Hot Yachts: Miami cast open up on glamorous world of multimillion-dollar boat brokers – from chartering plane just for bread to Below Deck comparisons

If you’ve got a hole in your TV schedule where Selling Sunset used to be, and you’re all caught up on the latest Below Deck drama, Hot Yachts: Miami might be the show for you.

The new reality series is setting sail on Paramount+, taking passengers into the seriously glamorous world of super-yacht brokering.

Of course, there will be some choppy waters ahead as agents do battle to get their customers the biggest boats in the marina, and will stop at nothing to make them happy.

Even if that means chartering a plane just for one loaf of bread.

Yes, seriously.

Chatting to Metro.co.uk ahead of the UK release, the cast – including Katya Hall, Vika Avramchuk and Fotis Geranios – lifted the lid on some of the wildest requests they have been given, and just how luxurious the industry really is.

Hot Yachts: Miami cast

Spilling the beans on demands from customers, Katya, aka the ‘queen of super yachts’, told us: ‘We all have plenty… From having to fly provisions to chartering a plane to put a loaf of bread on it and fly it to the Caribbean…

‘I had a client calling me saying, “I’m heading to an airport – when I land I expect a 70m yacht and I want to charter it for three weeks, ready to go.”

‘We’re talking about a multimillion-dollar charter and he said, “I’m going to be unavailable for 10 hours as I’m flying. When I land, I sure hope you have a yacht for me to go on.” Things like this do happen, this is real, and we manage.

‘We get it done every time. Sometimes it seems like a miracle, but we pull them off.’

Katya sounds like someone we need to have on speed dial immediately.

Hot Yachts: Miami Katya

Many have dubbed Hot Yachts: Miami a mix of Selling Sunset and Below Deck, with the latter showing the inner workings – and scandals – of the crew as they aim to please very rich charter guests.

Kaile Justine, who worked on boats herself for years before making the switch to brokering, shared how the programs are lifting the curtain on very different subjects.

‘People who work on the boats, they’re more like a family,’ she said. ‘It’s not drama like that.

‘But being able to put lines on the boat, really stressful situations, when you have wind hitting you and the people on deck don’t know what they’re doing. Of course, that is definitely realistic, because I’ve seen it.

‘We see boats crash in Miami Beach Marina all the time, so definitely that’s realistic.’

Hot Yachts: Miami Kalie

‘I think the idea has been around for such a long time to do a TV show on the world of super yacht brokers,’ Katya continued. ‘Obviously [it’s] very glamorous, especially on the outside.

‘Sometimes [there are] dirty engine rooms and loud noisy shipyards on the inside, but it appears very bright and shiny from the outside, and that’s what we aim to do.

‘We want our clients to only have bright and shiny experiences and we’ll deal with the noisy, dirty shipyards on our end.’

The Below Deck cast have been vocal about the negative reaction they got from their fellow yachting colleagues before joining the show, with Captain Lee Rosbach admitting that he was told his ‘career was over’ for taking part .

After the program – and the spin-offs – grew in popularity, many changed their tune and jumped to get in on the action.

Hot Yachts: Miami cast

When asked about whether they had a similar reaction from their industry colleagues regarding Hot Yachts: Miami, Katya added: ‘Fotis and I have got mixed reviews, the vast majority of people love it, they think it’s a funny show.

’It is good to shed some some light on what we do, and when we introduce more people to yachting. Statistics say that only 5% of people that can afford to buy a charter yacht actually do. So for us, exposure is good, PR is good.

‘Then we had a couple of people saying, “We’re a lot more serious and we’re a lot more corporate than it looks”.

‘Sure, that’s true. But do we want to film boardroom meetings and sitting in front of a computer writing long emails? Of course not. It’s a juggling act.’

Hot Yachts: Miami is available to stream on Paramount+ now.

HOT Yachts: Miami star Vika Avramchuk has revealed she's 'close friends' with two A-list Hollywood actors.

Socialite and former model Vika, 31, is set to become a star in her own right when the Paramount+ series debuts on Thursday in the UK.

Hot Yachts: Miami star Vika Avramchuk is "close friends" with two A-list actors

But she's certainly not a stranger to the world of glitz and glam as, not only does she sell £100m boats to the rich and famous, but she's great pals with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire.

When asked how she struck up the friendship in an interview with The Sun, Vika said, "I've been on a multitude of Leo's boats every year in Santa Fe when he would have his DiCaprio Foundation Gala back in the day. He doesn't do it anymore.

"But yeah, my best girlfriend, her now ex-boyfriend grew up with Leo when they were teenagers.

"So she would kind of bring me around to not be, you know, alone while all the boys did their thing.

"So eventually I just was doing everything with them and became very close with Leo and Tobey, all those kinds of people.

"Maybe one day Leo will trust me enough to charter through me, but he doesn't really need to charter. People just give their boats to him for free," she joked.

Vika was once invited to an intimate party with the Titanic star on  Roman Abramovich ’s yacht Eclipse, which cost £1.2billion, before the oligarch’s fall from grace over the war in Ukraine

She gushed: “It was more like a cruise ship. Everything was fantastic. To be on a dinghy, then pull up to a vessel that makes that look like a shoe lace to a shoe, is a beautiful feeling.”

Claiming she never dated the Oscar winner, despite his reputation as a ladies man, she added: “I’m able to call them my friends and I guess I get more respect than the other women in the long run. But at the time I would really have loved a snog from Leo.

“I really thought that I was going to walk away with Leo or one of his pals as my boyfriend.”

And while she thinks there's "absolutely no chance" he would make a show cameo, Vika promised she'll try and get "someone juicy" for season two.

She explained, "I just don't think a lot of these people want to show their lives in that way, and they don't need the press.

"But it's got to be someone very handsome, right? Someone with a good personality. I'll have to keep you posted on that."

After Selling Sunset, which lays bare the world of luxe estate agents, comes new show Hot Yachts: Miami which sees the party-loving sales crews competing to sell or charter luxury vessels.

With an eye-watering commission of between ten and 15 per cent, one deal can land a broker millions — meaning ruthless competition is the name of the game.

The first episode of the series focuses on the annual Boat Show in Miami, where the brokers party on the yacht Coral Ocean and have five-star waterside lunches between showing clients their luxury wares.

Being called a prostitute,  stealing millions of dollars worth of commissions and flirting with clients and captains is just part of the day to day of a super yacht broker - according to a new TV show.

The incredibly glamorous - and extremely bitchy - world of super yachts has been unveiled in Hot Yachts Miami, which launched this weekend on Paramount Plus.

A perfect combination of excessive wealth and petty backstabbing has got viewers hooked with many saying they've binged the whole series in a weekend.

Many viewers have been particularly intrigue by yachting newbie Vika, a former socialite and model, who goes toe-to-toe with veteran broker Kaile after the pair fight over a client.

In episode one, Kalie was seen showing a group of clients around a yacht.

Noticing one, Dr Toby, was unattended, Vika swooped in and offered to help him.

This however didn't sit right with Kalie, who then unleashed her wrath on Vika.

'I'm looking for Toby and I come around the corner and what do I see? Vika' Kalie told the cameras.

'And I'm thinking, wow, "do they really allow escorts into this venue?"'

'The fact this girl is here trying to do business is just embarrassing for her. Like what are you, the bootlegged Bonnie and Clyde? You guys look ridiculous'.

She added that there are 'unsaid rules' that every broker knows.

'I'm nice but once you f*** with me it's bad. No one in this industry will work with you,' she went on.

Kalie  (pictured) went on to take Vika's card off Dr Toby and rip it up, but like didn't stop the two from connecting

Later, after discovering Vika was talking to Dr Toby through another broker she went on to call her a 'cockroach'.

Confused by the interaction, rookie Vika branded Kalie 'unprofessional' and 'acting like she's in high school'.

Later, comforting Kalie, fellow broker Paul told her that he's lost more than $2.3million by other brokers 'stealing his commissions'.

'It's the sunshine state with the shadiest people,' he added.

A perfect combination of excessive wealth and petty backstabbing has got viewers hooked with many saying they've binged the whole series in a weekend

Later, meeting at a party Kalie unleashed her wrath on Vika again.

'You made yourself look like some escort,' she said.

'I know you're young, baby. But you don't have to project yourself.

'You look like a hooker on a boat, is your mum your madam?

'I could never trust you,' she added.

Dubbed ' Selling Sunset meets Below Deck' the programme shows off the extreme wealth of the Florida  billionaire's playground where everyone looks like a supermodel and tensions run high.

Against a backdrop of swanky parties, sumptuous dinners and beachside penthouses, the brokers will stop at nothing as they compete to sell superyachts to the super-rich.

But they always want more – more money, more sex, more power – and their showdowns are often spectacular.

The stakes are incredibly high. One sale could make the brokers millionaires themselves thanks to commissions of up to ten per cent, and one deal organising a yacht's charter for $1 million (£775,000) a week could make them more than most people make in a year.

The eight-part series on Paramount+ introduces us to some memorable characters whose job it is to sell the super-rich their dream of sailing off into the sunset. At the centre of it are rivals Nick Cardoza and Katya Hall.

Kaile, Vika and Katya are among the yacht brokers in Miami's cutthroat scene

Charming and handsome, Nick calls himself 'Mr Yachts'. Forbes magazine called him 'The guy celebrities go to for yachts', and he likes to play as hard as he works – his hobbies seem to be partying and womanising.

By comparison, Siberian-born Katya is the ice queen; she's a top broker at international yacht agency IYC, her clients include Prince Albert of Monaco, and the boats she sells can go for £200 million.

Katya says she 'won't get out of bed for less than £10 million'.

She's added that she's rented boats out for £2.5million for 24 weeks for one client.

But having worked her way up the ladder, Katya is desperate to stay there. The one chink in her armour is her protégée Viktoriya Avramchuk, known as Vika. An impossibly leggy former model, like Katya she's an immigrant.

Born in Kyiv, she moved to Prague when she was 14 and then on to the US at 16.

Katya gave her the job as a favour to Vika's mother Zhanna, who's very good at getting her own way.

Vika's been with Katya for 18 months and is yet to make a sale – though she's very good at flirting with clients. When she turns her attention to Nick, however, Katya is furious and warns Vika that he may not be all he seems.

She says that the secret to success is understanding, to the core, what the client desires and needs and promptly meeting those needs.

Truly glamourous, she's neighbours in Miami with the Beckhams, and has been on Leonardo DiCaprio's yacht

Meanwhile, a third broker, Kaile, also has reason to be furious with both Vika and her mother. While she's showing two clients around some yachts, Vika swoops in and tries to steal one of them away.

Kaile isn't impressed to find a flirtatious Vika and Zhanna drinking champagne with her client, who seems to be revelling in having two brokers fighting over him.

Charming and handsome, Nick calls himself 'Mr Yachts'. Forbes magazine called him 'The guy celebrities go to for yachts'

Enjoying all this drama is Vika's camp colleague Fotis, who believes trying to steal a client from under a rival's nose is bad behaviour and is determined to bring Vika and Kaile together so he can watch the fur fly.

Sassy, beautiful and highly driven, Kaile has been in the yachting world for the last four years and has high ambitions to become the most successful female yacht broker in Florida.

Kaile is aware that she is still relatively new to the industry but she hustles hard and her work on the dock pays off.

Kaile gets frustrated when clients go with a cheaper option and then are left disappointed. She tries to tell her clients that going cheap isn't always best.

Charming and handsome, Nick calls himself ¿Mr Yachts¿. Forbes magazine called him ¿The guy celebrities go to for yachts¿

Everyone knows him. His larger-than-life personality, good looks and charm are in equal measure to his arrogance and desire to win.

Never one to turn down an opportunity to network or party hard, Nick is ready to go 24/7.

Forbes magazine cited Nick as 'THE guy celebrities go to for yachts'. Nick is currently an independent yacht broker and is planning to launch his own yacht booking app.

Fotis loves his job and is driven by success. He charters roughly 80 yachts a year, and the money he makes annually is enough to purchase a house AND a car

Fun loving and party going Fotis has been in yacht sales since 2007. Mainly chartering yachts, Fotis has experienced insane demands from the crazy rich but he enjoys being challenged and always delivers.

Fotis doesn’t shy away from confrontation and enjoys a gossip with his fellow yacht brokers, even if that means causing controversy.

Fotis loves his job and is driven by success. He charters roughly 80 yachts a year, and the money he makes annually is enough to purchase a house AND a car.

He has travelled the globe, either discovering new destinations or visiting his all-time favourite ones. For Fotis, every little corner of the world has a potential for chartering.

All his clients are wealthy and he finds that the best place to close a deal is on a night out, when potential clients loosen up.

He loves to close deals with a glass of champagne in his hand and generally remains friends with the fun clients, who then take him on trips on their newly purchased boats.

When Fotis closes a deal he often celebrates with his friends by going to a fun destination like Mykonos and ordering lots of delicious food and expensive alcohol. Fotis also often receives expensive gifts from his clients, which is a big perk of the job.

Fotis admits it’s a cut-throat industry, where brokers steal clients from each other.

However, he would never steal clients from Katya, who he’s good friends with. Together they love hanging out at boat shows and partying.

Hot Yachts: Miami cast open up on glamorous world of multimillion-dollar boat brokers

I f you’ve got a hole in your TV schedule where Selling Sunset used to be, and you’re all caught up on the latest Below Deck drama, Hot Yachts: Miami might be the show for you.

I’m a superyacht broker & sell £100m boats – my rich clients think nothing of chartering plane for a loaf of bread

THEY’RE young, glamorous and have the most Instagrammable job on the planet.

Now a slick new reality show is opening up the cut-throat world of superyacht brokers, battling to sell vessels worth as much as £100million.

Apprentice superyacht broker Vika Avramchuk has celebrities and billionaire businessmen as clients

After Selling Sunset , which lays bare the world of luxe estate agents, comes new show Hot Yachts: Miami, which airs on Paramount+ from Thursday. It sees the party-loving sales crews competing to sell or charter luxury vessels.

In the series, set in Miami , they reveal the secrets of their wealthy clients — from the billionaires who spend thousands flying basic supermarket bread to their boat, to what it’s like trying to steal a kiss from superstar Leonardo DiCaprio .

With an eye-watering commission of between ten and 15 per cent, one deal can land a broker millions — meaning ruthless competition is the name of the game.

Katya Hall, known as the Queen of Yachts among her colleagues, won’t get out of bed for less than a £10million, 150-footer and earns a staggering amount arranging lux- ury summer breaks for her mind-bogglingly rich clients.

Russian tycoon loses High Court fight over seizure of £38m superyacht

“A lot of my colleagues sell yachts that are under a million dollars but I’ve done a £2.5million rental for 24 weeks for one client,” she tells The Sun. “So the value of my charter is three times higher than someone else’s sale.

Brokers play dirty

“Sales wise, I only do £10million and up. I could be selling 20 £300,000 boats a year but I don’t do that. I won’t deal with less than a 150-footer. I have recently sold boats for £28million and £30million. Just a couple of those deals a year is already pretty good.”

Hot Yachts follows the 39-year-old mum of two, who lives in a penthouse apartment overlooking the marina at Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as she shows a young couple round the 240ft vessel Coral Ocean, worth £94million.

The six cabin beauty boasts a fine dining area for 32 guests, a huge gym with its own yoga instructor, fully-staffed spa and jet skis.

With a weekly charter price of between £505,000 and £615,000 depending on the time of year, a booking could land a commission of £92,000.

One of Katya’s rivals, Nick “Mr Yachts” Cardoza, shows off the 175ft Mizu, worth £12million, in the hope of earning a £1.2million commission, inviting two beautiful girls on board for an Instagram photoshoot because “girls look good on everything”.

The plush vessel, which made an appearance in singer Taylor Swift’s End Game music video, has five cabins, a jacuzzi, basketball court and a stunning glass staircase.

But Katya reveals other luxuries are now required fittings for many of the larger vessels.

“Many of the bigger yachts have helicopter landing pads that take up an entire deck,” she says.

“Also full beauty salons and high-end spas, with multiple saunas and treatment rooms, are popular.

“I have some clients who are paying for new construction and I always tell them to put a beauty salon in because, if the men want to go fishing or diving, the ladies will want to go to the spa.

“But submarines are the coolest new accessory to have on board. You can get them for two to four people. They are very safe. One of the crew will be trained to pilot that and the team might also include scuba diving instructors, wind surfing instructors and a yoga teacher or personal trainer.”

Katya, originally from Siberia , boasts celebrities and royals among her clients and has recently chartered boats for rapper Drake and A-list actor Will Smith . Yet her apprentice, Vika Avramchuk, says celebrities aren’t always the favoured clients.

She says: “I’d rather have billionaire businessmen as my clients because most mega yacht owners don’t charter to celebrities.

“People that have really beautiful, big boats want people to respect them and celebrities tend to be maybe a little bit less careful. So I would much rather just have some under-the-radar billionaire who will consistently charter every year for a family holiday.”

Former model Vika, 31, is no stranger to star-studded yacht parties herself — having hung out with Leonardo DiCaprio and his pals in the South of France and Malibu, California .

The Wolf Of Wall Street actor Leo, who was yachting in the French Riviera with Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire just last week, rarely charters himself but is often the guest of a billionaire owner such as Amazon chief Jeff Bezos.

Vika says she was invited to an intimate party with Leo on Roman Abramovich ’s yacht Eclipse, which cost £1.2bill- ion, before the oligarch’s fall from grace over the war in Ukraine. She says: “It was more like a cruise ship. Everything was fantastic. To be on a dinghy, then pull up to a vessel that makes that look like a shoe lace to a shoe, is a beautiful feeling.”

Vika says she never dated Leo, despite his reputation as a ladies man. She adds: “I’m able to call them my friends and I guess I get more respect than the other women in the long run. But at the time I would really have loved a snog from Leo.”

Vika adds: “I really thought that I was going to walk away with Leo or one of his pals as my boyfriend.”

Charter broker Fotis Geranios, based in Greece, has a huge number of A-list clients, although non-disclosure agreements mean he can’t name names. Yet he says: “I had a charter a couple of years ago with a very famous singer who was on board with her personal trainer, make-up artists, two dogs, hair stylists and nutritionist. No friends, no family.

“We had a big crisis because the yacht was docked in Porto Cervo Marina in Italy and there was a lot of paparazzi, so she complained. We had to fly out with the owner to talk with her, because she was threatening to sue over leaked images.

“Another Latin American singer chartered a yacht from a colleague with her family. She wanted to go to Mykonos , in Greece, but there was a strong tropical wind which makes it impossible for the yachts to cruise the Greek islands.

“She was very disappointed and the captain wanted her to be happy, so when he was passing Salamina, the closest island to Athens, he said, ‘Look, this is Mykonos. You saw Mykonos’. It’s a bit naughty, but it made her happy.”

With rich clients to keep sweet, nothing is too much trouble for the brokers, who will happily hire a plane to deliver a loaf.

Fotis says: “You’d think clients would want caviar and Cristal Champagne and all the glamorous things. But a lot of times people go on million-dollar charters and ask for hot dogs and pigs in blankets.

“Or they want to fly cheap supermarket bread to their charter in the Caribbean, rather than have their onboard chef bake a loaf, so we get a £8,000 flight to send a 99p loaf.

“I have a client who has to have a peanut butter and jelly (jam) sandwich every day and it has to be the most basic bread and the cheapest brand of peanut butter.”

Fotis — whose rentals cost between £25,000 and £350,000 a week — says the client usually respects the boat they paid for but unruly guests can be disrespectful to the crew and sometimes cause thousands of pounds worth of damage.

“The guests who don’t pay don’t give a s*** and can be very demanding,” he says. “You are not allowed to smoke on the yacht but we had one party where people were smoking, there were burns in the carpet, a lot of stains, even puke.

“There were broken glasses everywhere, a broken chair. I had to bring a professional cleaning team on board and also a special team to get rid of the smell of the smoke.”

The huge commissions in the business mean competition is fierce — and some agents play dirty.

Broker Kaile certainly doesn’t shy away from competition in the series, and tells her rival Vika: “You make yourself look like some hooker on a boat, bringing her mother. Is she your madame?” The two get into a huge clash on the show after Vika finds a potential buyer left alone on an £8million yacht and attempts to poach his business.

Remaining unrepentant, Vika says: “Every industry where your income is based solely on commission is very cut-throat because everyone knows that if they want to eat, if they want to pay their rent, they’re gonna have to make sure the client is theirs.

“But also, if you are unprofessional enough to leave a client readily available to be scooped up by someone else, then I’m not the bad guy. You’re the bad guy.”

The first episode of the series focuses on the annual Boat Show in Miami, where the brokers party on the yacht Coral Ocean and have five-star waterside lunches between showing clients their luxury wares.

But it’s not all fun and glamour. Katya, who has an 18-year-old daughter Elena and shares Zane, who is almost two, with husband Issa, says it’s tough to be away from the family. Fotis says the constant travel and being on call to clients 24/7 can also be exhausting.

He adds: “Everybody thinks that during the boat shows we are partying and drinking and having fun and yes, we are doing that, but in a business way. If you’re not in the industry it’s hard to understand, but it’s very tiring.

“I’m with clients on the yachts all day and during the night I have to do the same at the clubs and restaurants. So during a boat show I only sleep for two hours a night.

“If I’m having dinner with a date and I receive a call I have to take it, otherwise I don’t make money and the client will go to the next broker.

VIKA Yacht for Sale

Not for sale or charter to U.S. residents while in U.S. waters.

The yacht was built and delivered to its first and only Owner in 2016. Exclusively for family use in Mediterranean waters, the vessel has been serviced at all times by an authorized dealer and is in excellent technical and aesthetic condition.

The model is part of the line of classic flybridge cruisers and has remained relevant for many years. The sleek, visually light silhouette of the yacht is emphasized by the windows of the superstructure, which offer a wide view from the salon. The body contours provide a comfortable ride at all speed ranges. The maximum speed of the model is 32 knots, cruising speed is 26 knots.

For joint relaxation, in addition to the salon, guests are offered three open areas: a beach area with sun loungers on the bow of the yacht, a dining area with sofas on the flybridge with an area of 19 m2 and a lounge in the cockpit, from where you can go down to the swimming platform. The yacht's interiors are distinguished by laconicism and Italian chic. The living area on the lower deck combines three cabins. The master cabin amidships is full-hull wide and has a king-size bed. Guests are provided with a VIP cabin in the bow and a cabin with two single beds on the starboard side.

Dropped Susan off to get a few shots of Vika sailing. Made a somewhat crude 13' Bahamian oar, complete with leather, and sculling oarlock. While it was a good drill I haven't got it to work too well. I lost ground today to the light breeze. At least I know I can make an oar and leather. And Vika paddles well enough without needing to scull.
