Azimut Atlantis 50 foot yacht interior design

A yacht is really just a luxury floating home . When you’re talking 70 feet and larger, they’re a lot nicer than my house. As you’ll see in the luxury yacht interiors below, the quality and aesthetics are simply gorgeous. And we merely feature a small handful of such boats. There are thousands and thousands of these worldwide.

Our epic yacht interiors article is split into 5 galleries:  staterooms, guest bedrooms , salons and dinettes, kitchens and bathrooms. The point of this article is to merely give you a glimpse inside these ultra expensive boats… expensive to buy, run and maintain. Be sure to also check out our yacht decks galleries .

Yacht Primary Bedrooms (Staterooms)

We kick off our yacht interiors gallery with the stateroom. When it comes to the primary bedroom on these boats, no expense is spared. They are large, comfortable and stunning in design. These bedrooms are bigger than our primary bedroom.

Yacht Guest Bedrooms (2 Beds)

Many guest bedrooms on a yacht have two beds so that it can accommodate more people. However, they are, as you’ll see below, still very, very luxurious. These are certainly cozy sleeping quarters.

Salon and Dinette Photos

My favorite room on the boat is the salon and/or dinette area. In many cases, the dinette doubles as the living room. Mega yachts have dedicated salons and dining areas. I love these superb lounge designs below in the cabin as well as the upper lounge areas.

Large yacht salon interior

I must admit that kitchens on these super yachts are fairly small. I guess the cooking is done by the staff and yacht owners prefer to have more space for bedrooms, deck space and lounge space. That makes sense given there really is limited space. Nevertheless, these kitchens are gorgeous and the yacht designers certainly didn’t skimp with respect to quality.

Most boats dedicate very little space to bathrooms. Not these. The primary bathrooms below are incredible. The smaller bathrooms are guest bathrooms. These luxury yachts are so large and spacious that even the bathrooms are both beautiful and comfortable to use.

Sailing superyacht technology has come on in leaps and bounds in recent years - we take a closer look at nine of the most stunning examples...

1. Aquarius

The brief for Aquarius included that she should be, ‘an elegant, muscular sailing yacht with a classic profile for family enjoyment.’ But that barely scratches the surface of the main requirements for this giant ketch. The owners also wanted a yacht that would combine good seakeeping characteristics with performance, reliability and quality.

Essential features included relative simplicity, robustness of systems and a contemporary interpretation of elegant, classic lines, with a clean and uncomplicated appearance. Aquarius ’s graceful lines and timeless shape belie a rugged world cruiser configured to be self-sufficient for extended periods when voyaging well beyond the popular Med and Caribbean circuits. In addition, the yacht is welcoming for family and friends, while providing sufficient performance to compete in superyacht regattas.

2. Pink Gin VI

The Baltic 175 Pink Gin may have captured most of the headlines for her sheer size and cleverly engineered topside balconies, but below decks a collection of Cuban art and some phenomenal styling demand equal attention.

Mark Tucker’s team at Design Unlimited in the UK worked closely with the yacht’s owner, Professor Hans Georg Näder, with whom they had co-operated on his previous Pink Gin , to produce an unusual exercise in interior styling.

The Baltic 142 Canova  may not be using the hydrofoils popularised by the America’s Cup , but her 29ft 6in long (9m) horizontal sliding foil employs the same principle of lift to reduce heel and boost speed. The designers of the Dynamic Stability System (DSS) say it could improve the performance of this super-cruiser by 20 per cent, delivering a sustained 25 knots – not bad for a superyacht that displaces 146 tonnes. This is the first time the DSS has been used in superyachting, but its benefits will be used for comfortable, fast long-distance cruising rather than gaining an edge on the racecourse.

With styling and interior design by Lucio Micheletti as well as the in-house team, Canova  sports a sleek, low deck saloon with a hard, fixed bimini extending over the forward cockpit area. Below, her vast deck saloon, providing panoramic views, forms the focal point of her luxury accommodation.

Unusually, the owner’s suite is located almost amidships, where motion is at its least, with further accommodation for six guests in three cabins. Other features include a Rondal rig with electric in-boom furling, a lifting keel and a propeller leg rotating through 180 degrees.

Part of the world’s largest sailing yacht series by length, Seven is hull number 3 in Perini Navi’s 60m ketch series, after Seahawk and Perseus 3 . Launched in 2017, she was feted for her groundbreaking interior lighting design throughout all five guest cabins. A powerful motor-sailer, her twin MTU engines and 47,000-litre fuel capacity mean a globe-trotting range of 3,600nm when motoring at 12 knots.

LOA: 60m (197ft) LWL: 50.4m (165ft 4in) Beam: 11.4m (37ft 4in) Draft: 4.3m-12.3m (14ft 1in – 40ft 4in) Mast height: 62.2m (204ft) Total sail area: 2,097 m2 (22,572ft2) Displacement: 575 tonnes (1,288,000 lbs) Naval architect: Ron Holland / Perini Navi Builder: Perini Navi Launched: 2017

This may be the fourth 100ft yacht designed to the Wallycento box rule, but it’s one that raises the bar with regard to combining form and functionality with outrageously cool aesthetics. Considering that Wally is yachting’s deity of style, that’s saying something.

Tango is at the very forefront of modern fast monohull design and advanced technology. Its stealthy black livery and long, low lines combine with a bold reverse sheerline to create a potent, powerful look. The ruthlessly clean deck is signature Wally. The image of the single helmsman on deck, with all that power and beauty controlled simply by the touch of a network of buttons on the pedestals, has become an icon for the Italian brand.

The owner’s brief for Ngoni would be challenging for any size of yacht: “Build me a beast. Don’t build me a sheep in wolf’s clothing. This has to be an edgy and innovative weapon; fast and furious.” When the boat in question is a giant 58m (190ft) sloop with a displacement of nearly 400 tonnes this project was always going to push hard against existing boundaries of design, deck hardware and materials technology.

“The owner wanted me to take a fresh look at large yacht design,” Dubois recalled before his untimely death four years ago. “He wanted me to go back to my roots in the late 1970s and ’80s when we were designing race boats, but he also knew we had designed a number of high-performance yachts that were nevertheless seaworthy and comfortable cruisers. So I had to reset my internal computer, if you like, and look hard at how we could save weight and add strength.

“That’s how the reverse sheer came about. I was worried he might not like it. The next time we met in London I showed him the design and he loved it – in fact he gave me a big bear hug!”

Ahimsa is a 216ft sloop-rigged aluminum yacht, designed by the late Ed Dubois. Built with a combination of innovation and advanced technical craftsmanship, Ahimsa boasts a low superstructure and deck clean. Key features include the ability to hoist her mainsail in less than two minutes and tack the boat within 30 seconds.

The 83m carbonfibre mast is the largest ever produced by Southern Spars and had to be transported to The Netherlands in two pieces. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, Ahimsa ‘s Code 1 sail is the world’s largest artwork on canvas, designed by the Norwegian artist Magne Furuholmen.

LOA: 66m (216ft 6in) Mast height: 83m (272ft 4in) Naval architect: Ed Dubois Builder: Vitters Launched: 2012

Svea , the newest addition to the now nine-strong J Class fleet, is one of the most outstanding new yachts of modern times – a harmonious meeting of historic and modern design; a blend of J Class lines and maxi grand prix yacht technology.

All Js dazzle on the water, but Svea simply stops you in your tracks. Her lines and deck are kept spectacularly clean, thanks to the compact wheelhouse, sunken wheel and wonderfully low boom.

Her dark metallic grey hull and black and red sail wardrobe lend her timeless lines a slightly menacing appearance – a purposeful racing look that belies the luxurious interior below decks. The aggressive aesthetics are in keeping with her name, a Viking word (it means Swede).

superyacht-liara-side-view-credit-breed-media

Not only is Liara a masterpiece of style, thanks to UK-based super designers Malcolm McKeon and Adam Lay combining to stunning effect, but she clearly represents a formidable amount of experience. And that all stems from the boss.

This is the fourth Liara for British serial yacht owner Tony Todd, who is now in his seventies. His initial brief was for a safe, comfortable family cruising yacht for circumnavigating the globe , hence the deep and well-protected cockpit. However, Todd has been racing yachts all his life, and once his competitive side kicked in and the odd regatta was mentioned, the speed, weight and deck layout to make this possible became critical features. The result is Liara , the definitive multi-role superyacht.

A Guide to Yacht Cabin Layout and Design

  • by yachtman

yacht inside a yacht

Yacht cabin layout and design have a huge impact on guests’ experience and comfort on board. Every detail, from furniture to materials, is thoughtfully planned. We’ll explore the complexity of yacht cabin layout and design, looking at what makes a cabin both attractive and useful.

Maximizing space usage is key in yacht cabin design. Yachts are built with limited area, so designers are creative in using every part. Built-in closets and under-bed drawers let guests store items without the cabin being cluttered.

Privacy is essential, yet the cabin should still be connected to the rest of the yacht. Frosted glass panels or sliding doors can divide sleeping areas from common areas while still letting in light and air. Soundproofing is also important for a peaceful atmosphere and quiet.

In the early 1900s, ocean liners had luxurious cabins with art, fabrics and woodwork . They set the standard for yacht designs, inspiring designers to make ever more elegant and comfortable cabins for their clients.

Importance of Yacht Cabin Layout and Design

Yacht Cabin Layout and Design play a crucial role in enhancing the overall appeal and functionality of a yacht. The arrangement and design of cabins directly impact the comfort and experience of the passengers on board. Every aspect, from the placement of furniture to the choice of materials, needs to be meticulously planned and executed to ensure a luxurious and convenient environment for the guests.

A well-designed yacht cabin layout ensures optimal utilization of space, providing ample room for movement and storage. It takes into consideration the unique requirements of each cabin, such as the number of beds, storage areas, and amenities like en-suite bathrooms. The design also incorporates ergonomic principles to maximize comfort and minimize any potential safety hazards.

Effective yacht cabin design combines aesthetics with functionality. It involves careful selection of color palettes, lighting fixtures, and decor elements to create a harmonious and welcoming atmosphere. The design should align with the overall design theme of the yacht, be it modern, classic, or minimalist, to maintain a cohesive look throughout.

Furthermore, attention to detail is crucial in the cabin layout and design process. Every element, from the positioning of electrical outlets to the arrangement of windows, needs to be considered for optimal convenience and aesthetics. The choice of materials should also be made with durability and ease of maintenance in mind, ensuring that the yacht cabins remain in pristine condition for an extended period.

In summary, it is evident that the importance of yacht cabin layout and design cannot be underestimated. A well-designed cabin layout enhances the overall experience of yacht owners and guests, providing them with a luxurious and comfortable environment to relax and enjoy their time on board.

A yacht cabin so luxurious, you’ll forget you’re on a boat… until you try to walk in a straight line.

Comfort and Luxury

Comfort and luxury are two major components of yacht cabin design. Careful planning and attention to detail ensures a cozy and luxurious environment. Furnishings, fabrics, and décor enhance the aesthetic and provide tranquility and relaxation.

Yacht cabin design focuses on comfort. Every corner is utilized to provide convenience and style. Windows allow natural light and furniture optimizes space.

Luxurious amenities, such as entertainment systems, spa-like bathrooms, and bedding, elevate the experience. High-quality materials add opulence and durability. Soft lighting and soundproofing create a peaceful haven.

Unique details include smart technology. This allows occupants to control various aspects of their surroundings. From temperature to lighting preferences, tech advances enhance comfort and convenience.

When designing a yacht cabin layout, balance functionality and aesthetics. This will create an atmosphere of refined luxury to enjoy on voyages at sea.

Maximizing Space

Designing and laying out a yacht cabin is key to making the most of the space. An effective cabin design ensures that every inch is used wisely, giving passengers comfort and practicality.

To optimize the cabin, consider:

  • Compact, multi-functional furniture.
  • Built-in shelves and hidden compartments to keep clutter away.
  • Minimizing barriers and having an open layout.
  • Proper lighting techniques to make the cabin seem larger.
  • Mirrors and glossy finishes to reflect light.
  • Strategically placing amenities and facilities.

Details such as color, material, and aesthetics also play a role in creating a sense of openness and luxury.

When it comes to yacht cabins, it’s not only about using the space efficiently, but also creating an atmosphere of relaxation and pleasure. The consideration put into the design process can turn a yacht cabin into an exclusive oasis at sea.

The importance of utilizing every space can be seen in the renowned example of “The Flying Cloud” – one of the fastest clipper ships ever built. Donald McKay designed it in 1851, using cabin layout to its full potential. This allowed him to construct a lightweight ship with minimal bulkheads, while still providing passengers with comfortable accommodations. This clever approach helped “The Flying Cloud” to beat its rivals with speed and revolutionize sailing.

Safety Considerations

Evacuation routes are critical for passenger safety. Fire suppression systems are essential to extinguish fires rapidly. Emergency lighting provides visibility in dim conditions. Security measures prevent unauthorized access to the cabin.

It is also important to consider escape hatches and life-saving equipment storage. These features improve passenger safety on board.

A yacht encountered rough seas, causing items to become projectiles. A design with secure storage prevented damage and injury. This emphasizes the importance of safety when planning a yacht cabin.

Safety is paramount when designing a yacht cabin. This ensures the well-being of passengers and reduces risks at sea.

Factors to Consider in Yacht Cabin Layout and Design

Factors to Be Considered in Designing and Arranging Yacht Cabins

Designing and arranging yacht cabins involves numerous factors that must be taken into consideration to ensure a functional and aesthetically pleasing space. Below is a table outlining some key factors that should be considered during the layout and design process:

In addition to these factors, it is essential to consider the specific needs and preferences of the yacht owner, as well as the intended use of the cabin. By carefully considering these elements, yacht designers and architects can create cabin layouts that optimize comfort, functionality, and overall enjoyment for those onboard.

In a similar vein, I recall a true story where a yacht owner wanted a cabin layout that would allow for maximum natural light, but also desired a high level of privacy. The yacht’s designers came up with a creative solution by incorporating opaque glass panels that allowed light to filter through while maintaining privacy. This innovative approach showcased the importance of considering unique requirements in yacht cabin design.

Who needs personal space when you can navigate through life like a sardine in a can on a yacht?

Size and Configuration of the Yacht

Yacht size and arrangement are key factors in their cabin layout. Dimensions and configuration influence how living spaces are organized to be more comfortable and practical.

Let’s take a look at the data:

We can see that size affects the number of cabins. Larger yachts have bigger cabins, offering more room for guests.

Configuration also plays a part: monohulls and catamarans both provide different benefits. Monohulls offer more flexibility in cabin layout, while catamarans are more stable and usually have larger cabins.

Yacht designers must keep these in mind when designing cabins. It affects the experience for guests on board.

Surprisingly, yacht cabins weren’t always this luxurious. Before the late 19th century, yachts were mainly used for racing or transportation. It was then people began to modify yachts into more comfortable living areas, leading to the cabin designs of today.

Functionality and Practicality

Functionality and practicality are key when designing yacht cabins. Every element needs to have a purpose and add to the overall functionality. From storage to seating, each component is essential for making sure the cabin meets the needs of those on board.

To understand, here’s a table:

Detail matters too. Windows for natural light, materials for durability, and ergonomic design principles all help make the cabin more functional and practical.

An example of this is a story. A designer was asked to revamp a yacht’s cabins. He looked at all aspects for functional value. Smart storage, optimized seating, and maximizing natural light all made the cabins stylishly functional and much more enjoyable.

Aesthetics and Style

Designers have long understood the value of aesthetics in yacht cabins. For example, Le Corbusier’s collaboration with luxury yacht manufacturers in the early 20th century led to visually stunning interiors. This marked a turning point in yacht cabin design, by blending aesthetics and functionality.

To achieve a beautiful and stylish yacht cabin, designers need to focus on details. This includes elements such as a color scheme, choice of materials, lighting techniques, art pieces, and furniture placement.

By taking these aspects into account, yacht cabins can become havens of beauty. They can be filled with harmonious colors that reflect the desired mood and style. High-quality materials such as leather, wood, and metal can be used for a sophisticated look. Ambient, task, and accent lighting can enhance the visual appeal and functionality of the space. Decorative elements and furniture placement can also elevate its aesthetic value.

Types of Yacht Cabin Layouts

When it comes to yacht cabin layouts, there are several options to consider. Different layouts offer different advantages and are designed to meet specific needs. Here, we will explore some popular variations:

Each layout has its own unique details and advantages. For example, the open plan layout is great for socializing and creating a sense of unity within the cabin. On the other hand, the traditional layout offers privacy and a cozy atmosphere. The convertible layout provides versatility for different activities and preferences.

Considering the layout that suits your needs is important. If you prefer open spaces and socializing, the open plan layout might be ideal. If privacy and personal space are a priority, the traditional layout could be the best option. The convertible layout offers adaptability for changing needs during your yacht journey. Ultimately, the choice depends on your preferences and the purpose of your yacht trip.

Traditional layout: because who needs innovation when you can have a cabin design that’s as old-fashioned as your great-great-grandmother’s tea set?

Traditional Layout

The classic yacht cabin is designed for comfy, classic occasions. It offers features to suit everyone’s needs. Here’s an overview:

  • Cabin Space : Most layouts have one or more cabins for sleeping. These include beds, storage and sometimes en-suite bathrooms.
  • Common Areas : Besides cabins, common areas offer places to relax and socialise. This could be a lounge, dining area and a kitchen or galley.
  • Design & Décor : The layout often shows off sophisticated design and furniture. Every detail is chosen to create a classy atmosphere reflecting the owner’s taste.
  • Privacy : Traditional layouts offer privacy. Cabins are usually separated by walls or curtains, meaning individuals can get their own space without interruption.

Pro Tip: When hiring a yacht with traditional layout, tell them your preferences for cabins and amenities. This will make sure your experience meets your expectations and is even more enjoyable!

Open-plan Layout

Open-plan layouts have become a popular choice among yacht occupants. The lack of walls and partitions creates an open atmosphere and provides freedom of movement. Flexibility and natural light are also increased, enabling a bright and airy feel. This setup also facilitates social interaction and encourages togetherness.

Plus, well-designed storage solutions ensure that belongings remain organized yet accessible. This type of cabin arrangement is perfect for those who want a contemporary living environment.

Open-plan layouts maximize the available space on board by eliminating compartmentalization. Different areas within the cabin are blended together to create a harmonious integration of living, dining, and recreational zones. This layout offers adaptability, embodying the concept of fluidity in yacht interior design.

Boat International’s article “ Interior Design Tips: Creating Open-Plan Spaces On Board ” confirms the growing popularity of open-plan layouts due to their ability to create a sense of freedom and connectivity in limited spaces.

Split-level Layout

The Split-level Layout is a one-of-a-kind cabin set-up on yachts. It divides the area into two or more levels, granting privacy and better use of space.

A key feature is the elevated lounge area , where you get a panoramic view. Plus, it adds beauty and lets in natural light.

The design scope is wide open. You can place the sleeping quarters on one level and the relaxation area on another.

The split-level layout not only provides distinct spatial divisions , but also yields luxurious atmospheres on board.

Tip: For the best results, hire an experienced yacht designer to flawlessly combine different levels and make the most of the space.

Design Elements for Yacht Cabins

Designing yacht cabins requires careful consideration of various elements to ensure comfort, functionality, and aesthetic appeal. From the layout and arrangement of furniture to the selection of materials and colors, every design choice contributes to the overall ambiance of the space.

To illustrate the different design elements for yacht cabins, let’s examine a table showcasing the key components and their importance:

These design elements play a crucial role in creating a well-designed yacht cabin that meets the needs and desires of its occupants. However, it’s essential to consider additional factors that contribute to the overall design, such as acoustics, ventilation, and safety features.

When designing yacht cabins, attention to detail is key. Every aspect, from the placement of electrical outlets to the integration of technology, must be carefully considered to enhance the overall experience onboard.

Historically, yacht cabins were designed with a focus on functionality and durability. However, as luxury yachting became increasingly popular, the emphasis shifted towards creating elegant and opulent spaces. Today, yacht cabin designs are influenced by the latest trends in interior design, incorporating luxurious materials, innovative layouts, and cutting-edge technology.

By understanding the importance of design elements in yacht cabins and staying abreast of current trends, designers can create captivating spaces that reflect the unique style and personality of their clients.

Whether you’re lounging on plush couches or admiring intricate cabinetry, the furniture and furnishings on a yacht will make you feel like a millionaire. Or at least a really fancy pirate.

Furniture and Furnishings

Furnishing yacht cabins is essential in creating a luxurious ambiance. Here are some key elements that contribute to the look:

  • Comfort : Yacht cabins are furnished with plush sofas, comfy beds, and ergonomic chairs to guarantee utmost comfort to guests.
  • Space Optimization : Smart furniture designs are included in yacht cabins to maximize space utilization. Foldable tables, hidden storage compartments, and modular seating are common.
  • High-Quality Materials : Fine woods, premium leather upholstery, and luxurious fabrics are used to build furniture. This enhances elegance and sturdiness against the marine environment.
  • Customization Options : Yacht owners can personalize their cabins by choosing from a wide range of furnishings. From unique upholstery patterns to cabinetry designs, every element can be tailored to individual preferences.

In addition, attention is given to details such as decorative trims, artistic accents, and finely crafted cabinetry. These nuances add an extra touch of sophistication.

Interesting fact: Luxury furnishings in yacht cabins dates back centuries ago when royalty would employ skilled craftsmen to create opulent interiors. This tradition still continues today with modern innovations and classic designs, resulting in amazing living spaces on board luxury yachts.

Lighting and Ambience

Maximize the use of natural light with windows and skylights. This can connect passengers with the environment.

Install dimmable lights for flexibility when adjusting brightness levels.

Use accent lighting to highlight architectural features or artwork. This adds depth and visual interest.

Choose lighting fixtures with adjustable color temperatures. Cooler tones create a modern feel, while warmer tones evoke coziness.

Utilize indirect lighting techniques, like wall sconces or LED strips. This creates soft, diffused illumination.

Experiment with different lighting scenes. Create predefined settings with smart controls or automation systems. This enhances onboard experiences for passengers.

Storage Solutions

Yacht cabins have some unique features. Elevated floors with drawers , ottomans with secret storage compartments – all providing efficient space use without compromising elegance.

For yacht owners, investing in smart storage is essential. It not only enhances functionality but also creates a sense of peace in the vastness of the sea – a true luxury!

Built-in closets offer plenty of room for clothes, footwear and accessories. Under-bed storage offers spaces for bulky items like bedding or luggage. Overhead lockers provide extra storage for smaller items. Hidden compartments cleverly blend into cabin aesthetics, offering discreet storage options for valuables.

Optimizing Cabin Space

When it comes to maximizing the space in yacht cabins, there are several key considerations to keep in mind. By optimizing cabin space, you can create a more comfortable and functional environment for guests. Here are 6 points to consider:

  • Smart Storage Solutions: Utilize innovative storage options such as hidden compartments, under-bed drawers, and built-in closets to maximize available space without compromising on aesthetics.
  • Multi-functional Furniture: Choose furniture pieces that can serve multiple purposes, such as a sofa that can also be converted into a bed or a table with built-in storage compartments.
  • Efficient Layout Design: Carefully plan the layout of the cabin to ensure that every inch of space is used effectively. Consider factors such as traffic flow, accessibility, and the placement of furniture and fixtures.
  • Natural Light Optimization: Incorporate large windows, skylights, or portholes to allow natural light to flood into the cabin, creating an illusion of spaciousness and enhancing the overall ambiance.
  • Clever Use of Mirrors: Strategically placing mirrors on walls or cabinet doors can create an illusion of depth, making the cabin appear larger than it is.
  • Minimalistic Design: Adopting a minimalist approach to cabin design can help create a sense of openness and reduce clutter. Opt for clean lines, neutral colors, and space-saving furniture to achieve this aesthetic.

Additionally, consider the incorporation of unique details such as customizable lighting options or innovative technology that adds convenience and luxury to the cabin experience. These thoughtful touches can make a significant difference in ensuring a memorable and enjoyable yacht journey.

One such story involves a yacht designer who managed to optimize the cabin space of a luxury yacht to such an extent that it left the guests in awe. Through the clever use of modular furniture and smart storage solutions, every corner of the cabin was utilized efficiently. The guests were amazed by the level of comfort and convenience they experienced, despite the limited space available. This story serves as a reminder of the possibilities that exist when it comes to optimizing cabin space in yacht design.

With multifunctional furniture, you can hide your regrets about not being a pirate behind secret compartments and fold-out beds.

Multifunctional Furniture

Multifunctional furniture is a great way to make the most of cabin space. Clever designs let you use limited space efficiently – perfect for small homes and apartments.

Think about a table that transforms into a desk or dining table with just a few simple adjustments. It’s strong and offers lots of surface area, no matter if you’re working or relaxing. This means you don’t need separate pieces – you get maximum room usage!

Plus, hidden storage compartments let you store items without making a mess. Magazines, board games, extra pillows – all within reach yet out of sight.

Make the most of your living space with multifunctional furniture. Enjoy a clutter-free environment and display your essentials elegantly. Discover how these transformative pieces can make your cabin feel bigger and more organized.

Clever Storage Solutions

Maximize every inch of space in your cabin by utilizing smart storage solutions! Here are some effective strategies:

  • Utilize vertical space by installing shelves and compartments on walls.
  • Get multi-functional furniture, like ottomans with hidden storage or beds with drawers.
  • Hang organizers behind doors or on hooks for smaller items.
  • Store items under your bed with rolling bins or vacuum-sealed bags.
  • In addition, opt for transparent storage containers and adjustable shelving systems.

Pro Tip: Assess your cabin’s layout before implementing any storage solution. Prioritize based on your needs and preferences.

Use of Mirrors and Glass

Mirrors and glass can do wonders when it comes to optimizing cabin space. They can create an illusion of space and add to the overall aesthetics. Let’s take a look at how they can help:

  • Reflect light, making the space brighter and larger.
  • Create an illusion of depth, making the cabin appear bigger.
  • Serve functional purposes like vanity mirrors, rearview mirrors, etc.
  • Come in different shapes and sizes, adding elegance to the cabin interior.
  • Allows natural light to enter, giving a sense of openness.
  • Provide panoramic views, making the cabin feel expansive.
  • Be used for various applications such as windows, partitions, or even display panels.
  • Be customized with different textures or patterns to enhance the aesthetics of the space.

To maximize the effect, here are some tips to optimize cabin space further:

  • Incorporate wall-mounted mirrors for reflection.
  • Use full-length mirrored wardrobe doors.
  • Opt for larger windows made of durable glass material.
  • Utilize frosted or textured glass panels as room dividers.
  • Integrate built-in mirror cabinets.

By combining mirrors and glass elements, we can achieve the perfect mix of functionality and aesthetics. Leverage these elements to get the most out of cabin space!

Safety Considerations in Yacht Cabin Design

Yacht Cabin Safety: Ensuring Design for Safety

Yacht cabin design must prioritize safety measures to ensure the well-being of passengers on board. This involves considering various factors and implementing appropriate measures to prevent accidents and mitigate risks. By incorporating safety considerations into the design process, yacht cabins can provide a secure and enjoyable experience for all.

Below is a table highlighting some essential safety considerations in yacht cabin design:

In addition to these considerations, yacht cabin design also includes unique details tailored to each vessel’s specific requirements. These may include additional safety features such as automatic life raft launch systems or reinforced windows to withstand extreme weather conditions. Designers and manufacturers work closely with naval architects and safety experts to determine the most effective solutions for each yacht.

One true historical example of the importance of safety considerations in yacht cabin design is the Titanic. Despite being touted as unsinkable, inadequate safety measures such as insufficient lifeboats and compartmentalized design flaws ultimately led to one of the most infamous maritime disasters. This tragic event serves as a reminder of the critical need for thorough safety considerations in yacht and ship design.

By prioritizing safety considerations in yacht cabin design, both designers and passengers can have peace of mind knowing that the cabins are built to withstand potential risks and provide a secure environment. Implementing effective safety measures not only ensures compliance with regulations but also enhances the overall experience of sailing on a yacht.

Stay safe onboard and remember, just because the yacht is on fire doesn’t mean your wardrobe has to go up in smoke too!

Fire Safety Measures

Take decisive action now to create a safe environment on your yacht — one that ensures peace of mind during every voyage. Install high-quality fire alarm systems that detect even the slightest signs of smoke or fire. These advanced systems use state-of-the-art technology, providing early warnings for timely evacuation and containment.

Equip the yacht with effective firefighting equipment. Include portable extinguishers and fire blankets strategically placed. Additionally, incorporate flame-resistant materials and finishes in the cabin design. Choose fire-retardant upholstery, carpets, curtains, and bedding, that have been tested and certified by relevant authorities.

Prioritize proper training for crew members too. Teach them firefighting techniques, emergency protocols, and evacuation procedures. Regular drills should be conducted to guarantee everyone is well-prepared for any fire-related eventualities. Fire safety measures in yacht cabin design are not optional. Put into place the necessary measures now, for a safe and secure voyage.

Emergency Exits and Escape Routes

A table showing Emergency Exits and Escape Routes gives a clear visual of the yacht’s layout. Designers can see where bottlenecks might be, how many exits are needed, and where to put life-saving equipment.

Safety regulations must be followed. Accessibility of exits and routes is key. They should be easily visible with signs, and not blocked.

In 2012, a yacht on the Mediterranean Sea had a major fire. Passengers had difficulty leaving due to lack of exits and routes. This caused fatalities and injuries that could have been avoided.

Emergency Exits and Escape Routes are very important in yacht design. Thoughtful planning, following regulations, and regular evaluation are needed for the safety of passengers and crew.

Non-Slip Flooring and Secure Fixtures

Non-slip flooring is vital for establishing a safe setting. It offers grip and stops slipping, especially in wet places like bathrooms and kitchens. Plus, secure fittings such as handrails, grab bars, and furniture attachments are necessary to maintain steadiness during bad sea states.

To illustrate the value of non-slip flooring and secure features, the following table explains it:

It is also important to think about particular details when applying these safety measures. For example, picking a non-slip flooring material with proper textures makes it more efficient. Likewise, selecting fittings that adhere to known safety regulations guarantees their reliability and durability in the long run.

In order to get the most safety from a yacht cabin, here are some suggestions:

  • Put first-rate non-slip flooring materials that are made for marine environments.
  • Inspect and maintain secure fixtures frequently to make sure they stay solid and firmly fixed.
  • Install extra handrails in areas where individuals may need extra support due to physical limitations.
  • Utilize adhesive mats or pads in specific spots where further grip is required.

These tips work because they solve potential dangers by providing practical solutions. By utilizing quality materials and doing regular maintenance, the chance of accidents caused by slippery surfaces or insecure fittings is greatly decreased on board a yacht cabin.

Incorporating Luxury and Comfort Features

Incorporating Exquisite Amenities and Opulent Comfort

Experience lavishness and opulence with carefully curated luxury and comfort features on your yacht. Here are four key elements that enhance the overall experience:

  • Sumptuous Furnishings: Indulge in plush and tailored furnishings that provide utmost comfort and elegance. From handcrafted sofas to designer beds, each piece is chosen to create a lavish ambiance.
  • State-of-the-Art Technology: Enjoy the latest technology integrations throughout your yacht. From advanced entertainment systems to automated controls, every aspect is designed to provide convenience and enhance the overall experience.
  • Spacious Layouts: Embrace the feeling of openness and spaciousness with well-designed layouts. Expansive living areas and luxurious cabins ensure ample room for relaxation and rejuvenation.
  • Premium Amenities: Delight in an array of premium amenities that cater to your every need. From fitness centers and spa facilities to gourmet dining options, each amenity is tailored to provide an unmatched level of luxury.

Uncover Unmatched Luxury and Comfort

In addition to these features, your yacht is tailored to pamper you with unique details that surpass expectations. Immerse yourself in a world of luxury where attention to detail is paramount, ensuring that every aspect of your experience exceeds your desires.

Embrace the Yacht Lifestyle

Unlock the gateway to extraordinary adventures and unforgettable moments on your yacht. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to indulge in ultimate luxury and comfort. Start living your dream today and create cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

Because it’s not just about fancy finishes and rich materials, it’s about enjoying your yacht cabin like a true high-rolling pirate.

High-Quality Materials and Finishes

High-quality materials and finishes are essential for a luxurious and comfy living space. These materials not only look good; they make the products last longer.

Let’s check out a table on common materials used in interior design:

These materials raise the luxury level of a space. For example, hardwood flooring adds warmth and class. Venetian plaster on walls gives a rich texture. Genuine leather furniture is comfy. Crystal chandeliers sparkle. Stainless steel bathroom fittings have style and function.

To include unique details, try less-known materials like alpaca wool for upholstery or Murano glass for decorative pieces. These special choices give rarity and grandeur, making any space amazing.

Pro Tip: When selecting these materials and finishes, think of your personal preferences and lifestyle and get advice from interior designers or people who know the field. This ensures that you get both form and function in your living environment.

Smart Home Technology Integration

Smart home tech brings comfort and luxury to your living space. Let’s dive into the details!

  • Easy control – Use your smartphone to manage things like lights, temperature and security systems.
  • Seamless automation – Smart homes can automatically change the thermostat and switch off lights when no one’s around.
  • Enhanced security – Monitor and control security cameras and alarms remotely.
  • Energy efficiency – Programmable thermostats and energy monitoring systems help save energy.

There’s more – voice-control virtual assistants like Amazon Echo and Google Home . They provide hands-free control and are great for people with disabilities.

To make the most of this tech:

  • Buy compatible devices.
  • Understand security protocols.
  • Customize automation settings.
  • Install updates.

Follow these tips and enjoy the comfort and luxury of smart home tech!

Wellness Features and Amenities

For a luxurious wellness experience, resorts and hotels provide features and amenities to promote relaxation and rejuvenation. Spa facilities offer pampering treatments like massages and facials . Fitness centers have state-of-the-art equipment with personal trainers and classes . Outdoor spaces have lush gardens for peaceful retreats. Nutrition-focused cuisine caters to dietary preferences. Some establishments are even getting creative with sound therapy rooms and mindfulness meditation sessions! My recent stay at an upscale resort included all of these features that left me feeling totally relaxed and recharged.

Exploration of yacht cabin layout and design is over. Every detail is key in creating the perfect atmosphere for luxury and relaxation. The selection of materials, arrangement of furniture, and use of space all affect the onboard experience.

Lighting is a big part of yacht cabins. Natural light streaming in from big windows or carefully placed fixtures can create a warm atmosphere. Smart lighting systems should be considered because they allow for easy customization.

Now, a captivating story. A group of friends chartered a yacht with exquisitely designed cabins. The layout offered individual privacy and togetherness. Moments were unforgettable, with personal retreats.

By Nina Done   22 June 2023

Still officially known as Project H , Oceanco has released interior images of the 105m (345ft) superyacht H3 (formerly known as Neom & Indian Empress), after emerging from her shed earlier this year following a transformative refit that spanned over three years.

Showcasing a new sleek, contemporary profile, her hull has also been lengthened by 10 meters to accommodate a beach club , with an additional outdoor swimming pool adding to her allure.

Oceanco yacht H3

Her remodeled interiors, meanwhile, are courtesy of the industry-renowned studio Reymond Langton Design, harnessing a neutral scheme featuring an array of high quality finishes including light taupe oak, soft nubuck leathers and delicate marbles, with bronze and nickel detailing adding contrast.

To say that this has been a remarkable process is an understatement.

She’s also had an overhaul of her social spaces, including her main deck, which now plays host to a dual staircase wrapping around a waterfall feature, as well as video walls and welcome lobby & bar area.

Her owner’s deck has also received some major modifications, and now includes a private dining room for 14 as well as a convertible cinema set-up in her lounge. There is also a climate-controlled winter garden on this level, capable of hosting up to 32 guests, making this the ideal spot for corporate charters and shoreside events.

Main salon on board Oceanco yacht H3

In terms of accommodation, superyacht H3 offers a vast owner stateroom, alongside two extra guest cabins, ideal for those traveling with children of their security detail. She also has a bridge deck VIP cabin, with the reminder of her cabins located on her main deck.

This leaves her lower deck free to incorporate a vast wellness center, replete with a Hammam, sensory shower, hair salon and beauty treatment rooms, all adjoining a large beach club and swim platform.

In addition to her aesthetic features, the motor yacht also received upgrades to her technology systems and is fully compliant with IMO’s stringent Tier III safety standards. She's also been equipped with enhanced sustainability features in line with the yachting industry's much-vaunted ambitions, to ensure a more positive impact on the delicate marine environment and the planet as a whole.

Oceanco’s CEO Marcel Onkenhout commented at the time of her relaunch: “To say that this has been a remarkable process is an understatement. The project has called for passion, dedication, and extraordinary craftsmanship, with many involved in her creation now contributing to her recreation, including myself. We are proud to say that we are relaunching a completely new Oceanco.”

See Inside the Superyacht Princess Diana Shared With Dodi Fayed

By Katherine McLaughlin

Princess Diana jumping on the deck of a yacht

Since her untimely death in August of 1997, Princess Diana’s last summer spent with Dodi Al-Fayed has been described in various ways: a passionate love affair, a fake publicity stunt, a temporary fling, a rouse to infuriate another suiter, or the beginning of a lifelong commitment. Although the stories change, the setting remains: a summer tour through the Mediterranean aboard a multi-million dollar superyacht. Later this year, nearly 25 years to the day, the 208-foot vessel will launch for sale again.

Study and seating area in the super yacht

The yacht is full of glossy and dark wood paneling.

Originally named Jonikal , then Sokar , and most recently Bash , the luxury vessel was first owned by Mohamed Al-Fayed, former owner of Harrods and father of Dodi Al-Fayed. During the fateful summer, Al-Fayed hosted Princess Di and her two sons aboard the Jonikal . After the couple’s tragic death, Mohamed Al-Fayed attempted to sell the yacht numerous times before it was finally bought in 2014. It was most recently purchased by Bassim Haidar in June of 2021, who is selling it just over a year later as he reportedly has plans to upgrade to a larger vessel. “She is in the yard being refitted, and will be launched for sale in September,” said John Wood, director at Seawood Yachts.

Coffered ceilings add a dramatic, yet timeless feel.

Bash , as the yacht is currently named, was designed by navel architect Vincenzo Ruggiero in the 1980s and built by the superyacht building firm Codecasa before launching in 1990. The vessel can hold up to 18 people across nine staterooms in addition to rooms for 26 crew members. Among many notable features, Bash includes a jacuzzi, swim platform, sun deck, a formal dining room, main saloon, a bar, and office space. Full of dark wood paneling and coffered ceilings, the interiors are reminiscent of the Arts and Crafts style of the early 1900s.

The vessel includes nine staterooms in addition to plenty of space for the crew.

Powered by Wärtsilä engines, the yacht has a cruising speed of 15 knots and top speeds of 20 knots. Even though an exact price hasn’t been advertised just yet, the last time the boat was sold, it was listed for $10,000,000.

Everything you need to know about MSC Cruises cabins and suites

A relative newcomer in the North American market, MSC Cruises is equal parts elegant and kitschy. The line tends to appeal to a wide swath of cruisers, from Europeans who like to party into the wee hours of the morning to American families who book because of affordable fares and "kids sail free" pricing.

To satisfy its diverse passenger base, MSC offers accommodations to fit all types of travelers. Rooms include inexpensive inside cabins that sleep two people, midlevel staterooms with windows and balconies, and high-end suites that offer cruisers with larger budgets a private oasis in the form of the MSC Yacht Club .

A variety of connecting rooms and cabins with extra bunks accommodate larger groups and families who wish to share space.

Because your cruise cabin will be your home away from home for several days, it's important to book one that fits your needs. That's especially true if you're sharing it with several people.

MSC Cruises has become one of the fastest-growing lines in the cruise industry, with about two dozen ships in its fleet. The vessels fall into six classes : Lirica, Musica, Fantasia, Meraviglia, Seaside and World.

Although cabin offerings can vary from ship to ship and class to class, the standard types remain the same: inside, outside, balcony and suite.

Additionally, you'll find the same basic amenities in each room, unless otherwise noted below. They include two twin beds that can be joined to form a queen- or king-size bed; an in-cabin bathroom with a shower, a sink, a toilet and basic soap, shower gel and shampoo; a couple of nightstands; a chair or sofa; a desk/vanity; a closet; a safe; a hair dryer; a minifridge; a phone; USB outlets and a selection of both North American and European outlets.

On all ships except MSC Lirica, MSC Opera, MSC Sinfonia and MSC Armonia, you'll also find an interactive TV that allows you to view the daily schedule, check your onboard account and choose from a selection of live TV programs and movies.

Twice-daily room tidying is provided by a room steward assigned to each cabin, and room service is available throughout the day for an added fee.

One confusing aspect of MSC's bookings is that you'll have to select an experience package in addition to a cabin type. Package tiers determine things like your ability to choose a specific cabin and preferred dining time and whether you'll receive welcome amenities in your room. Certain cabin types are only available in conjunction with certain package experiences and vice versa. Those are noted in each respective section below.

Accessible cabins , including accommodations for wheelchair users, are available on every ship in MSC's fleet. In addition to more space, they feature wider doorways and lowered sinks and toilets in the bathrooms, as well as grab bars.

MSC Cruises' experience packages

Here's what you get when you book each of MSC's three experience packages, which determine the perks you'll receive on your sailing.

Inside cabins on MSC Cruises ships

Inside cabins — rooms with no windows — are available on all ships in the MSC fleet. Ranging from 140 to 301 square feet (depending on the ship), they make for great sleeping because they're so dark. They're also ideal for passengers who are on a budget.

In addition to the standard amenities mentioned above, they provide room for anywhere from two to four passengers to sleep. (Rooms that sleep more than two feature bunks that pull down from the ceiling.)

These cabins are available with the line's Bella and Fantastica experiences.

If you're sailing solo, some MSC vessels offer cabins for one outfitted with a twin bed that converts into a couch. These interior studio accommodations are only available with the Bella package on MSC Meraviglia , MSC Bellissima and the line's World Class ships.

Ocean-view cabins on MSC Cruises ships

Ocean-view rooms are similar to insides in that they provide basic amenities — but with a view.

Offering 129 to 269 square feet of space (depending on the specific ship and ocean-view category), these staterooms allow you to see outside through a porthole or a window that doesn't open.

MSC's outside cabins are available to passengers who book Bella and Fantastica packages.

Additionally, if you're traveling with your family or another group, several of MSC Cruises' ships — particularly those in the Meraviglia and Seaside classes — feature space for as many as 10 passengers via a series of connecting rooms. Options are available at the ocean-view and balcony levels.

Balcony cabins on MSC Cruises ships

You might be surprised to discover that most of MSC Cruises' balcony cabins provide less interior square footage than what's available in inside or ocean-view staterooms.

Balcony rooms run anywhere from 129 to 205 square feet, but their key feature is, of course, a private balcony, which does add an extra 32 to 129 square feet, depending on the vessel and specific type of balcony room booked. These cabins are bookable in conjunction with MSC's Bella, Fantastica and Aurea experiences.

Although balcony cabins offer upgraded amenities, including MSC's brand of hand lotion and toiletries, they are largely the same as inside and ocean-view accommodations.

MSC's newest ships — including those in the Meraviglia, Seaside and World Classes — house connecting balcony rooms that can sleep up to 10 in the same group traveling together.

Additionally, on its World Class ships, the line has introduced inward-facing balconies, similar to the ones Royal Caribbean pioneered in 2009 with the debut of its Oasis Class vessels . On World Europa, for example, they overlook the ship's promenade, offering views of the activity below, rather than the ocean.

MSC Cruises suites

All ships in MSC's fleet have suites that can be booked as part of the Fantastica and Aurea packages, but it's Aurea that offers the largest number of perks, as outlined above.

The several types of suites vary by ship in terms of size and amenities. Some come with balconies, while others only offer floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows.

Junior Suites

Although this room type is listed as a suite, it's essentially a balcony cabin with a bit more space — 183 square feet of interior accommodation with a balcony that ranges from 140 to 183 square feet.

Standard suites include rooms with huge balconies larger than the cabin's interior space and ones with private whirlpool tubs. They run from 269 to 355 square feet, with balconies measuring 32 to 409 square feet.

Grand Suites

Coming in between 377 and 420 square feet, with balconies spanning from 32 to 495 square feet, Grand Suites — found on Seaside and World Class ships — come in two types. They include standard one-bedroom Grand Suites, as well as two-bedroom varieties.

The latter has one bedroom with a queen-size bed and another with two twins. It sleeps up to five passengers and offers two bathrooms — one with a shower and the other with a bathtub.

While most suites are designed for double occupancy, some suite accommodations on MSC Bellissima, MSC Grandiosa, MSC Virtuosa and MSC Magnifica can sleep up to five people.

MSC Yacht Club suites on MSC ships

All cabins located in the MSC Yacht Club — an exclusive, gated area on select ships — are called suites, even the smallest and least expensive, which don't have windows or balconies.

Yacht Club suite types range from insides to two-deck duplexes, all of which come with butler and concierge services, luxuriously appointed furnishings (such as real marble finishes, memory foam mattresses and Egyptian cotton sheets) and access to members-only restaurants, bars (alcohol is free there), lounges, pools and sun decks.

The Yacht Club features seven different types of rooms. Ships that have the MSC Yacht Club on board include MSC Bellissima, MSC Divina, MSC Fantasia, MSC Grandiosa, MSC Meraviglia, MSC Preziosa, MSC Seaside, MSC Seascape, MSC Seaview, MSC Seashore, MSC Splendida, MSC Virtuosa and MSC World Europa.

Note: Not all Yacht Clubs have the same suite types available.

MSC Yacht Club Interior Suites

Although these 161- to 226-square-foot cabins don't offer a view or fresh air, they are elegantly decorated and include all the Yacht Club benefits mentioned above.

MSC Yacht Club Deluxe Suites

These Yacht Club digs are the equivalent of a balcony cabin — but in a dedicated area that includes all the exclusive perks. They run 236 to 366 square feet and have balconies ranging from 54 to 86 square feet, so they also come with a bit more space, both inside and outdoors.

MSC Yacht Club Deluxe Grand Suites

Similarly, Deluxe Grand Suites are like the Yacht Club equivalent of booking a Grand Suite with more perks. Depending on the ship, they offer anywhere from 269 to 463 square feet of space, plus 65- to 129-square-foot balconies. Some Grand Suites also have two bedrooms instead of one. Further, these rooms on Seaside Class ships include bathrooms with bathtubs, as well as separate living areas.

MSC Yacht Club Duplex Suites

Rising two decks, MSC's duplex staterooms measure 495 to 635 square feet and come with 65- to 334-square-foot balconies. They feature living rooms with two-person sofa beds downstairs and master bedrooms upstairs, which also sleep two passengers.

Each of these accommodations comes complete with two walk-in closets and two bathrooms — one with a bathtub and one with a shower. Most duplexes on Meraviglia and World Class ships also have their own private whirlpool tubs.

MSC Yacht Club Executive and Family Suites

The line's Executive and Family Suites, available only on Fantasia Class vessels, are an excellent choice for anyone who wants to stay in the Yacht Club with a family or other group of more than two people.

This option, which is one type of suite (despite its confusing name), has space for up to five cruisers via a combination of bunk beds, sofa beds and beds that pull down from the ceiling, depending on the ship. The suites clock in at around 431 to 549 square feet, depending on the vessel.

The only drawback is that these staterooms have no balconies and no in-room dining areas, but they do include all the perks you'd find in Yacht Club cabins.

MSC Yacht Club Royal Suites

Although they only occupy one level, at 388 to 667 square feet, MSC's Yacht Club Royal Suites are right up there with the Duplex Suites in terms of space. They offer the second-largest amount of square footage after the Owner's Suites. They come with huge balconies comprising 355 to 753 square feet of outdoor area.

Additionally, bathrooms in these suites offer bathtubs on Fantasia, Meraviglia, Seaside and World Class ships, and the latter three have private whirlpool tubs, as well. All four classes' Royal Suites also include separate living room areas.

MSC Yacht Club Owner's Suites

The largest and most impressive of all MSC's cabins are the Owner's Suites found in the Yacht Club. Offering an impressive 840 to 1,119 square feet — larger than some land-based apartments — plus 269- to 670-square-foot balconies, they're some of the most luxurious rooms afloat.

Specific amenities vary by ship, but as an example, Owner's Suites on MSC World Europa offer floor-to-ceiling windows and walk-in closets. These accommodations on both the line's Seaside and World Class vessels also feature bathrooms with separate showers and bathtubs, as well as private whirlpool tubs and separate living room areas.

Bottom line

Although MSC Cruises' cabin types are straightforward, the line's add-on experiences can complicate things a bit.

Overall, what's key to remember is that MSC Cruises offers a wide variety of rooms and pricing to meet just about any budget or style of cruising. Each ship will offer accommodation choices from the least expensive, bare-bones interior rooms to the priciest suites, which come with butler and concierge services.

When you sail with MSC Cruises, you can expect function, style and comfort, regardless of the cabin type you book.

Take a look at the superyacht the Jefferies CEO just bought from the Houston Rockets' billionaire owner

  • Jefferies CEO Rich Handler sold $65 million of stock — some of which he used to buy a superyacht.
  • He purchased Boardwalk from billionaire friend and client Tilman Fertitta.
  • Here's a look at the multimillion-dollar superyacht.

Insider Today

Earlier this week, Jefferies CEO Rich Handler sold $65 million worth of stock in the investment bank — enough to warrant a press release — partly to buy a yacht from his friend and client, hospitality billionaire and Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta .

"My sale of shares today was a gift to myself and my family," Handler said in the release.

It's a pretty good gift. The boat in question is a 50-meter superyacht named Boardwalk.

According to the yacht's shipyard, Westport Yachts, the off-market deal was pending as of last month. The sale price isn't public.

Boardwalk, which is currently moored in Fort Lauderdale, Florida , was originally delivered in 2010. She features a spa pool and helipad on her sun deck, as well as multiple bars and 15 bathrooms, of which at least one has a television. The master cabin has a dressing room and a private study, and there are scooters on board to make getting around easier — and more fun.

She can fit 12 guests and 12 crew members, according to industry source SuperYacht Times .

"It isn't cheap, I can tell you that. I just love it," Fertitta told a local ABC affiliate in 2017, referring to Boardwalk's $40 million price tag.

While Boardwalk is technically part of "a series" — one of a fleet of boats built by the shipyard of this size and general design — Fertitta made many custom adjustments, adding lights throughout and opening up spaces to create a less formal feel, he told Yachts International in 2011.

Handler has been a guest on the yacht before, landing on its deck via helicopter when it was moored in St. Barts , according to a video posted on Fertitta's Instagram account in 2018.

"It's a shame when you have to pick your friends up to come see you. This is @handlerrich roughin' it to the @boardwalk164," he wrote in the caption.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tilman J. Fertitta (@tilmanfertitta)

"It's one of those things that I've always wanted and I'll always have," Fertitta said during the 2017 interview.

While he won't always have this exact boat, Fertitta, who is worth $9.3 billion, per Forbes, will likely always have a yacht and appears to have traded up.

He teased his new, fully custom vessel — a 77-meter giant built by Dutch shipyard Feadship — in 2019. It was delivered in 2021 and is also named Boardwalk.

The new Boardwalk has a more modern design. The gym has a Peloton and a Mirror ; there's a sauna and beauty salon; and there are six sit-down bars — appropriate for a hospitality billionaire.

"This takes it to a whole new level," his son, Michael, told Boat International .

Looks like Handler still has something to aspire to.

Steve Jobs superyacht Venus cruising

Iconic yachts: On board Steve Jobs's Feadship superyacht Venus

Perhaps it’s her famous owner, unique exterior or the total secrecy surrounding the project, but there are few superyachts that are more captivating than the utterly iconic yacht Venus . Built by Feadship and designed by Philippe Starck , 78.2-metre Venus was launched in October 2012.

Venus is a fully custom creation, built for the late Apple founder Steve Jobs, who Feadship says (as seen on its website) had a hand in her completely unique design. Sadly, Jobs never had the chance to set foot on board before his untimely death in 2011, the year before Venus was launched. The yacht remains in the family, now owned by his widow Laurene Powell Jobs. Venus is entirely private and not available for charter. Jobs was widely reported saying the following to his biographer: “I know that it’s possible I will die and leave Laurene with a half-built boat. But I have to keep going on it. If I don’t, it’s an admission that I’m about to die.”

The yacht has been shrouded in secrecy since her inception, with the yard unable to comment on one of its most fascinating yachts even to this day. But with a famous name like Steve Jobs attached to the project, she was bound to garner attention. However, it’s not merely having a high-profile owner that makes this yacht interesting – Venus’s exterior profile is also incredibly unique.

The exterior is dominated by a striking silver paint job, gleaming stainless-steel details and a line of rectangular windows running from the bow to just past amidships. Venus is long and lean with an 11.8-metre beam and a low-slung superstructure made entirely of glass. Starck designed Venus’s exterior with straight lines and 90-degree angles. She has an axe bow, and an unusual flat, squared stern, which opens to reveal a tender garage. The long forward deck, planked in teak, is completely free of clutter. Notably, she has no visible radar arch or satellite equipment; all of this is hidden within a box to keep Venus’s exterior extremely clean.

This is one of the first things that yacht photographer Giovanni Romero noticed when he shot Venus . Romero was the first to photograph Venus when she arrived in the Mediterranean on a cold January morning after her shakedown voyage from the Feadship yard in The Netherlands.

“What really struck me was the glass, the polished metal, the minimalist look – and the fact that you couldn’t see any satellites or anything distracting from her exterior design,” says Giovanni Romero. “The sun had just started to rise, so I could really appreciate all the glass panels and the reflection off her hull.” He says shooting Venus was an experience he will never forget.

The minimalist yet eye-catching exterior style of Venus is reminiscent of an Apple product, like the iPhone or iPad. And, when photographers have gotten up close, photos have revealed that Venus has no ordinary bridge – instead, multiple Mac computer screens line the inside of the bridge windows. “I remember being very close and looking up at the bridge and seeing a row of computers. It was so unusual!” says Romero.

Other than glimpses into the bridge, Venus’s interior has never been seen publicly, so we can only imagine what it might look – perhaps the sleek yet welcoming feeling of an Apple store? “Think Different” has been Apple’s longtime slogan, and it’s clear that Jobs wanted to create something amazingly different with his iconic yacht Venus .

WEATHER ALERT

A rip current statement in effect for Coastal Broward and Coastal Miami Dade Regions

Outrage over video showing boaters dumping trash, then celebrating: ‘take the boat and jail them’.

Louis Aguirre , Anchor/Reporter/Environmental Advocate

BOCA RATON, Fla. – State law enforcement officials are investigating after a group of young boaters were caught on camera dumping trash right into the ocean in the waters off South Florida over the weekend — and then celebrating what they did.

It’s sparking outrage over social media.

The video, taken by social media content creator Wavy Boats , shows the group dumping two garbage cans full of trash into the ocean about a mile and a half offshore the Boca Raton Inlet Sunday afternoon.

Wavy Boats took the video as the vessel was leaving the annual Boca Bash on Lake Boca, speeding east on the inlet despite huge swells, then stopping to dump the trash — cans, bottles, plastic cups — right into the sea. The video shows some of it floating on the surface as the boaters sped back into the inlet to rejoin the party.

The video went viral and was reposted on several accounts with tens of thousands of people commenting and expressing anger.

“The boat should be confiscated and sold at auction,” one comment read.

Another reads, “Take their boat and jail them!”

A spokesperson for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said the agency is investigating. The agency confirmed to Local 10 that agents know who the boat belongs to and are working to identify everyone on board.

Organizers of Boca Bash released a statement that reads in part:

“It is irresponsible boat owners like this that give the event a bad reputation. The Boca Bash regularly asks attendees to keep our waterways clean all the way up to the event date. We do not condone drinking and operating a vessel by any means and cannot stress enough how imperative it is to keep our local waters clean.”

Some of the boaters appear to be minors.

There’s no word on any arrests or if their parents will be held accountable. Violations to Florida’s litter law can result in civil penalties, fines, and possible prison sentences.

Police investigate ‘suspicious' body found burning in Brooklyn boat

By nbc new york staff • published april 27, 2024 • updated on april 27, 2024 at 1:48 pm.

An early morning fire led New York City officials to the discovery of a body found burning inside a boat.

Firefighters say they received a call about a dumpster fire in Brooklyn, inside a parking lot on Conover Street between Beard and Reed streets in Red Hook. The call came in just before 5 a.m.

When they arrived on the scene, officials found a boat still on its trailer on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished by the fire crews, leading to the discovery of a body inside the vessel.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A law enforcement source called the death "suspicious."

Inside the 'Hungryland Homicide': Why police investigated a pastor, a ventriloquist and ex-husband to find Florida mom's killer

"20/20" explores the investigation into the 2016 killing of Tricia Todd.

When Tricia Todd didn’t pick up her 2-year-old daughter Faith from her babysitter on April 27, 2016, her family knew something was wrong.

After completing dozens of interviews, combing through hours of surveillance footage and chasing several dead ends, investigators were finally able to determine why Faith had not been picked up by her mother that day: the 30-year-old nurse had been killed. But even as detectives uncovered the surprising truth of what happened to Tricia Todd, they were left with more questions.

PHOTO: Tricia Todd was a 30-year-old mom, Air Force veteran and nurse. Todd’s family reported her missing to Florida police on April 27, 2016.

“What did we do wrong? Who did we just make a deal with?” Martin County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Yesenia Carde recalled in an interview with “20/20” Co-Anchor Deborah Roberts.

Investigators spoke in a new “20/20” episode, airing Friday, May 3, at 9 p.m. ET on ABC and streaming the next day on Hulu, about how they were able to sift through an array of leads to finally secure a shocking confession from Tricia Todd’s murderer – and arranged a plea deal to locate her missing body.

PHOTO: Martin County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Yesenia Carde spoke with “20/20” Co-Anchor Deborah Roberts near the house where Tricia Todd was last seen alive.

“I just made a deal with the devil, and there's nothing I can do about it,” the State Attorney for Florida's 19th Judicial Circuit, Tom Bakkedahl, told “20/20.”

One month before that deal with her killer, Tricia Todd was living in Hobe Sound, Florida – a quiet town of around 1,300 residents on the east coast of the state, about 40 minutes north of Palm Beach.

The “tight-knit” Hobe Sound community didn’t “have violent crimes like we were dealing with in this case,” according to Martin County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy John Budensiek. He described a missing persons case like Todd’s as “unheard of” and her disappearance one that set the community “on edge.”

Additionally, Todd was one of Hobe Sound’s own. Growing up there with her seven brothers, Todd was well-known in her hometown.

“[Tricia] would keep up with the boys, whatever they're doing, she's doing,” Todd’s mother Rebecca Hasselbach told Roberts. “They're jumping on the trampoline. She's jumping on the trampoline. When she got bigger, they had motorcycles. She had a motorcycle. That was her.”

PHOTO: Rebecca Hasselbach, Tricia Todd’s mother, recalled with “20/20” Co-Anchor Deborah Roberts about her excitement of having a baby girl and her daughter’s dream of becoming a nurse.

Todd attended Hobe Sound Christian Academy, where she met Steven Williams – a boy from West Palm Beach. Todd’s friend Marnie Ellis described Williams as “super funny" with “a big personality.” Todd and Williams began to date, both enrolled in the Air Force, and later married in a small, private ceremony in North Carolina.

From a young age, Todd knew she wanted to be a nurse, according to her mother. After completing her time with the Air Force, she attended nursing school, began work as a hospice nurse, and made several medical mission trips to Haiti, her brother Jonathan Todd told “20/20.”

Then Todd received exciting news – she was pregnant with a baby girl. She named her Faith.

“I could not believe how happy she was,” Ellis said. “That was the most important thing to her, along with becoming a nurse, was being a mom.”

PHOTO: Tricia Todd and Steven Williams married in a small ceremony in North Carolina, and later gave birth to their baby girl Faith. The couple divorced after being married for more than a decade.

After Faith’s birth, Todd’s friends said they began to see her marriage to Williams unravel, with Ellis one friend telling “20/20” that Todd was bothered by repeated infidelity. In 2015, the two separated and Todd moved herself and her daughter back to Hobe Sound. After ten years of marriage, a divorce was officially finalized a year later.

Todd began to build a new life in Hobe Sound. She moved in with one of her brothers in his home about 2 miles from the beach, a location her family said she took advantage of to make late night beach walks to think and pray. Williams, still living in North Carolina, paid child support and visited his daughter.

It was during one of these visits in April 2016 that Todd went missing.

MORE: Video 30-year-old mom vanishes from Florida, concerning family and community

Faith was staying with her father overnight at a property he had rented near Todd’s residence. Williams texted Todd, telling her Faith was having trouble sleeping and asked her to come over to help. In early conversations with investigators, Williams explained that Todd tended to Faith and then left the rental house around 2 a.m.

The next morning, Todd did not arrive to pick up her daughter. Williams said that after trying to reach her all morning, he left his daughter with her babysitter before heading back to North Carolina. By that evening, Todd still had not surfaced. Worried family members alerted police to her disappearance.

Police searched Todd’s home and car and found her car moved from its usual parking spot with her keys and purse inside. Inside her home, groceries had been left on her kitchen counter. Her wallet and phone were missing, but there were no further clues about her location.

Interviews with Todd's friends and family revealed an initial lead -- Todd may have had a new romantic interest who “she was convinced...she was supposed to be with,” Ellis told ABC News.

His name was Brent Vernon, a local performer and ventriloquist. Ellis said Todd was infatuated with Vernon, even buying a new dress for an upcoming performance in the hopes of sparking a romance.Detectives were hopeful that Todd might still show up at that performance, a week after she was reported missing, and police set up surveillance of the venue. But she never appeared.

Brent Vernon was ultimately cleared by investigators of having any involvement in Tricia Todd’s disappearance.

Meanwhile, Williams, who investigators at the time noted was “pleasant and cooperative," may have identified a new lead: his ex-wife's late-night walks on the beach. He told cops that she’d venture out on her own, without her phone or any way to protect herself, like pepper spray.

Jonathan Todd told ABC News that there were some early theories that his sister might have experienced an injury or been kidnapped while she was on such a walk.

“Time became of the essence,” Jonathan Todd recalled about the investigation. “They're doing ground searches, they're searching neighborhoods, they're searching areas where she might've walked.”

Police spoke with someone who they suspected may know more: a local pastor whom Todd had previously encountered and prayed with during her beach walks. In fact, investigators learned he was on the beach the night Todd went missing.

He was cleared, however, thanks to a unique alibi that cops confirmed through surveillance footage: he had been watching a nesting sea turtle lay eggs.

When no other strong leads emerged, investigators returned to Williams for a second time, hoping to uncover more information. A polygraph Williams took was inconclusive and an interview with his girlfriend yielded little new insight.

Detectives continued canvassing the neighborhood near Todd’s house and eventually found something interesting captured on surveillance footage: the grainy image of a figure walking down the street the night Todd went missing.

Equipped with this footage, and expedited by the fact that Williams now wanted to move his daughter from Hobe Sound to North Carolina, detectives from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, including Lieutenant Carde, flew to North Carolina to confront Williams in person.

Finally, Williams claimed that he and Todd did have an argument at the rental home that resulted in him pushing Todd. He said she fell, hitting her head, and he panicked when he realized he would be blamed. At that point, he told investigators that he drove his unresponsive ex-wife to the side of a road and left her there with a granola bar and water.

Despite this admission, Carde said there still wasn’t enough evidence for investigators to formally charge Williams with murder. Knowing there was more to uncover, Carde and the other investigators convinced Williams to return with them to Florida to help them locate Todd’s body. Multiple attempts at driving Williams to different locations were unsuccessful as he repeatedly said he couldn’t remember where he left Todd.

“At the end of the day, I just wanted to give Tricia back to her family,” Carde said. “We just wanted him to show us where she was.”

Without proof that Todd was dead, police charged Williams with child neglect, for leaving Faith home alone the night in question, and brought him in for another interrogation, where he finally admitted that he killed Todd, alleging it had been an accident. He was subsequently charged with second-degree murder.

But investigators still didn’t know the location of Todd’s body. Williams was offered a plea deal that would reduce the sentence from a potential death penalty case to 35 years in prison in return for locating his ex-wife’s remains.

PHOTO: A still image from police video captures Steven Williams showing detectives the location where he dumped his ex-wife Tricia Todd’s remains.

“When he said we were going to need a hazmat team, our heart just sunk,” Carde said to “20/20.” Williams took investigators to Hungryland Preserve, where he buried Todd’s remains in a plastic tote box of acid.

“It was clearly premeditated,” Carde reflected. The discovery left prosecutors and investigators regretting their plea agreement with Williams.

Williams is serving the 35-year sentence civil authorities agreed to in the deal.

The Air Force declined to federally prosecute him for crimes committed off base while on active duty.

In a statement to "20/20," the Air Force said, "While the Air Force has jurisdiction over any DAF member for crimes committed while on Active Duty, if crimes occur off-base, then civil authorities can claim jurisdiction over the crime. Civil authorities claim jurisdiction in this case as it occurred off of the installation."

Faith, now 10, was adopted by and is living with Todd’s brother Jonathan and his family.

“We love telling Faith about who her mom was,” Jonathan Todd said. “[Tricia] was just authentic…so willing to give of herself for others…and we teach Faith about that.”
