The Lady Linda is a 187' yacht newly on sale . Partly designed by former owners Linda and Doug Von Allmen, it's made for luxury cruising in shallow waters.

With four equally sized guest rooms and a master suite, it has room for you and all your friends, but the asking price is a cool $49.8 million.

The 8-foot draft allows for cruising in the shallow waters around the Bahamas.

These are all the Wisconsin and Milwaukee references from Donald Trump's 2024 RNC speech

Former President Donald Trump's 90-minute acceptance speech concluding the 2024 Republican National Convention included scattered references to Wisconsin and, to a lesser extent, Milwaukee.

Trump, who prior to the convention infamously dubbed Milwaukee a "horrible city" — a comment he later said was meant as a reference to crime and elections in the city — had only nice things to say about the Badger State and was complementary of both Fiserv Forum , where he delivered the speech, and the Pfister Hotel , where he stayed throughout the RNC.

Here's a rundown of the Wisconsin-themed references in the speech:

Trump called out the 'extraordinary people' of Milwaukee and hyped the Green Bay Packers

As Trump ran through a list of people he thanked for the convention, he couldn't help but include a shoutout to the residents of the host city. After spotting the Wisconsin delegation, which was wearing cheeseheads , he also drew cheers when he predicted the Packers would have a "good team this year."

Here's his exact quote, according to a New York Times transcript of the speech :

"And a very special thank you to the extraordinary people of Milwaukee and the great state of — oh, there they are. There they are, that’s — You are so easy to spot. And Green Bay’s going to have a good team this year, right? They’re going to have a good team. They’re going to have a good team. Most of the audience doesn’t like it, but it’s true. You’re going to have a very good team this year."

Trump said he was 'trying to buy' Wisconsinites votes with a $250 million investment in the state

Here's the exact quote from the speech, which was a reference to the financial impact of the RNC. CBS58 reporter Adam Rife said Trump went off script for that number; the teleprompter said $200 million.

"And by the way, Wisconsin, we are spending over $250 million here, creating jobs and other economic … development all over the place. So I hope you will remember this in November and give us your vote. I am trying to buy your vote."

Trump on multiple occasions thanked former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker

Trump included acknowledgements of a Wisconsin governor in his speech. He didn't specify the governor by name, but based on what he was talking about at the time, he was presumably referring to Scott Walker who ran unsuccessfully against Trump in 2016 and ultimately supported Trump's candidacy. Walker served as a Wisconsin delegate to the 2024 RNC. Current Gov. Tony Evers is a Democrat and, um, likely will not cast a vote for Trump in November.

Here's one "governor" reference from Trump:

"And I promise we will make Wisconsin great again. We’re going to make this ... Thank you. Mr. Governor, thank you very much. Thank you."

Trump touted a shipbuilding contract his administration awarded to Wisconsin

Trump referenced an estimated $800 million shipbuilding contract the Navy awarded to Fincantieri Marinette Marine in 2020 . The contract stipulated the shipyard was to build a guided-missile frigate that was a bigger, and arguably more capable, warship than littoral combat ships.

Fincantieri told reporters that the contract could create 1,000 new jobs at the shipyard and 4,000 more at the company’s suppliers. However, the Navy's LCS shipbuilding program has long been plagued by cost overruns and other issues .

This is what Trump said about the shipbuilding contract:

"And Wisconsin, Wisconsin, just like I gave you that massive ship contract, and you’re doing a very nice job, governor, right? Thank you, governor. And they’re doing a great job. In fact, I had a little design change and we gave them a tremendous for, essentially, what we used to call destroyers. These are now the most beautiful. They look like yachts."

Was Trump subtly referencing Ed Gein? Probably not, but it would be quite an interesting Wisconsin allusion

At one point Trump mentioned "the late, great Hannibal Lecter," who, of course, is a fictional character. Was he secretly trying to reference another infamous Wisconsinite?

Lecter wasn't inspired by Ed Gein, but Buffalo Bill — the other serial killer depicted in " The Silence of the Lambs " — was. Gein remains one of the most "famous" people from Wisconsin .

Elon Musk to donate $45 million a month to new Donald Trump super PAC: Report

X CEO Elon Musk said he will donate $45 million a month to a new super political-action committee backing former president Donald Trump's reelection campaign , according to the Wall Street Journal .

Despite reportedly donating to the political-action committee, the Tesla founder was not listed on a Monday filing from America PAC that revealed it has raised over $8 million.

Other donors in this group include capital firm 8VC co-founder Joe Lonsdale, former U.S. ambassador to Canada Kelly Craft as well as investor twins Cameron and Tyler Winklesvoss, the Journal reported Monday citing a person familiar with the matter.

As of the first day of the Republican National Convention, Musk remains the only Fortune 100 CEO to fully endorse a candidate in the 2024 presidential race.

Musk fully endorses Trump after rally shooting

The SpaceX CEO offered his complete endorsement for Trump following the Saturday assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

"I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery," Musk wrote on X Saturday while sharing a video of the moment after a bullet struck his right ear.

Musk has said he previously voted for Democratic candidates including President Joe Biden in the three previous election cycles. In recent years, the tech mogul has vocalized his frustration with Democrat policies such as Biden's indefinite support for labor unions and his decisions regarding immigration and the border.

Earlier this year, Musk vowed not to contribute to either Trump or Biden's campaigns.

"Just to be super clear, I am not donating money to either candidate for US President," he wrote on March 6.

Near-complete Stegosaurus fossil sells for record $44 million at auction

The Summary

A 150-million-year-old, nearly complete Stegosaurus skeleton sold for a record $44.6 million at auction Wednesday.

Sotheby’s, which handled the sale in New York, described the fossil as the “most complete” and “best preserved” Stegosaurus specimen of its size ever discovered. The huge skeleton, measuring 11 feet tall and 20 feet long, was nicknamed “Apex.”

The dinosaur remains were estimated to fetch up to $6 million , but the sale far exceeded those expectations. It set a world record price for a fossil at auction after a bidding war that lasted more than 15 minutes, according to Anna Tisi, a representative for Sotheby’s.

Sotheby’s did not publicly disclose the buyer’s identity, but The W all Street Journal later reported that it was billionaire Kenneth Griffin, the CEO of the hedge fund Citadel.

The Apex skeleton was unearthed in 2022 by Jason Cooper, a commercial paleontologist, on his private land near the town of Dinosaur in Moffat County, Colorado, according to Sotheby’s. The bones were in the Morrison Formation, an expanse of sedimentary rock centered in Colorado and Wyoming that also extends into parts of 11 other states.

The fossil was found without any other specimens nearby and with no signs of injuries, the auction house said, adding that evidence of arthritis suggests the Stegosaurus may have survived to an advanced age.

“‘Apex’ marks an incredibly important milestone, as simply one of the best fossils of its kind ever unearthed,” Cassandra Hatton, Sotheby’s global head of science and popular culture, said in a statement before the sale. “Stegosaurus is one of the most universally recognizable dinosaur species, whose unmistakable silhouette has been a source of fascination and wonder for generations.”

The Stegosaurus is a four-legged, armored dinosaur best known for the distinct line of kite-shaped plates on its back.

The spiky-tailed dinosaurs lived during the late Jurassic period, roughly 155 million years ago to 145 million years ago.

A similarly near-complete Stegosaurus fossil, known as “Sophie,” belongs to the Natural History Museum in London. The Apex skeleton, however, is more than 30% larger, according to Sotheby’s.

Previously, the record for the most money paid for a fossil at auction was set in 2020, when a Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton named “Stan” sold for $31.8 million.

The first dinosaur sold at auction was a now-famous specimen known as “ Sue the T. rex ,” which was auctioned in 1997. The Field Museum in Chicago, where it is displayed, bought it for $8.4 million.

Sotheby’s sold an unusually complete stegosaurus fossil at auction on Wednesday for a staggering $44.6 million, toppling the record fossil price that had previously been set by the king of the dinosaur world, the Tyrannosaurus rex.

The unexpectedly high price — which was more than 10 times the low estimate — shows that the market for prehistoric specimens is continuing to explode, which concerns paleontologists who fear that scientists could be priced out of the market.

With its trademark back plates and cavernous rib cage, this stegosaurus, which is said to have walked the Earth about 150 million years ago in what is present-day Colorado, was nicknamed Apex because of its exceptional quality . It was the subject of a 15-minute bidding war with seven bidders from around the world on the phone.

The winning bidder was Kenneth Griffin, the hedge fund billionaire, according to a person familiar with the sale who was not authorized to discuss it. The Wall Street Journal first reported that Griffin, who has donated millions of dollars to dinosaur exhibits at the Field Museum in Chicago, purchased the stegosaurus.

The auction house declined to name the winning bidder, but said that the buyer intended to “explore loaning the specimen to a U.S. institution.”

Four years ago, the commercial fossil market was jolted by the sale of a T. rex skeleton called Stan that fetched a record $31.8 million, setting off a gold rush for dinosaur fossils in the American West and alarm bells for academics who fear that the spiking prices could push fossils out of the reach of museums and universities that wish to study them.

The $44.6 million sale of the stegosaurus fossil, which includes buyer’s fees, eclipsed the record set by Stan, which ended up at a developing natural history museum in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Apex, which stands 11 feet tall and 27 feet long, is among the largest of its kind.

“I’m amazed at how much it went for,” said Jim Kirkland, the state paleontologist of Utah, who was invited to examine the specimen but declined because he did not want to promote a fossil that could be sold to a private owner.

Kirkland said that from the photographs he saw of the specimen, it could be scientifically valuable because of its completeness. (It contains 254 fossil bone elements out of an approximate total of 319, the auction house said.) He said he hoped that whoever bought it would fully document it and make the data available to researchers. “The whole thing should go through a CT scan,” Kirkland said.

Jason Cooper, a commercial paleontologist, discovered Apex in 2022 when he was walking around his property — which is near the Colorado town of Dinosaur — and found a bit of femur protruding from rock. He and his colleagues excavated it the next year.

Most of the high-profile dinosaurs sold at auction have been Tyrannosaurus rexes, the most publicly recognizable and beloved dinosaur species. Sotheby’s sold a T. rex fossil named Sue at auction for $8.4 million in 1997, helping usher in a boom in the market for old bones. But it was the 2020 sale by Christie’s of the T. rex Stan that triggered the most recent flood of fossils in the market.

In 2022, a Deinonychus antirrhopus (the inspiration for the Velociraptors depicted in the film “Jurassic Park”) sold for $12.4 million and a Gorgosaurus fetched $6.1 million. That same year, Sotheby’s sold a single T. rex tooth for more than $100,000.

But there were also signs that sellers were overestimating the value of their offerings in search of another record-bringer like Stan.

Sotheby’s estimated that a T. rex skull it was auctioning in 2022 would fetch between $15 million and $20 million, but it sold for only $6.1 million . Christie’s withdrew a T. rex named Shen with a high estimate of $25 million from a 2022 auction after scientists said data about its completeness was misleading.

Jingmai O’Connor, a paleontologist at the Field Museum, was conducting research in Montana when she heard the news of the Apex sale. “$44.6 million for a stegosaurus?” she said. “Sorry, the paleontologists around me are laughing.”

She said it was rare to find such a complete specimen but questioned how much scientific value the fossil might have, given the availability of so many partial skeletons.

“With $44 million to scientists,” she mused, “we could move forward our understanding of dinosaurs by decades.”
