Delta Marine motor yacht Time For Us sold

The 46.1 metre Delta Marine motor yacht Time For Us, listed for sale by Burgess, has been sold with the buyer introduced by Kevin Merrigan and Kristen Klein of Northrop & Johnson.

With exterior and interior design by Jonathan Quinn Barnett , she was built in GRP by Seattle based yard Delta Marine to ABS class and delivered in 2011 with a full refit in 2016. She features a balance of elegance and strength, form and function, performance, range and comfort. The yacht has a flared hull design with a hard chine to deflect spray and a high sheer.

MCA compliant, her interior offers luxurious accommodation for ten guests in an elegant two-toned interior consisting of five cabins including a large full beam master suite on the main deck, two doubles with king sized beds, a further double with a queen sized bed and a twin, and all have full en suite bathroom facilities.

Impressive outdoor deck spaces provide a well-balanced mix of sheltered and open areas, expansive settings and secluded corners, which are suitable for relaxation, entertaining or dining as well as other social occasions. Outdoor features include a fantastic sun deck complete with several sun loungers, a day head, bar and spa pool, a large skylounge and aft decks ideal for dining al fresco.

Time For Us is wheelchair accessible, with extra wide doors, spacious walkways and a centrally located elevator providing convenient access to all four decks from the guest area to the sun deck.

Twin 2,250hp Caterpillar engines give her a cruising speed of 16 knots, a range of 3,000 nautical miles at 12 knots and she is fitted with zero speed stabilisers.

Time For Us was asking $18,500,000 and will be renamed Pisces.

Northrop & Johnson is proud to announce the sale of the 151-foot (45.9 m) custom Delta luxury motor yacht TIME FOR US by yacht brokers Kevin Merrigan and Kristen Klein, acting on behalf of the buyer. The last listing price for TIME FOR US was $18.5 million.

Launched in 2011, the yacht has a GRP hull and superstructure. Her 30-foot, 10-inch (9.4 m) beam provides spacious interiors and her draft of nine feet (2.66m) and three beautiful teak decks offer her guests the best of on-water living.

The new owners of TIME FOR US are renaming her PISCES.

On-deck, PISCES features a sumptuous spa pool with a swim-up bar flanked by sunpads and a large, covered, alfresco lounge complemented by an outdoor TV. The bridge deck’s main draw is its beautiful outdoor dining area, boasting a magnificent round dining table. Comfortable lounge seating further aft invites guests to sit, relax, and enjoy this gracious outdoor space.

PISCES is designed to welcome up to ten guests in five staterooms, including an owner’s suite, three double staterooms, and one twin stateroom. She also features an interior elevator, providing guests with easy access to all of the yacht’s living and entertaining areas.  In addition, PISCES is outfitted with Zero Speed stabilization to ensure comfort and stability.

While Pisces is exceptionally appointed and has been very well maintained, the new owners have commissioned a comprehensive refit of her deck and interior spaces to be completed by award-winning yacht interior designers, Bonville Associates. The refit will take full advantage of the yacht’s large windows, spacious interior and on-deck entertainment areas. It will also include enhancement and upgrade of all audio-visual equipment and Internet and the addition of more toys and enhanced guest-favorite features to entice charter guests. The exterior of PISCES will be transformed by extensive refinishing and painting.

PISCES will be available for charter later this year in the Caribbean .

‘Time For Us’ is a 122.05ft  /37.2m  Custom motor yacht built in 1997 by Delta Marine and last refitted in 2013. Previously named Phaedra, her luxurious interior is designed by Claudette Bonville and her exterior styling is by Delta Design Group.

Time For Us’s interior layout sleeps up to 8 guests in 4 rooms, including a master suite, 1 VIP stateroom, 1 double cabin and 1 twin cabin. She is also capable of carrying up to 5 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience. Timeless styling, beautiful furnishings and sumptuous seating feature throughout to create an elegant and comfortable atmosphere.

Built with GRP hull and Composite superstructure, she has a cruising speed of 10 knots, a maximum speed of 17 knots and a range of 1,500nm from 28,766litre fuel tanks.

New England - TIME FOR US captain interview.

Captain Scott Ellison of the 46.1m (151ft) TIME FOR US talks to us about the yacht and what he loves about cruising her in New England

How long have you been a captain? 

I began working in yachting in 2003 and took my first captain’s job in 2013 for the same family I work for today.

What inspired you to become a captain? 

The job is incredibly multi-faceted and even more unique. What’s better than being anchored out in a quiet bay with calm water, a beautiful sunset and dolphins swimming by and you’re the only yacht around for miles to enjoy it? A captain plays a lot of roles but ultimately you are a creator of experience and I wanted the opportunity to create a space for crew and guests that was positive and rewarding for all.

Why did you choose to work on TIME FOR US?

I first started working for the TIME FOR US family as a first officer back in 2008 on their Feadship and spent a year and a half with the family. When they decided to get back into yachting in 2013 I was humbled when they contacted me to be their captain and thrilled to be working again for a great family.

What is your personal favourite feature or area of the yacht and why?

The outside deck spaces on this yacht are excellent. All of the toys are forward on the bow leaving a massive sun deck free of toys and working crew for guests to enjoy the quiet and fantastic views and the bridge deck provides great protection from the elements for outdoor dining.

How much experience do you have cruising in New England?

We have spent seven of the last eight summers cruising the greater New England area from Long Island up to Maine and the Canadian Maritimes.

What are you most looking forward to experiencing when you are there this summer?

The summer of 2020 will be unique for everyone. I really enjoy getting the boat out to quiet anchorages and finding small bays where the guests can feel alone and enjoy some peaceful solitude. This is particularly exceptional in Maine.

What is your favourite activity to create for guests on board TIME FOR US?

This is difficult to narrow down to one favorite but certainly I enjoy getting our guests to enjoy the beauty of nature. Picking a great anchorage, getting the toys out, setting up a lobster BBQ on the beach, and letting everyone be themselves. A lot of times removing the distraction of town, people and technology allows families to spend real quality time together and we’ve had families become a lot closer during the week they are on board and express their gratitude for the opportunity that being on the yacht provided for this to happen.

What is your personal favourite spot in New England and why?

I love the Penobscot Bay region of Maine for it’s quaint little towns, the hundreds of islands that can be explored, the solitude of great anchorages, and the calm and protected cruising it provides in the rare occasion of poor sea conditions. The locals are also incredibly friendly and love having us up there.

One piece of advice for what to pack for a New England charter?

While the weather is generally always pleasant and warm in July and August you will always want to pack a light sweater for the evenings as they can be cool at times, particularly if you enjoy dining outdoors, which we highly recommend. There is also a lot of opportunity for activity in New England, like bike riding or hikes so some exercise clothing is always handy.

What do you think will surprises guests the most about New England?

For those who have never explored New England by water I think they will find a nice combination of sophistication and simplicity. You can find all the great restaurants and shops that you want and not far away is beautiful nature and solitude.

What one dish typifies the New England dining experience?

Try the fantastic oysters or a New England clam bake which we all love and are quintessential New England dishes but for me it doesn't get any better than a great lobster roll! Done simply but right, a great bun and fresh lobster you just pulled out of the sea, it's a 'must-eat' for anyone visiting New England.

What advice would you give to a first-time charterer?

Get ready to have the time of your life!

What do you hope to bring to the TIME FOR US experience?

I really enjoy being involved in all aspects of the charter from start to finish and participating with all of our departments to ensure the guests are getting the experience they were anticipating. Each trip is different so learning about and adapting to each group is always a fun challenge.

Do you have any special traditions on board?

When we have families on board we like to get the kids out on the tubes and towed around the yacht while the parents shoot water balloons at them from the sun deck.

What, in your opinion, makes TIME FOR US crew so unique?

One comment we hear a lot of is that we have a fun crew that are genuinely happy and sincere in our effort to give the guests an amazing experience and this shows in our service.

One line on something that nobody knows about TIME FOR US?

Crew longevity is something we are very proud of and demonstrates not only the stability of our programme and the environment on board but also greatly improves the consistency and efficiency of our service and the experience we are able to provide to guests.

Time For Us is a custom motor yacht launched in 1997 by Delta Marine in Seattle Wa, United States and most recently refitted in 2016.

Located in Seattle, Washington, Delta Marine is a custom builder of yachts up to 100 meters in length. Delta specializes in composite construction, and works in both steel and aluminum as well. A General Description of Motor Yacht TIME FOR US

The work of the The Feadship De Vries Shipyard shipyard in the Netherlands the TIME FOR US is 52 metre 171 (ft) in length. Launched in 1994 the comparatively modern interior decoration reveals the traditional interpretations emanating from the boards of John Munford. Superyacht TIME FOR US is able to accommodate up to 12 passengers with 14 professional crew. The old, former or build project names are Rasselas; Halcyon Days. She can attain a maximum speed of 16 knots.

TIME FOR US is a steel displacement motor yacht build by Feadship in 1994 that has benefited from ongoing maintenance and an extensive refit in 2007, as well as 2008 improvements. TIME FOR US (ex- RASELLAS and HALCYON DAYS) has accommodation for up to 10 guests. She features a well appointed main saloon, dining areas and skylounge as well as roomy outdoor areas. The luxury motor yacht also has a good selection of water toys and had an impressive electrical entertainment upgrade including a state of the art Crestron entertainment system throughout.

Build & Design of Luxury Yacht TIME FOR US

De Voogt Naval Architects was the naval architecture company involved in the formal nautical design work for TIME FOR US. Also the company De Voogt Naval Architects expertly worked on this project. Interior designer John Munford was selected for the internal interior ambience. the Netherlands is the country that The Feadship De Vries Shipyard completed their new build motor yacht in. After her formal launch in 1994 in Aalsmeer the boat was passed over to the proud new owner having completed sea trials and testing. The hull was crafted from steel. The motor yacht superstructure component is fabricated largely from aluminium. With a beam of 9.3 metres / 30.5 feet TIME FOR US has spacious size. A reasonably deep draught of 3.2m (10.5ft) determines the number of harbours she can enter into, depending on their particular depth at low tide. She had refit maintenance and modification completed in 2007.

Engineering And The Speed/Range That M/Y TIME FOR US is Capable Of:

The 3512 DITA engine installed in the motor yacht is produced by CATERPILLAR. For propulsion TIME FOR US has twin screw propellers. The main engine of the ship gives 1280 horse power (or 942 kilowatts). She is equiped with 2 engines. The total output for the boat is accordingly 2560 HP or 1884 KW. As for stabalisers she uses Vosper. The bow thrusters are Holland Roer.

Apportioning space for a limit of 12 yacht guests sleeping aboard, the TIME FOR US accommodates them luxuriously. The boat uses approx 14 expert crew to manage.

This is the largest, most comprehensive yacht design and construction project in the Company’s storied and illustrious 141-year history. “TIME FOR US is a truly world-class, world-cruising motor yacht. There’s no question this magnificent yacht will give us a tremendous platform from which we can showcase our remarkable talents and skills that are available at our historic Company. A highly respected American yachtsman who plans to cruise the world extensively commissioned TIME FOR US. She will be ABS certified, fully MCA compliant and will be available to charter in various unique cruising areas of the world. After visiting many candidate shipyards around the globe for our special project, the spirited, dedicated and skilled people at Burger impressed us tremendously and made our decision easy.” TIME FOR US will have handicap accessibility featuring a four-level elevator. Tenders are positioned on the main deck level aft with opening side bulwarks and overhead gantry cranes for quick, easy deployment. The voluminous yacht will have over 6,500 sq. ft. (600 sq. meters) of interior space and almost 4,000 sq. ft. (375 sq. meters) of exterior space. She will have a 4,500 mile range and a top speed of 15.6 knots. All four guest cabins are configured as VIP suites and the interior design will be classical, elegant with use of raised-panel cherry and mahogany throughout. Delivery is scheduled for late 2006 and will further establish Burger’s commitment to the new, larger class of highly customized, distinctive, ocean-going yachts. Time For Us; Progress Report from Burger Boat Company... With the hull and superstructure well underway on the 154' (47m) Tri-deck, TIME FOR US, the latest progress report looks excellent. The highly respected team at Vripack of The Netherlands and the Burger Design Team have joined forces to create a distinctive yacht of exceptional design and quality. Vripack has developed the structural and mechanical engineering along with a striking interior design and Burger is working diligently to assist, support and bring the effort to fruition. The interior renderings by Vripack were met with overwhelming approval by the owners as well as the shipyard and are being put in motion. The timing couldn’t possibly be better with the sizable $2+ million investment that Burger recently made in high-tech, computerized joiner equipment. Easily creating complicated, artistic design elements with the new custom dual-axis CNC router, CNC support equipment, a digitizer and custom software means the possibilities are truly limitless. The raised panel Honduras mahogany interior with molded shapes and curved details throughout is destined to be nothing short of stunning. Myrtle burl inlayed pillars are intended to depict a “Neo” Classical motif that will dress the boat with elegance and beautifully frame the concave fish tank dividing the salon and dining area. Fortunately, with over 6,500 sq. ft. (600 sq. meters) of interior space and almost 4,000 sq. ft. (375 sq. meters) of exterior space there is just enough room to house a grand piano. A full-size elevator will provide accessibility to all four levels. The U.S. owners intend to charter TIME FOR US which will have full ABS certification and MCA compliance. “Our aim was to create an extraordinary explorer yacht on which guests can make the most of every minute,” Valentin Weigand of Valentin Design told Robb Report during the concept’s unveiling at the Monaco Yacht Show.

Intended for both warm and cold climates, Time not only offers underwater exploration, but also has the means to enjoy heli-skiing with an entire room dedicated to the activity, while features range from an indoor pool in the lower deck beach club to a cozy office in the owner’s suite to let owners and guests work, rest and play on their own terms.

It’s an owner’s perspective that Abeking’s sales director Till von Krause fully understands. He commutes to work at the German shipyard each morning aboard his traditional motor boat, cruising down the River Lesum before joining the larger River Weser where Abeking’s facilities are located.

“Time is a concept that allows owners to discover new worlds without forgetting old values,” von Krause says. “It’s about thinking around established solutions without fear of entering new waters.”

“Time was designed using a holistic approach, whereby the technical aspects were conceived alongside interior spaces to maximize usable volume and provide cost-efficient solutions,” Acquaviva told Robb Report . “Exploration widens the spectrum of opportunities aboard a yacht, but we set out to create a balanced compromise.”

The goal was to meld engineering elements with design features that created practical benefits for life on board. The inclusion of multiple side terraces to enlarge the yacht’s usable footprint, both in the beach club and the main salon, is one area. The certified heli-platform that transforms into an open-air entertaining space is another.

Triple-height, blacked-out windows and wraparound balconies break up the exterior flow of lines. On the inside, large glass panels create an observation lounge aft, allowing for full-height windows that frame views from all angles. An open-air cinema on the upper deck hints to family movie nights, while the crow’s nest offers the best seat on board.

The extra-wide duplex owner’s suite is a blend of soft curves and straight lines. There are two ensuites, one with a marble and wood bathtub, the other with a walk-in shower. Wool and silk carpets, tilting glass shutters and direct access to a private infinity jacuzzi bring “craftsmanship, comfort and freedom.”

“The owner’s suite is designed to bring openness and air circulation for high-quality rest,” says Weigand. The yacht also has two VIPs and four doubles, sleeping 12 guests in total.

With Time, the focus is on creating a floating refuge that gives owners the freedom to enjoy time on a seaworthy yacht.

“It was important for us to not only consider design, but to also add value, because a yacht is something to enjoy your family and friends, a place to forget about your worries and be free,” says Weigand. “That is always our intention.”

189. Yacht Rock Spectacular‪!‬ Full Cast And Crew

It's almost Memorial Day Weekend in the States and that means it's time for Yacht Rock! The term didn't exist before the 2005 web series of the same name was written, directed, and produced by J. D. Ryznar, David Lyons, Hunter D. Stair, and Lane Farnham.  You can revisit their highly specific genius here. Before that, music of the type we now refer to as 'Yacht Rock' was known as "The West Coast Sound" and that meant it had characteristics such as being recording in Los Angeles between, roughly, 1972 and 1982, or that heavy session musicians played on the tracks, tracks that often featured electric piano, lyrical tales of romantic failure and ennui, layered backing vocals, and light jazz and R&B elements.  In this episode I recount my journey from a Yacht Rock generalist, to someone who now believes there is a pure YR essence, discernible in the tracks I reference in this episode...and there are other songs considered Yacht Rock that don't really belong in the canon.  For example, by my analysis, Steely Dan and Hall & Oates: Not Yacht Rock due to a combination of not being recorded in Los Angeles and being outside the scope lyrically and compositionally. But as my friend and YR Guiding Light Rick Brown says: half the fun is debating what belongs and what doesn't. In preparing the episode I came to believe strongly in the qualitative superiority of the tracks recorded in Los Angeles. I think it's demonstrable upon hearing them.  For the sake of your ears, I prepared two Spotify Playlists: Yacht Rock: Recorded In LA And Yacht Rock: Nyacht From LA I also explore a few examples of really fun outlier tunes from unexpected sources and encourage you to suggest additional songs that do or don't fit the criteria. Bitcoin Pizza Week: Crypto Spent On 2 Yummy Pies 14 Years Ago Could Now Buy Jeff Bezos' Yacht And Elon Musk's Jet Fleet — With Spare Change!

H urray! Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC ) Pizza Week is finally here, reminding us of the time when this prized digital currency was used for the first time for commercial purposes. But do you know that the Bitcoin spent on two Papa John’s pizzas that day could purchase you ultra-luxury products owned by billionaires today? 

What Happened: An event immortalized in the cryptocurrency realm, Laszlo Hanyecz, a Florida-based programmer, disclosed on a Bitcoin Forum on May 22, 2010 that he "successfully traded" 10,000 Bitcoins for pizza.

According to the conversation on the Forum, 1 Bitcoin was worth $0.0041 on the historical day, taking the total purchase amount to $41. Seems a long time ago, isn’t it?

Why It Matters: Cut to May 2024 and Bitcoin has exploded since its early days. It is the largest digital currency in terms of market cap as of this writing, with 1 Bitcoin worth more than $67,000, according to data from Benzinga Pro .

That takes the total worth of 10,000 Bitcoins to nearly a whopping $670 million.

So, if our dear friend Laszlo had resisted using up his Bitcoin holdings to pay for Pizzas that day, he could have easily purchased Amazon.com Inc. founder Jeff Bezos ' superyacht ‘Koru .' The $500-million sailing boat made waves last year due to its humongous size and high operating costs. 

Interestingly, Hanyecz would still have been left with $170 million, more than enough to buy the entire fleet of Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk's private planes , which are valued at over $100 million.

These events help in understanding Bitcoin's stupendous growth trajectory over the last decade, making the fortunes of several of its loyal enthusiasts who stuck with the asset through the highs and lows of the market.

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Show Off Her New Engagement Ring on $500M Yacht — See Photos!

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez are showing off her new engagement ring !

The Amazon founder and the Emmy-winning journalist and helicopter pilot — who are engaged , a source confirms to PEOPLE — were photographed together over the weekend smiling on his $500 million yacht at the Cannes Film Festival.

Bezos, 59, wore a simple black shirt and pants while Sánchez, 53, opted for a white tank top with a beige skirt and was seen rocking a diamond sparkler on that finger. ( Experts estimate that it could be between 25 and 30 carats !)

The pair made an appearance at the annual film festival on Saturday for the premiere of Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon , an Apple Original Film starring Leonardo DiCaprio — and were seen at the event alongside Apple CEO Tim Cook.

Recently, the pair been spending a lot of time together on the billionaire's new yacht, which features a wooden sculpture made in the likeness of Sánchez . Attached to the ship's prow, the design includes a necklace featuring the symbol for Koru, which is Māori for loop or coil. It's based on the spiral shape of an unfurling silver fern frond — a symbol that is special to the couple.

Koru symbolizes new beginnings — which Bezos has cited before on his Instagram — and a new phase of life, positive change, personal growth, and hope for the future.

Bezos posted a photo of Koru on Instagram on New Year's Day in a slideshow of pictures from his disco party celebration.

"The new year is also a great time to take stock and focus on personal growth, renewal, rebirth, and paying careful attention to each moment of your life," he wrote at the time. "The good and the bad. All of it. Celebrate and grow."

Opening up about their life together in January, which marked her first solo interview since they couple went public with their relationship in 2019, Sánchez told WSJ. Magazine that Bezos "makes me laugh all the time" and "can be goofy." "We love to be together and we love to work together," she added. "We fly together. We work out together. We're together all the time."

They also share a commitment to philanthropy.

Echoing comments Bezos previously made to CNN about how he planned to give away most of his $124 billion fortune, Sánchez told the newspaper they put a lot of work into "strategic giving."

"You want to give money away and you want to know that it's helping people and it's going to continue to help people, and that it's going to the right places," she said. "You could give it not-strategically. You can just give it away! But, we take it seriously."

A Proclamation on National Maritime Day,   2024

     Our Nation’s merchant mariners embody the highest aspirations of our democracy, always answering our country’s call with commitment and courage.  Today, we honor their service and sacrifice.  Together, we recommit to meeting our sacred obligation to care for them and their families.

     Unbreaking and unbending in their devotion to duty, our merchant mariners have stood for our Nation’s freedom and liberty throughout history — from delivering critical goods and troops to the battlefields of World War II to responding to devastating natural disasters around the world and shipping the goods and military cargo that keep our Nation safe and prosperous.  Today, our merchant mariners are continuing this legacy of service, delivering humanitarian aid to people in need and transporting military equipment around the world.  At the same time, merchant mariners are engines of our economy.  They facilitate international trade and strengthen our supply chains by transporting billions of dollars of goods across oceans, seas, and waterways to the hands of American businesses and consumers.

     Our merchant mariners have always met the moment — and my Administration will always have their backs.  That is why we are ensuring that ships traveling between United States ports are American-built, American-owned, and American-crewed by enforcing the Jones Act.  This will not only support American shipbuilding but will also support good union jobs. Meanwhile, we have made historic investments in our Nation’s infrastructure, including rebuilding our ports so that they are safer, cleaner, and easier and more affordable to move through.

     We also recognize that our merchant mariners are strongest when they reflect the full diversity of our Nation.  My Budget proposes $191 million for the United States Merchant Marine Academy to educate and train the next generation of seagoing officers and maritime leaders.  Additionally, my Administration established Every Mariner Builds A Respectful Culture Standards to prevent sexual assault and harassment and to support survivors. 

     Today, as we honor all that merchant mariners have done for our Nation, we also recognize the mariners who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our Nation.  We owe these fallen heroes a debt of gratitude we can never fully repay.  But our Nation will never forget their legacy and that of every mariner who has dared all, risked all, and given all for our Nation.

     The Congress, by a joint resolution approved May 20, 1933, has designated May 22 of each year as “National Maritime Day” to commemorate the first transoceanic voyage by a steamship in 1819 by the S.S. Savannah.  By this resolution, the Congress has authorized and requested the President to issue annually a proclamation calling for its appropriate observance.  I also request that all ships sailing under the American flag dress ship on that day.

     NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR., President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim May 22, 2024, as National Maritime Day.  I call upon all Americans to observe this day and to celebrate the United States Merchant Marine and maritime industry with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities.

     IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twenty-first day of May, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-four, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-eighth.                                JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR.
