Steph & Mark’s Yacht Club Wedding

A yacht club wedding.

Steph and Mark’s stunning yacht club wedding took place at the gorgeous Seawanhaka Yacht Club – a secluded oasis of a venue in Oyster Bay overlooking the Long Island Sound.

These sweethearts met through a coworker many moons ago and enjoyed lots of happy hours together before Steph made the first move back in 2014! Together, they love all of the outdoor things including boating and fishing, so it made perfect sense for them to start their new life together as husband and wife at Seawanhaka with a gorgeous blend of rustic, floral, and timeless elegance with incredible water views at their yacht club wedding!

The Ceremony

Steph and Mark’s yacht club wedding took place on the lawn at Seawanhaka. Their 180 guests sipped on cucumber and mint water as they took their seats in front of a giant oak to watch the two lovebirds say their vows. Mark and the groomsmen arrived at the ceremony by boat(!!) and Vicki, the mutual friend who introduced Steph and Mark, officiated the wedding (8 months pregnant might I add!) Steph’s friends, Shireen and Lauren, and her cousin, Allie, read, including a sweet rendition of Billy Joel’s lyrics for “Just the Way You Are” (which really got to my Long Island heart!) After the exchanging of vows and rings, the new Mr. and Mrs. sealed their marriage with a kiss and then they were off to the reception!

The Reception

Steph and Mark’s reception took place under a beautiful white tent with Christmas lights strung up and views of the water from every seat.

The wedding featured SO many personalized touches including: personalized hangers for all of the ladies in the bridal party, Mark’s custom-made watch engraved with their names and the date, Mark’s and the groomsmen’s ties which were custom designed by the groom (and his tie also included their names and wedding date!), a hand-rolled cigar station, favors made by the bride (adorable jars of olive oil!), and the Maid of Honor, Kelly, performing during the cocktail hour!

Good Clean Fun Band rocked the party and got everyone up and dancing for pretty much the whole night. I’ve been to quite a few weddings…but this crowd really knew how to enjoy a party!

Steph and Mark – your stunning wedding day was such a gorgeous visual of the love you share with each other and also your family and friends. I’m so grateful I was able to capture your first day as Mr. and Mrs. and wish you ALL the good things in your journey together <3.

Booking Inquiry

Wedding & Event Rental Rates for 2024-2025

Whatever your event, the UBC Boathouse is the perfect place! Rental rates and current policies are effective from December 1, 2022.

The UBC Boathouse reserves the right to change rental rates or season packages at any time. The UBC Boathouse reserves the right to restrict start and end times of events in order to accommodate full event bookings. Time for vendor set-up and takedown is required as part of the rental block. Vendor set-up requires two hours prior to guest arrival; vendor takedown requires one hour after guest departure. 

8 Hour Event Rental Rates

Additional hours beyond the 8 hour rate are charged at $150 per hour.  

Firm bookings require a non-refundable and non-transferable deposit of $1500 for Monday-Thursday bookings and $2500 for Friday-Sunday bookings . Full payment of the outstanding balance is due 60 days prior to the rental date.   

Venue Estimate

Statutory holiday, long weekend & special date rates.

• Statutory holidays are booked at the Friday-Sunday rate of said season. 
• Weekdays that fall directly prior to a statutory holiday are booked at the Friday-Sunday rate 
• Special dates including, but not limited to, December 31 are booked at the peak Friday-Sunday rate   

Dock Reservations

As a fully floating venue, the lower docks provide a unique on water space for an outdoor ceremony and/or cocktail hour.     

The docks are complimentary within your event hall rental; however, the docks are a public space that are shared with registered rowing and paddling programs. Ceremony and cocktail receptions will be approved around practice and program schedules, 4 months prior to your event date. Please seek written approval for your desired ceremony and/or cocktail hour time 4 months prior to your event (and before you print and send your guest invitations). You may request the historical schedule to obtain idea for your desired date.     

The dock is not available for events November-February.   

Wedding Rehearsals

Lead by your officiant, gather with your wedding party and family to rehearse the finer details of your ceremony.   

Rehearsals booked during regular operating hours are complimentary and are booked for a maximum of one hour.   

Rehearsals may be tentatively booked 60 days prior to the wedding date however, they are not confirmed until 2 weeks prior. Please note that regular operating hours are subject to change.

General enquiries, hiring the club and how to locate us on Eel Pie Island

The club is located on an island over a footbridge - walk to the end of the path to get to the clubhouse. There is metered parking on Twickenham Embankment as well as several nearby car parks. The island is a short walking distance from Twickenham Station.

General Enquiries

For general enquiries about becoming a member or hiring the clubhouse on a regular basis (for example, for hosting dance classes), please  email us  or complete the enquiry form below.

PLEASE NOTE: the Clubhouse no longer has any time slots available for recurring weekly bookings e.g. yoga classes.

However, if you have an enquiry about a one-off daytime event that is NOT a party (e.g. a meeting) , we would be very happy to consider your request. Please use the Enquiry Form below.
