The French multihulls fleet has a new flagship. With Outremer 64’, Marquises, Catana 581, Lagoon 570 and Yapluka 60, the flotilla was more than exceptional. But now, the brand new Privilège will be wreaking havoc in this nomenklatura: here is EASY CRUISE, paradox or reality?

The Alliaura Group took over the activities and premises of Jeantot Marine in Les Sables d’Olonne, also operating Kirié and J.Composites. In other words, this new ‘heavyweight’ in the nautical industry of Vendée, now builds Privilège multihulls! Despite the manager’s renown at the time, the first Privilège 47 and 48 dsigned by Guy Ribadeau Dumas suffered from a rather confused image in public opinion probably linked to their essentially professional use (rental or chartering) made of these boats. Yet, despite a few structural problems due to lack of experience in some 47, the intensive use of these catamarans, precursors in large craft, seems to have met with general satisfaction. Today, another marketing and industrial strategy prevails. To paraphrase a famous slogan: a shipyard’s flexibility, a group’s strength: in concrete terms, this is materialized in a series of attitudes around which is organized the Alliaura team’s new challenge and that of their favorite designer Marc Lombard. Pooling resources, rationalizing procedures, fine quality construction and finishing are particularly perceptible. The range comprises five models: 37’, 435, 465, 585 and 65’. During my visit, the...

Signature 580

Privilège signature 580, a hard act to follow.

The new Privilège Signature 580 has a hard act to follow. Its predecessor, the 585, continues to be a much sought-after blue water yacht famous for its heavy weather sailing ability and liveaboard capacity.

The new 580 is designed and built to improve on that record.

forward lounge

The Privilège Signature 580 is available with a forward lounge that can be accessed from both the salon and the owner’s suite. A second option that uses the foredeck area for storage is also available, eliminating the forward cockpit lounge and direct access from the salon and owner’s cabin.

shaft drive propulsion

A serious offshore yacht should not be burdened with sail drives. A robust shaft drive installation ensures that engine and transmission components are accessible while the boat is in the water.

Privilege 580 Sailing Catamaran

helm position

The helm position provides greater visibility and direct communication to the cockpit and the upper fly deck. An intelligent line management system allows you to trim and adjust your sails without ever leaving the helm. Also, single line reefing, main halyard, main sheet and genoa sheets are led to two electric winches right at the helm. The genoa is easily controlled by the standard electric furling system.

Forward facing navigation

Privilège Signature 580

The forward facing navigation position is an ideal location to plot your next course. The spacious work area gives you plenty of room to plan your passages and stay in touch with the cruising community.

Privilege 580 – The Well Connected Yacht

Out of all the Privilège Catamarans, the Privilege 580 is perhaps the most well connected yacht in the fleet.

A unique feature of Privilège catamarans is the semi-custom nature of the build. The Privilège 580 is one of the most customizable in the fleet.

With an expansive bridge deck and roomy cabins, the Privilege 585 makes an ideal charter yacht, with some currently in charter around the world. PRIVILEGE 585 "ERIBEA" (2005 - refit 2016)

The PRIVILEGE 585 remains one of the best values on the market when it concerns  family cruising safely and with optimal comfort. With her protected helmstation located against the cockpit bulkhead, she remains easy to manage in reduced crew, and safe in bad weather.

ERIBEA is very special: she is the only PRIVILEGE 585 which has received some transoms extensions (an incredible result !), and she still belongs to her original owners who love her ... This is hull Nr 18 (only 24 built), her cockpit is completely teak latted and protected by a GRP hardtop (few units benefit from it today), an hydraulic gangway facilitates boarding, electric davits and an arch supporting antennas are major options.

Her sole owner has always maintained ERIBEA with great rigour and care, with a crew employed year-round, and she has never suffered any damage. Intended for warm countries, she has also been subject to a specific thermal insulation during  her construction.

Air conditioning, watermaker, 2 generators, satellite, complete electronics, in short a very accomplished equipment. In refined cherry finish, this is a magnificent Owner's version with the galley down in starboard gangway, the quarters crew forward, an elegant salon with the living space, the bar area and the chart table just at the main entrance.

In 2018, owners have also invested heavily in a complete refit ; Today a new project invites them to sell her, not without nostalgia ...

In 2020 and 2021, the city of Moscow, Russia, has experienced two historical rainfall events that had caused major flooding of small rivers. Based on long-term observation datasets from the surrounding weather stations, regional mesoscale COSMO-CLM climate model results, and a detailed hydrological and water quality monitoring data, we performed a pioneer assessment of climate change and urbanization impact on flooding hazard and water quality of the urban Setun River as a case study. Statistically significant rise of some moderate ETCCDI climate change indices (R20mm and R95pTOT) was revealed for the 1966–2020 period, while no significant trends were observed for more extreme indices. The combined impact of climate change and increased urbanization is highly non-linear and results in as much as a fourfold increase in frequency of extreme floods and shift of water regime features which lead to formation of specific seasonal flow patterns. The rainstorm flood wave response time, involving infiltrated and hillslope-routed fraction of rainfall, is accounted as 6 to 11 h, which is more than twice as rapid as compared to the non-urbanized nearby catchments. Based on temporal trends before and after rainfall flood peak, four groups of dissolved chemicals were identified: soluble elements whose concentrations decrease with an increase in water discharge; mostly insoluble and well-sorted elements whose concentrations increase with discharge (Mn, Cs, Cd, Al); elements negatively related to water discharge during flood events (Li, B, Cr, As, Br and Sr); and a wide range of dissolved elements (Cu, Zn, Mo, Sn, Pb, Ba, La, Cs, U) which concentrations remain stable during rainfall floods. Our study identifies that lack of research focused on the combined impacts of climate change and urbanization on flooding and water quality in the Moscow urban area is a key problem in water management advances.
