Grand Banks – A Brief History

A Brief History Of Grand Banks and American Marine   (by Robert M. Lane)

If the boat named Spray were to motor slowly through an anchorage today it would turn heads in admiration and generate at least a million inquiries: What is it? Who built it? That straight stem and the beautiful sheer line would seem familiar to some. Others would find a teasing hint in the shape of the forward trunk cabin, with its teak trim and grab rails. The boxy saloon, with workboat windows, wouldn’t quite fit the mental picture of a yacht some observers would be forming. But then its perfect wood construction, the wire lifelines and stout stanchions, and the big cockpit would ring bells. What the heck is it? It’s a Grand Banks – and it isn’t.

In 1962, Robert J. Newton and his sons, John and Whit, were running a custom boatyard on Junk Bay in Hong Kong called American Marine, Ltd. Father and sons built heavy sailboats and big motor yachts, to designs by the world’s top marine architects – Sparkman & Stevens,William Garden, Nat Herreshoff, Ray Hunt and others. That year they commissioned Kenneth Smith, another well-known marine architect, to designa 36 foot, diesel-powered cruising boat. Spray was launched in 1963 and a year later the Newtons abandoned their custom yacht building to focus on producing the first of a line of boats that would be known as Grand Banks.  Even before Spray, however, there was the Chan tyman that American Marine built of wood in its Hong Kong yard.

Diesel-powered, the 34′ 6″ boat had a raised pilothouse, high bulwarks and softer hull lines (no hard chines). It was unlike Spray or the 36GBs that would follow, but Chantyman certainly was a design that introduced the concept of a production trawler-type yacht to the boating world.

few of the Chantyman line are still cruising, and every time one shows up at a Grand Banks rendezvous, everyone again asks, “What the heck is that?” Spray was the prototype of the line that would succeed. With some changes, such as a larger saloon and the addition of a flying bridge, its successor became the craft that sold the world’s boaters on a finely built, eight-knot trawler (although today’s GBs may be fitted with engines that make them run much, much faster). The general styling of the GB was seized by a score of other builders for fleets of look-alike yachts sold under dozens of names, but which could not match the quality of construction for which American Marine was famed.

Since 1965, the first model year, 1,124 of the 36GBs have been built by American Marine, first in wood at the Junk Bay yard and then, beginning in 1974, of fiberglass at a new factory in Singapore. (A footnote for history: American Marine made the switch from wood to fiberglass without telling its dealers or the public. It came as one big surprise to a boating world still somewhat suspicious of fiberglass.)

The GB36 is not being built this year, partly because of market demand for larger boats, which yield better profits. But American Marine says GB36 production will resume in 1999 and that the company is considering several improvements to the classic yacht, as well as “production steps” that will make it more profitable.

The 32GB, of which 861 were built, is out of production for similar reasons. Don’t expect it to come back, however.

Although Grand Banks yachts have maintained the same classic hull design from the beginning, variety has also been an important part of the history of American Marine. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, it built a line of pilothouse yachts called Alaskan. They ranged in size from 45′ to 55′, but production ceased after the 1973 model year when American Marine switched to a fiberglass construction. (Another footnote for historically fastidious: The 45′ Alaskan was a stretched 42′ and did not have a pilothouse. But it did have a flying bridge, which are found on only a few Alaskans.)

In 1971, American Marine designed and built a hot and luxurious express cruiser called theLaguna that was a haringner of the less-teak-is-better movement. There were two models, a 10 meter (33′) and an 11.5 meter ( a 38′ speedster priced at $72,000 in 1972). Both were powered by turbocharged V8 diesels (each with a fiberglass sound shield) that gave them a cruise speed of about 24 knots and a full-throttle rush to 30. The design may have been too radical for the market, as some believe. But its early demise after good sales for several years (171 boats) probably came more from potential buyer’s fear that they couldn’t find or afford diesel fuel for the thirsty engines. After all, they were introduced about the time an oil embargo sharply reduced the flow of gasoline and other fuels to the U.S., leaving motorists in gas station lines that were blocks long and sending pump prices soaring beyond belief.

As the economy staggered and interest rates reached into double digits, business expansion faltered and Laguna production ceased. Simultaneously, however, the world’s trawler builders, including American Marine, were praising the fuel economy of a low horsepower, single engine boat that could run a seson on a tank of diesel fuel. The Laguna died, while the trawlers kept chugging along, powered by thrifty Ford Lehman, Perkins, GM and John Deere diesels.

American Marine would later revive the express boat in 1993 with introduction of the 38′ Eastbay, a fast Ray Hunt-designed yacht powered with a pair of powerful Cat diesels. Once again, other builders copied success and introduced similar express cruisers to the boating market. Fuel supply or cost don’t concern go-fast boaters. The company was growing quickly, too quickly perhaps, in the early 1970s. It owned part or all of 33 dealerships worldwide and was involved in a number of business alliances, including a joint venture to produce a marine version of the John Deere diesel, the AmMarine. As the boating industry crumbled under the weight of soaring fuel prices and double digit interest rates, American Marine was soon facing bankruptcy. In 1975, control passed to a group of investors headed by Bob Livingston, who continues as chairman today.

American Marine is traded on the Singapore market under the name of Grand Banks Holdings,Ltd. It is difficult for U.S. residents to buy stock in the company, but some banks and brokerages will accept orders for stock on the Singapore exchange. And, by the way, Spray continues to cruise today. She’s on the Great Lakes now and every time she motors into a moorage someone probably asks, “What the heck is that?”

Navigate a bit of Grand Banks Yachts History

Back in the 50’s, Robert Newton and his two sons started a small boat-building venture in a little shed in Junk Bay along the Hong Kong waterfront. By 1962, they were running a custom boatyard they called American Marine, Ltd.  Father and sons built heavy sailboats and big motor yachts designed to specifications by the world’s leading marine architects.

Their desire for pioneering design, craftsmanship and beauty was exhaustive from the beginning, and has continued through the company to this day.

The company commissioned Kenneth Smith, another well-known marine architect, to design a 36’ diesel-powered cruising boat.  Spray  was launched in 1963, and was the prototype of the line that would succeed. One year later, the Newtons abandoned their custom yacht building to focus on producing that specific line of boats that would become part of Grand Banks Yachts.

After some changes to finesse the design, such as a larger salon and the addition of a flying bridge, its successor became the vessel that excited all the world’s boaters on a finely-built, 8-knot (at the time) trawler.

The general styling of the Grand Banks Yachts was mimicked by a score of other builders for fleets of look-alike yachts sold under dozens of names, but which could not match the quality of construction for which American Marine was famed.

In the 60s Harvey Halvorsen became the company designer, and in 1975 he formed a joint venture between Lars Halvorsen Sons Pty. Ltd. and the former general manager of American Marine Company to design, build and market a new range of pleasure boats worldwide. The company was called Kong & Halvorsen Marine & Engineering Company, Ltd.

Through the 60s and 70s, Tony Fleming served as the technical director. While there, Tony helped introduce the highly respected Alaskan series of raised pilothouse yachts.

Fast forward a few decades later, and in 2014, the company acquired Palm Beach Motor Yachts, with combined expertise resulting in a singular pursuit of perfection, beauty and performance.

Today, technology helps hone even more precise detailing. Grand Banks yachts and the character they represent appeal to discerning customers who have a passion for the water.

One could say the company hasn’t just led the yachting industry; they’ve changed it by introducing two popular vessel genres—cruising trawlers and Downeast express cruisers—forever altering how yachtsmen spend time on the water.

Grand Banks

Offering three lines of composite luxury yachts featuring traditional nautical styling and offshore capability, Grand Banks Yachts is headquartered in the U.S. Pacific Northwest.

Grand Banks’ genesis was with a company called American Marine, founded in 1956 by Robert J. Newton and his sons, John and Whit, in Hong Kong. American Marine built custom luxury yachts designed by noted naval architects.

In 1962, the Newtons commissioned naval architect Kenneth Smith to design an 11-metre, diesel-powered cruising motor boat with workboat lines called Spray. This yacht, which formed the prototype for the classic Grand Banks cruiser, was so successful that starting in 1963, the family focused on building the Grand Banks line. At first, they built their boats of wood in Hong Kong, then a decade later, began composite production in a new shipyard in Singapore. Now known as the Grand Banks Heritage Series, these models range from 13 to 16.45 metres.

In 1993, Grand Banks launched its East Bay Series of luxury yachts based on the design of a traditional Maine lobster boat. Today, the East Bay series ranges from 13.7 to 16.8 metres. Then, in 2001, Grand Banks introduced its Aleutian Series of Raised Pilothouse motor yachts in order to satisfy the demand from owners of smaller Grand Banks yachts ready to move up in size. The Aleutian luxury yachts range from 16 to 23 metres.

The most expensive home in Connecticut just traded hands for a record $138.8 million, according to press releases sent by the real estate brokerages who handled the big-dollar buy.

Located in affluent Greenwich, the home marks the most expensive residential property ever sold in state history — and even ranks among the nation’s current priciest sales, according to the Wall Street Journal , which broke news of the deal.

The deep-pocketed buyer has not yet been identified.

It’s also not the first sales record this property has broken. In 2014, it sold for a cool $120 million, which marked the priciest home ever sold in the United States at the time.

In 2019, billionaire hedge-fund mogul Ken Griffin broke the record for the priciest US residential sale with his $238 million purchase at 220 Central Park South in Manhattan, which still stands.

Known as Copper Beech Farm, the estate is a 50-plus-acre waterfront estate that spans almost a mile. It listed in February for $150 million.

Situated on a private peninsula 40 feet above the water, the estate overlooks the Long Island Sound.

On the property is a stately main house with walled gardens, a swimming pool, a grass tennis court, an apple orchard and two private beaches, the previous listing notes.

Additionally, there are several other buildings, including a carriage house, a gatehouse, a pool house and two greenhouses.

Originally built in 1898, the over 13,500-square-foot main home is made up of eight bedrooms and eight bathrooms.

It has been “meticulously restored” over the years.

Pegged as the “last Greenwich great estate,” the home is accessed by a long driveway lined with an allée of trees of cobblestones.

The house has a Victorian-inspired style with French Renaissance-style stone towers, blending in aristocratic refinement, the listing says.

Interiors of the estate have been described as “original museum-quality appointments,” which include oak paneling, plaster friezes, several fireplaces and 12-foot ceilings in the main rooms.

Leslie McElwreath, Joseph Barbieri and Nikki Field of Sotheby’s International Realty held the listing. Stephanie Bo Li of Douglas Elliman brought the buyer.

“Copper Beech Farm is the crown jewel of the Greenwich coastline,” McElwreath said in a statement. “It’s an awe-inspiring compound complete with every conceivable luxury for a sophisticated live, work and play retreat.”

“The opportunity to purchase a residence of this high caliber is a true rarity,” Barbieri added. “It was our honor to be charged with representing such an unparalleled, historic estate in one of the most coveted markets.”

Meet Dan Milstein: The Ukrainian-Born Super-Agent Representing Majority of NHL’s Russian Players

Dan Milstein is one of the National Hockey League’s most successful player agents. Milstein, and his Gold Star Sports Management Group, represent the vast majority of the League’s Russian players, including superstars such as Nikita Kucherov and Andrei Vasilevskiy of the two-time reigning champion Tampa Bay Lightning, future NHL Hall-of-Famer Pavel Datsyuk (currently playing in the KHL), and other notable NHLers – Nakita Zaitsev, Vladislav Namestnikov, Ilya Sorokin, and Canadian Evander Kane, to name a few.

This degree of success is impressive in and of itself; but Milstein’s personal and professional journey make his accomplishments that much more remarkable. Milstein was born in Ukraine, and naturally occupies a unique role in hockey considering the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. He was gracious enough to take time out of his busy schedule in order to answer some questions of mine over the phone.

Milstein was born in Kyiv, Ukraine in 1975 – while the country was still under Soviet control. He grew up 78 miles from Chernobyl, and was just 10-years old when the infamous nuclear accident occurred there. Milstein mandatorily evacuated the area soon thereafter, and briefly returned, but he and his family ultimately left Ukraine as political refugees when he was only 16.

Coming to America

Milstein came to the United States with “17 Cents and a Dream,” as one of his four books is titled. With only those 17 cents (enough to pay for the postage to send a letter back home) and a suitcase to his name, Milstein lived off of food stamps and in project housing when he first came to America. His family settled in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he got his first job – cleaning bathrooms at McDonald’s. Milstein also mentioned working a number of other odd jobs to help make ends meet, such as working on cars or delivering newspapers. He estimated that he spent about 20 hours per day between school and work at this stage in his life.

He told me a story of a competition held between a number of McDonald’s franchises in which employees could participate. Still in high school at the time, Milstein won the competition, and became manager of that same McDonald’s before he graduated. While undoubtedly thankful for these opportunities, Milstein still had his eyes set on a larger prize.

Milstein said that he would watch “nicely-dressed men and women” walking into a large building every day in Ann Arbor. He learned that this building was a bank, and was determined to work there. One day, as just a 19-year-old Cleary University student “in a t-shirt and flip flops,” Milstein entered the building and asked for an application. “Joe, I don’t know why they gave me the job, but they did.” Milstein became an assistant consumer lending manager at TCF Bank, and by the time he was 21, he had become the youngest general manager in company history.

As if this wasn’t enough for a recent political refugee to be achieving so quickly in a new country, Milstein still had bigger plans.

Building a Business

When Milstein was 24 years-old, he had the idea that he wanted to start his own business. He said that he liked the idea of making a decent living in the mortgage industry, but never could have imagined the success that would follow.

Milstein founded Gold Star Mortgage Financial Group in 2000. By 2013, Milstein had incredibly landed the company on the Inc. Magazine 5000 “Fastest Growing Companies” List on three occasions. Between 2009 and 2012, the company reportedly grew 292 percent, with revenues increasing from $15.3 million to $59.9 million. [1] Milstein had personally closed more than $3 billion in loans by this time, as he ascended to the rank of #1 Loan Officer in the United States (out of 550,000 lending industry professionals). [2] [3] The Gold Star Family of Companies now has more than 40 offices worldwide and closes more than $1 billion in home loans annually. [4] Milstein owns 100 percent of Gold Star.

As the company continued its exponential growth, Milstein naturally conducted business and established connections with high-profile entities in the area. His name became a well-recognized one, and one fateful referral dramatically changed the course of his life and career, yet again.

Gold Star Hockey: Transition to the NHL

Not far from Ann Arbor, in Detroit, a young Pavel Datsyuk was fighting for his spot on an historically-talented Red Wings roster that featured 13 future Hall-of-Famers. Milstein told me that Datsyuk did not expect to remain with the team after the 2001 training camp, especially after being selected in the sixth round, in his second year of draft eligibility, in 1998. In fact, Milstein mentioned that Datsyuk discovered that he was drafted by reading the newspaper and seeing his name listed. Nevertheless, legendary head coach Scotty Bowman told Datsyuk that he would be remaining with the NHL squad for the duration of the regular season. Bowman gave Datsyuk, a Russian native, Milstein’s business card, telling him that Milstein spoke the language and would be able to help him settle into the area. Milstein began working as Datsyuk’s financial advisor, and told me that they quickly became “best friends.”

Milstein did not officially represent Datsyuk, or any player, as an agent until 2015, though. Just one year after Milstein became Datsyuk’s agent, Datsyuk decided to retire from the NHL, and return home to Russia to finish his career in the KHL. Milstein had built his agency solely around Datsyuk, and Datsyuk’s NHL career had unexpectedly come to an early end. Milstein told me that he had to make a decision – continue representing NHL players and build out this new sports management portion of his business, or let it fall by the wayside and focus on the rest of the company. Needless to say, Milstein made the correct choice.

Gold Star Hockey, a division of the Gold Star Family of Companies, now represents more than 100 clients, amounting to a total contract value of over $300 million, entirely amassed since 2016. Amidst a host of extraordinary achievements throughout his life and career, this is truly one of the most impressive. Milstein did not represent a single player, aside from Datsyuk, before 2016, and now his clients account for the fifth-most active contracts by any current agent, and the tenth-highest total contract value.

When I asked Milstein what separates Gold Star from the competition, he replied that “we do everything.” He said that they essentially handle players’ entire lives – from scheduling doctors’ appointments, to watching and breaking down game film to improve on-ice performance. Most importantly, he noted, “I answer the phone on the first ring, just as I did with you.” Milstein says that it is this personal rapport that he develops with his clients that makes Gold Star’s services unique, and among the most desirable in the sport. 

Other Career Ventures and Recognitions

Milstein is the executive producer of “The Russian Five,” an exceptional documentary that highlights the journey of five Russian members of the Detroit Red Wings, as they revolutionized the game in the post-Cold War era. [5]

Milstein is also an international best-selling author of four books: The ABC of Sales: Lessons from a Superstar, 17 Cents & a Dream: My Incredible Journey from the USSR to Living the American Dream, Street Smart Selling: How to be a Sales Superstar, and Rule #1 Don’t Be #2. [6]  

Milstein has been recognized by a number of organizations, resulting in appearances on Crain’s “40 Under 40” list and DBusiness Magazine’s “30 in Their Thirties” list. The Hockey News ranked him as the #7 agent in the NHL in their 2020 Money and Power issue, noting that he was the youngest on the list of the top 15 agents. The Hockey News also ranked Milstein 64 th on their list of Top 100 People of Power and Influence in their 2019 Money and Power issue.

Ukraine-Russia Conflict

Milstein and I spoke just a handful of hours after he had provided ESPN with an extensive interview regarding the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Understandably, he did not want to rehash the answers that he had just given earlier in the day, and he kindly referred me to the ESPN article for questions on this sensitive topic.

Milstein told ESPN’s Emily Kaplan that his clients have been “experiencing ‘disturbing levels’ of harassment,” and believes that draft-eligible Russian players are being discriminated against. Milstein lamented, “we’re being set back 30 years. I have players calling me, parents calling me. They’re concerned whether they’ll be able to play, whether they’ll be safe.”

He went on: “while some of my clients can speak freely in the safety of being in North America, their family could be scrutinized back home and anything could happen. I’m a proud American, so I ask let’s come together united. My own childhood home is being bombed as I speak to my friends back home. I haven’t slept in six days because this is such a difficult time. But people are picking on the wrong crowd. I can speak on behalf of my clients: They want world peace like everybody else. They’re not being treated like that.”

Milstein mentioned a specific instance in which a client was told to “get back to your country,” and was called a Nazi by someone on the street. “Clients are being called Nazis. People are wishing that they are dead. These are human beings. These are hockey players. These are guys contributing to our society, paying millions of dollars in taxes to support the U.S. and Canada and doing all kinds of charity work back home. Stop being racist.” Milstein later told ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski, “people view German Nazis more favorably – and quote me on this – than Russians this week.”

Several of Milstein’s clients have supposedly received death threats, including one player’s wife, who posted an Instagram picture with the player and their infant daughter, and subsequently received a direct message saying that she had “Nazi kids.” 

He did remark that every NHL team has accommodated his and his players’ requests for additional security, and that he is “very grateful for” their cooperation.

Milstein represents 15 Russian-born players eligible for the 2022 NHL Draft, a number of whom have the potential to be chosen in the first round. He worries that the discrimination that many of these players are facing will negatively affect the players’ draft stock, which would in turn have financial ramifications for the players. Milstein continued, “this is pure discrimination. These are young men’s lives we’re talking about. Innocent young men who are now being punished.” On the idea of the junior hockey leagues potentially excluding Russian and Belarusian-born players from their import drafts, Milstein says this would “crush the dreams of these teenagers and potentially change the trajectory of their entire careers. . . I have several owners and general managers in those leagues telling me they disagree with it, but they are also telling me they can’t say this publicly because of the fear of public opinion.”

Milstein’s clients in the American Hockey League (AHL) and the various junior leagues have also expressed their concerns. One client, Belarusian-born and playing in the Canadian Hockey League, was allegedly booed by his own team in their locker room. The player reported the incident to management, and it occurred again within the next two days. Another CHL player was targeted with an anti-Russian slur during a recent game, according to a tweet from Milstein.

“People need to be aware that this is going on. This is racism and it needs to stop.” [7]

Dan Milstein has seemingly lived multiple lifetimes, achieving such a great deal in various areas of business, all while overcoming some of life’s most challenging obstacles. His drive and motivation are clearly unparalleled, but I was most impressed with his demeanor and the kindness that he showed me throughout our conversation. He had not slept in six days, yet still made time to speak with me, even while his childhood home was simultaneously being attacked. He was neither impatient nor short; instead, he was tremendously generous with his time, and genuinely inspirational to listen to.

I can certainly understand why so many players gravitate towards him – in just a few short minutes I experienced the interpersonal connection that has convinced dozens of NHL players to entrust him with their financial well-being. The current state of affairs between Ukraine and Russia surely presents a new set of challenges for Milstein, both personally and professionally. His dedication to his clients in the midst of such chaos is admirable, to say the least.

Milstein is the true embodiment of the American Dream. His journey is a prime example of what undying, tireless work can result in, even when emerging out of difficult or less-fortunate circumstances. The ongoing conflict will undoubtedly complicate his already hectic days; but he has not “called in sick since 1998, and dead or alive, I always work and I always answer my phone.” [8] It would be unwise to expect him to lie down now.

Northville's Dan Milstein turns 17 cents into hockey agency gold mine

It took Pavel Datsyuk only a couple of minutes to sign his voluntary retirement papers and email the documents to agent Dan Milstein to mark the end of his 14-year NHL career, which included two Stanley Cups with the Detroit Red Wings.

Milstein wasn't quite as fast relaying the documents from his home in Northville to Red Wings general manager Ken Holland and assistant GM Ryan Martin.

As Datsyuk's longtime friend, banker and manager who tried to talk the future Hockey Hall of Famer into staying in Detroit and fulfilling the final year of his contract, Milstein paused and considered the ramifications of pressing the send button.

"I sat there with my finger on the mouse ... and I froze," Milstein told The Detroit News. "This was something you only see in movies. I didn't think it was possible in real life. I froze because I knew history could be written differently. I let it go."

Milstein's email ended Datsyuk's NHL career in 2016 and sparked the beginning of one of the fastest-growing businesses in the sports management world, which has highlighted his Horatio Alger-type story of a Jewish Russian immigrant coming to the United States with 17 cents in his pocket in 1991 and living the American dream by building one of the largest mortgage companies not only in Michigan but in the country.

Gold Star Mortgage Financial Group, headquartered in Ann Arbor with 49 offices worldwide, branched off into Gold Star Hockey, featuring more than 100 clients, including 40 NHL players with a total contract value of more than $200 million. 

The list of clients includes Vezina Trophy winner Andrei Vasilevskiy of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Hart Trophy winner and Tampa Bay teammate Nikita Kucherov, both of whom signed eight-year contract extensions for $76 million each.

"He'll do whatever it takes to make you happy," Vasilevskiy said via text message before setting a franchise record this month with 61 saves in a 3-2 victory in the fifth overtime against the Columbus Blue Jackets, the fourth-longest game in NHL playoff history. "He helped me sign the biggest contract in my life. I think that's a great indication of his work."

Milstein's work has caught the attention of The Hockey News, which ranked him No. 7 this year among the top 15 NHL agents in the Money and Power issue ("Gold Star has quickly become a major player in the NHL"). He's also the youngest agent on the list at age 44 whose "influence is undeniable," especially among Russian players like Vasilevskiy, Kucherov, Vladislav Namestnikov of the Colorado Avalanche and Stanley Cup champion Ivan Barbashev of the St. Louis Blues.

His top prospects include Guelph Storm defenseman Daniil Chayka, projected to be a top-10 pick for the 2021 NHL draft, and Namestnikov's younger brother Max Namestnikov, the third overall pick by the Sarnia Sting in the 2020 OHL draft, which saw a record-breaking 12 American players selected from his Honeybaked U15 team.

While Milstein's agency is one of the fastest-growing companies in four years, he doesn't rank among Forbes' top-50 list of the world’s most powerful sports agents. The Hockey News' No. 1-ranked agent Pat Brisson, 54, of Creative Artists Agency, ranks 15th overall with contracts worth $1.1 billion and $42.9 million in commissions.

"I don't have a vision to be No. 1 ... and here's why," said Milstein, who has been the No. 1-ranked loan officer among 550,000 professionals in the industry. "In a very short period of time, we've been able to build an infrastructure. You have to build a runway before you land a 747. To me, being No. 1 isn't representing the most (players) or having the highest contracts. To me, being No. 1 is having positive experiences with your clients. I want them to be proud of their agent.

"If you would've asked me this question 10 years ago, I probably would've said, 'Of course, I want to be the No. 1 guy.' Everyone's going to be looking up to you. But this is not about the money as much anymore. This is about touching lives and making others be the best that they can be. That's what drives me now."

Key additions 

Milstein said he built the hockey-business infrastructure after Datsyuk's departure by making two key hires: Keith McKittrick and Alexander "Sasha" Tyjnych. 

McKittrick, who spent six years as Mike Babcock's video coach with the Red Wings and three years as director of hockey operations with the Michigan State Spartans, would watch and break down video at Datsyuk's home in Bloomfield Hills and also teach at Datsyuk's summer hockey school in his hometown of Ekaterinburg, Russia.

McKittrick said Milstein's "success as an agent is the culmination of a lot of his strengths as a businessman," including a straightforward, no-nonsense approach often supported by analytics and video analysis with potential hockey clients.

"I think people respect his directness," McKittrick said. "He does a good job of telling a story when it comes to business. We live in a world where players want answers. It might not be the answer you want but you're going to get an answer."

Tyjnych was the former backup goalie to three-time Olympic gold medalist Vladislav Tretiak on the Red Army-sponsored CKSA Moscow team, which won 12 consecutive league titles from 1976-88 coached by taskmaster Victor Tikhonov.

"I remember one game, we won 12-3 against the Soviet Wings and then he had us watch two hours of video and talk tactics after the game," Tyjnych said. "It was a different time, a different era. Tretiak and I didn't have a goalie coach. We created our own practices on and off the ice and found ways to become better players."

Tyjnych was already an agent representing Nikolay Zherdev of the Blue Jackets when he met Milstein and Datsyuk at the 2004 NHL All-Star Game in Minnesota.

"I work hard but Dan never stops," Tyjnych said. "Today, he's in Moscow. Tomorrow, he's in Tampa, New York, Toronto, flying, driving, in snow, rain. When he wanted to hire me, he took the first flight from Detroit to Ottawa and we talked about my experiences, my background, his experiences in his life. He was building a business and needed people who understood hockey and how to develop players and relationships."

Vasilevskiy, for example, was a client with Tyjnych at age 16 and wound up being selected in the first round of the 2012 draft by GM Steve Yzerman, who spent nine years building the Lightning into a Stanley Cup contender before returning to Detroit. Vasilevskiy's father, Andrei Sr., was also a goalie and Tynych's backup.

"Alexander found me in Russia and made me an NHL player," Vasilevskiy said. "He introduced me to Dan, who uses his business experiences to make sure I have everything I need in the future. They're a really powerful duo."

Tyjnych's difficult transition to North America in the Edmonton Oilers' organization in the late 1980s and Milstein's decision to finance "The Russian Five" movie about the Red Wings in the late 1990s highlights the hurdles that Russians faced in the past and how young players have benefited from the lessons learned by Tynych's teammates Igor Larionov and Slava Fetisov, as well as the younger Russians on those Detroit teams, Sergei Fedorov, Slava Kozlov and Vladimir Konstantinov.

"I never, never thought about playing in the NHL because I was proud to represent my country," Tyjnych said. "By the time I did come to play in Canada, I was older (31) and I had a few injuries. I would often practice three times a day under Tikhonov. In Edmonton and in Sydney (Nova Scotia), it was kind of confusing. I didn't speak English very well and I really wasn't mentally prepared to compete with the Oilers."

"Russian Five" producer Jenny Feterovich said the movie wasn't as much about telling the story of the Red Wings' back-to-back Stanley Cups in 1997-98 and Konstantiov's career-ending limousine crash as it was about shedding light on being a foreigner in Detroit and how the Russians felt like outsiders even in their own dressing room.

"When I pitched the project, I looked at Dan and said, 'This is a legacy piece,'" said Feterovich, who used to play soccer on Sunday mornings with Fedorov and his teammates in Oak Park. "'If we don't do it, who tells the story? Does it just die?'

"Growing up in the '80s, Russian Americans weren't much liked. We come from different places and want different things. It wasn't until both cultures meshed when these five players came here and learned about each other, about other people's ways and learning how to accept and trust each other did they finally win the Cup."

Director Joshua Riehl said "The Russian Five" story never would've been told without Milstein's guidance, patience and financial help as the executive producer throughout the four-year process.

"Jenny would tell me stories that she was the funny girl with the funny accent until the Russian Five came along," Riehl said. "Then it was, 'Do you know Sergei?' Then, she became popular. The cultural impact these guys had on what it means to be a foreigner in Detroit, in Michigan, in America can't be underestimated. Jenny and Dan understood it too because they lived it. I can only imagine what they went through."

Milstein downplays his role with the critically acclaimed independent documentary, which cost more than $1 million to produce and made more than $500,000 at the box office as well as revenue from network, cable TV and other worldwide distribution sources.

'Quality comes first'

He also said he doesn't feel like an outsider in the ultra-competitive, male-dominated world after negotiating some of the biggest NHL contracts.

(Of the 154 certified agents on the NHLPA website, only three are from visible minorities and three are women, including Emilie Castonguay, whose client Alexis Lafreniere is the No. 1-rated prospect for the 2020 NHL Draft and will likely wind up with the New York Rangers, who won the NHL draft lottery ).

Although he's published four books centered on the topic of sales, including "Rule No. 1 Don't be Rule No. 2," Milstein is very private about his personal life (he's married with children), has raised and donated millions of dollars to charitable causes and doesn't comment publicly about the death threats he received when Datsyuk returned to Russia because of injuries and to be closer to his family, including his teenage daughter from his first marriage.

Datsyuk said via text message from Ekaterinburg that "it's hard to believe" that Milstein has more than 40 NHL clients now but he's "not surprised at all because Dan loves people and is passionate about all the projects he takes on."

When asked what he's learned from his 19-year relationship with Milstein, Datsyuk, who was bypassed in two NHL drafts before taken by Detroit in the sixth round of the 1998 draft and then went on to record 918 points in 953 regular-season games and 113 points in 157 playoff games, said, "Don't rush. Quality comes first. He's a perfectionist, never satisfied and always strives for something greater."

Gold Star chief operating officer AJ Franchi has known Milstein for 12 years on the mortgage side and he said he's learned not to dwell on business mistakes.

"If a bad decision is made, it's way more important to talk about how you're going to solve the problem than how you ended up there," Franchi said. "How does he do it all? I hear that a lot outside of the company. I tell everyone that he's focused, he's very hard working and he hires good people and promotes from within."

Milstein said he doesn't plan on slowing down with his portfolio of companies while continuing to broaden his hockey client base.

Although the job seems glamorous in movies like Jerry Maguire ("Show me the money"), he said there's a lot of "sleepless nights" after traveling the equivalent of 13 times around the globe on hockey-related business last year and accompanying more than 18 NHL GMs and other executives to Europe.

With 800 NHL players making an average salary of $2.78 million dollars for a total of $2.2 billion dollars, he said there's plenty of business to go around with consolidation an industry trend with some older agents looking "for exit strategies."

"I've never forgotten where I came from," said Milstein, who was 10 years old when the Chernobyl nuclear plant blew up 78 miles north of his home in Kiev, Urkaine, forcing a mandatory evacuation in 1986 and eventually political refugee status. The 17 cents he put into his sock during the trip to America paid for postage to send a letter back home.

"I've been on food stamps, lived in the projects and taken jobs that were beneath some people (mopping floors and cleaning bathrooms in a McDonald's restaurant in Ann Arbor). I had $3,500 to my name and quit a well-paying job to do what I love to do. Every day, I wake up, put on my suit and knock on doors.

"Every morning, you have two choices: Continue to sleep with your dreams or wake up and chase them. I haven't called in sick since 1998 and dead or alive, I always work and I'll always answer my phone."

Agent for Russian-born NHL players says clients dealing with threats, discrimination after invasion of Ukraine

NHL player agent Dan Milstein, who represents a majority of the Russian-born players in the league, told ESPN his clients are experiencing "disturbing levels" of harassment and believes draft-eligible players are already being discriminated against because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

"The discrimination and racism these Russian and Belarusian players are facing right now is remarkable," Milstein told ESPN in an interview on Tuesday. "We're being set back 30 years. I have players calling me, parents calling me. They're concerned whether they'll be able to play, whether they'll be safe."

Milstein, who was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, immigrated in the United States in 1991 at age 16 as a political refugee. He is now a U.S. citizen and represents more than 75% of the NHL's Russian- and Belarusian-born players, including Tampa Bay Lightning stars Nikita Kucherov and Andrei Vasilevskiy and New York Islanders goalie Ilya Sorokin .

Milstein also represents Flames defenseman Nikita Zadorov , one of the few NHL players to speak out publicly against Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine. The 26-year-old Zadorov, who was born in Moscow, posted a "No War" message to Instagram on Friday. Zadorov is already experiencing repercussions from speaking out, including a flurry of derogatory messages to his account.

"While some of my clients can speak freely in the safety of being in North America, their family could be scrutinized back home and anything could happen," Milstein said. "I'm a proud American, so I ask let's come together united. My own childhood home is being bombed as I speak to my friends back home. I haven't slept in six days because this is such a difficult time. But people are picking on the wrong crowd. I can speak on behalf of my clients: They want world peace like everybody else. They're not being treated like that."

According to Milstein, one of his clients was on the road this week and was harassed by someone on the street.

"He was yelled at to, 'Get back to your country,' and was called a Nazi and other words," Milstein said. "Clients are being called Nazis. People are wishing that they are dead. These are human beings. These are hockey players. These are guys contributing to our society, paying millions of dollars in taxes to support the U.S. and Canada and doing all kinds of charity work back home. Stop looking at them as aggressors. Stop being racist."

Milstein said several of his NHL clients have received death threats. One NHL player's wife posted a photo of their infant child on Instagram, then received direct messages where she was told she had "Nazi kids," according to Milstein.

"My clients aren't as nervous for themselves," Milstein said. "But when they are on the road, and they have a wife and a newborn child at home that are alone, there are major concerns."

On Monday, the NHL put out a statement condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The NHL has suspended relationships with business partners in Russia and also paused the NHL's Russian-language social and digital media sites. The NHL also said it was "concerned about the well being of the players from Russia" -- something Milstein said the league has followed through on.

The agent said all teams so far have accommodated his and players' requests for extra security, something he said he is "very grateful for."

While Milstein believes his NHL players' employment is safe due to guaranteed contracts, he wonders about barriers for future players and future opportunities. On Tuesday, equipment manufacturer CCM said it would stop using Russian players in global marketing campaigns.

Milstein represents 15 Russian-born players in the 2022 NHL draft class that he projected to be selected, including potential first-rounders. He believes many of those players are already seeing their draft stock fall, and he wonders whether some will slip out of the draft altogether because of the war.

"Some hockey executives have already expressed concern in the upcoming draft whether those players will ever be able to come out [of Russia] and play, and some of them are concerned about the public opinion when certain players are drafted," Milstein said. "I try to understand the teams, and of course public opinion matters, but this is pure discrimination. And these are young men's lives we're talking about. Innocent young men who are now being punished."

The USHL and CHL are considering banning Russian players from being drafted next year, something Milstein said would "crush the dreams of these teenagers and potentially change the trajectory of their entire careers."

"I have several owners and general managers in those leagues telling me they disagree with it," Milstein said. "But they are also telling me they can't say this publicly because of the fear of public opinion."

Milstein also represents dozens of players across the American Hockey League and junior leagues in the United States and Canada who have also expressed concern in their current situations.

One of Milstein's clients in the Canadian Hockey League, who is Belarusian, was booed by his own team in the locker room last week. The player brought the incident to the attention of the general manager, and then it happened again within the past 48 hours.

"People need to be aware that this is going on," Milstein said. "This is racism, and it needs to stop."

50 Years and Still Selling

Dan Millstein, head of the coat and suit manufacturing company bearing his name, does not consider himself an old‐timer on Seventh Avenue.

“It's true that I have been in business for 50 years,” he said last week in an interview, “but I feel that I am still contributing fresh, new concepts to the women's fashion industry.”

Mr. Milistein decided late last year to shrink his business. In 1968 his volume was about $5‐million, but he found that to be too much to handle.

“The garment business, as we know it, is essentially a one‐man operation,” he said. “My mistake was that I did not public in the nineteen‐sixties and create an organization like Jonathan Logan or Puritan Fashions.”

Because he had not done so, he decided he would reduce the size of the business so that it could still be managed by himself. He moved out of two floors at 205 West 39th Street and into a loft at 262 West 38th Street. He now does a volume of about $2‐million a year.

“Why do I remain in business? Perhaps it is a matter of pride,” Mr. Millstein said. “I don't need the money for my own comfort, but many of my key accounts said: ‘Don't go out of business—we need you.’ Besides, I like to keep busy.”

These key accounts, which include all the Fifth Avenue stores as well as top department stores throughout the country, have remained loyal and continue to buy garments retailing from $125 to $300.

Mr. Millstein has moved with the times. Once primarily a women's suit manufacturer, he foresaw the decrease in demand for his product and placed more emphasis on co ats. He continued the suit line but added pants suits, shirts, sweaters and other ensemble items.

Mr. Milistein said he has not lost his fashion sense and still makes a yearly trek to Europe.

“I don't attend the couture openings in July but go in the fall to get the best of the ready‐to‐wear fashions,” he said. “I do look in on the couturiers. I was there last December and expect to go again next month.”

He maintains that cutting down on the size of the business has enabled him to give better value because his overhead is smaller. “Large overhead,” he observed, “is the downfall of many garment manufacturers.”

He said he has adjusted Ms thinking to that of the retailers who now generally do not depend on getting all their goods for a given season with one buying trip to the market.

“Retailers are buying closer to the vest, and that is the way I am operating.” Mr. Milistein said. “I will not become a warehouse for the retailer, and I will not put down tremendous orders for piece goods well in advance of the season.

“There is talk of a scarcity of wool fabrics, but somehow I manage to get all I need—if not from mills, then from secondary sources. It is better to pay a little more for the goods than to get stuck with heavy inventories. Piecegoods inventories along with heavy overhead have killed a lot of coat manufacturers.”

Mr. Milstein asserted that the International Ladies Garment Workers Union is the best friend a garment manufacturer ever had. He noted that the union has become more flexible as well as promotion‐minded in recent years.

“I don't believe in squeezing labor—that is not the way to success,” he said. “If you give the public what they want, you will stay in business. I have always be lieved in employing top designers and have been able to keep well abreast of the fashion picture,”

Mr. Milistein's views on the union have changed over the years. Back in 1923, when he started in business, he and other manufacturers fought the union. Following a major strike in 1927, however, he became a defender of organized labor.

Shortly after World War I, while still attending college, Mr. Millstein became a part‐time salesman for a coat and suit jobber.

Mr. Millstein tells the story of his first sale to Bainberger's in Newark, where the buyer gave him an order for six styles—probably out of pity for a beginner who really didn't know anything about the product he was selling. But Mr. Millstein was smart enough to show the Bamberger order to other store buyers on Springfield Avenue, and he ended that first day with orders for about 60 coats.

His first business venture was in a company called Millstein & Mann in which he put up $5,000 of borrowed money and his partner invested $25,000, It was outstandingly successful and profitable enough to survive the bank closings in 1933 and the rest of the Depression years.

During World War II, Mr. Millstein manufactured uniforms for the armed forces, obtaining priority orders for scarce fabrics from mills that were doling out goods by allotment.

Following the war he was one of the first New York manufacturers to go to Paris, where he was welcomed by Christian Dior and other fashion designers. At that time, one could buy a Paris original for $150. Today the price is closer to $3,000.

Mr. Millstein is in his seventies but looks 10 years younger. Until recently his golf handicap was 10, and he says he can still break 90 if he puts his mind to it. He is one of the founders of the Palm Beach Country Club, During the winter he plays 18 holes several times a week “without using a golf cart.”

He estimates that, during his career, he has manufactured five million coats, or more than 100,000 garments a year. At one phase of his career, he recalled, there was an excellent summer season in coats and he was known as the “king of white coats.”

He has an excellent collection of French impressionist art but refuses to say what It has been appraised for,

“I am starting to dispose of my collection, which picked up during visits to France,” he said.

Mr. Millstein is one of the founders of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and is active in Jewish philanthropies.

Strange Glow Over Moscow Skies Triggers Panic as Explosions Reported

B right flashes lit up the night sky in southern Moscow in the early hours of Thursday morning, new footage appears to show, following reports of an explosion at an electrical substation on the outskirts of the city.

Video snippets circulating on Russian-language Telegram channels show a series of flashes on the horizon of a cloudy night sky, momentarily turning the sky a number of different colors. In a clip shared by Russian outlet MSK1.ru, smoke can be seen rising from a building during the flashes lighting up the scene.

Newsweek was unable to independently verify the details of the video clips, including when and where it was filmed. The Russian Ministry of Emergency situations has been contacted via email.

Several Russian Telegram accounts said early on Thursday that residents of southern Moscow reported an explosion and a fire breaking out at an electrical substation in the Leninsky district, southeast of central Moscow.

Local authorities in the Leninsky district told Russian outlet RBC that the explosion had happened in the village of Molokovo. "All vital facilities are operating as normal," Leninsky district officials told the outlet.

The incident at the substation in Molokovo took place just before 2 a.m. local time, MSK1.ru reported.

Messages published by the ASTRA Telegram account, run by independent Russian journalists, appear to show residents close to the substation panicking as they question the bright flashes in the sky. One local resident describes seeing the bright light before losing access to electricity, with another calling the incident a "nightmare."

More than 10 villages and towns in the southeast of Moscow lost access to electricity, the ASTRA Telegram account also reported. The town of Lytkarino to the southeast of Moscow, lost electricity, wrote the eastern European-based independent outlet, Meduza.

Outages were reported in the southern Domodedovo area of the city, according to another Russian outlet, as well as power failures in western Moscow. Electricity was then restored to the areas, the Strana.ua outlet reported.

The cause of the reported explosion is not known. A Telegram account aggregating news for the Lytkarino area described the incident as "an ordinary accident at a substation."

The MSK1.ru outlet quoted a local resident who speculated that a drone may have been responsible for the explosion, but no other Russian source reported this as a possible cause.

Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Moscow with long-range aerial drones in recent months, including a dramatic wave of strikes in late May.

On Sunday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the region's air defense systems had intercepted an aerial drone over the city of Elektrostal, to the east of Moscow. No damage or casualties were reported, he said.

The previous day, Russian air defenses detected and shot down another drone flying over the Bogorodsky district, northeast of central Moscow, Sobyanin said.

There is currently no evidence that an aerial drone was responsible for the reported overnight explosion at the electrical substation in southern Moscow.

One of the largest and most expensive homes on Long Island's North Shore is up for sale again.

Located in the village of Kings Point, the eight-acre estate lies about 25 miles from Manhattan.

Much of that acreage is taken up by manicured lawns and gardens. Long, winding driveways lead to the several different structures situated on the property.

The main house was built in 1928 and is a turreted stone mansion, evoking much of the glamour and glitz of the Roaring Twenties.

It's since been updated many times over, and it has all of the modern luxuries one might expect at this price point.

In the time since the main house was built, two other guesthouses were added to the property, increasing the livable square feet to 60,000. According to the listing, there are now 18 bedrooms in total.

Tons of outdoor spaces have been built to enjoy the greenery.

The main house also has a ballroom, lazy river, hair salon, wine vault, indoor racquetball court, gym, spa, sauna, indoor pools, and even a two-story doll house. Another building houses a bowling alley, casino room, and even a shooting range.

The property's history is apparent in the backyard of the main residence, where old-growth trees have stood for nearly a century.

Multiple themed gardens are strewn through the property. A Japanese, English, and rose garden are all included.

The fountains and statues on the property were inspired by the Peterhof Grand Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia.

A full-size tennis court also sits on the property, though it appears the new owner will have to supply their own net.

Behind the main house, through the garden, and past the tennis court, you'll find another pool. This one has its own waterslide.

A private pier in the back juts out into the Long Island Sound and can accommodate a yacht up to 200 feet long.

For the first time Rosatom Fuel Division supplied fresh nuclear fuel to the world’s only floating nuclear cogeneration plant in the Arctic

The fuel was supplied to the northernmost town of Russia along the Northern Sea Route.

The first in the history of the power plant refueling, that is, the replacement of spent nuclear fuel with fresh one, is planned to begin before 2024. The manufacturer of nuclear fuel for all Russian nuclear icebreakers, as well as the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, is Machinery Manufacturing Plant, Joint-Stock Company (MSZ JSC), a company of Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL that is based in Elektrostal, Moscow Region.

The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactors of the icebreaking type. Unlike convenient ground-based large reactors (that require partial replacement of fuel rods once every 12-18 months), in the case of these reactors, the refueling takes place once every few years and includes unloading of the entire reactor core and loading of fresh fuel into the reactor.

The cores of KLT-40 reactors of the Akademik Lomonosov floating power unit have a number of advantages compared to the reference ones: a cassette core was used for the first time in the history of the unit, which made it possible to increase the fuel energy resource to 3-3.5 years between refuelings, and also reduce the fuel component of the electricity cost by one and a half times. The FNPP operating experience formed the basis for the designs of reactors for nuclear icebreakers of the newest series 22220. Three such icebreakers have been launched by now.

For the first time the power units of the Akademik Lomonosov floating nuclear power plant were connected to the grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020. The supply of nuclear fuel from Elektrostal to Pevek and its loading into the second reactor is planned for 2024. The total power of the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, supplied to the coastal grid of Pevek without thermal energy consumption on shore, is about 76 MW, being about 44 MW in the maximum thermal power supply mode. The FNPP generated 194 million kWh according to the results of 2023. The population of Pevek is just a little more than 4 thousand, while the FNPP has a potential for supplying electricity to a city with a population of up to 100 thousand people. After the FNPP commissioning two goals were achieved. These include first of all the replacement of the retiring capacities of the Bilibino NPP, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya TPP, which has already been operating for more than 70 years. Secondly, energy is supplied to the main mining companies in western Chukotka in the Chaun-Bilibino energy hub a large ore and metal cluster, including gold mining companies and projects related to the development of the Baimsk ore zone. In September 2023, a 110 kilovolt power transmission line with a length of 490 kilometers was put into operation, connecting the towns of Pevek and Bilibino. The line increased the reliability of energy supply from the FNPP to both Bilibino consumers and mining companies, the largest of which is the Baimsky GOK. The comprehensive development of the Russian Arctic is a national strategic priority. To increase the NSR traffic is of paramount importance for accomplishment of the tasks set in the field of cargo shipping. This logistics corridor is being developed due regular freight voyages, construction of new nuclear-powered icebreakers and modernization of the relevant infrastructure. Rosatom companies are actively involved in this work. Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL (Rosatom Fuel Division) includes companies fabricating nuclear fuel, converting and enriching uranium, manufacturing gas centrifuges, conducting researches and producing designs. As the only nuclear fuel supplier to Russian NPPs, TVEL supplies fuel for a total of 75 power reactors in 15 countries, for research reactors in nine countries, as well as for propulsion reactors of the Russian nuclear fleet. Every sixth power reactor in the world runs on TVEL fuel. Rosatom Fuel Division is the world’s largest producer of enriched uranium and the leader on the global stable isotope market. The Fuel Division is actively developing new businesses in chemistry, metallurgy, energy storage technologies, 3D printing, digital products, and decommissioning of nuclear facilities. TVEL also includes Rosatom integrators for additive technologies and electricity storage systems. Rosenergoatom, Joint-Stock Company is part of Rosatom Electric Power Division and one of the largest companies in the industry acting as an operator of nuclear power plants. It includes, as its branches, 11 operating NPPs, including the FNPP, the Scientific and Technical Center for Emergency Operations at NPPs, Design and Engineering as well as Technological companies. In total, 37 power units with a total installed capacity of over 29.5 GW are in operation at 11 nuclear power plants in Russia. Machinery Manufacturing Plant, Joint-Stock Company (MSZ JSC, Elektrostal) is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of fuel for nuclear power plants. The company produces fuel assemblies for VVER-440, VVER-1000, RBMK-1000, BN-600,800, VK-50, EGP-6; powders and fuel pellets intended for supply to foreign customers. As a subcontractor and supplier, we design unique interiors, such as dining rooms, cinemas, or sun decks, up to handmade mosaics in the master suite.(see reference project interior design for the luxury yacht “Lady S” ).

Be it a sun deck, a spacious sauna area, or a 20 m long dining table with refined details – our master carpenters will make every wish come true. In the past years, as a specialist for woodworkers of all kinds, we have already had the pleasure of working together with renowned shipyards and interior designers for giga yachts from 90m in length.

Our carpentry shop values fine woods and precise handcraft as well as the privacy of our clients. The pictures on this page should therefore be examples that reflect our standards as master carpenters for luxurious and unique woodworking.

Consulting Nobody knows the properties and design possibilities of wood better than our master carpenters. Your personal contact person will gladly advise you on questions of budget and time planning.

Sophisticated details

Extravagant and noble engravings are a specialty of the Heidenreich carpentry workshop in terms of yacht finishing. With a love for details, unique surface structures in the wood are highlighted or created as a unique pattern. Possibilities of interior individualization are limitless.

Refinement and varnishing

Engravings, precious natural woods with and without varnish, health aspects, precious metals such as gold highlight the high-quality effect of wood and wooden elements.

On-site assembly

For quality assurance purposes, the assembly process is supervised by a master carpenter, regardless of whether the new luxury yacht is in a German shipyard or a private harbor in Abu Dhabi. Our fitters speak excellent English and can cope well with short-term changes of plans. Our top priority is keeping to deadlines.

c) Verarbeitung

Verarbeitung ist jeder mit oder ohne Hilfe automatisierter Verfahren ausgeführte Vorgang oder jede solche Vorgangsreihe im Zusammenhang mit personenbezogenen Daten wie das Erheben, das Erfassen, die Organisation, das Ordnen, die Speicherung, die Anpassung oder Veränderung, das Auslesen, das Abfragen, die Verwendung, die Offenlegung durch Übermittlung, Verbreitung oder eine andere Form der Bereitstellung, den Abgleich oder die Verknüpfung, die Einschränkung, das Löschen oder die Vernichtung.

d) Einschränkung der Verarbeitung

Einschränkung der Verarbeitung ist die Markierung gespeicherter personenbezogener Daten mit dem Ziel, ihre künftige Verarbeitung einzuschränken.

e) Profiling

Profiling ist jede Art der automatisierten Verarbeitung personenbezogener Daten, die darin besteht, dass diese personenbezogenen Daten verwendet werden, um bestimmte persönliche Aspekte, die sich auf eine natürliche Person beziehen, zu bewerten, insbesondere, um Aspekte bezüglich Arbeitsleistung, wirtschaftlicher Lage, Gesundheit, persönlicher Vorlieben, Interessen, Zuverlässigkeit, Verhalten, Aufenthaltsort oder Ortswechsel dieser natürlichen Person zu analysieren oder vorherzusagen.

f) Pseudonymisierung

Pseudonymisierung ist die Verarbeitung personenbezogener Daten in einer Weise, auf welche die personenbezogenen Daten ohne Hinzuziehung zusätzlicher Informationen nicht mehr einer spezifischen betroffenen Person zugeordnet werden können, sofern diese zusätzlichen Informationen gesondert aufbewahrt werden und technischen und organisatorischen Maßnahmen unterliegen, die gewährleisten, dass die personenbezogenen Daten nicht einer identifizierten oder identifizierbaren natürlichen Person zugewiesen werden.

g) Verantwortlicher oder für die Verarbeitung Verantwortlicher

Verantwortlicher oder für die Verarbeitung Verantwortlicher ist die natürliche oder juristische Person, Behörde, Einrichtung oder andere Stelle, die allein oder gemeinsam mit anderen über die Zwecke und Mittel der Verarbeitung von personenbezogenen Daten entscheidet. Sind die Zwecke und Mittel dieser Verarbeitung durch das Unionsrecht oder das Recht der Mitgliedstaaten vorgegeben, so kann der Verantwortliche beziehungsweise können die bestimmten Kriterien seiner Benennung nach dem Unionsrecht oder dem Recht der Mitgliedstaaten vorgesehen werden.

h) Auftragsverarbeiter

Auftragsverarbeiter ist eine natürliche oder juristische Person, Behörde, Einrichtung oder andere Stelle, die personenbezogene Daten im Auftrag des Verantwortlichen verarbeitet.

i) Empfänger

Empfänger ist eine natürliche oder juristische Person, Behörde, Einrichtung oder andere Stelle, der personenbezogene Daten offengelegt werden, unabhängig davon, ob es sich bei ihr um einen Dritten handelt oder nicht. Behörden, die im Rahmen eines bestimmten Untersuchungsauftrags nach dem Unionsrecht oder dem Recht der Mitgliedstaaten möglicherweise personenbezogene Daten erhalten, gelten jedoch nicht als Empfänger.

Dritter ist eine natürliche oder juristische Person, Behörde, Einrichtung oder andere Stelle außer der betroffenen Person, dem Verantwortlichen, dem Auftragsverarbeiter und den Personen, die unter der unmittelbaren Verantwortung des Verantwortlichen oder des Auftragsverarbeiters befugt sind, die personenbezogenen Daten zu verarbeiten.

k) Einwilligung

Einwilligung ist jede von der betroffenen Person freiwillig für den bestimmten Fall in informierter Weise und unmissverständlich abgegebene Willensbekundung in Form einer Erklärung oder einer sonstigen eindeutigen bestätigenden Handlung, mit der die betroffene Person zu verstehen gibt, dass sie mit der Verarbeitung der sie betreffenden personenbezogenen Daten einverstanden ist.

5. Routinemäßige Löschung und Sperrung von personenbezogenen Daten

Der für die Verarbeitung Verantwortliche verarbeitet und speichert personenbezogene Daten der betroffenen Person nur für den Zeitraum, der zur Erreichung des Speicherungszwecks erforderlich ist oder sofern dies durch den Europäischen Richtlinien- und Verordnungsgeber oder einen anderen Gesetzgeber in Gesetzen oder Vorschriften, welchen der für die Verarbeitung Verantwortliche unterliegt, vorgesehen wurde.

Entfällt der Speicherungszweck oder läuft eine vom Europäischen Richtlinien- und Verordnungsgeber oder einem anderen zuständigen Gesetzgeber vorgeschriebene Speicherfrist ab, werden die personenbezogenen Daten routinemäßig und entsprechend den gesetzlichen Vorschriften gesperrt oder gelöscht.

6. Rechte der betroffenen Person

A) recht auf bestätigung.

Jede betroffene Person hat das vom Europäischen Richtlinien- und Verordnungsgeber eingeräumte Recht, von dem für die Verarbeitung Verantwortlichen eine Bestätigung darüber zu verlangen, ob sie betreffende personenbezogene Daten verarbeitet werden. Möchte eine betroffene Person dieses Bestätigungsrecht in Anspruch nehmen, kann sie sich hierzu jederzeit an einen Mitarbeiter des für die Verarbeitung Verantwortlichen wenden.

b) Recht auf Auskunft

Jede von der Verarbeitung personenbezogener Daten betroffene Person hat das vom Europäischen Richtlinien- und Verordnungsgeber gewährte Recht, jederzeit von dem für die Verarbeitung Verantwortlichen unentgeltliche Auskunft über die zu seiner Person gespeicherten personenbezogenen Daten und eine Kopie dieser Auskunft zu erhalten. Ferner hat der Europäische Richtlinien- und Verordnungsgeber der betroffenen Person Auskunft über folgende Informationen zugestanden:

• die Verarbeitungszwecke
• die Kategorien personenbezogener Daten, die verarbeitet werden
• die Empfänger oder Kategorien von Empfängern, gegenüber denen die personenbezogenen Daten offengelegt worden sind oder noch offengelegt werden, insbesondere bei Empfängern in Drittländern oder bei internationalen Organisationen
• falls möglich die geplante Dauer, für die die personenbezogenen Daten gespeichert werden, oder, falls dies nicht möglich ist, die Kriterien für die Festlegung dieser Dauer
• das Bestehen eines Rechts auf Berichtigung oder Löschung der sie betreffenden personenbezogenen Daten oder auf Einschränkung der Verarbeitung durch den Verantwortlichen oder eines Widerspruchsrechts gegen diese Verarbeitung
• das Bestehen eines Beschwerderechts bei einer Aufsichtsbehörde
• wenn die personenbezogenen Daten nicht bei der betroffenen Person erhoben werden: Alle verfügbaren Informationen über die Herkunft der Daten
• das Bestehen einer automatisierten Entscheidungsfindung einschließlich Profiling gemäß Artikel 22 Abs.1 und 4 DS-GVO und — zumindest in diesen Fällen — aussagekräftige Informationen über die involvierte Logik sowie die Tragweite und die angestrebten Auswirkungen einer derartigen Verarbeitung für die betroffene Person

Ferner steht der betroffenen Person ein Auskunftsrecht darüber zu, ob personenbezogene Daten an ein Drittland oder an eine internationale Organisation übermittelt wurden. Sofern dies der Fall ist, so steht der betroffenen Person im Übrigen das Recht zu, Auskunft über die geeigneten Garantien im Zusammenhang mit der Übermittlung zu erhalten.

Möchte eine betroffene Person dieses Auskunftsrecht in Anspruch nehmen, kann sie sich hierzu jederzeit an einen Mitarbeiter des für die Verarbeitung Verantwortlichen wenden.

c) Recht auf Berichtigung

Jede von der Verarbeitung personenbezogener Daten betroffene Person hat das vom Europäischen Richtlinien- und Verordnungsgeber gewährte Recht, die unverzügliche Berichtigung sie betreffender unrichtiger personenbezogener Daten zu verlangen. Ferner steht der betroffenen Person das Recht zu, unter Berücksichtigung der Zwecke der Verarbeitung, die Vervollständigung unvollständiger personenbezogener Daten — auch mittels einer ergänzenden Erklärung — zu verlangen.

Möchte eine betroffene Person dieses Berichtigungsrecht in Anspruch nehmen, kann sie sich hierzu jederzeit an einen Mitarbeiter des für die Verarbeitung Verantwortlichen wenden.

d) Recht auf Löschung (Recht auf Vergessen werden)

Jede von der Verarbeitung personenbezogener Daten betroffene Person hat das vom Europäischen Richtlinien- und Verordnungsgeber gewährte Recht, von dem Verantwortlichen zu verlangen, dass die sie betreffenden personenbezogenen Daten unverzüglich gelöscht werden, sofern einer der folgenden Gründe zutrifft und soweit die Verarbeitung nicht erforderlich ist:

• Die personenbezogenen Daten wurden für solche Zwecke erhoben oder auf sonstige Weise verarbeitet, für welche sie nicht mehr notwendig sind.
• Die betroffene Person widerruft ihre Einwilligung, auf die sich die Verarbeitung gemäß Art. 6 Abs. 1 Buchstabe a DS-GVO oder Art. 9 Abs. 2 Buchstabe a DS-GVO stützte, und es fehlt an einer anderweitigen Rechtsgrundlage für die Verarbeitung.
• Die betroffene Person legt gemäß Art. 21 Abs. 1 DS-GVO Widerspruch gegen die Verarbeitung ein, und es liegen keine vorrangigen berechtigten Gründe für die Verarbeitung vor, oder die betroffene Person legt gemäß Art. 21 Abs. 2 DS-GVO Widerspruch gegen die Verarbeitung ein.
• Die personenbezogenen Daten wurden unrechtmäßig verarbeitet.
• Die Löschung der personenbezogenen Daten ist zur Erfüllung einer rechtlichen Verpflichtung nach dem Unionsrecht oder dem Recht der Mitgliedstaaten erforderlich, dem der Verantwortliche unterliegt.
• Die personenbezogenen Daten wurden in Bezug auf angebotene Dienste der Informationsgesellschaft gemäß Art. 8 Abs. 1 DS-GVO erhoben.

Sofern einer der oben genannten Gründe zutrifft und eine betroffene Person die Löschung von personenbezogenen Daten, die bei der Strotmann Innenausbau GmbH gespeichert sind, veranlassen möchte, kann sie sich hierzu jederzeit an einen Mitarbeiter des für die Verarbeitung Verantwortlichen wenden. Der Mitarbeiter der Strotmann Innenausbau GmbH wird veranlassen, dass dem Löschverlangen unverzüglich nachgekommen wird.

Wurden die personenbezogenen Daten von der Strotmann Innenausbau GmbH öffentlich gemacht und ist unser Unternehmen als Verantwortlicher gemäß Art. 17 Abs. 1 DS-GVO zur Löschung der personenbezogenen Daten verpflichtet, so trifft die Strotmann Innenausbau GmbH unter Berücksichtigung der verfügbaren Technologie und der Implementierungskosten angemessene Maßnahmen, auch technischer Art, um andere für die Datenverarbeitung Verantwortliche, welche die veröffentlichten personenbezogenen Daten verarbeiten, darüber in Kenntnis zu setzen, dass die betroffene Person von diesen anderen für die Datenverarbeitung Verantwortlichen die Löschung sämtlicher Links zu diesen personenbezogenen Daten oder von Kopien oder Replikationen dieser personenbezogenen Daten verlangt hat, soweit die Verarbeitung nicht erforderlich ist. Der Mitarbeiter der Strotmann Innenausbau GmbH wird im Einzelfall das Notwendige veranlassen.

e) Recht auf Einschränkung der Verarbeitung

Jede von der Verarbeitung personenbezogener Daten betroffene Person hat das vom Europäischen Richtlinien- und Verordnungsgeber gewährte Recht, von dem Verantwortlichen die Einschränkung der Verarbeitung zu verlangen, wenn eine der folgenden Voraussetzungen gegeben ist:

• Die Richtigkeit der personenbezogenen Daten wird von der betroffenen Person bestritten, und zwar für eine Dauer, die es dem Verantwortlichen ermöglicht, die Richtigkeit der personenbezogenen Daten zu überprüfen.
• Die Verarbeitung ist unrechtmäßig, die betroffene Person lehnt die Löschung der personenbezogenen Daten ab und verlangt stattdessen die Einschränkung der Nutzung der personenbezogenen Daten.
• Der Verantwortliche benötigt die personenbezogenen Daten für die Zwecke der Verarbeitung nicht länger, die betroffene Person benötigt sie jedoch zur Geltendmachung, Ausübung oder Verteidigung von Rechtsansprüchen.
• Die betroffene Person hat Widerspruch gegen die Verarbeitung gem. Art. 21 Abs. 1 DS-GVO eingelegt und es steht noch nicht fest, ob die berechtigten Gründe des Verantwortlichen gegenüber denen der betroffenen Person überwiegen.

Sofern eine der oben genannten Voraussetzungen gegeben ist und eine betroffene Person die Einschränkung von personenbezogenen Daten, die bei der Strotmann Innenausbau GmbH gespeichert sind, verlangen möchte, kann sie sich hierzu jederzeit an einen Mitarbeiter des für die Verarbeitung Verantwortlichen wenden. Der Mitarbeiter der Strotmann Innenausbau GmbH wird die Einschränkung der Verarbeitung veranlassen.

f) Recht auf Datenübertragbarkeit

Jede von der Verarbeitung personenbezogener Daten betroffene Person hat das vom Europäischen Richtlinien- und Verordnungsgeber gewährte Recht, die sie betreffenden personenbezogenen Daten, welche durch die betroffene Person einem Verantwortlichen bereitgestellt wurden, in einem strukturierten, gängigen und maschinenlesbaren Format zu erhalten. Sie hat außerdem das Recht, diese Daten einem anderen Verantwortlichen ohne Behinderung durch den Verantwortlichen, dem die personenbezogenen Daten bereitgestellt wurden, zu übermitteln, sofern die Verarbeitung auf der Einwilligung gemäß Art. 6 Abs. 1 Buchstabe a DS-GVO oder Art. 9 Abs. 2 Buchstabe a DS-GVO oder auf einem Vertrag gemäß Art. 6 Abs. 1 Buchstabe b DS-GVO beruht und die Verarbeitung mithilfe automatisierter Verfahren erfolgt, sofern die Verarbeitung nicht für die Wahrnehmung einer Aufgabe erforderlich ist, die im öffentlichen Interesse liegt oder in Ausübung öffentlicher Gewalt erfolgt, welche dem Verantwortlichen übertragen wurde.

Ferner hat die betroffene Person bei der Ausübung ihres Rechts auf Datenübertragbarkeit gemäß Art. 20 Abs. 1 DS-GVO das Recht, zu erwirken, dass die personenbezogenen Daten direkt von einem Verantwortlichen an einen anderen Verantwortlichen übermittelt werden, soweit dies technisch machbar ist und sofern hiervon nicht die Rechte und Freiheiten anderer Personen beeinträchtigt werden.

Zur Geltendmachung des Rechts auf Datenübertragbarkeit kann sich die betroffene Person jederzeit an einen Mitarbeiter der Strotmann Innenausbau GmbH wenden.

g) Recht auf Widerspruch

Jede von der Verarbeitung personenbezogener Daten betroffene Person hat das vom Europäischen Richtlinien- und Verordnungsgeber gewährte Recht, aus Gründen, die sich aus ihrer besonderen Situation ergeben, jederzeit gegen die Verarbeitung sie betreffender personenbezogener Daten, die aufgrund von Art. 6 Abs. 1 Buchstaben e oder f DS-GVO erfolgt, Widerspruch einzulegen. Dies gilt auch für ein auf diese Bestimmungen gestütztes Profiling.

Die Strotmann Innenausbau GmbH verarbeitet die personenbezogenen Daten im Falle des Widerspruchs nicht mehr, es sei denn, wir können zwingende schutzwürdige Gründe für die Verarbeitung nachweisen, die den Interessen, Rechten und Freiheiten der betroffenen Person überwiegen, oder die Verarbeitung dient der Geltendmachung, Ausübung oder Verteidigung von Rechtsansprüchen.

Verarbeitet die Strotmann Innenausbau GmbH personenbezogene Daten, um Direktwerbung zu betreiben, so hat die betroffene Person das Recht, jederzeit Widerspruch gegen die Verarbeitung der personenbezogenen Daten zum Zwecke derartiger Werbung einzulegen. Dies gilt auch für das Profiling, soweit es mit solcher Direktwerbung in Verbindung steht. Widerspricht die betroffene Person gegenüber der Strotmann Innenausbau GmbH der Verarbeitung für Zwecke der Direktwerbung, so wird die Strotmann Innenausbau GmbH die personenbezogenen Daten nicht mehr für diese Zwecke verarbeiten.

Zudem hat die betroffene Person das Recht, aus Gründen, die sich aus ihrer besonderen Situation ergeben, gegen die sie betreffende Verarbeitung personenbezogener Daten, die bei der Strotmann Innenausbau GmbH zu wissenschaftlichen oder historischen Forschungszwecken oder zu statistischen Zwecken gemäß Art. 89 Abs. 1 DS-GVO erfolgen, Widerspruch einzulegen, es sei denn, eine solche Verarbeitung ist zur Erfüllung einer im öffentlichen Interesse liegenden Aufgabe erforderlich.

Zur Ausübung des Rechts auf Widerspruch kann sich die betroffene Person direkt jeden Mitarbeiter der Strotmann Innenausbau GmbH oder einen anderen Mitarbeiter wenden. Der betroffenen Person steht es ferner frei, im Zusammenhang mit der Nutzung von Diensten der Informationsgesellschaft, ungeachtet der Richtlinie 2002/58/EG, ihr Widerspruchsrecht mittels automatisierter Verfahren auszuüben, bei denen technische Spezifikationen verwendet werden.

h) Automatisierte Entscheidungen im Einzelfall einschließlich Profiling

Jede von der Verarbeitung personenbezogener Daten betroffene Person hat das vom Europäischen Richtlinien- und Verordnungsgeber gewährte Recht, nicht einer ausschließlich auf einer automatisierten Verarbeitung — einschließlich Profiling — beruhenden Entscheidung unterworfen zu werden, die ihr gegenüber rechtliche Wirkung entfaltet oder sie in ähnlicher Weise erheblich beeinträchtigt, sofern die Entscheidung (1) nicht für den Abschluss oder die Erfüllung eines Vertrags zwischen der betroffenen Person und dem Verantwortlichen erforderlich ist, oder (2) aufgrund von Rechtsvorschriften der Union oder der Mitgliedstaaten, denen der Verantwortliche unterliegt, zulässig ist und diese Rechtsvorschriften angemessene Maßnahmen zur Wahrung der Rechte und Freiheiten sowie der berechtigten Interessen der betroffenen Person enthalten oder (3) mit ausdrücklicher Einwilligung der betroffenen Person erfolgt.

Ist die Entscheidung (1) für den Abschluss oder die Erfüllung eines Vertrags zwischen der betroffenen Person und dem Verantwortlichen erforderlich oder (2) erfolgt sie mit ausdrücklicher Einwilligung der betroffenen Person, trifft die Strotmann Innenausbau GmbH angemessene Maßnahmen, um die Rechte und Freiheiten sowie die berechtigten Interessen der betroffenen Person zu wahren, wozu mindestens das Recht auf Erwirkung des Eingreifens einer Person seitens des Verantwortlichen, auf Darlegung des eigenen Standpunkts und auf Anfechtung der Entscheidung gehört.

Möchte die betroffene Person Rechte mit Bezug auf automatisierte Entscheidungen geltend machen, kann sie sich hierzu jederzeit an einen Mitarbeiter des für die Verarbeitung Verantwortlichen wenden.

i) Recht auf Widerruf einer datenschutzrechtlichen Einwilligung

Jede von der Verarbeitung personenbezogener Daten betroffene Person hat das vom Europäischen Richtlinien- und Verordnungsgeber gewährte Recht, eine Einwilligung zur Verarbeitung personenbezogener Daten jederzeit zu widerrufen.

Möchte die betroffene Person ihr Recht auf Widerruf einer Einwilligung geltend machen, kann sie sich hierzu jederzeit an einen Mitarbeiter des für die Verarbeitung Verantwortlichen wenden.

7. Rechtsgrundlage der Verarbeitung

Art. 6 I lit. a DS-GVO dient unserem Unternehmen als Rechtsgrundlage für Verarbeitungsvorgänge, bei denen wir eine Einwilligung für einen bestimmten Verarbeitungszweck einholen. Ist die Verarbeitung personenbezogener Daten zur Erfüllung eines Vertrags, dessen Vertragspartei die betroffene Person ist, erforderlich, wie dies beispielsweise bei Verarbeitungsvorgängen der Fall ist, die für eine Lieferung von Waren oder die Erbringung einer sonstigen Leistung oder Gegenleistung notwendig sind, so beruht die Verarbeitung auf Art. 6 I lit. b DS-GVO. Gleiches gilt für solche Verarbeitungsvorgänge die zur Durchführung vorvertraglicher Maßnahmen erforderlich sind, etwa in Fällen von Anfragen zur unseren Produkten oder Leistungen. Unterliegt unser Unternehmen einer rechtlichen Verpflichtung durch welche eine Verarbeitung von personenbezogenen Daten erforderlich wird, wie beispielsweise zur Erfüllung steuerlicher Pflichten, so basiert die Verarbeitung auf Art. 6 I lit. c DS-GVO. In seltenen Fällen könnte die Verarbeitung von personenbezogenen Daten erforderlich werden, um lebenswichtige Interessen der betroffenen Person oder einer anderen natürlichen Person zu schützen. Dies wäre beispielsweise der Fall, wenn ein Besucher in unserem Betrieb verletzt werden würde und daraufhin sein Name, sein Alter, seine Krankenkassendaten oder sonstige lebenswichtige Informationen an einen Arzt, ein Krankenhaus oder sonstige Dritte weitergegeben werden müssten. Dann würde die Verarbeitung auf Art. 6 I lit. d DS-GVO beruhen. Letztlich könnten Verarbeitungsvorgänge auf Art. 6 I lit. f DS-GVO beruhen. Auf dieser Rechtsgrundlage basieren Verarbeitungsvorgänge, die von keiner der vorgenannten Rechtsgrundlagen erfasst werden, wenn die Verarbeitung zur Wahrung eines berechtigten Interesses unseres Unternehmens oder eines Dritten erforderlich ist, sofern die Interessen, Grundrechte und Grundfreiheiten des Betroffenen nicht überwiegen. Solche Verarbeitungsvorgänge sind uns insbesondere deshalb gestattet, weil sie durch den Europäischen Gesetzgeber besonders erwähnt wurden. Er vertrat insoweit die Auffassung, dass ein berechtigtes Interesse anzunehmen sein könnte, wenn die betroffene Person ein Kunde des Verantwortlichen ist (Erwägungsgrund 47 Satz 2 DS-GVO).

8. Berechtigte Interessen an der Verarbeitung, die von dem Verantwortlichen oder einem Dritten verfolgt werden

Basiert die Verarbeitung personenbezogener Daten auf Artikel 6 I lit. f DS-GVO ist unser berechtigtes Interesse die Durchführung unserer Geschäftstätigkeit zugunsten des Wohlergehens all unserer Mitarbeiter und unserer Anteilseigner.

9. Dauer, für die die personenbezogenen Daten gespeichert werden

Das Kriterium für die Dauer der Speicherung von personenbezogenen Daten ist die jeweilige gesetzliche Aufbewahrungsfrist. Nach Ablauf der Frist werden die entsprechenden Daten routinemäßig gelöscht, sofern sie nicht mehr zur Vertragserfüllung oder Vertragsanbahnung erforderlich sind.

10. Gesetzliche oder vertragliche Vorschriften zur Bereitstellung der personenbezogenen Daten; Erforderlichkeit für den Vertragsabschluss; Verpflichtung der betroffenen Person, die personenbezogenen Daten bereitzustellen; mögliche Folgen der Nichtbereitstellung

Wir klären Sie darüber auf, dass die Bereitstellung personenbezogener Daten zum Teil gesetzlich vorgeschrieben ist (z.B. Steuervorschriften) oder sich auch aus vertraglichen Regelungen (z.B. Angaben zum Vertragspartner) ergeben kann. Mitunter kann es zu einem Vertragsschluss erforderlich sein, dass eine betroffene Person uns personenbezogene Daten zur Verfügung stellt, die in der Folge durch uns verarbeitet werden müssen. Die betroffene Person ist beispielsweise verpflichtet uns personenbezogene Daten bereitzustellen, wenn unser Unternehmen mit ihr einen Vertrag abschließt. Eine Nichtbereitstellung der personenbezogenen Daten hätte zur Folge, dass der Vertrag mit dem Betroffenen nicht geschlossen werden könnte. Vor einer Bereitstellung personenbezogener Daten durch den Betroffenen muss sich der Betroffene an einen unserer Mitarbeiter wenden. Unser Mitarbeiter klärt den Betroffenen einzelfallbezogen darüber auf, ob die Bereitstellung der personenbezogenen Daten gesetzlich oder vertraglich vorgeschrieben oder für den Vertragsabschluss erforderlich ist, ob eine Verpflichtung besteht, die personenbezogenen Daten bereitzustellen, und welche Folgen die Nichtbereitstellung der personenbezogenen Daten hätte.

12. Bestehen einer automatisierten Entscheidungsfindung

Als verantwortungsbewusstes Unternehmen verzichten wir auf eine automatische Entscheidungsfindung oder ein Profiling.

12. Einbindung von Google Maps

(1) Auf dieser Website nutzen wir das Angebot von Google Maps. Dadurch können wir Ihnen interaktive Karten direkt in der Website anzeigen und ermöglichen Ihnen die komfortable Nutzung der Karten-Funktion.

Da sich nur ein weiteres Türsystem auf dem Yachtmarkt etabliert hat, gibt es wenig Konkurrenz. Genau deswegen wird dieses spezielle Produkt allerdings in allen Kundenspezifikationen erwähnt, was es für ein anderes Unternehmen noch schwieriger macht, auf dem Markt Fuß zu fassen.

Dominik, gelernter Tischler, und sein Team wollten das Gewicht der bestehenden Kabinentüren reduzieren, die Wartung erleichtern und die Lieferzeiten verkürzen: „Ich hatte die Idee, und KAEFER sagte: Ja, das klingt plausibel, mach das mal. Wir haben konstruiert, gebaut, getestet – mit allen Höhen und Tiefen. Es ist sehr spannend und etwas ganz Besonderes, ein neues Produkt zum Leben zu erwecken.“

Das war keine leichte Aufgabe, vor allem nicht in so kurzer Zeit. Kabinentüren sind nicht das Gleiche wie Türen in einem Haus. Während das Aussehen und die Schalldämmung für die Kunden von größter Bedeutung sind, sind es die Brandschutzanforderungen, die bei der Entwicklung einer Kabinentür den größten Aufwand erfordern.

Prüfung der Brandsicherheit der KAEDOOR

Das Team vom Yacht-Innenausbau hat seine Köpfe zusammengesteckt und ein eigenes Portfolio an Kabinentüren entwickelt: KAEDOOR B-15.

In den vergangenen Monaten musste das Team Werften und alle großen Innenausbauer von KAEDOOR überzeugen. Dominik und seine Kollegen haben auf dem europäischen Markt buchstäblich an jede Tür geklopft und das Muster, die Testergebnisse und die Designflexibilität präsentiert. Ihre Argumente sind überzeugend. Stellen Sie sich eine große Yacht mit rund 60 Kabinentüren vor: Eine Einsparung von 600 kg allein in diesem Bereich ist für den Kunden sehr interessant. Zudem lassen sich die Ausrichtbeschläge im eingebauten Zustand justieren, was den Aufwand für den Eigner und seine Crew reduziert.

Mit dem nun vollständigen Portfolio ist KAEFER ein ernstzunehmender Lieferant für Innenausbauer. Die ersten Türen werden gerade bestellt, und sobald die Spezifikationen der Kunden aktualisiert sind, wird KAEDOOR hoffentlich Teil der nächsten Generation von Yacht-Innenausbauprojekten sein.

Der Yacht Innenausbau: Handwerk trifft Hightech

Dies ist Möbelbau der besonderen Art. Denn hier werden nicht einzelne Schränke gebaut, sondern ganze Einrichtungsmodule – eine komplette Pantry, ein voll ausgerüstetes Bad, und so weiter. Und das alles muss dann millimetergenau an Bord passen, wenn diese Module später in die Yachtrümpfe gekrant und dort festlaminiert werden. 

Geschafft! Das Endprodukt am Beispiel der BAVARIA C38.

Die Schreinerei für den Innenausbau der Yachten der Bavaria‐Werft ist beeindruckende 3020 Quadratmeter groß, 56 Profis arbeiten dort. Unterstützt werden sie von Hightech‐Maschinen, wie zum Beispiel vier großen CNC‐Fräsmaschinen, auf denen die einzelnen Teile aus den Holzplatten passgenau ausgeschnitten werden. Weiterhin wird hier mit zwei Format‐Kreissägen, einer Kantenleim‐Maschine und einer Lackstraße gearbeitet. 

Der Ablauf beim Bau dieser Möbelmodule für den Innenausbau ist technisch eigentlich relativ einfach. Er fordert aber viel Know‐how. Aus den Holzplatten werden die Teile gefräst, dann werden die Kanten mit Vollholzleisten beklebt, danach wird alles lackiert und schließlich zusammengebaut. Das alles passiert an insgesamt vier Montagelinien innerhalb der Schreinerei. 

Ist das Modul für die Yacht fertig gebaut, werden noch Klappen und Türen montiert. Abschließend wird das ganze Bauteil mit Möbelschutz‐Beklebung versehen, dann geht es auch schon zum Band, an dem die Yachten montiert werden. 

Präzisionsarbeit: Unsere erfahrenen Mitarbeiter wissen, dass es auf jeden Millimeter ankommt.

Vier Montagelinien innerhalb der Schreinerei sorgen für einen strukturierten Ablauf.

Die größte Herausforderung für die Tischler in der Schreinerei ist es, die Maßgenauigkeit einzuhalten. Und eine konstante Qualität, wozu natürlich auch gehört, dass beispielsweise die Laufrichtung der Maserung abgestimmt und eingehalten wird. Vor allem aber muss es am Schluss in jedem Detail passen! In der Yacht wird das Modul dann mit Winkellaminat am Rumpf festlaminiert. 

Doch bevor es soweit ist, braucht es noch reichlich Handarbeit in der Schreinerei. Das Zusammenbauen erfolgt von Hand, das Einpassen der Schapps und Schranktüren, das Anbringen der Beschläge, und, wo nötig, auch schon das Verlegen von Kabeln oder Schläuchen. Jedes Einrichtungsmodul wird hier, außerhalb des Schiffes, schon so weit wie nur irgend möglich fertig gebaut. Also inklusive Waschbecken und Armaturen, Lampen und Elektrik. 

Langweilig wird es hier daher nicht, bestätigen die Teamleiter Michael Walter und André Reis. Immerhin werden hier drei Module und mehr am Tag gebaut, pro Woche müssen in der Spitze mehr als 15 Boote komplett mit Einrichtung versorgt werden. Jedes Schiff hat, je nach Typ und Größe, sechs bis zehn solcher Einrichtungsmodule. Und um es interessanter zu machen, ist natürlich jedes Schiff unterschiedlich. Die Eigner haben bei der Bestellung die Wahl: 14 verschiedene Holzarten für den Yachtinnenausbau alleine stehen zur Auswahl, dazu dann natürlich auch das Material der Arbeitsflächen oder Polsterstoffe. 

Alle Teile des Moduls werden von Hand zusammengebaut und eingepasst.

Das fertige Modul wird in den Rumpf gekrant und dort festlaminiert.

Das alles würde ohne präzise Planung nicht funktionieren. Der Produktionsplan für die gesamte Werft gibt vor, welche Module für den Innenausbau wann und wie gebaut werden: Welches Boot, welche Kabine, welche Holzart, welche Optionen, also welche Inneneinrichtung.

Bereichsleiter Michael Werdler erklärt, warum trotz, oder gerade wegen, einer komplexen Bauweise eine solche moderne Serienfertigung von großem Vorteil ist: „Es geht darum, die Qualität replizierbar zu machen. Denn die soll ja immer gleichbleibend hoch sein. Daher lassen wir auch die Mitarbeiter zwischen den einzelnen Stationen immer mal wechseln, denn auch die Abläufe sollen für alle nachvollziehbar sein. Und jeder soll an jeder Stelle arbeiten können, wir brauchen keine Spezialisten für Küchen oder für Salons oder was auch immer. Einfach nur gute Schreiner.“
