Can We Bring More People Than We Planned?

If you unexpectedly end up wanting to bring more people than initially planned, it is sometimes possible for you to do so. Contact us, and we’ll make sure that it is alright. 

However, you can never bring more people than the yacht you have chosen will allow. So, if the limit is 12 and you already have 12 people coming, you won’t be able to bring any additional guests. 

What Safety Practices Are In Place?

Anchor has  numerous safety practices in place on every one of our rentals. The first has already been discussed, as our limit on the number of people helps keep everyone safe. Besides this, our captains are instructed to follow our policy of “safety first… fun second” and, thus, will constantly be on the lookout for anything that could threaten the safety of your group. 

What If the Weather Is Bad?

Our policy states that our yacht rentals will not be canceled based on the weather forecast. They can only be canceled by the captain if they deem that the weather presents a safety hazard. In most cases, this means simply waiting out a patch of bad weather in favor of some good weather afterward. 

However, if the weather does get bad enough to warrant a full cancellation, we can reschedule your rental. To do this, we’ll issue you a voucher that you can use to book a rental of the same or less cost within 365 days.

Cruise to Malibu for an epic yacht day! Anchoring locations may be in front of Carbon Beach, or Paradise Cove. This is the best place in the Santa Monica Bay to enjoy the sea and sunshine. You'll have a beautiful coastal cruise to begin, passing the beaches of Venice, Santa Monica, and the Pacific Palisades. After arriving in Malibu, the captain will find a stunning cliffside protected anchorage. We understand not everyone has their sea-legs so if anyone tends to get motion sick or seasick, or if you aren’t sure, we recommend planning ahead and choosing a remedy you’re comfortable with before you board. Your captain has full authority over the route and destination based on the conditions. While uncommon there are instances where weather and sea conditions may prevent the charter from sticking to the planned itinerary. If the weather or sea conditions are extreme, the captain will decide if it is unsafe to proceed and we will work with you to reschedule for another available day.

Can we bring our own food aboard?

Yes!  We have a fridge, freezer, ice maker, cooler and grill. 

Plenty of room for whatever you're looking to drink and snack on.

Can we bring alcohol aboard Bella?

It would be weird if you didn't. As long as guests are over 21, you are welcome to bring and drink whatever you like.

Is Bella kid-friendly?

Absolutely, guests of all ages are welcome.

If anyone has a tendency to get motion sick or sea sick, please be sure to take something ahead of time.

Is Bella dog-friendly?

While we love our dogs, it is not appropriate to have them aboard.  Space is limited and they can shed a lot.

Out of respect to ALL guests, we ask that you leave your furry friend at home, ESA's included.

How many people can we have in our group?

12 Max.  1-6 guests for our Standard Contract or 7-12 guests for a Bare-Boat Contract. Captain and Crew do not count in the number of passengers. We're happy to help you with the details, please e-mail us [email protected]

Can we smoke aboard Bella?

NO.  Just below your seats are 350 gallons of diesel fuel, plus we want to keep the boat nice for a long time to come, and burn holes are hard to repair.  You can vape responsibly.

What about weed, man?

Since we will be on federal waters and marijuana is not federally legal, that's a big NO .  You can leave the drugs at home... you're going to have a great time without them.

Late Arrivals: The City controls Dock 55 for loading and unloading passengers. We have to arrange times in advance with a 15 minute time-slot with the city for our pick-ups and drop-offs. If you’re late it will count against your time.

Cancellation Policy:

Your deposit reserves the boat, a captain, a crew member and the county dock. 

If a charter is canceled within 7 days of the charter date or no cancellation received, the full deposit is forfeited by the client.  

Any cancellation greater than 7 days from the charter date will be subject to a $250 cancellation fee to cover expenses of pre-paying the county dock, the credit card transaction fee, committing to captain and crew member, and administrative fees. The balance will be returned to you within 7 days.

Depending on the location and the time of year it is possible to see humpback whales, blue whales (summer to fall), grey whales (winter to spring), minke whales, bottlenose Dolphins, seals, sea lions, pelicans, and more.

Can I decorate the yacht for my boat party?

Guests are welcome to decorate the boats, as long as no damage is incurred with the decorations.

Where will my yacht charter party go?

All charters are based on customers wishes and their location departure.

Are children included in the guest count?

Yes, children are included in guest counts. Children below 13 year old are also required to wear life jackets on yachts.

What type of clothing should I wear on a yacht charter party?

Ideally guests should dress comfortably. Layers are advised as it can be windier and colder on the water than on land. Don´t forget your sunscreen and sunglasses.

What to wear to a boat party at night?

On an evening yacht charter party it is important to dress warmly. While the boats do have interiors that can keep deduce the wind factor an evening on the water can be chilly. So it is best to dress in warm layers.

Can I wear high heels to a party on a yacht?

High heels can be worn on some boats. On large party boats with 30+ guests it should be fine. It is not practical on the smaller boats as you will be walking around on different levels and materials and it can be dangerous. A better solution would be a pretty flat, a fancy sandal, or a short mule if you must.

What do I need to bring to a boat party?

For a boat party on a yacht it’s best to bring whatever will make you comfortable. Some guests like to bring an extra sweater, favorite snacks and drinks, sunscreen, sea sickness pills, and if it's a birthday party a gift for the host.

How soon in advance do I need to book a yacht for a party?

Our bookings are based on a first come first serve basis. To make sure your preferred date and time is available it's best to confirm the date and time as soon as possible.

How do I start a yacht party?

Gather everyone together and share a toast to get the party started. Then play the music and let everyone mingle around in the different corners of the boat. This will make a boat party come to life.

Am I expected to tip the captain and crew?

Gratuity is not included in the price and while not required it is always greatly appreciated. Any tips provided are split between the captain and crew.

Can I bring food and beverage aboard for a boat party?

Guests are welcome to bring food and beverage aboard.

Are refreshments included for a yacht party?

Refreshments are not included in the pricing. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and drink.

Is there a place we can go to swim during a yacht party?

We can offer swimming from our San Pedro & Long Beach departure locations.

What is a bareboat charter?

- A bareboat charter is a vessel that is leased by the owner to another person (a “charterer”) for a period of time without a captain or crew; - A bareboat charter is a vessel that is considered a recreational vessel and may not be subject to Passenger Vessel inspections by the United States Coast Guard; - Once the charterer takes possession of the vessel, the charterer becomes entirely responsible for the safe navigation of the vessel and its passengers; - The owner of the vessel is generally not responsible for any collision, personal injuries, and wages for the crew - The charterer is responsible for the vessel’s crew, fuel, insurance, any maintenance and repairs, and any liability associated with use and possession of the vessel; - The charterer must have the option of selecting and paying crew and may discharge the master or any crew member without referral to the owner; - The owner may require general levels of proficiency for the crew that is retained based on federal statutes; and - Charterers and passengers are solely responsible for making sure they understand and agree to the terms of any bareboat charter agreement.

Propositon 33 would let cities and counties enact rent control by repealing the Costa-Hawkins Rental Housing Act. Similar statewide rent control initiatives failed in 2020 and 2018.

Supporters say repealing the ban on localities capping rent on vacant units, single-family homes and apartments built more recently will give local governments tools to ease the affordability crisis for their residents.

Opponents counter it will cause developers to build less, thus worsening California’s housing affordability. Real estate interests are opposing the measure along with an affordable housing bond measure, Proposition 5.

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation, a Los Angeles nonprofit that was behind the previous rent-control attempts has contributed more than $36 million in support. Los Angeles City Councilmember Kevin de León has formed a committee in support of this measure as well as Propositions 3 and 32. His $600,000 contribution is included in all three. Other supporters include labor and tenant organizations.
