3) Onan generators are located here.

After taking her first debut cruise from Hong Kong to the Pacific North West, MY AURORA completed a 15,000-mile cruise to New York via the Panama Canal, through Caribbean and back to California.  In total, MY AURORA has logged over 30,000 nautical miles since she was launched.

MY AURORA is ABS classed and in 2018 completed her 5 year ABS special survey inspections which is valid until 2023.  The boat is maintained to an extremely high level by knowledgeable owners and experienced crew.

Art Deco-inspired superyacht Aurora delivered by Lürssen

As the 74 metre superyacht  Aurora  is delivered to her owners, her builder  Lürssen  has revealed more details of her Art Deco-inspired interior.

Styled inside and out by British studio Winch Design , Aurora  features antique artworks in the master suite and on the bridge deck. As the owner was keen to enjoy the yacht with his family, the layout includes many intimate and personal spaces.

Aurora is the smallest yacht to be launched by Lürssen since 2014 when the yard splashed the 65.99 metre  Elysian  (ex- Ester III ) and yet she still ranks among  the world’s top 200 largest superyachts .

Previously known as Project Gatsby, Aurora  was sold by  Moran Yacht & Ship  in 2014, and Sean Moran who project managed the build, explained: "The client wanted a large volume ocean-going yacht that could accommodate all of his family without them feeling on top of each other.

"Issues inevitably come up during the course of a project, but from a long track record of successful projects we have strong working knowledge of how shipyards operate. This is one of our major competitive advantages in the field of new construction, and the reason why we have such a long list of repeat clients that have built multiple projects with us."

Aurora has been built to Lloyd’s Registry standards with a beam of 13 metres and a larger interior volume than any other yacht in this size bracket. This is in part due to her full-beam skylounge, which Lürssen describes as "one of the most impressive and luxurious areas of the yacht".

The yard adds that the owner is an experienced client, but this is their first fully custom project. Managing partner Peter Lürssen added: "We are looking forward to Aurora finding her place amongst her peers as a remarkable statement in large yacht construction, based on a strong design and expert engineering skills."

The exterior design is a marked departure from the original Project Gatsby renderings, with an emphasis on curved lines and classic elements such as circular portholes and mahogany detailing.

Moran added: "There were many developments during the design phase of the build and we ended up very far from where we started. In the end, the owner wanted to go for a more classic look with some Art Deco elements and we are really excited with how she came out. Winch Design has such a talented and dedicated team and the results speak for themselves."

Aurora  features accommodation for up to 16 guests and she is powered by twin MTU 16V 4000 M63 engines that can propel her to a top speed of 18 knots.

Other superyacht projects currently under development at the German yard include the 123 metre  Project Jupiter  and the 85 metre  Areti ,  both of which are due for completion before the end of the year.
