Welcome to “the South’s Finest Yacht Club”. Pensacola Yacht Club is located at 1897 Cypress Street in downtown Pensacola, Florida.

The Pensacola Yacht Club, chartered in 1908, is a private club for members and their guests to organized navigation, safety, and recreational water activities. Now, members and their families also enjoy a full service restaurant, bar, banquet and meeting rooms, a beach, a marina, and a swimming pool overlooking Pensacola Bay as part of their membership benefits.

With it’s breathtaking views, elegant décor, and award-winning cuisine, Pensacola Yacht Club is an exceptional venue for a private party, banquet, meeting, wedding or wedding reception.

Pensacola Yacht Club

The Pensacola Yacht Club is a yachting enthuiasts' organization. Its current headquarters are located at 1897 Cypress Street in the Sanders Beach area, at the mouth of Bayou Chico .

History [ edit ]

The club was organized in 1908 as the Pensacola Yacht and Motor Boat Club and officially chartered as the Pensacola Yacht Club two years later. [1]

The club's first headquarters was on the second floor of the Fisher Building. The club moved several times in its early history: first to the wharf on the Baylen Street Yacht Basin, then again to the Bar Pilots Building on South Palafox Street , then the Aiken Towing Company Building . In 1922 , the club purchased the U.S. Army transport General Wilson and used its as its clubhouse until it was destroyed by fire in 1925 . Thereafter, the club returned to Palafox Wharf until 1948 , when the club's present property was purchased from the estate of J. M. Muldon . [1]

Anyone know what benefits a membership at PYC holds? I've tried calling the Club to ask them but, no one answers...

I am a little surprised that no one answers, but it is possible that Sunday and Monday the office is closed. PYC has a very nice restraunt (for members and guests). They have a bar. The ramp is iffy, and I am not sure about the crane currently. There is a pool, junior sailing program. There are a number of sailors, power boat members and members who only use it as a social club. There are docks-but these are exposed to the winds of Pensacola Bay much of the time. There is reciprocity with both Florida Council of Yacht clubs--and Gulf Coast Yachting association. This means that free dockage for a couple of days, at the reciprocity yacht clubs, and you can charge meals and bar tabs there. This includes Southern in New Orleans, one in Houston/Clear Lake area, Mississippi, Fort Walton, Destin, etc. In South Florida there are about 70 clubs, including some pretty fancy places which have reciprocity. There are dances, social events, cruises and a chance to volunteer with national sailing programs. Not much in the way of fising. There is a race to Isla Mujeres Mexico every other year. I belonged for about 8 years, and gave it up when I got out of bigger power cruisers. Nice people, social atmosphere. Dues are not real high, but when I left there were a number of assesments, for new buildings, new kitchen, new pool, new docks--and I ended up eating out there exclusively because of the charge for food monthly. There is also a buy in to the club--at this time I believe it is a non equity club--that is a new member will not own any of the property--and have no residual value when he leaves.

I used to belong to Pensacola Beach Yacht Club and visited PYCmany times for races, parties, etc. and to just hang out and have a drink at the bar. Grand Lagoon Yacht Club on Gulf Beach Highway is another local option and is also a member of the GYA. Very reasonable rates, great resturant and bar,and the closest ramp in town to the pass (other than Sherman Cove).

Membership Classifications

Six classes of membership are available:.

• Active members
• Transitional Active members (age 21-39 inclusive)
• Non-Resident members (outside the radius of 200 statute miles of the Club)
• Legacy Member
• Corporate Member

Membership Process

PYC host a Prospective Member Night, this is an excellent way to learn about PYC activities and have all your questions answered as well as complete the application process. Once the PYC Membership application is completed, return it to the PYC office with the required deposits and supporting information. The application will then be posted in the clubhouse for two weeks prior to the next scheduled monthly Board of Directors meeting. After Board action you will be notified and may begin enjoying your membership in “The South’s Finest Yacht Club”.

Member Class: Voting

Regular active members.

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Full use of club facilities
• May rent wet slips and dry storage space
• May check out and use club boats
• Reciprocity with other yacht clubs
• Have voting privileges at general member meetings
• May attend open portions of all Directors meetings
• May hold office on the Board of Directors or as Flag Officer

Member Class: Non-voting

Transitional active membership.

• Must be between the ages of 21 and 39
• Upon reaching the age of 40, automatically convert to
• Regular Active Membership
• Reduced dues
• May not vote or hold office on the Board of Directors or as a Flag Officer

Non-Resident Members (Non-Voting)

• Primary residence must be outside a radius of 100 statute miles of PYC
• Must be 21 years of age
• May not hold office on the Board of Directors or as a Flag Officer

Corporate Members (Non-Voting) 

• Two approved Employee members
• Full use of clubhouse & activities, pool & tennis courts
• May not rent wet slips and dry storage space
• May not check out club boats
• No Reciprocity with other yacht clubs
