Axis Group Yacht Design, Inc. is a naval architecture and marine engineering design company specialized in the superyacht market.Founded in USA in 1996, by naval architect & marine engineer Horacio E. Bozzo, the company has moved to Viareggio, Italy in 2001. Has established tight collaboration with the most renowned shipyards and professionals in the field, such as Azimut-Benetti, Perini Navi, Codecasa, SanLorenzo, ISA, Cantieri di Pisa, Maiora, Couach Yachts, Tecnomar, Nautica International, Paolo Caliari, Roberto del Re, Espen Oeino, among others. The company makes use of the latest naval architectural software, such as three-dimensional surface modellers, structural CAD/CAM software, three-dimensional piping technology, full CAD drafting, as well as state-of-the-art stability and hydrostatics packages to produce reports and fully detailed workshop booklets. Axis Group Yacht Design, Inc. can design any kind of Motoryacht, from displacement to high speed, composite, aluminium alloys or steel from initial conception through naval architecture, detailed design, mechanical devices design and project management. In 2013 Horacio Bozzo introduced Horacio Bozzo Design, www.horaciobozzo.com, dedicated to yacht design. Rossinavi and Axis Group Yacht Design reveal Bahamas superyacht series

Encouraged by their successful collaboration on 70m superyacht Numptia , Italian yard Rossinavi and Axis Group Yacht Design have developed a range of motor yacht designs for the US market.

The Bahamas series currently consists of two designs, the 48m Bahamas 158 and the 40m Bahamas 130. The designs are semi-custom, with a flexible platform and three different interior style options: Coloniale, Classico and Moderno. Both yachts are tailored to Caribbean cruising, with 1.8m draughts suitable for shallow waters.

‘Our new Bahamas Concept is the result of an in-depth market research and is our first commitment to the US market,’ says Federico Rossi, COO of Rossinavi. ‘This series of yachts will be built with the highest European quality standards but with US technical specifications.’

The yard has released more specific details of the 158, a tri-deck aluminium motor yacht under 500GT for 10 guests and 10 crew. Powered by two Caterpillar C32 ACERT’s engines it is expected to achieve a top speed of 15.5 knots at half load and offer a transpacific range.

In all three interior style options, the 158’s social areas on the main deck are focussed around a main saloon with floor-to-ceiling windows, and a large spa pool on the aft deck. The upper deck is a private owner’s space, with a forward cabin and terrace with spa pool – all out of sight of the rest of the yacht.

A 65m2 flybridge offers another spa pool as well as a lounging area, bar, day head and open shower for cooling off.

The exterior styling of both designs is clean and modern, and for the 158 features a pale blue proposed hull livery and gill-like flourishes in the superstructure. ‘I found inspiration in the exotic colours and relaxing shapes of the Bahamas islands and purposely designed this series to enjoy that unique scenario,’ says Horacio Bozzo, designer and president of Axis Group Yacht Design.

The naval architecture and engineering of the Bahamas series is being developed by Axis Group Yacht Design and the yachts are expected to be MCA LY3 and MLC complaint for charter.

This important event focuses on the essential design feature of the superyacht design and recognizes both innovation and creativity design skills of world top designers. The gold Neptune is the symbol of this prestigious recognition.

This is the second high profile award that Axis achieves in 2012 following the Best Yacht Designer of the Year in Asia back in May.

Motor Yacht NUMPTIA
