U.S. sanctions Houthi-linked vessel Lady Sofia

Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian E. Nelson: “We remain committed to disrupting the IRGC-QF and the Houthis’ attempts to evade U.S. sanctions and fund additional terrorist attacks.”

Continuing to try to stem the flow of Iranian funding to the Houthis, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) took action March 15 against a Mumbai-headquartered, Marshall Islands-registered, shipping company Vishnu Inc. , saying that its vessel, the Lady Sofia, has been involved in illicit shipments to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in support of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force (IRGC-QF) and Houthi financial facilitator Sa’id al-Jamal, who is sanctioned under U.S. counterterrorism authorities.

“We remain committed to disrupting the IRGC-QF and the Houthis’ attempts to evade U.S. sanctions and fund additional terrorist attacks,” said Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian E. Nelson . “The United States will continue to target the key funding streams that threaten civilians and peaceful international trade.”

AIS SPOOFING

According to the Equasis data base, the Lady Sofia is a 160,383 dwt, 2021-built, Panama-registered crude oil tanker. Treasury says that, on January 31, 2024, the Lady Sofia engaged in a ship-to-ship transfer with the recently sanctioned vessel Mehle , which deceptively obscured its transfer of commodities to the Lady Sofia through AIS spoofing.

“Disguised as a fictitious vessel called the “ Amo r,” and incorrectly broadcasting its location as the South China Sea, the Mehle offloaded its illicit cargo to the Lady Sofia near Singapore,“ says Treasury. “The Lady Sofia is currently traveling to the PRC, carrying the Iranian commodities it received from the Mehle on behalf of Sa’id al-Jamal.

The Mehle was identified on January 12, 2024, as property in which Cielo Maritime Ltd has an interest. Cielo Maritime Ltd was concurrently designated , for having materially assisted, sponsored, or provided financial, material, or technological support for, or goods or services to or in support of, Sa’id al-Jamal.

Vishnu Inc. is being designated pfor having materially assisted, sponsored, or provided financial, material, or technological support for, or goods or services to or in support of, Sa’id al-Jamal. The Lady Sofia is being identified as property in which Vishnu Inc. has an interest.

SANCTIONS IMPLICATIONS

As a result of OFAC’s action, all property and interests in property of the designated person described above that are in the United States or in the possession or control of U.S. persons are blocked and must be reported to OFAC. In addition, any entities that are owned, directly or indirectly, individually or in the aggregate, 50 percent or more by one or more blocked persons are also blocked. Unless authorized by a general or specific license issued by OFAC, or exempt, OFAC’s regulations generally prohibit all transactions by U.S. persons or within (or transiting) the United States that involve any property or interests in property of designated or otherwise blocked persons.

In addition, financial institutions and other persons that engage in certain transactions or activities with the sanctioned entity and its blocked property may expose themselves to sanctions or be subject to an enforcement action. The prohibitions include the making of any contribution or provision of funds, goods, or services by, to, or for the benefit of any designated person, or the receipt of any contribution or provision of funds, goods, or services from any such person.

Motor yachts Koi and Lady Sofia for charter with bluewater

Charter Manager Rebecca Cutter at bluewater sends news of two recently signed motor yacht central agencies for charter in the Mediterranean this summer, the 35m Koi and 24 m Lady Sofia .

The explorer yacht Koi (ex- Surprise ) was originally built in 2001 by McMullen and Wing and has since been totally refitted in 2009 & 2011, with a completely new interior. She offers luxurious accommodation for up to 8 guests in four lavish suites, including a full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck, two further double staterooms and a twin cabin with Pullman berth for a ninth guest if required.

Koi boasts capacious deck space with fully cushioned lounging areas, a sun bathing area forward and 3 sun beds aft (all furniture in varnished teak) in addition to dining for 10 on the sundeck with wet bar and optional roll out sun awning,. Down to the gym deck, again you will find fully cushioned seating and sunbathing areas plus a large drop down TV which makes this an ideal outdoor movie area. The aft deck offers another additional dining area under cover.

With an array of water toys and equipment that is second to none, a flexible owner and open calendar Koi has a competitive weekly charter rate of €72,500.

Lady Sofia is a prime example of the Ferretti 80 motor yacht series that combines speed and agility in a surprisingly spacious yacht. Constantly updated and upgraded she is in great condition with a pro-charter owner and captain eager to promote her for a successful summer season.

Her large deck spaces offer a perfect combination of sunshine and shade with ample sun pads for lounging and an al fresco dining area that can seat up to 15 guests (in port). Her interior shows off all the fine skills of Ferretti’s craftsmanship finished with cream soft furnishing and beautiful cherry wood, and includes an open plan saloon with separate dining area for her eight guests. Two double and two twin cabins below deck, all en-suite, offer a peaceful and lavish haven to escape at the end of a fun filled day.

Lady Sofia has accommodation for eight guests and a weekly charter rate of €27,000.

CAPTAIN - Nikos Papadias (Greek) Captain Nikos was born in 1981 in Piraeus and he is married. He counts over 16 years of experience in the yachting industry. Among other diplomas, he holds the Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers School of Aspropyrgos (STCW), Proficiency in Survival Craft & Rescue Boat and Certificate First Aid. Captain Nikos is a very cooperative and patient person, always driven by the intention to enhance his skills. In his free time, he likes fishing, water sports and spending time with his family. He speaks Greek and English. CHEF - Georgiana Stanciu (Romanian) Georgiana was born in 1974 in Bucharest. She holds a MSc in Food Chemistry of the University of Bucharest. She has more than 15 years of experience as a stewardess at five-star hotels and cruise ships and more than five years in the yachting industry. Also, she is a great and passionate cooker specialized in Mediterranean cuisine. Georgiana displays a high level of attention to detail and organization which are essential attributes for her role. Guests will enjoy her hospitality skills, her delicious dishes, and her kind personality. She speaks Greek, Romanian, English fluently, French and German. STEWARDESS - Popy Sdrali (Greek) Popy is 43 years old and has excellent service skills having worked many years in Four Seasons Astir Palace. Most expenses are deducted from an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), a fund that is added on top of the charter price. The expenses, such as provisioning, fuel, marina fees, are deducted from the APA. The APA is based on the price of the yacht and ranges from 15% (crewed sailing yachts) to 30% (motor yachts with higher fuel consumption). You can actively control these expenses in your preference sheet (local vs. imported beverages) and by choice of itinerary (distances traveled). LADY S Yacht – Astonishing $180M Superyacht

LADY S yacht is a 93-meter (305.1 ft) luxury yacht built by the Dutch shipyard Feadship in 2019.

She was delivered to her owner, the American billionaire, for a reported price of US $180 million.

LADY S is currently available for charter and is ranked in 69th place on the list of the largest yachts in the world.

Reymond Langton Design worked on the interior of LADY S. The London-based design duo has worked on superyachts such as AVIVA and KISMET in the past.

LADY S yacht can welcome twelve guests in seven cabins, including a spacious master suite, four VIP cabins, and two twins, making her a fantastic family-friendly yacht.

Onboard LADY S guests can enjoy features such as a basketball court, a glass-bottom pool, a steam room, an IMAX cinema, and a gym.

Each cabin features 8k flatscreen TVs and modern entertainment systems. 31 crew members are available to tend to the needs of guests and fulfill their every wish on board LADY S.

LADY S specifications

The LADY S yacht is 93 meters (305.1 ft) long with a 14.1 meter (46.3 ft) beam and a 3.9 meter (12.1 ft) draft.

Her cruising speed lies at 14 knots, and her maximum speeds go as high as 18 knots. The weight of LADY S is 2,999 tons, and she is powered by twin CAT engines.

The high-profile designer Michael Leach worked on the exterior of LADY S. The yacht has a large helipad on the top deck, while the bow is reserved for sunbathing or storage if required.

She has a jacuzzi on the aft as well as a spacious beach club that can be opened on several sides to provide a seamless transmission between indoor and outdoor living.

LADY S carries at least two Tenderworks tenders both painted red to match the color of Snyder’s NFL team .

LADY S is an all-white yacht with large tinted windows which allow guests to have complete privacy while on board.

The owner of LADY S purchased the superyacht for a price of US $180 million in 2019.

She generates a further US $10 to 15 million in running costs every year depending on usage. She is currently available for charter at a rate of US $1.47 million per week.

Lady Jorgia: 74m superyacht formerly known as ‘Odyssey II’ now for charter

Sold and renamed earlier this month, the multi-award-winning 74m (243’) superyacht ‘Lady Jorgia’ is now a luxury yacht for charter . 

Formerly known as Odyssey II, Odyssey and Cloud 9, Lady Jorgia is a popular superyacht with a glowing charter reputation.

She has a variety of stand-out features, including a glass-bottomed pool, a beach club with fold-out terraces and indoor and outdoor cinema set-ups. 

She will be offering Mediterranean yacht charters during the summer months, and will be available in multiple destinations in the winter.

The motor yacht was launched by CRN in 2017, and she features interior styling from the esteemed Winch Design and exteriors by Zuccon. 

The yacht offers versatile accommodation for up to 12 guests in eight cabins, with two of her cabins converting from twin to king-size and vice-versa, plus a staff cabin for two.

She also features an expansive Owner’s suite with a private deck lounging area and alfresco cinema set-up. She has provision for a crew of 22.

The yacht a variety of stand-out features, including a glass-bottomed pool, a beach club with fold-out terraces and indoor and outdoor cinema set-ups.

Luxury yacht Lady Jorgia has a superb open-plan layout that provides a continuous connection between the inside and the outside, and a refined beachouse-style theme. Interior highlights include a fully-equipped gym and a hair salon with an exterior massage area positioned on the fold-down balcony.

In terms of alfresco living, Lady Jorgia offers a huge foredeck area for relaxing and entertaining and a great variety of spaces across her aft decks. She is crowned by a sundeck with spa pool.

Her main deck pool has the capacity to hold 10,000 litres of water, and the pool features spa jets and glass segments that allow light to flood into the beach club below. The beach club is drenched in light as a result, and also has fold-out balconies that allow guests to feel even closer to the water.
