Filet Mignon & Lobster Tail father's day menu. Very delicious and the food at atmosphere is top tier.
Best views in the Bronx! Takes your mind off Covid and all your troubles! Breath of freah air!
Total fucking ripoff. I know they need to make money off the club menu but everything is frozen/fried, the staff couldn't give a shit, and wait til you see what they charge for one glass of wine. Appalling.
Friendly staff and beautiful views.. The food was fresh and so tasty! Every meal that came out looked so amazing. Quiet nice dinner.
This is a great spot to chill out after a day of sailing. But of course you have to be a member of the club or know someone who is! I took a little sail out with friends/coworkers and settled back in with a nice lunch at the club house. The location has a beautiful view of the water and a great place to relax in the hot sun. Where the dock is located, it is easy to get to your boat and ride out! Of course given that you are with experienced people who have been sailing for years. What I had for lunch: Lamb burger -Excellent flavor!! Made to perfection and cooked medium rare just how I like it. -They spread a hint of blue cheese, which compliments the juicy taste they falls into your mouth when you bite into it. -I also love that they serviced in on a wooden pig, super cute I hope I could come out here again!
City Island Yacht Club is definitely really amazing. Very cool scene. Every single thing that I have tried was really good and I would return to have it again! The staff members are all very nice and helpful. Can not wait to come back to City Island Yacht Club. Definitely recommending to others.
Such a great place, great views and fun atmosphere. Lots of big drinks with plenty of booze, no stingy pours here. Loved the fact that it's close to the Cj's and you can just stroll out and the cross water view is amazing. Loved the burger and I'm picky as Hell!
The yacht club has an incredible view of Eastchester Bay, the NYC skyline and epic sunsets. I am a member of the yacht club and you can contact cityislandyc.org to inquire about membership and catering.
View from the dining porch
I went to a wedding at the City Island Yacht Club. The location, views, and food were wonderful. The grounds were clean and well kept as was the club house. The steward is South African so the food was unique and delicious. We had the bobotie, a traditional South African meat pie. I would recommend coming here to anyone interested in great food and a great place to relax.
A beautiful view from the yacht club.
Completely unprofessional is how I would describe my experience trying to book my bridal shower at the city island yacht club. It took them days to respond to emails/phone calls and did not even show up for a scheduled meeting. When called to ask where they were the chef laughed and stayed he had two flat tires and would get there when he gets there. Who says that???!!! Have they not ever heard of calling someone to inform them that they will not be coming. My advice would be for them to hire an adult tad their event planner since the young teenage girl who does it is not qualified. It's such a shame since it is a beautiful location. My friend had her wedding there almost two years ago and it was a beautiful well run event when different caterers where working there.

City Island Yacht Club Offers a Popular Time-Share Sailing Program
By Betsy Frawley Haggerty
Sarip , a Catalina 25 in the CIYC club-boat fleet, sailing in Long Island Sound near Hart Island © Betsy Frawley Haggerty
The yacht club, which celebrates its 109th birthday this year, started its club-boat program seven or so years ago when a member donated a 23-foot sailboat he could no longer use, and the club leadership decided to try an experiment—let members share the boat.
That boat is long gone, but the club-boat program that it spawned is thriving. Three Catalina 25s and a J/24 make up the fleet, shared last year by 22 members. I was one of them, and there was never a day when there wasn’t a boat to sail. I sailed one club boat or another 18 times last summer, meaning I sailed more than the average boat owner, and many members sailed twice a week or more in Eastchester Bay and Western Long Island Sound during the 20-week sailing season.
“I’m passionate about sailing, and I love this program,” said Branka Dragasevic, one of the twice-a-week sailors. Two years ago Branka, who had skippered dinghies and crewed on cruising and racing boats, was looking for a place where she could hone her skills and get out on the water more often. She and a friend spent their spring Saturdays visiting sailing programs and yacht clubs to find the right fit for them. “City Island Yacht Club came in first,” Branka said. “We could look at the boats in the boatyard, talk to members, and I was very impressed with the spring lecture series. I liked that members were committed to learning and everyone was very social.”
Although she was a seasoned crew, Branka had never skippered mid-size keelboats before, and she admits she had a lot to learn. “Skill acquisition is not easy as an adult,” she noted, “but everyone was supportive and available to help in any way. It took me a while to get into the groove.” She qualified as a club-boat skipper last year and is able to take the boats out on her own with friends or other club-boat members aboard. “I feel competent now, but this is just the beginning. I am always learning,” she said.
Sailors should have some sailing experience before they join, with at least a basic keelboat class under their belts. They need to know basic maneuvers and sailing terms so they can work comfortably as crew with other sailors. To qualify to become a skipper—last year everyone qualified by the end of the season—they have to demonstrate that they know the rules of the road, points of sail and basic sail trim, and that they can handle the boat safely in up to 15 knots of wind. They must also show they can pick up a mooring under sail—a real test of sailing skill. While the boats all have outboard engines, CIYC wants to make sure members are fully capable of bringing the boat back safely under sail. Those who qualify first as crew but not as skippers, can learn from more experienced club members, take private lessons or go to a sailing school.
One of the best things about the club-boat program, members say, is the camaraderie they share with other club-boat members and with active, boat-owner members of CIYC. Many members, myself included, race and cruise with people they meet on the yacht club porch or working in the boatyard.
CIYC members are, for the most part, do-it-yourselfers who spend spring weekends prepping their boats for sailing season, helping one another and making friends while they do so. Club-boat members get to participate in the boatyard fun. While the boats are owned by the yacht club, members are responsible for doing the maintenance work, prepping bottoms, waxing hulls and keeping the boats clean and in good repair throughout the season.
Happily, many members, like former boat owner Heinz Bronnimann who leads the maintenance program, are both highly skilled and generous with their time. “I don’t mind working on the boats, and teaching others how to do so,” Heinz said. “It’s a co-op program, and you get to know people really well during the spring work parties. That’s how many of us became good friends.”
Membership in the club-boat program includes a CIYC social membership, which offers reciprocity at many other yacht clubs, and costs about $1,000 annually, a bargain for unlimited sailing and the ability to sail with your own guests at no extra charge. For more information or to apply for membership in the CIYC Club Boat Program, visit cityislandyc.com or email club boat liaison Branka Dragasevic at clubboat@cityislandyc.com .
On Saturday, April 9, beginning at noon, City Island Yacht Club will host the annual Greater New York Sailing Group Meet and Greet beginning at noon. Last year 90 sailors attended this event, where several sailing groups, including the CIYC Club Boat Program, describe their programs, and boat owners and would-be crew get to know one another and make arrangements for racing and cruising. The club’s restaurant and bar will be open. For more information, visit the cityislandyc.org or meetup.com/greater-new-york-sailing-group .

Padre Island Yacht Club's first boat show & market days was a success
NORTH PADRE ISLAND — The first annual boat show and market days event was held at North Padre Island this weekend. The event brought crowds up to 1,500 on Saturday and about 500 on Sunday.
The Padre Island Yacht Club and Gulf Coast Marine has been working on the event since last December and members were pleased with the amount of people that attended this weekend.
"The wild picked up a little today but we're still expected to have fun today," said Gulf Coast Marine intern Barton Creed. "The amount of people that showed up and the times that were had were really great. We've had some good times here, so we're really happy with how it turned out," he said.
Attendees used their time to walk around the event and explore the booth of some local vendors selling anything from boats, ATV's, knick knacks and more.
Multiple food vendors were also at the event to serve people some sweat treats and more.
When I asked the creators about how their opinions on the longevity of this event, they expressed their optimism for the future:
"I went and did a survey with all of the vendors," said Mike Hettick of the Padre Island Yacht Club. "They were very pleased. I believe we had a great turnout. There was a lot of support so I think it was a very successful time," he said.
Hettick said that with the success of this event, they will plan to hold it again around the same time next year.

Kiwanis Dairy Bar seeks city funding for renos in advance of 70th anniversary
Popular charlottetown ice cream venue needs new bathroom, freezer and storage.

The Kiwanis Club of Charlottetown is looking for a little help from the City of Charlottetown to expand its popular dairy bar in the heart of Victoria Park.
"The business is growing and it's harder to get product, and sometimes we have to take large orders. So having a walk-in cooler and freezer would really benefit us, as well as having some more space to store product," said Basil Hambly, who manages the Kiwanis Dairy Bar.
There are also plans to have a dedicated employee bathroom inside so that staff don't have to leave the dairy bar to use the public restrooms accessible from the deck.
The dairy bar, which will open for the 2024 season in a month or so, was last renovated in 1994. Hambly said it's in need of an overhaul and a freshen-up.

The project has been estimated to cost $600,000, and the club has asked the city for $50,000 toward the cost. The rest of the money will come from Kiwanis Club of Charlottetown revenues as well as some financing.
"For every dollar that we can get from community support, like the city and other avenues that we're going to, [that] is going to make sure that we continue making those donations and funding those organizations that really need it and that we've been long-time funders of," said Ronnie McPhee, the club's incoming president.
"We have some tough decisions to make because we have important renovations that have to happen," he said. "If we have to make this go down over the years, we will do that. But the sooner we can get the renovations done, the better experience [it] is going to be for everybody."
McPhee said they would like to start renovations in the fall if they can secure funding this year. Most of the work will be completed sometime next year, which is also the 70th anniversary of the dairy bar.
"It would be awesome to have kind of the new-and-improved location then," he said, adding: "We want to make sure that we're doing it in a way that funds all our organizations, [and] make sure people can get here and not have to crawl in over ladders and all that stuff."
Donations from the Kiwanis Club of Charlottetown support organizations including BGC Charlottetown, Make-a-Wish, and the Upper Room Hospitality Ministry.
