Five Top Yachts For 2024

CL Yachts CLB80

During the Miami International Boat Show last February, a bevy of builders introduced a host of new models for yachting enthusiasts of all kinds. Attendees had the opportunity to see enhanced helm stations, eco-friendly propulsion options, plush creature comforts, and more. Here, we offer a glimpse at some of the yachts that were seen and talked about, whether they’re already under construction or just now coming off the drawing boards for early orders.

CL Yachts CLB80

CLB80: Made for Different Cruising Styles

CL Yachts is adding a fourth model to its B Series: the CLB80, which joins the CLB65, CLB72 and CLB88 flagship. Aboard the CLB80, owners can choose a forward or aft galley. With the latter, there’s a stool-height dining table that can tuck away against the galley counter, becoming a high bar or a side table for different styles of entertaining. Owners also can choose a single or double helm station, depending on how they prefer to cruise. All four guest staterooms are belowdecks, including an amidships master that spans the 22-foot-6-inch beam. The VIP stateroom is forward with a skylight for additional natural light. There are also two crew cabins with separate access, located between the engine room and beach club.

Saxdor 400 GTO

Saxdor 400 GTO: A New Flagship

Saxdor Yachts is a Finnish yard that was established in 2019. It offers three models: the 270 GTO, the 320 GTO and the recently launched 400 GTO. Note the size of the foldout balcony in the image below; there’s another one on the starboard side of the vessel, substantially increasing the outdoor space when the boat is at anchor. Guests can have snacks or lunch in that shaded section or set out a spread forward on the table beneath open skies. Belowdecks are two staterooms: one forward and one amidships. For cruising families, the shipyard offers the option of adding a kids cabin. Standard power is a pair of 300 hp Mercury Marine V-8s, though the boat is designed for a maximum of 800 hp, if owners want other outboards at the transom.

Cicem TM 37

Vicem TM 37: Sport Fishing in High Style

The TM in the model name of Vicem’s TM 37 stands for “Tuna Masters.” This is a line of center-console boats that the Turkish builder launched earlier this year, with more models expected to come at different lengths overall. Hull No. 1 of the TM 37 is powered by triple 350 hp Mercury Marine outboards that reportedly give eager-to-get-there anglers a top hop of nearly 48 knots. The standard power package is a pair of the 350s, which Vicem says allows for a top speed of about 40 knots. Range is estimated at 350 nautical miles, with a Seakeeper gyrostabilizer as part of the standard-equipment package for more-comfortable time spent on board. Belowdecks are twin berths and a wet head for overnights. Electronics at the helm are by Raymarine.

Cruisers Yachts 55 Fly

Cruisers Yachts 55 Fly: Coming this Spring

The 55 Fly is the first model in the new Flybridge series from Cruisers Yachts, which also offers Cantius and GLS series. Expect the official launch of the 55 Fly this spring, with the second model in the Flybridge series on tap for next year. Luiz De Basto collaborated with the Cruisers team on interiors, using the design theme “back to nature in a tech world.” Josh Delforge, vice president of operations and engineering at Cruisers, says that one goal with the 55 Fly was best-in-class water interaction—hence the foldout side platform and sizable swim platform shown in the image below. Power will be twin 725 hp Volvo Penta IPS950s, allowing extra volume to devote to the accommodations for six guests.

Crincess Y95

Princess Y95: High Style Meets 23-Knot Speed

The Y95 is the new flagship of Princess Yachts’ four-model Y Class of open-flybridge designs in larger sizes. There are five en suite staterooms for a total of 10 guests, with the master spanning the full beam on the main deck. The flybridge is set up for driving and entertaining in comfort. There are twin adjustable helm seats, along with a forward-facing L-shaped seating area for guests. The dining table up top seats 10 people (additional dining space is on the main deck). A bar on the flybridge includes a sink, an electric barbecue, a hob and a drawer refrigerator. Power is a pair of 2,000 hp MAN V-12s that, according to Princess, allow for a top speed of 23 knots. Crew quarters are abaft the engine room, separate from the guest spaces.

Majesty 140 yacht Gulf Craft

The biggest upcoming deliveries from every country in 2024

With nearly 700 yachts awaiting delivery, the superyacht industry is forging ahead into an exciting new year. BOAT looks toward the biggest contributions from around the world – showcasing a variety of fan-favourite series, entirely new designs and even some country records to boot...

Project Ali Baba

Builder: Lürssen Length: 142.1m

Officially launched in December 2023, Project Ali Baba was accidentally revealed slightly beforehand when a technical failure at the shipyard's Bremen site forced the yacht's nose into the dock curtain. Initial images of the yacht showcase a grey profile with an elongated bow and bold exterior lines spanning four decks. Otherwise, details of the project remain tightly under wraps.

The Netherlands

Feadship 821.

Builder: Feadship Length: 118.8m

Feadship's future flagship began construction in 2021 and was spotted for the first time as her bare hull was rolled out of the shed in 2022 . At 118.8 metres, Project 821 is believed to be Feadship's largest yacht to date, usurping its current flagship Anna , which measures 110 metres.

Freire NB-729

Builder: Freire Length: 105m

Freire has kept an extremely tight lid on Project NB-729 since announcing it had secured the contract in July 2021. Built from steel and aluminium, the 105-metre expedition yacht will become Freire's third-largest delivery once she is released from the yard in 2024, coming after the 111.9-metre Renaissance and 110.6-metre Falkor (Too) .

Builder: Bilgin Length: 80m

Named Al Reem , Bilgin's third unit in its 80-metre 263 superyacht series builds on the success of sister ships Tatiana and Leona with an additional 20 per cent in volume. All three hulls in the series share the same bullet-shaped profile conceived by Unique Yacht Design , with interiors by British studio H2 Yacht Design . However, Al Reem benefits from a fresh new layout and several technical refinements, including a longer upper deck and an extra covered area at the stern.

Builder: Admiral – The Italian Sea Group   Length: 78m

Very little is known about the upcoming 78-metre custom project from The Italian Sea Group 's Admiral brand. The 2,073 GT superyacht supposedly features an exterior from Igor Lobanov and an interior by Sinot Yacht Architecture and Design , with the latter also responsible for designing Admiral's upcoming Project Blue Marlin – a 76-metre motor yacht also due for delivery in 2024.

Golden Yachts 60M

Builder: Golden Yachts Length: 60m

Another entry with sparse details, the newest project from Golden Yachts promises to follow in the footsteps of previous deliveries O'Ptasia , O'Mathilde and O'Pari , with each yacht's exterior and interior design owed to long-time partner Studio Vafiadis . Most recently, Golden Yachts released the 77-metre O'Rea (renamed Malia ), which had her global debut at the 2023 Monaco Yacht Show.

Danzante Bay

Builder: Crescent Custom Yachts Length: 50m

Named after her owner's Mexican resort and golf course, Danzante Bay is notable for being the new flagship of Crescent Custom yachts as well as the largest yacht to be built in Canada. Her exterior design and naval architecture are from Gregory C. Marshall with interiors by British studio H2 Yacht Design that have yet to be revealed. Some of the known highlights include a sundeck spa pool, foredeck sun lounge and glass bulwarks on the upper deck offering unhindered views of the surrounding seascape.

JinLong 46M

Builder: JinLong Yachts   Length: 46.5m

One of three 46M models arriving in 2024, China's largest upcoming delivery comes from the same series commissioned by famed martial artist and actor Jackie Chan. The Karate Kid star received his own 46-metre JinLong superyacht in 2019 after graduating from a 2017 Ruiying 125 motor yacht. According to BOATPro , all three yachts will share the same Mulder Design exterior with input from the Chinese shipyard on the interior.

Conrad C144S

Builder: Conrad Shipyard Length: 44.3m

Following the success of the yard's new flagship Ace , Conrad Shipyard is readying the finishing touches on the series' second hull, which pairs an exterior from Reymond Langton with interior design from M2 Atelier . Onboard highlights include a generous beach club, an infinity pool and an outdoor cinema on the top deck. Work is also continuing on an upcoming third hull, Project Moonlight , with plans for a fourth hull already in the works.

United Arab Emirates

Majesty 140.

Builder: Gulf Craft Length: 43.1m

Representing the sixth unit in Gulf Craft's Majesty 140 series, this upcoming motor yacht was sold to an owner with plans to cruise the Mediterranean during her debut summer season before making the annual migration to the Caribbean. Interiors from Cristiano Gatto host up to 12 guests in five cabins, with crew quarters split between the bow and the aft of the yacht for a total capacity of nine.

South Korea

Builder: Legacy Super Yachts Length: 41.2m

Initially called the Phoenix 130, construction of the Legacy 135 began on speculation as the first in a new series set to include 50- and 70-metre designs. The upcoming yacht has been designed and engineered by American design team Joe Lazzara and Ian Ombres of Lazzara Ombres Architects , with an industrial and art deco-inspired interior from French designer Alexandre Thiriat .

United States of America

Westport 135.

Builder: Westport Yachts Length: 41m

The ninth hull in the W125 series, this latest project from Westport has been "redefined" as a W135 after being lengthened from the model's usual 38.1 metres to a custom 40.99 metres. The yacht is currently undergoing sea trials and its final outfitting stage before being delivered to her new owner in April 2024, with both exterior and interior design owed to the shipyard's in-house team.

Project Seaview

Builder: MCP Yachts Length: 40.7m

Project Seaview builds on an existing partnership with Dutch studio Vripack , having previously collaborated on the 37.4-metre Queen Tati and the 43.8-metre Raffaella II . For this latest instalment, the pair opted for a layout that would maximise privacy onboard, featuring a 360-degree master cabin with its own private terrace and settee. The yacht also makes use of a separate crew staircase for minimal guest disturbances – a feature not typically seen in yachts of a similar size bracket.

Horizon RP122

Builder: Horizon Yachts Length: 37.2m

With a delivery date teetering on the horizon, this custom R122 model was commissioned for a repeat Horizon Yachts owner with an expressed love for reef fishing. Special requests were made to house the owner's fishing and diving gear in the beach club, with added capacity for an ice chipper meant for freshly caught fish. At 37.2 metres, the yacht will be the largest of the J.C. Espinosa -designed RP series.

Builder: SilverYachts Length: 35.5m

Technically being built at the SilverYachts facility in China, the Australian shipyard began construction on the second hull in its SpaceCat series on speculation back in 2021. The yacht features exterior design by acclaimed designer Espen Øino , who has previously described the SpaceCat as a "bold undertaking" due to its efficient weight savings and clever internal layout. According to SilverYachts, the series is set to expand with an entry-level 22-metre model and a mid-level 24-metre model.

United Kingdom

Project fox.

Builder: Pendennis Length: 34.9m

Designed as a compact explorer for adventurous owners, Project Fox is on track to meet her slated delivery of March 2024. The 295 GT motor yacht includes an expansive 103.5-metre open aft deck capable of storing a pair of 7.5-metre tenders, plus the option of submersibles, Jet Skis or any other toys the owner might like. Other crowd-pleasing features include a DJ station, glass-walled sky lounge and dedicated wine fridge.

Builder: StellarPM Length: 33m

The StellarONE series offers a masterclass in supplying ample features on a relatively small platform. A beach club, tender garage, Tier III engines and a master cabin with its own fold-out balcony are only some of the highlights concealed within a 299 GT frame – and all for less than $10 million. In addition to the StellarONE108, the series will include full displacement and semi-displacement 118 and 130 models.

Builder: Granocean Length: 32m

Azure III is currently in the final stages of construction at Granocean's Zhongshan facility, where she will emerge as the yard's largest full-custom power catamaran to date. Onboard features include a generous swimming pool and lounge area on the foredeck, positioned transversely between the hulls. Inside, accommodations include an owner's suite, two additional VIP cabins and additional crew cabins.

South Africa

Builder: S outhern Wind Length: 31.4m

The fifth hull in Southern Wind's popular SW96 series was commissioned by a repeat client and has been designed to balance comfortable family cruising with more performance-oriented experiences. Once delivered, Liberty will join sisterships Nyumba , Ammonite , Seatius and Sorceress on the water.

Builder: Nautor Swan Length: 28.3m

In addition to being the first Swan 88 , this upcoming sailing yacht represents Nautor Swan's first-ever delivery with hybrid electric propulsion. The yacht also has a maximum heeling angle of 20 degrees paired with a four-metre draught, fashioning what the yard refers to as a "no-compromise cruiser with a racer soul". Further customisations include options for a shallow draft, telescopic and performance keel.

Grand Banks 85

Builder: Grand Banks Length: 25.9m

The first Grand Banks model to crest the 24-metre mark, the GB 85 is also notable for its V-Warp technology, which the yard has stated requires half the fuel of similarly-sized yachts. The model comes in an enclosed flybridge or open sky lounge configuration with accommodation for up to 10 guests. This upcoming GB 85 follows in the footsteps of the yard's flagship delivery, Betty , with a third hull already in build.

Highland Fling XVIII

Builder: Gunboat Length: 24.7m

Gunboat's flagship catamaran was commissioned by an experienced yachtsman and is expected to be one of the fastest in its size bracket. Capable of exceeding true wind speed at just six knots, Highland Fling XVIII is optimised for racing with a competitive, ultra-lightweight construction made of carbon fibre. Her striking red exterior is owed to fellow French studio VPLP , with interiors by Chedal Anglay Design .

The following pages offer a preview of significant launches you’re likely to stumble across on the docks this fall and in the coming year. Several of these vessels are scheduled to be included in the judging for Cruising World ’s 2024 Boat of the Year. You can follow the URLs for a deeper dive into boats that pique your interest, and inspect them in person at a show near you or at private showings arranged by dealers.

Bali Catsmart 38

Designed by Piaton Yacht Design, the Catsmart (pictured above) offers comfort and relaxation with a spacious galley, an ergonomic chart table, and panoramic sea views from a well-lit, open space. This 38-footer maintains the brand’s signature features, such as the Bali door and the rigid deck of the forward cockpit. There are twin helm stations for easy sailing maneuvers, and the layout is well-suited for leisure sailing and family time at anchor. As the smallest model in the Bali catamarans range, it incorporates the brand’s latest innovations: The Catsmart has a forward cockpit with lounging and sunbathing areas, a platform connecting the transoms with seating and stowage, a practical davit system, and sliding side windows that open to create an entertaining space that spans the galley, salon, and cockpit. bali-catamarans.com

Contest 49CS/50CS

After a pandemic pause, Contest Yachts has reemerged with two new models, both drawn by judel/vrolijk & co. The Contest 49CS and 50CS are both 50-foot sailboats but with quite different layouts. The 49CS has spacious twin staterooms aft, a rarity in this size sailboat, while the center-cockpit 50CS replaces its predecessor, emphasizing boathandling and stowage. Both models balance topside height and beam aft for standing headroom while integrating natural lighting and inventive features such as the 50CS’s transom window with a molded stairway for tender access. Both models also offer a choice of all-electric propulsion with a Torqeedo or BMW-based system for true bluewater range. contestyachts.com

The Dufour 41 introduces a fresh perspective on outdoor living with its spacious cockpit and proven design that’s fast and responsive to sail. This 41-foot-10-inch cruiser offers a sense of space comparable to larger vessels. Sailing performance is courtesy of the shipyard’s relationship with designer Umberto Felci. The Dufour 41 blends modernity and light while keeping the Dufour brand’s DNA intact. The design’s attention to space and flow allows effortless movement on board, while its robust build promises agility on the ocean. The 41 offers options for living areas: The three-stateroom version has an expansive owner’s space, and each stateroom has a bathroom. In the four-stateroom model, which can host up to 10 guests, the Dufour 41 has two forward staterooms with soundproofing. Both versions have long-term stowage and a large galley. dufour-yachts.com

Elan Impression 43

The Elan Impression 43 is the epitome of a modern family cruiser. Designed by Humphreys Yacht Design and styled in collaboration with Pininfarina, this yacht has a wide-beam hull that maximizes interior space. Its 3D VAIL composite technology is used to create superior sailing characteristics, while the twin-rudder design maximizes control and stability, reducing broaching tendencies. The spacious cockpit has seating and a modular table that can be transformed into sun beds for relaxation. Inside are a well-appointed salon and a galley. With options for three or four staterooms, the Impression 43 is versatile enough to accommodate families or groups. elan-yachts.com

Fountaine-Pajot 80

The Fountaine-Pajot 80 sailboat combines function and sophistication. Its forward and aft cockpits connect to the salon, providing expansive relaxation areas. The staterooms, resembling refined suites, feature leather upholstery and wood accents. The heads, including a hot tub in the owner’s cabin, offer a spa-like experience. The salon has open circulation, large glass windows, a lounge, a bar and a chart table. Additional features include side cockpits with opening wings, a sea-view beach club, and toy stowage. The glazed coachroof and windows provide broad views, while the flybridge offers dedicated relaxation and navigation zones. Twin helm stations and strategic winch placement separate crew areas from leisure spaces. fountaine-pajot.com

Grand Soleil 65 LC, 72 LC

Cantiere del Pardo’s Grand Soleil 65 Long Cruise embodies performance, style and innovation. Designed by Franco Corazza, a seasoned racer, its epoxy-based vacuum vinylester resin hull combines biaxial fiberglass and unidirectional carbon fabrics for lightness and strength. The Long Cruise version places the salon closer to the cockpit, enhancing views and beam, and prioritizing cruising while maintaining performance. The Italian design and subtle interiors exude elegance. The salon splits into relaxation and dining spaces, with a stateroom area aft and an open galley amidships. Also launched this year, the flagship Grand Soleil 72 Long Cruise has a deckhouse with a widened, shortened and raised 270-degree window compared with the Performance model. grandsoleil.net

The Gunboat 80 builds on the 68’s design, with a racing-focused layout and luxurious features. Sporting large, asymmetrical boards and T-foil rudders, its lightweight, 28-ton build emphasizes performance. The boat can reach 14 to 15 knots in moderate winds, and nearly 30 knots in strong breezes. Designed by VPLP with Chedal Anglay Design’s minimalist style, the yacht has an owner’s stateroom with a private companionway. Customizable guest staterooms, en suite bathrooms and separate crew quarters are available. Sliding doors connect the cockpit to the salon, creating an expansive open space. With two helm stations and the potential for a forward nacelle helm, the boat blends practicality and versatility. Another Gunboat 80, set to sail as a family-cruising model, is under construction for a summer 2024 debut. gunboat.com

Hallberg-Rassy HR 40C, HR 57

The Hallberg-Rassy 40C follows the Hallberg-Rassy 44’s legacy. Embodying comfort, performance and aesthetics, it replicates attributes in the salon, galley and aft stateroom. The cockpit mirrors the 44’s dimensions for exceptional sailing. Two galley choices are offered, one with expanded workspace and stowage, and with room for a dishwasher and microwave. Aft-stateroom options include twin berths or a centerline berth with a settee and makeup table. The interior features African khaya mahogany or European oak, with ample ventilation. Exterior design integrates modernity with hallmark features. A user-friendly rig and optional hardtop dodger enhance the sailing experience. The model offers small or foldout swim platforms and a concealed electric windlass. The HR 57, designed by Germán Frers, will also debut in the United States this fall with a streamlined sail plan. hallberg-rassy.com

The Hanse 510 is a collaboration with Berret-Racoupeau’s designers. This yacht introduces a hull design with bow and aft chines for improved waterline efficiency and performance. The vessel offers notable interior space and has a garage capable of holding an inflated dinghy more than 8 feet long, with the Hanse Smart Tender System for launching. The options list varies from a washing machine in the utility room to flat-screen TVs in the master stateroom and salon. The builder’s Flagship Package includes fine fabrics and materials, as well as a hidden bar behind a folding backrest. hanseyachts.com

The HH44 is a catamaran with electrification and carbon reinforcement for tech-savvy sailors, cruisers, and racers. The HH44-OC is intended for family bluewater cruising with an aluminum mast and mini keels, while the sportier HH44-SC has carbon daggerboards, a carbon rig, and solar panels for race-level performance. Designed for hybrid propulsion and solar power, it offers emissions-free motoring. Folding transoms enhance safety and living space. Clean decks, an enclosed cockpit, and hidden lines ensure security. An angular cabin design, forward-facing windows, and EVA-foam decking add comfort. Self-tacking staysails and adaptable helm positions are other notable features. hhcatamarans.com

Jeanneau 55

The Jeanneau 55—a collaboration between Philippe Briand Yacht Design, Winch Design and Jeanneau—finds inspiration in catamarans for space optimization. At 40,878 pounds with a D/L of 125.5 and a 26 percent ballast-to-displacement ratio, it extends its beam throughout, emphasizing a topside chine for interior volume. DWL measures 52 feet, 7 inches; overall length reaches 52 feet, 11 inches with minimal overhang. Twin rudders align with draft choices of 8 feet, 4 inches and 6 feet, 5 inches. The layout includes three staterooms and an unusual galley-salon setup. The cockpit has flanking settees aft of the twin helms. An optional, retractable hardtop arch covers the cockpit. Versatile rig options accompany the yacht’s elegant blend of performance, comfort and style, catering to globe-trotting sailors. jeanneau.com

The Knysna 550 (top) is a 55-foot sailing catamaran that merges luxury and performance. Evolving from the Knysna 440, 480 and 500, it balances opulence and capability. With a flybridge for enhanced visibility and diverse layouts, the model elevates high-performance sailing while ensuring comfort. Intuitive flybridge helm control complements its sporty design. The Knysna 550 also has customizable interiors with premium finishes. knysnayachtco.com

Beneteau Oceanis 37.1

The Oceanis 37.1 (bottom), the pinnacle of the seventh Oceanis Cruiser generation, retains the line’s hallmark traits while prioritizing eco-friendly sailing. Resembling the Oceanis 30.1 and 34.1, it has an open, backstay-free deck with double spreaders for improved performance. Aft winches enable easier shorthanded handling, accompanied by instruments including a 7-inch plotter at the starboard helm. Stability and power are enhanced through the flared-hull design with integrated ribs, without compromising volume. The interior has a roomy salon offset to port and a forward stateroom with large portholes. The Oceanis 37.1 comes in cruising and performance versions, and an eco-conscious approach is highlighted by electric propulsion, as well as Iroko wood decks suitable for serene inland waters and open seas. beneteau.com

Italia 12.98, 14.98

Italia Yachts’ 12.98 and 14.98 hulls are designed for cruising and racing enthusiasts. The IY 12.98 is a sleek design built for speed. Its ergonomic deck layout and balanced hull combine comfort and performance. Notable hydrodynamic features include variable aft waterline sections for dynamic length, and reduced wetted surfaces for improved light-wind performance. The interior is ecology-driven with wicker, cotton and linen, emphasizing habitability and comfort. The IY 14.98 targets extended cruising but retains a racing DNA, merging it with a family-oriented exterior that includes multiple heads and a good amount of stowage. italiayachtsinternational.com

Seawind 1170, 1370

The Seawind 1170 blends classic Seawind features into a contemporary design that’s suited for coastal cruising and offshore sailing. Its spacious layout, trifold doors and enclosed twin helms define the boat’s essence. The base model includes inboard 29 hp diesel engines, mini keels, and spade rudders. Notable features include an extended solar-panel-friendly cockpit roof, added headroom, a longeron with an optional bowsprit, and an aft-facing portlight for improved cabin ventilation. Rainwater collection, helm-seat stowage and a telescopic transom ladder enhance functionality. Also debuting this year, the Seawind 1370 is a cruising catamaran with panoramic windows, a forward-facing nav station, a large galley and a sheltered cockpit. With solar panels and twin helm stations, it’s a boat intended to allow for self-sufficiency. seawindcats.com

The Solaris 44 is all about fast cruising or racing with a reduced crew. For easier handling, all lines lead to accessible winches. The boat also has a recessed mainsail traveler and coaming winches for asymmetrical spinnaker deployment. An efficient aft beam with twin rudders enhances performance. Spacious sail and cockpit lockers, separate life raft stowage, and a nearly 14-foot beam characterize the deck layout. Twin berths are in the stern stateroom, which highlights the simplicity of design by Javier Soto Acebal and the Solaris design team. An oak interior with three staterooms, two heads, and a separate shower is standard, with deck options including hydraulic systems and various sail configurations. solarisyachts.com

X-Yachts Xc 47

The X-Yachts Xc 47 expands the builder’s XCruising line of offshore-cruising yachts. With a length just shy of 50 feet and a beam of nearly 15 feet, the boat is intended for long-distance cruising with a smaller crew. The cockpit layout prioritizes helmsman maneuvers, positioning winches forward of steering wheels and routing sheet lines below the deck. A repositioned mainsheet track and a deep, secure cockpit enhance comfort and maneuverability. The aft deck has full-width seating and a sun deck. The semideck salon design of the superstructure maximizes views and natural light, and allows for a multilevel layout with improved stowage. The hull has slim forward sections, ample rocker, and a modern stern for stability. Built using vacuum-infused epoxy and fiberglass sandwich construction with carbon-fiber reinforcement, the XC 47 is scheduled to launch in early 2024. x-yachts.com

Island Spirit 525

The Island Spirit 525 incorporates a slew of client preferences with a walk-through salon, trampoline-equipped forward seating, a spacious flybridge, communal aft seating, a sizable galley, a dining area aft, and en-suite-stateroom layouts, including crew quarters. Its sail plan complements the light displacement for robust sailing performance. The boat also has an electric drive system with a 55 kWh range extender, 65 kW drive motors, 210 kWh E-drive storage, and up to 4.8 kW of solar supplemental charging. (The design requires only 37 kW to achieve 8 knots.) Flexible configurations for three to six staterooms and optional forepeak staterooms include en suite facilities and queen-size berths with stowage. navigare-yachting.com

The Pegasus 50 is a shorthanded bluewater-sailing yacht that combines safety, speed, ease of handling, and comfort. Penned by Marine Designs, the vessel has robust construction and advanced technologies. The 360-degree-window design floods the salon, galley and nav station with light. That space connects via a sliding safety-glass door to the cockpit. Additional safety features include a windshield, a solid roof, sturdy railings, and well-placed handholds. Modern hull lines, twin rudders, a tandem keel, an optimized sail plan, and lightweight, strong construction should allow for swift sailing for racing enthusiasts and cruisers alike. Inside, a gimbaled dinette, forward-facing nav station, galley, three berths, and two heads with showers enhance onboard comfort. pegasus-yachts.com

The Largest Superyachts Set to Launch in 2024

By Frances Flannagan

Details about the largest superyachts in build are often kept tightly under wraps, guarded as industry secrets and generally only seen for the first time when they are launched. Using a combination of research into vessels currently under construction and acknowledging recent speculations, we take a look at the largest superyachts set to launch in 2024 as the industry eagerly awaits more information on these stand-out vessels.

SOMNIO - 222m

SOMNIO is set to be the world’s largest yacht with a LOA of 222m. Shipbuilding giant VARD is undertaking this mammoth build, working closely with  Winch Design and Tillberg Design of Sweden who are responsible for her design. She will be the world's first 'yacht-liner', offering a number of exclusive, and highly customisable, residences onboard for purchase.

SOMNIO translates to ‘Dream’ in Latin, which is no surprise as this 222m vessel is certainly something of a dream-like quality. Referred to as ‘the most exclusive address in the world’, she is set to offer her owners and guests an intimate community at sea, exuding effortless style and comfort onboard. She will be equipped with all of the services that one would find in a six-star resort; for example, her aft deck will be the main hub, featuring a lavish beach club, two spas and sumptuous outdoor lounges.

SOMNIO embodies the new era of yacht life, and her launch is set to be a ground-breaking moment for the superyacht industry.

Project Deep Blue - 130m+

Following her technical launch which took place in July 2023, Lürssen’s Project Deep Blue is set to officially launch this year. She is estimated to have a LOA of over 130m, with all aspects of her build and design being kept tightly under wraps.

It is speculated that she has an interior volume of around 9,000 GT and she is set to be the 14th largest yacht built by the German yard, taking her place between 135m CRESCENT and 126.2m OCTOPUS.  She will take the rank of 26 in the Superyachts.com Top 100 largest yachts in the world following her official launch.

Project 821 - 118.8m

In April 2022, Feadship revealed the hull of 118.8m Project 821: the largest yacht ever built by the Dutch yard. Her construction is highly secretive, with little known about the project, although the initial renderings show her to have a voluminous exterior and a sleek, curvaceous profile.

Project 821 will prove a highly exciting event for Feadship as she will become the shipyard’s flagship vessel, surpassing 110m ANNA , launched in 2018, and 118m Project 1010 . She will rank 37 in the Top 100.

Freire Explorer (NB-729) - 105m

Following the successful launch of 112m RENAISSANCE  last year, Freire Shipyard is currently building NB-729: a 105m motor yacht and the third Top 100 superyacht built by the Spanish shipyard.

Her build is highly secretive, with no information revealed as of yet, although we can expect her to follow in the footsteps of her 112m sistership as a vessel exuding unparalleled luxury and comfort. RENAISSANCE can accommodate 36 guests with an entire deck dedicated to fitness, wellness and pampering, these features setting the precedent for another exceptional build by the Spanish yard. NB-729 will rank 68  in the Superyachts.com Top 100 list.

Project  JASSJ - 103m

Technically launched in December 2023, Lürssen’s 103m Project JASSJ is due to be officially launched this year. She features a steel hull, aluminium superstructure, powerful profile and several spacious decks. Her exteriors and interiors are penned by RWD and is able to accommodate 20 guests across ten cabins, speculated to harbour numerous expansive social spaces.

Moran Yacht & Ship are the project managers of this build, which is expected to boast a traditional Lürssen bow shape, a tender garage, a beach club and an aft swimming pool. Project JASSJ will take the 73rd spot in the Top 100 world's largest yachts this year.

- - -

Other large superyachts set to launch in 2024 are Turquoise Yachts’ 87m Project VENTO , Damen Yachting’s 80m Amels 80 and Lürssen’s 78m ACE 21 . 2024 is already geared up to be an exceptional year for the superyacht industry, and we at Superyachts.com cannot wait to see what exciting events will unfold throughout the year.

Miami International Boat Show

Elevated interest rates, economic uncertainty, and a cooling boating market don’t appear to be lessening the appeal of the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show, which kicks-off its five-day run on Wednesday.

With six venues spread across downtown Miami and Miami Beach and an expected crowd of over 100,000 forecasted to attend through the Presidents’ Day holiday weekend, the first major U.S. show this year could be a banner event. “It’s the world’s largest boat and yacht show, offering everything from kayaks to superyachts, plus the latest equipment,” says Andrew Doole, president of Informa’s U.S. Boat Shows division. The stats back him up: There will be more than 1,000 boats from kayaks to superyachts on display, with more than 1,000 exhibitors.

The show will have a VIP program called Windward that provides access to lounges and transportation between the event’s six locations. The exclusive offering will also give access to Superyacht Miami and Art Wynwood.

Here are 10 boats, from global debuts to recently launched brokerage superyachts, that will define this year’s event.

AK Yachts ‘Victorious’

new yachts 2024

The star of this year’s Miami show? That title will likely go to the 278-foot globe-trotting explorer Victorious from the Turkish yard, AKYacht. Taking up much of the dock space at the Yacht Haven Grande superyacht display, Victorious is coming to MIBS looking for a buyer. Asking price? A cool $129 million. This recipient of a 2022 Robb Report “Best of the Best” award is owned by Turkish entrepreneur Vural Ak, who bought the half-completed superyacht in 2016 from New Zealand billionaire Graeme Hunt and had it towed back to Turkey for completion. With an interior design by Britain’s H2 Yacht Design, Victorious offers sumptuous accommodation for 24 guests across 12 staterooms. It also comes with such luxuries as a massive wellness center with a beauty salon and steam room, a wine cellar, a cinema, two wood-burning fireplaces, and a well-designed playroom for kids. The range of 14,000 nautical miles at 13 knots shows that this vessel can go the distance.

Azimut Magellano 30M

new yachts 2024

Azimut’s new Magellano 30 Metri splashed way back in January 2022. The flagship of its popular explorer series was originally scheduled to debut at last September’s Cannes boat show, which never happened. It’s finally making its “world premiere” at Miami. This new 98-foot 30M looks fresh, with a striking exterior by naval architect Ken Freivokh and glass-rich interior by Vincenzo De Cotiis. With its trademark wood slats by the stern cockpit and towering hull sides, the yacht is instantly recognizable as being from the Magellano series. The Miami showboat is the first in the U.S. and is currently listed for sale at $12.75 million. It’s said to have over $3 million in options, including upgraded MAN 1900 diesels.

Benetti ‘Grateful’

new yachts 2024

Less than a year old, the 112-foot Benetti Grateful  will offer some lucky buyer the opportunity to skip the waiting list and take delivery of what is essentially a brand-new boat, in time for summer cruising in the Hamptons. Another bonus: the asking price of $15.9 million is reckoned to be well below the replacement cost. With an exterior design by Britain’s RWD studios, this Benetti 34M Oasis boasts one of the best beach clubs of any sub-120-foot superyacht, courtesy of fold-down terraces on each side, a glass-sided plunge pool overlooking the hydraulic swim platform, and even a cocktail bar. Add to this a contemporary interior in 50 shades of gray and beige by New York architectural firm Bonetti/Kozerki. Grateful ‘s twin 1,380 hp MTU diesels give her a 16-knot top speed and, at 10 knots, the range is 2,700 nautical miles.

Itama 62 RS

new yachts 2024

If ever a boat was designed for the fast-living, look-at-me Miami boating lifestyle, it’s the Italian-built Itama 62RS . Launched back in 2011 with a wave-cleaving, deep-vee hull that dates back to Itama’s classic FiftyFive model from the mid-2000s, this classically styled 62-footer got a full makeover back two years ago. Now it’s being displayed for the first time in the U.S. at Miami. Looking like some classic 80s rocketship from Miami’s fabled Thunderboat Row, it has an impressively long foredeck, a wraparound windshield, and impressive power and performance. How impressive? With twin MAN V12 turbo diesels cranking out 1,400 hp each, the yacht has a top speed well over 40 knots. The cockpit can hold a crowd of up to 14, with three en suite cabins below deck accommodating up to six.

Formula 457 Center Console Sport

new yachts 2024

Formula Boats’s popular 387 Center Console Sport is getting a new big brother. Being unveiled at MIBS is the all-new 457 Center Console Sport, which becomes the second-largest boat in the Formula line-up, behind the 500 Super Sport Crossover flagship. Part dayboat and part fishing machine, this new 45-footer comes with Formula’s proven FAS3TECH deep-vee hull and elongated hardtop with an opening windshield and air-conditioning, plus two rows of bolstered sports seats. Up front there’s plenty of seating, while a port-side door in the console leads down to a comfy cabin with a small galley, a head compartment, and a forward double bed. In keeping with Formula’s go-fast heritage, this new 457 comes with triple Mercury Verado 600 V12s. And next summer Formula is unveiling the 457 Center Console Fish version with an upper helm.

Riva 82 Diva

new yachts 2024

The unveiling of a new Riva makes for a red-letter day at any boat show. And while the Italian yard’s latest 82 Diva flybridge had its premiere at last year’s Cannes show, it’ll be one of the showstoppers at Miami where it will be making its U.S. debut. This sleek, high-sided 82-foot beauty, from the drawing board of Officina Italiana Design, is distinguished by that unmistakable, swept-up hull feature line, a raked-back windshield, and a spacious flybridge. It also features a first for Riva: a beach club with fold-down bulwark terraces on each side. And when you have Piero Ferrari, son of Enzo, overseeing the design and engineering team, you know it will be fast. Powered by twin 1,900 hp MAN V12 turbo diesels, the Diva boasts a top speed of 31 knots.

Chris-Craft Launch 27, 150th Anniversary Edition

new yachts 2024

Happy 150th to all Chris-Craft owners. In 1874, Christopher Columbus Smith started building wooden skiffs and inboard boats in Algonac, Michigan. To mark this auspicious milestone, the manufacturer—now based in Sarasota, Fla.—is unveiling a Sesquicentennial version of its iconic Launch 27 sports bowrider. There aren’t too many dramatic changes: The silver-gray hull gets an aquamarine boot stripe that was one of the builder’s signature colors in the early years. The hand-stitched, embossed leather cover on the steering wheel has a special 150th Anniversary cap and a Chris-Craft 150 welcome page on the chart-plotter. There is also an aquamarine-edged 150th burgee on the flagpole. It’s fitting that the classic Launch 27 was chosen to celebrate the 150 years of the brand since it was the first model in the current Chris-Craft’s lineup.

Boston Whaler 365 Conquest

new yachts 2024

More than a few Boston Whaler devotees were upset when the much-loved 345 Conquest fishing machine quietly slipped out of production last year after a long, nine-year run. Thankfully their disappointment should be short-lived because the Miami show sees the unveiling of the 345’s spiritual successor, the all-new 365 Conquest. Loosely based on the larger, flagship 405 Conquest, the newcomer sees the 405’s quartet of Mercury Verado 400s replaced with triple 400 V10s. And while the 365 shares hull and superstructure design cues with the 405, the hardtop gets a new curvier windshield and increased glass in the pilothouse, plus a new upper helm station. The Edgewater, Florida-based division of Brunswick Corporation nicknames its new 365 Conquest the “SUV of the sea” courtesy of its unsinkable hull design, offshore capabilities, and “transformer” cabin, where the dining area transitions to sleeping quarters at the touch of a button.

Tiara EX 54

new yachts 2024

The slogan for Tiara Yachts’s brand-new EX 54 cruiser, making its Miami debut, could be: “Honey, we shrunk the EX 60 .” Looking very much like a scaled-down version of its flagship 60, the 54-footer has inherited nearly all the best features of its larger brother. They include twin fold-down terraces on the cockpit with built-in doors, a side helm door, sliding glass rear windows with a drop-down section, and a large entertaining area in the bow. Of course, with six less feet to work with, the smaller aft cockpit has less lounging space. The Volvo IPS 950s diesels are also a step down in horsepower from the 60’s twin Volvo IPS 1050s or optional 1350s. Below-decks, the master is a tad smaller and bunk beds instead of twins define the guest cabin. Otherwise, the family resemblance remains intact.

Lazzara Yachts ‘Lanida’

new yachts 2024

Just gazing at this 92-foot, Florida-built Lazzara 92 LSX and you can almost hear that iconic Jan Hammer soundtrack to Miami Vice. Built in 2010, it’s fresh out of a major refit managed by Lazzara as well as the original crew that’s still with this go-fast superyacht. Named Lanida, which roughly translates to “free spirit,” the yacht has never been chartered and only lightly used. Now it’s on sale, with a $2.95 million asking price. What sets the yacht apart, in addition to that dramatic styling and silver metallic paint, is its impressive power. Squeezed tight into its engine room are four Volvo IPS 900, packing around 780 hp apiece. The combined 3,120 hp is enough to punch the LSX to a top speed of over 31 knots.

They have become popular for their stability, their excellent fuel efficiency, and enormous space on board. Now, the Prestige M8 will take center stage in the battle for supreme power cat designs. The M8 boasts a 350 nautical mile range and incorporates exceptional socializing areas thanks to the 30-foot beam.

WHAT ARE THE YACHT TRENDS FOR 2024?

yacht trends 2024

When looking towards the future of yachting, the trends seem to have remained the same - create more space for activities, open up the interior to the exterior as much as possible, and integrate technology throughout the boat to make it more like home. Moveable, unfixed furniture is no more common on cruising yachts, a trend that allows owners to move their sofas and chairs around to make the most of their space. Refinement of some of the usual yacht trend talking points are likely to stick around for 2024 as well including solar energy, electric engines, apps for control of your yacht's systems from your mobile device, and of course, better capabilities to run your business while on your yacht.

NEW ELECTRONICS TREND FOR 2024: STARLINK STANDARD

starlink service for yachts

High-speed internet while out cruising on your yacht is not a new thing, but yachts for sale on the brokerage market that already have Starlink set up will sell better in 2024. "More and more boats are now either being ordered with Starlink as an option or owners are equipping their yacht with it after its delivered," said Jay Hendrix , Vice President of SI Yachts. "If it's already on there and we list the boat for sale, we find that to be a feature that helps sell that yacht over others on the market." Starlink can now delivery 5TB of data to all guests and crew on board with only a latency of less than 99MS.

MOST USEFUL PRODUCT IN 2024: QUICKSTEP YACHT BOARDING SOLUTION

RECOMMENDED YACHT TOY FOR 2024: LIFT 3F EFOIL

Lift Efoil for yachts

The new Lift3 F eFoil is the new way to explore the surroundings of your yacht in a more personal way. The Lift eFoil technology utilizes a state-of-the-art battery system, a fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) propeller, a durable, aero-dynamic board, and a Bluetooth hand-controller to give you the ultimate foiling experience. Customize yours with your own colors and even the name of your yacht! The latest model offers more than 100 minutes of ride time before recharging is needed.

WILL 2024 HAVE MORE AVAILABLE YACHTS FOR SALE?

viking sportfish factory - yacht buyers guide 2024

It's no secret that the last few years of surging boat buying activity increased the wait time for new yachts built at the shipyards, but also depleted the inventory on the brokerage market. Will buying a yacht in 2024 be any easier? "We are starting to see much more normal wait times when you custom order a yacht," said Jay Hendrix. For Viking and Princess, you can receive your yacht within 12 months in most cases. SI Yachts is also ordering more inventory from the manufacturers to have boats on hand at our locations.. The brokerage market continues to be down overall in number of listings compared to 2018-2019 levels. Late-model, pre-owned yachts that have been well-maintained and have service records seem to still sell fast and for close to asking price.

News from our sponsor:, in-depth reviews & boat tests by type.

Boating ’s Tech Team of editors tests more than 100 boats per year. As such, they are the most experienced boat testers in the world, delivering boat buyers depth, scope, and insight not available from lesser, “boat reviewers.”

Search by boat type and enjoy the full reviews for:

Runabout Boats

Runabouts prove excellent boats aboard which to set out for a few hours on the water watching the sunset, joining the Friday lake parade, pulling a tube, or hitting a waterside restaurant. While other boat types afford much of those same opportunities, a runabout will carry you on such adventures with an emphasis on style and luxury. For all that, a few makers offer small, basic runabouts for boaters on a budget. Larger sizes, say over about 30 feet LOA, are often called “dayboats” nowadays.

Tiara Yachts 48 LE cruising

Watersports Boats

Watersports boats create wakes and waves so that you and your crew can enjoy, wakeboarding, wakesurfing and foiling. The boats best at this currently feature single V-drive inboard power. That said, boats that utilize forward facing sterndrives now deliver quite a good wakesurfing experience for boaters seeking to wakesurf in addition to other activities. Watersports boats come with special features, like towers, ballast systems and wave-shaping foils and tabs.

Centurion Fe22 wakesurfing

Seeking a boat with the ability to carry the most people, in the most comfort, for any given length? Buy a pontoon boat. Fitted with two or three, “logs,” or, “toons,” as the pontoons on which they ride are often called, these boats deliver high carrying capacity. The rectangular layout affords room for couches and lounges and just plain room to move around, that other boat types cannot offer at the same length. Most pontoon boats boast outboard power, with some multi-engine models capable of high speeds. Still, simple, modestly powered (and priced) pontoons are available from just about every builder. Still, again, many pontoons now come fitted-out with luxury, rivaling some runabouts in this regard.

Boating provides boat buyers with tests and walkthrough videos of all kinds of fishing boats. Whether shopping for a boat to catch bigmouths among the lily pads, or to chase offshore gamefish, or for any fishing-specific reason in between. Fishing boats may be made from fiberglass or aluminum, and most are outboard powered (larger, inboard-powered sportfisherman excepted). Renown for rugged construction and seaworthiness, many fishing boats now combine luxury with angling features. These allow boat buyers to use them as runabouts or dayboats one day, and fishing vessels the next.

Fort Lauderdale’s Pier Sixty-Six Re-Model

Pier Sixty-Six, located just minutes from Yachts360 Headquarters, will be undergoing a complete makeover in late 2024. Pier Sixty-Six Marina in Fort Lauderdale is a premier destination for boaters, situated along the Intracoastal Waterway offering upscale amenities and flexible docking options for various vessel sizes, facilities, on-site restaurants, and stunning views,

Some of the most exciting upgrades include, an additional waterfront restaurant, an upgraded fitness center, expanded event and ballroom spaces (including a rooftop lawn), and a two-tier pool deck featuring separate pools for adults and families.

Marine Industry Sustainability Efforts

The world of hybrid propulsion has seen decent growth over the past decade including electric power integration and the introduction of hybrid models in certain boat manufactures such as Greenline and Silent Yachts .

While most boater’s still rely on standard power and fuel based engines, here are a few reasons certain boaters may make the switch:

  • Fuel Efficiency:  By using electric power for low-speed cruising and maneuvering, hybrid boats can achieve better fuel efficiency, especially in situations where full engine power is not required.
  • Reduced Emissions:  Electric propulsion produces fewer emissions compared to traditional internal combustion engines. This is particularly beneficial in environmentally sensitive areas or where strict emission regulations are in place.
  • Quiet Operation:  Electric motors operate more quietly than traditional engines, providing a quieter and more comfortable experience for passengers and reducing noise pollution in marine environments.
  • Flexibility: Hybrid systems offer flexibility in choosing the most appropriate power source for different operating conditions, contributing to a more versatile and adaptable propulsion system.

Looking Forward To 2024:

new yachts 2024

In 2024, the boating scene is set to witness notable advancements and releases that will reshape the maritime experience. VoltSafe Tech’s shore power technology stands out for its efficiency and enhanced safety at marinas. The growing trend towards sustainable hybrid propulsion systems is driven by the desire for fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and a quieter operation. The launch of new vessels like the Mystique Boatworks 48 CC, SeaVee 400Z, and Spencer Yachts 80 has stirred anticipation with their promise of luxury and cutting-edge features.

As 2024 unfolds, boaters can look forward to a year marked by technological progress and a continued push to better the marine industry. Here’s to the New Year!

See Four Seasons' upcoming ultra-luxury cruise with a $350,000-a-week suite bigger than most homes

  • Four Seasons says it will begin sailing an  ultra-luxury yacht cruise in January 2026.
  • The 222-guest vessel would have 95 spacious suites and 11 dining options — but food wouldn't be free.
  • The largest suite would have four floors and bedrooms, a spa, and a price of $350,000 per sailing.

Insider Today

Four Seasons plans to expand its high-end hotels and resorts portfolio with a luxury 222-guest cruise ship.

The company says the 95-suite vessel will debut in January 2026 and cost a minimum of $20,000 per weeklong sailing.

For that price, the luxury hospitality giant says travelers would enjoy a one-to-one guest-to-staff ratio and massive suites spanning as many as four floors. If all goes as planned, the 679-foot-long Four Seasons I could become one of the most expensive and opulent options in the cruise industry.

The ultra-plush 14-deck Four Seasons I is scheduled for 19 voyages in 2026 to more than 130 Caribbean and Mediterranean ports.

new yachts 2024

Reservations opened two weeks ago. Those interested can register to join a waitlist or book through a travel agent.

So far, "sales have been very encouraging, and the demand is exciting to see," Thatcher Brown, chief commercial officer and head of joint operations for Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings, told Business Insider in a statement. The company is a joint owner and operator of Four Seasons Yachts.

Renderings make the Four Seasons I look as opulent as the brand's land-based properties.

new yachts 2024

Four Seasons says its vessel will have 95 suites ranging from 537 to 9,975 square feet, some with three bedrooms.

The smallest suite starts at $19,700 for a five-night roundtrip voyage to Athens, Greece.

No windowless interior cabins here: Like other ultra-luxe cruises, the suites would all have terraces and floor-to-ceiling windows.

new yachts 2024

Customers could expect upscale amenities like a walk-in closet, down-filled duvets and pillows, and marble dual vanity bathrooms, per Four Seasons.

The most premium suites would also feature additional accommodations for "personal assistants," such as au pairs or security personnel.

Some options, like the 7,952-square-foot Loft Suite, could be adjoined with seven other cabins to accommodate up to 20 people.

new yachts 2024

Without connecting cabins, the Loft Suite would already have three bedrooms and bathrooms, a powder room, and a sauna.

Others, like the largest Funnel Suite, would have its own spa and kitchen.

new yachts 2024

Four Seasons says the 9,975-square-foot mansion, partially perched in the ship's glass-lined funnel , will span four floors, four bathrooms, three bedrooms, and three powder rooms.

Not to mention the private elevator, pool, and $350,000-a-voyage price tag.

Accommodations of this price and size are generally unheard of in the cruise industry.

new yachts 2024

Luxury operator Silversea says the largest suite on its upcoming 728-guest Silver Ray will be 1,324 square feet. Competitor Regent Seven Seas' new Seven Seas Grandeur debuted in 2023 with a more expansive six-guest 4,443-square-foot option.

Both suites' sizes and prices — Regent's starts at $42,000 per person for a total of $252,000 at maximum occupancy — would be stunted by Four Seasons' promise of a 9,975-square-foot, $350,000 floating mansion.

But cabins with six-digit prices aren't unheard of.

new yachts 2024

While not a luxury cruise line, Royal Caribbean's popular three-floor townhouse on the new Icon of the Seas is being booked at an average of $100,000 a week — although it's about four times smaller than Four Seasons' largest.

Royal Caribbean and other mass-market cruise lines are beloved, in part, for their unlimited complimentary food options.

new yachts 2024

Regent Seven Seas' all-inclusive fare also covers caviar, foie gras, and Champagne.

But don't expect any of these to be free on the Four Seasons I.

Breakfast would be complimentary. Lunch, dinner, and booze would not.

new yachts 2024

The vessel's 11 restaurants and lounges would be priced similarly to Four Seasons' on-land properties. (A dinner entrée at its resort on the Caribbean island of Nevis — also one of the ship's destinations — ranges from $34 to $163.)

The pricing structure may sound odd to most cruise traditionalists. (Hey, at least WiFi would be "free.")

new yachts 2024

But some of the ship's amenities could look familiar: Like most cruise liners, the Four Seasons I would have a pool, spa, and clubs for children and teens.

The company also promises a lounge and marina that will open onto the water, giving guests direct access to activities like snorkeling or windsurfing.

Four Seasons Yachts plans to take delivery of its $399 million vessel, now being built by famed Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, in late 2025.

new yachts 2024

A second Fincantieri-built ship would join the hospitality company's fleet the following year. The next vessel would cost more than 400 million euros, about $429.2 million, Four Seasons says.

This isn’t Four Seasons' first foray into itinerary-based vacations.

new yachts 2024

The company has also found "tremendous success" in its private jet-based "cruises," Alejandro Reynal, the president and CEO of Four Seasons, told BI in a statement.

Its 2024 vacation-by-air itineraries started at $135,000 for a 16-day Asia tour. Demand has been growing, he said, "signaling that luxury travelers are looking for immersive, exclusive, end-to-end travel journeys that allow them to explore the world with their favorite brands."

But its new ultra-luxe cruise arm would be entering an increasingly crowded luxury market, soon to be dominated by like-minded hospitality giants.

new yachts 2024

High-end Aman Resorts and Orient Express plan to launch their own luxury cruises in 2027 and 2026, respectively.

Staying ahead of the competition, Ritz-Carlton debuted its first 149-suite Evrima yacht cruise in 2021, with a second 224-cabin ship scheduled to begin sailing later this year. Its least expensive itinerary is currently $5,100 per person for a six-night voyage from Barbados to Puerto Rico in early 2025.

Interested in a hotelier-owned vacation at sea but don't want to pay the luxury price tag? Margaritaville's cruise is an affordable $75 for two nights.

The Fisherman’s 2024 Boat Buyers Guide

50 boat options for ‘24.

With COVID lockdowns and supply chain issues disappearing in the rear view mirror, the good news is that there are plenty boats available at local dealers for those coastal anglers who are either stepping up or getting into the game for the first time.

While we’re entering the New Year with elevated interest and inflation rates, many financial pundits predict smoother sailing as we get into the 2024 calendar year, so that’s a plus. Since there seem to be plenty of boats to be had at the moment, let’s take a closer look at some of 2024’s saltwater debutants.

Grady-White

new yachts 2024

One of the more impressive debutants introduced at this past Fort Lauderdale Boat Show was Grady’s new Canyon 386 bluewater sportfisher. To call it just a center console would be an injustice to this newbie’s true multi-mission capabilities as equal parts canyon sportfisher, weekend getaway SUV, family beach buggy and dockside entertainment platform. The Grady-White design team took the best of the former Canyon 376 and made it even better for this year’s Canyon 386, also borrowing technology from Grady’s flagship 456.

new yachts 2024

The new Canyon 386 features a 36-foot, 6-inch length supported by an extra wide 13-foot, 2-inch beam, making it the largest of any center console in its size class. That added square footage equates to a roomier cockpit and console interior, as well as an expansive helm and a lean bar full of conveniences. This extra acreage is immediately evident at the helm, where four luxurious adjustable deluxe contoured helm chairs with flip-up bolsters and fold-down arm and footrests are strategically positioned behind the wraparound windshield, providing all day comfort and protection from the elements. The captain sits centered on the sleek black helm with a full view of the large flush mount electronics area and easy access to push button controls. An integrated T-top encompasses the roomy helm area and all four seats and comes complete with standard SureShade, see-through hatch, storage net, radio box, six rod holders, LED spreader and recessed lights. Down below, a large, enclosed head area with sink, china head and stand-up shower provides privacy for weekend getaways. The galley is well-appointed with a stainless-steel sink, microwave, a large refrigerator drawer and a rich cherry dinette table, which converts into a spacious double berth. Other features include air conditioning, natural lighting, lots of storage, storage for eight rods and a standard 24-inch TV.

New for 2024, the Cobia 240 CC seamlessly meshes tournament capability, family comfort and style into an attractive center console. Built on a proven hull with excellent fuel efficiency and open water running performance, the intelligent deck layout maximizes form and function. A wide open cockpit with level floor from bow to stern, twin 33-gallon in-floor fishboxes, a 28-gallon livewell and a standard aft tackle station are designed to meet even the most hardcore angler’s needs. When the fishing is done and it’s time to kick back with friends and family, the 240 CC is equally adept for a sunset cruise or casual day at your favorite sandbar or beachside getaway. Passengers and guests will appreciate the big boat amenities like the forward-entry walk-down head, hideaway rear bench seat with backrest and the upgrade cushion packages that include double-bolstered helm seats and forward-facing backrests for the bow. It’s hard to find a better looking and more feature-packed 24-footer on the water, especially at the Cobia’s attractive price point.

The Cobia 240 CC measures 23 feet, 7 inches LOA, with an overwide 8-foot, 10-inch beam. She sports a 21-degree aft deadrise deep-vee running bottom with a max rating of 300 horsepower on the transom, so you can fit her out with either twin Yamaha F150s or a single F300. Either way, the 128-gallon fuel tank should take you a long way between fill-ups. Notable standards on the Cobia 240 CC include waterproof Deutsch electrical connectors; 24-quart insulated cooler under the forward console seat; S/S boarding ladder; freshwater sink in the console and freshwater shower at the transom; a total of seven pull-up cleats and four flush-mount rod holders in the gunwales and more.

New for the 2024 model year is Pursuit’s latest addition to the Offshore line-up, the OS 405. Although the name intimates that this hull’s overall length is 40 feet, she measures in at 43 feet overall counting her outboard platforms situated in each transom corner, supported by a wide 13-foot beam. A standard Seakeeper 6 gyroscopic stabilizer helps keep things on an even keel, whether you are fishing offshore in 3- to 5-foot seas or at a dockside cocktail party with a dozen friends and family leaning over to one side to watch a nighttime fireworks display. Another impressive standard feature on this new Pursuit is her 4kw horsepower bow thruster with separate Group 31 AGM Battery and Joystick Controller at the helm. This Florida girl comes standard with a Zipwake Series S Interceptor trim control system offeing fully automatic pitch and roll control when underway. Since one of her tasks is to take anglers offshore, the OS 405 will do it with real style, comfort and grace. Standard fishing features include both a 50-gallon livewell and a 75-gallon refrigeration fishbox tucked into the transom cap; an additional 89 gallons of capacity split between the port and starboard in-floor fishboxes; full cockpit breathable coaming bolsters with high density foam and much more. The cabin features a standup head, galley and overnight accommodations.

Powered by a trio of Yamaha F450 XTO V8 outboards, factory tests put her top speed at 55.1 mph at 6,000 rpm spinning 21-inch pitch XTO props, with an optimum cruising speed of 28.5 mph at 3,500 revs, drinking 38.9 gph for a fuel efficiency of 0.73 mpg. Operating at this throttle setting will tweak roughly 317 miles out of the 482-gallon tank with a 10% reserve. pursuitboats.com

Fresh off her re-introduction last year’s Lauderdale show, Contender’s popular 24S is back in production. I was able to do a detailed video review of her plusses and possibilities that’s available at TheFisherman.com .  Contender sport series boats are rigged for your specific needs. Custom options for diving, fishing and on the water fun make each Contender unique. The 24S is a great day tripping boat with plenty of range offered from the 130-gallon fuel capacity, depending if you opt for a single or twins. Factory tests show that she gets over 2.5 mpg at 30 mph when powered with a single Yamaha F300!

Some of this reimagined boat’s standard fishing and construction features include a hand-laid fiberglass hull using multi-directional fabrics and foam cored glass stringer system, with foam floatation; integrated dive platform, full transom and transom door; anchor locker storage; forward bench seating; removable forward center seat insert; twin 59-gallon storage compartments set under the forward seats; 94-gallon forward fish box; forward console seat with insulated storage; step down console with optional head; two 30-gallon aft fish boxes; oversized flush hatch bilge access; 26-gallon above-deck live well; plus aft seating with additional bilge access.

The running bottom on the 24S features a deep-vee forefoot that tapers back to 22.5 degrees of deadrise at the transom. This Florida girl has an LOA of 24 feet, 6 inches, a trailerable 8-foot, 6-inch beam and an 18-inch draft with her engine drives up. She’s rated to carry up to 300 horsepower so she’ll accommodate either a single 300 or twin 150s. Contender also introduced a new 26 Bay Boat for 2023.

The Dougherty family name is one of the icons in the boat building business. Bob Dougherty, Boston Whaler’s longtime head of engineering, was a visionary designer of center console sport fishing boats. And Solace Boats is proud of what they call the “Dougherty Difference.”  After moving Whaler’s plant from Massachusetts to Florida in 1982, Bob and his son Stephen launched EdgeWater Boats in 1992, then Everglades Boats a decade later. Stephen and Sarah Dougherty founded Dougherty Manufacturing in 2012, and by 2021 had launched three Solace boat models with a line that now includes five boats from 30 to 41 feet in length.

Solace boats are no “ordinary” center consoles. Engineered to harness the heightened horsepower of today’s high-performance outboard engines, Solace offers options, including the technologically advantaged Volvo Penta diesel stern drive, plus Mercury or Yamaha outboards. Using construction methods typically found in the aeronautics business, Solace incorporates the best materials and components along with state of the art manufacturing, employing vacuum bag infusion with carbon fibers and vinylester and epoxy resins, all of which allow their boats to be lighter and stronger. Their newest model, the 37CS, hits the water in January and is their fifth center console model that falls right in the middle of a fleet that includes the 30HCS, 32CS, 41CS and the diesel/sterndrive 415CS. Initial specs indicate she’ll have an overall length of 37 feet, 7 inches with an 11-foot beam. Her twin-stepped running bottom features 44 degrees of deadrise in the bow that tapers back to 23 degrees at the transom. Powered by triple 400 Merc V-10 Verados, she’ll take you a long way with her 515-gallon fuel capacity. Other standard fishing features include twin 30-gallon livewells and a 44-gallon insulated fishbox in the transom cap, 40- and 73-gallon in-floor fishboxes and enough rodholders where you’ll never run out of a spot to keep them safe and secure when needed.

STEIGER CRAFT

new yachts 2024

This Bellport, Long Island based boat builder has been in the business for over 50 years and is still a fan favorite with the coastal angling community. One of the most popular of Al Steiger’s fishing fleet, and the same boat that he has been running for the past few years, is the 31 DV Miami model. The 31 Miami is one of the most offshore ready fishing and family friendly pilot house vessels on the market today.  The 31 Miami’s helm features trim tab controls and a large dedicated mounting space for today’s popular big screen multi-function displays. Aft of the deluxe captain’s chair is a space for the optional refrigerator. The huge cockpit includes a large 120-gallon in-deck fish locker, 100-gallon in-deck livewell, over-head rocket launchers, recessed gunnel sinker trays and horizontal rod storage. The 31 Miami’s spacious cabin features enclosed head with porcelain toilet, large V-berth, stainless sink and counter space, as well as ample storage throughout. Air Conditioning/Heat with Shore Power/Inverter makes the cabin even more comfortable for overnight stays.

The Steiger 31 Miami features a 10-foot beam with a deep-vee running bottom that tapers back to 22-degrees of deadrise at the transom. It’s the perfect size for taking down even the largest fish in most sea conditions, while offering excellent performance with efficient twin 300 outboard power (350s are optional). A 300-gallon fuel capacity gives this Long Island girl a “canyon ready” 400-plus mile range. The 31 Miami’s hull is all hand-laid fiberglass, built around an indestructible “I-Beam” grid system that offers durability and a ridged core that reduces flex even under the roughest conditions. A Seakeeper gyro stabilizer is an available option for the 31 Miami. Steiger Craft builds boats with the confidence that they will last a lifetime, backed with a lifetime hull guarantee.

World Cat recently announced the launch of its newest model, the 260DC-X dual console, a next generation replacement to their popular model 255DC. The new 260DC-X began production July 2023 and is now available at World Cat dealers. “We didn’t just optimize,” said Chad Armstrong, VP of Sales & Marketing, “we revolutionized use of space, storage, comfort, and experience for a truly innovative World Cat 26-foot dual console.”  Innovations include a swivel cooler seat with cushion that stows in a locked position under the captain’s helm seat, while also swinging out for a convenient and comfortable starboard side-seat.

To ensure an unobstructed navigation from bow to stern, the door to the onboard head pivots out and back keeping the center aisle clear for passengers while allowing easy side entry into the roomy, well-appointed head. Mounted at the back of starboard-side helm chair is an entertainment area with Corian top for food prep, four drink holders and built-in tackle/storage bins and insulated drink box.  Like the 260CC-X center console introduced last year, the 260DC-X provides a fold-down 50-inch doublewide transom bench seat that easily folds down for a wide aft deck space and expanded casting deck along with easy on and off stern boarding. Convenient seating features include an optional bow table that’s easily removed, converting the area to a lounge space with an optional filler cushion; and the multi-use port cockpit seat with three seating configurations, specifically forward seating, aft leaning post position or portside rear facing chaise lounge. Owners have their choice of either twin Yamaha I4 F150s or F200s, or Mercury’s 200-horsepower V-6 outboards.

Consistent with the theme of the past few seasons of sport boat companies either introducing new fishing boat line-ups, or just outright purchasing known fishing boat companies (like Pursuit, Blackfin, Parker, Cobia, etc.), this is a growing and robust part of the boating industry at the moment. The folks at Finseeker, which is a brand of Crownline Boats located in the Midwest, took the first route. I spent some time at their booth down at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show discussing with their sales manager the attributes of the new Finseeker lineup.

The initial wave of Crownline’s Finseeker boats included a quartet of center consoles in the sweet spot for most Fisherman readers at 20, 21, 22 and 23 feet in length. Two newbies that were just introduced last season included the 260 and 280 dual consoles. These boats all share a unique family look with their Carolina flare bows that taper aft with broken sheer lines, complemented by a single stepped hull that Finseeker dubs their “Gen 2 Performance Fast Tab” hull. The 42-degree angle of entry featured on all Finseeker boats tapers back to 20-degrees aft, so these variable vee running bottoms are designed to tame the fickle nature of traversing open water. The aggressive 7.5-degree reverse chine angle is designed to keep quartering wind salt spray off the windshield and away from the passengers when underway. Myriad standard features make the Finseeker lineup something to check out if you are in the market for a new ride.

Valhalla Boatworks

new yachts 2024

Valhalla Boatworks, the outboard sportfish division of Viking Yachts, has introduced a pair of debutants for the 2024 model year, the V-29 center console and the hybrid V-28 Bay. For this update, we’ll focus on the V-29 model. Big boat features are apparent on this latest Valhalla with available Seakeeper 1, bow thruster, thru-stem claw anchor with windlass, Release helm chairs and an electric head with overboard discharge. These combine with bay boat features such as trolling motors, power poles and jack plates. The V-29 also features a 180-gallon fuel capacity, so range is maximized with the pairing of twin Mercury V6 225 four-strokes, a pair of Mercury V8 300 Verados or twin Yamaha V6 F300s.

The V-29 will excel on the tournament circuit due to its fish-focused layout. The aft flip-up bench seat, numerous helm seat options, console lounge and available forward bench seats tout her ability to be a yacht tender. Premium upholstery, available Bentley stitching and teak backrests add to the yacht finish of the V-29. The V-29 features a pair of 26-gallon livewells on the aft casting deck, an optional in-deck 40-gallon livewell aft of the helm seat and optional helm seating module with 45-gallon livewell. The V-29 also includes two insulated in-deck fish boxes in the cockpit that plumb to a Whale Gulper diaphragm pump, two mid-ship lockable storage boxes that will fit a total of 10 rods (five in each hatch) up to 75 inches and owners can fit up to 10-foot fly rods with extended tubes. A large in-deck hatch at the bow adds to the generous amount of onboard storage. Other standards include teak or faux teak helm pod; dual flush mounted 19-inch MFDs or a single 24-inch multi-function display from Garmin or Simrad; backlit labeled Bocatech switches; plus an overhead electronics pod to house a fusion stereo, VHF radio and additional accessories. Additionally, the V-29 is designed and engineered around the weight of the Seakeeper 1 while maintaining storage and deck space.

NorthCoast has introduced a new queen of the fleet, the 415HT. The basic hull features an overall length of 46 feet, 1 inch (with quad Yamaha F300 XSB outboards, bracket and standard bow pulpit) that supports a 12-foot, 11-inch beam and a deep-vee running bottom that tapers back to an aggressive 25 degrees of deadrise aft. This is the rock on which she is built. However, the 415HT is offered in both fishing and a cruising base layout, with a host of accommodations that support each specific mission. Counting her quad outboards and 619 gallons of fuel onboard, she’ll tip the scales north of 24,550 pounds fully loaded, which will enable owners to fish or cruise further, longer, with more crew onboard and in total comfort. “This is the first model where we have partnered with an outside design firm and we are confident the new Northcoast 415HT will exceed expectations on every level,” said Northcoast Boats Brand and C&C Fiberglass Components owner Jose DaPonte.  Thomas Degremont and Sam Howell of Langan Design Partners in Newport, RI were selected to work the NorthCoast team on the new 415HT.

Although Northcoast is no stranger to building seaworthy craft in the downeast tradition that can tolerate the New England coast’s extreme weather conditions, the new 415HT is a radical paradigm shift from the 255, 285 and 315HT models that we have tested in the past. She is on a totally different level. According to the Langan Design Partners, “The hull sports a deep-vee profile with 25-degrees dead rise at the transom, while keeping a subtle round-off at the keel, which gives the hull a little more lift aft and allows for a smoother transition to planing. The hull’s volume is optimized to handle multiple outboards and the top speed with quad F300s will be more than 50 mph.” That is some serious fast-lane traveling for a comfortable cabin sportfisher that exceeds 12 tons of displacement, sort of like a wolf in sheep’s clothing. northcoastboats.com

I spoke with Sailfish National Sales Manager Matthew Vetzner at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show where he mentioned that hot on the success of their new-for-2023 model 226 DC, they plan on introducing the center console version of this hull sometime in the spring of 2024. The new center console will feature the same sixth generation VDS running bottom as her dual console sister. Other design nuances planned for the center console version are a fully integrated T-Top; built in vertical rod holders on the console sides; head access from the bow via a large and roomy swing-out companionway; a reversible helm seat arrangement; full bench seats aft; transom doors both port and starboard; and convenient access to the bilge area to inspect and perform periodic maintenance on critical pumps and wiring. If the new center console is anything like her dual console sibling, she should be a real head turner and popular with coastal anglers.

In case you missed my review of the Sailfish 226 Dual Console in the August issue of The Fisherman , the family friendly layout can fit a minimum crew of seven onboard without breaking a sweat. There’s a wave gate and a three-step folding stainless steel boarding ladder set in the starboard corner of the transom, with a convenient 18-quart Baja Beach Cooler in the port corner of the  platform down at sea level and a 21-gallon circulating baitwell up above. Your passengers will feel secure with 27 inches of thigh-high cockpit depth. An ergonomic flip-up aft bench seat in the transom bulkhead lifts up to reveal convenient access to the bilge and batteries. This is complemented by a front/back lounge seat to port that is equipped with a gas-assist retracting backrest that converts it into a full-length sun lounger, along with insulated storage down under.  Look for the full review online at TheFisherman.com, and keep an eye out for Sailfish’s newest center console later this spring.

EASTERN BOATS

new yachts 2024

Sisu boats have been bouncing around Northeast coastal areas ever since designer Royal Lowell drew up their lines back in the 1970s. Originally, the three hulls that he drafted were 22, 26 and 30 feet in length. The majority of these were slated to be work boats and run single inboard powerplants at displacement speeds. Fast-forward to 2024; the company that originally manufactured the Sisu lineup is long gone and the molds were sold off, never to be seen or heard from again; that is until the 22 Sisu mold was purchased by Eastern Boats a few years back and the darling little 22 Sisu is back in business, albeit with a few contemporary tweaks.

Modern composite materials plus a couple of design tweaks have made her even better. Recessed chines reduce spray and add dynamic lift to her round chines as she accelerates, while a transom-mounted outboard frees up a huge amount of usable space in her cockpit. Owners can choose a traditional framed bass boat windshield with Bimini top at the helm or an open-sided hardtop pilothouse. On deck, the only fixtures are helm and companion pedestal seats mounted on storage boxes that double as aft-facing lower seats. The rest of the cockpit can accommodate a full-transom fishbox with a cushioned seat on top, a couple of folding chairs, or a portable livewell. The open pilothouse offers shelter from the elements, with optional roll-down sides and rocket launcher on top for additional rod storage. The cabin offers a 6-foot, 9-inch V-berth with a portable toilet and 69 inches of standing headroom. Performance is great with a modest 115-horsepower four-stroke outboard, fueled by a 60-gallon tank. With numerous standard and optional features, this New Hampshire girl continues to be a winner.

Skeeter SX2350

new yachts 2024

This bass boat builder from Kilgore, TX recently introduced a new addition to their Bay Boat series, the SX 2350, which now includes a six-pack of models from 21 to 25 feet. Storage abounds on the Skeeter SX2350, with a door on the port side of the console opening to reveal access to your system wiring, battery access and plenty of dry storage for tackle boxes and safety gear. The wide 8-foot, 5-inch beam complements her 22-foot, 9-inch overall length. The raised forward casting deck offers a wide, flat elevated perch to sight cast to your favorite gamefish. A quartet of flush hatches down below reveal a rod locker to port, and insulated fishbox to starboard, a dry storage locker on the centerline and a vertical anchor locker forward. There’s yet another storage area under the cockpit sole forward of the front console seat, which includes a 14-gallon livewell down under. The leaning post offers additional stowage under its flip up cushion seat for handy access to your fishing tackle and other requisite accessories. The leaning post also includes a six-rod rocket launcher.

The aft casting deck features twin 20-gallon livewells under each corner hatch, in addition to a flip-up twin bench seat for added crew comfort when underway that includes an ingenious tie-down lid to keep it locked in place when underway. The bench section flips up to enable access to all pumps, plumbing and wiring in the bilge area, which includes a beefy aluminum transom brace interconnecting the transom to the stringer grid to distribute engine torque.  A quartet of power options from Yamaha includes the F200, F200 V6 SHO, F250 and F250 SHO. Whatever your choice, the 55-gallon fuel tank should give you sunup to sundown performance. Notable standards include a 12-inch manual jackplate; a pair of flush-mount rodholders in the covering boards; Seastar tilt hydraulic steering; and a retractable boarding ladder.

Celebrating 50 years as one of the top bluewater fishing boat brands, Blackfin recently introduced their newest addition to the lineup — the highly anticipated 400CC. Making its debut at the 2023 Miami International Boat Show, this new center console is the de facto flagship for Blackfin Boats. With a 40-foot length supported by a 12-foot beam, the 400CC provides a tremendous amount of space onboard and can handle just about any reasonable water conditions with her twin-stepped deep-vee running bottom. With a max rating of 1,600 horsepower, you can strap a quad of 400-horsepower outboards on the transom and travel in the special type of fast lane that few boats can keep pace, with standard 475-gallon fuel capacity to get you to the edge and back pronto.

Some unique standards include Dual Row Helm Seating (two rows of three for a total of six) with heated seats and an electric power adjustment on the captain’s chair; removable transom seating with three additional rod holders; a forward facing console lounge with intergraded armrests and cup holders; a huge cockpit with standard 80-gallon livewell in the transom, bait rigging station and tackle storage; twin Yeti slide out coolers; a fully-appointed cabin with A/C, standup head, refrigerator, forward vee-berth freshwater sink, smart TV and more; plus over 30 standard rod holders. This girl can fish hard, play hard and look good when doing either task with elegant appointments that will “wow” your guests and crew. Outfitted with quad Merc V-10 Verados, she’ll hit a top speed of over 67 mph, cruising at 36 mph/4000 rpm drinking 52 gallons per hour (gph).

Sea Pro Boats introduced their new 292DLX Offshore at the 2023 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show and I was able to jump aboard to get a better feel for this South Carolina built bluewater sportfisher. This purpose-built offshore machine gives anglers the confidence to pursue gamefish from near offshore waters and out to the edge of the continental shelf. With its sharp bow entry, classic Carolina flare and 22.5-degree transom deadrise, the 292DLX chops through the rough stuff and delivers a dry, solid ride in all types of conditions. Combined with its broad 9-foot, 10-inch beam and spacious cockpit design, this boat feels and fishes much bigger than its 28.5-foot overall length, yet it is still easy to operate with a small crew.

The 292DLX’s long list of standard fishing features includes large side entry door; port and starboard in-floor fish boxes with macerator pumps; twin pressurized 25-gallon livewells; underwater lights; a fiberglass hardtop with integrated windshield; two heavy-duty electric reel ports; built-in tackle storage; a bait rigging station, plus a generous amount of rod storage.  You’ll also find a fiberglass leaning post with premium captain’s chairs, a deluxe folding rear bench seat and forward seating with backrests. Additional features include a console dry box with two USB ports; rainfall freshwater shower; macerator toilet with pump out and overboard discharge; a standup head with freshwater sink; raw and freshwater washdown; and fully adjustable RGBW cockpit lighting. The new 292DLX is also packed with advanced fishing and boating technology, including automatic trim for pitch and roll, a 16-inch touchscreen Simrad MFD, Audison Marine Audio sound system, digital switching, smart battery management and Sea Pro Connect by Boatfix vessel monitoring and security.

Warbird Marine Holdings, who also owns Invincible, purchased Yellowfin Yachts in 2021, making this association a formidable one-two punch in the world of offshore sportfishing. For years, the 36 Offshore has reigned as the company’s most popular model and it’s easy to see why. The 36 is at the head of the competitive pack when it comes to running offshore in a chop, due to its twin-step hull design and its near perfect blend of balance, efficiency and one of the driest rides on the water. I have been at the helm quite a few times on the 36 Yellowfin CC and have nothing but raves for the speed, ride and roomy cockpit fore and aft on this midsized sportfisher. The 36 runs great with twin or triple outboards and can be highly customized to create the perfect boat for everything from hardcore offshore tournament fishing to weekend family sandbar outings and everything in between. That’s why so many savvy boaters consider the 36 Offshore the perfect solution to their boating, fishing and family waterside entertainment needs as it does everything well!

For 2024, the proven 36 Offshore CC has been upgraded with a new console, cockpit liner and transom arrangement. Standard features include a canvas T-top with five rod holders on the frame and two kingfish rod holders outboard; AmeraTrail aluminum trailer with electric-over-hydraulic braking; hydraulic steering; C-Zone digital switching; spreader lights; leaning post; saltwater washdown; insulated fish box with Gulper pump out; 14 Gemlux titanium rod holders; titanium cleats and through-hulls; plumbed transom livewell with second plumbed livewell in the leaning post; Gemlux Belloca S/S steering wheel and Livorsi trim tabs. Her standard 477-gallon fuel tank will take you and the crew to the edge and back with plenty to spare.

As the smallest “entry level” member of the Vantage dual console series that also includes 240, 280 and 320 models, the 210 Vantage will get prospective customers into the dealerships with a relatively affordable and easily trailerable package that will allow folks to grow within the family as their needs might change in the coming years.  According to Dennis Tilden, Boston Whaler’s Senior Director of Sales & Customer Service, “The 210 Vantage embodies the core values that define Boston Whaler’s legacy – quality, innovation, unsinkability, reliability and simplicity – and was designed to cater to young families and empty nesters with its manageable size, thoughtful design, weather protection and spacious seating.”

The 210 Vantage is a boat designed to meet the needs of the widest possible range of boaters, from fun-on-the-water families to hardcore anglers. A dual console cockpit with wraparound windshield provides functional comfort for passengers. Comfortable seating in the bow, cockpit and stern allows for family-sized crews to relax all day. And roomy storage throughout the boat means you can load in all the gear you need for any type of adventure on the water. At just 21 feet, it’s easily trailerable, but an optional 250 Merc V8 on the transom means you can get up and go when you’re ready to ride. Notable 210 Vantage features include a wrap-around glass windshield to provide maximum protection from the elements; flip up backrests for stern seating and additional cockpit space; stern platform for sight casting when the twin transom corner seat backrests are folded down; a convenient portable head in the portside storage compartment; spacious cushioned bow seating with roomy storage down under; an anchor locker for a convenient access to the hook and rode; plus twin pedestal helm seats with an optional port lounger.

The good news coming out of the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show is the highly anticipated return of the 26FS center console, now packed with an array of standard features designed to exceed your expectations. The FS in the name stands for “forward seating” which adds a long bench seat to either side of the bow area of this 26-footer with 65-gallon dry storage areas down under. When you add cushions and a padded backrest, this transforms the bow of this serious sportfisher into a more family friendly platform for a relaxing day in the sun.

When it’ comes time to fish the 26FS shows her Jupiter DNA, with an overall length of 26 feet, 5 inches, complemented by an 8-foot, 8-inch beam. The 26FS sports a no-nonsense deep-vee running bottom with a wave-piercing 60-degree entry angle that tapers back to 23 degrees of deadrise aft. Her 150-gallon fuel tank will offer 100-fathom range for Northeast blue water aficionados and she’ll burn about 15 to 16 gallons an hour with her twin Yamaha F200 I4 four-strokes. This Florida girl tips the scales at 5,460 pounds with power, so that translates to about 4,400 pounds of boat and 1,060 pounds of engines and rigging. She features a freshwater washdown system that is fed by a 20-gallon tank. Notable standard features include coaming bolsters; fresh and raw water washdown; a 102-gallon aft in-floor cockpit fishbox with macerator pumpout; 35-gallon recirculating livewell in the transom; bait prep center with drink holders and tackle cabinet; a six-pack of gunwale rod holders; and a walk-through transom door. jupitermarine.com

I first set eyes on Regulator’s latest debutant, the 30XO, while at the 2023 Miami Boat Show last February and was introduced to her by Regulator’s President Joan Maxwell. What struck me initially was her size — she is a huge bay boat powered by twin Yamaha F300s that will turn and burn faster than just about any other competitor in skinny water. Yet on the right day, this hybrid can still fish near offshore coastal waters, courtesy of her Regulator DNA.   The 30 is Regulator’s biggest XO to date, becoming the flagship model of the hybrid series that also includes the smaller 26XO introduced a few seasons back. The 30XO is equipped with every bit of inshore/offshore attitude you’ve come to expect from the XO Series, along with big boat features to meet your every fishing and comfort need. Twin Yamaha F300s, optional Half Tower Station and convertible Tackle and Entertainment Center lead the suite of amenities on this powerhouse crossover.

Anglers will love the 1,363 quarts of fishbox, livewell & storage space, 10 rocket launchers on the helm station and optional under gunwale locking rod storage. When you are ready to kick back, plush seating abounds, with the option to upgrade to diamond-quilted upholstery and add teak accents for a rich, classic look. The standard forward console settee delivers 218 quarts of cooler space, while the flush-folding rear cockpit seats house integrated dual bucket holders with custom buckets port and starboard, along with oversized bilge and mechanical access center. Add a versatile 96-inch trolling motor with GPS Autopilot and dual 10-foot Power Pole Blades for shallow water anchoring and get ready to go with the flow.

For 2024, there are no new boats on the agenda for this North Carolina boat builder. Last season’s Spencer Edition 53 Convertible has gone into production and boats are being delivered. On the outboard fishing boat side of the equation, the 25 outboard Cuddy has been taken out of the line-up. Albemarle will still produce their 30-foot Express outboard, along with the 27 and 31 dual consoles.

The 30 Express offers the ultimate in hardcore fishing amenities in a compact express package. Serious anglers will appreciate its offshore ability, exceptional handling in rough seas and fuel economy. Featuring a modern helm area with forward facing seating for three, mezzanine style seating aft, large in-deck macerated fishboxes, transom livewell, tackle center and a standard transom door, this express delivers blue water capability in a big way. With a full galley, a stand-up head, in addition to an A-bunk down below, the 30 will also overnight quite comfortably. Keith Privott, Albemarle’s Director of Sales and Product Development, describes the 30 Express as having a custom Carolina look with unsurpassed visibility from the helm and a standard rigid acrylic enclosure, along with standard anchor windlass system with through-stem roller and polished stainless steel anchor. Every boat will be Seakeeper 2 ready, with the requisite stringer beds in place. A triple 300-horsepower Yamaha option provides the low-end torque needed to maintain slower cruise speeds on those sloppy days making her the fastest Albemarle ever built.   With a dry weight of 13,000 pounds, 24-degree aft deadrise and a 320-gallon fuel capacity, she has both the range and toughness to get you to the edge and back. albemarleboats.com

Southport is introducing their new flagship model 38 FE for the 2024 season and from what I’ve seen of the initial drawings and specs, she’s a real beauty. Her overall length is listed as 37 feet, 6 inches, with an overwide 13-foot beam. Her hull features a sharp deep-vee angle in the bow that tapers back to 20 degrees of deadrise at the transom. Her dry weight outfitted with a pair of Yamaha F450 XTO V-8 outboards is 18,000 pounds, with a draft of 25 inches (engine drives up). The Southport 38 FE’s fuel capacity should give you true 100-fathom range, but that will really depend on how you power her in conjunction with your throttle hand. Optional power on this Maine-built sportfisher covers the gamut from triple Yamaha F450s, a trio of Mercury 400-horsepower V-10 Verados, or a pair of Merc’s breakthrough 600-horsepower Verado V-12 outboards. The max rating of 1,350 horsepower is achieved by the triple Yamaha F450 XTO set-up, but factory tests have yet to be produced to detail the top speed, optimal fuel economy and range for each power option.

Notable standards include Helm Master EX with joystick controller and integrated auto pilot with the standard twin F450 XTO power setup; Zip Wake 600 automatic trim system; a 12v LiFePO4 house battery bank with 900 Ah capacity with battery monitor system and 3000 watt inverter; 10-gallon hot water heater; triple forward facing mezzanine seating with adjustable helm chairs, port and starboard aft facing helm style chairs and twin double wide foldable aft bench seating for a total of nine crew; twin 22-inch Garmin MFDs, tilt-element through-hull transducer and Garmin GSD 25 sounder module; Garmin Vesper VHF/AIS with a pair of 8-foot antennas on S/S ratchet mounts; a comfy cabin under the center console that includes a 6-foot double berth, refrigerator, enclosed head area, freshwater sink, counter top and microwave; and much more.

Built for a purpose when pushing the limits offshore, Wellcraft had dedicated its focus to enhance the comfort and convenience of its center consoles. The brand-new 2024 Fisherman models, the 243 and 263, were unveiled at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. Also included in the new Fisherman series line-up is the 223, which was not present at this year’s show.  Wellcraft has redesigned the Fisherman series to include a fully bonded glass windshield with a power operated vent which provides enhanced visibility and protection while facing the elements of the offshore waters. The support legs of the fiberglass T-Top are recessed into the center console creating more space for maneuvering around the boat and the cabin is now accessible with a lateral opening door. The helm station has been reworked to incorporate additional screen space and advanced technology. The hardtop features an integrated accessories box in which boaters will find easy access to electronic devices. The rest of the console is designed to provide unobstructed views of your desired destination.

Maintenance and equipment management has never been more straightforward as all 2024 Wellcraft models will come with a 1-year pre-paid subscription to SeaNapps allowing you to track engine hours and maintenance needs right from your phone. Dual upholstered helm seats with adjustable bolsters now feature a dedicated “Cooler Cave” where you can conveniently store a cooler with an additional storage area perfect for keeping tools and tackle within easy reach. Forward-facing backrests are now included as part of the bow seating package enhancing comfort for passengers and the transom seat has been reworked for easier access to the bilge.

This South Carolina based boat builder started back in 1995 and has evolved to become the largest center console boat builders in the U.S. market judged by annual sales. Every season I see more and more Sea Hunt center consoles working the near offshore and blue water fishing grounds, so it’s obvious that there are many anglers getting into coastal fishing that are being brought there on Sea Hunt boats. I spoke with Sea Hunt Sales Manager Robbie Coates at the Fort Lauderdale Show and he mentioned that there is a new Gamefish slated for introduction at this February’s Miami Boat Show. The Gamefish lineup current consists of a 30-footer (with either forward seating or a large coffin box), twin 27-foot platforms (forward seating or coffin box arrangement) and a 25-footer. All five of these models offer deep-vee running bottoms that carry 21 degrees of deadrise angle aft to the transom. The new Gamefish to be introduced in Miami will be a 28-foot hull that will feature twin in-floor insulated fishboxes, a Lazarette hatch in the aft cockpit to access critical pumps and wiring in the bilge area, plus a host of next-gen gear that will set the new standard for this series.

Other tweaks to the Sea Hunt lineup for 2024 include a new electrically activated bow table for the 265, 275 and 305 Ultra series of family center consoles, with some boats now getting dual dive doors for easier access either at the beach or dockside, the option for all-white factory painted motors from Yamaha for a more seamless style match for some boats, along with integrated Yamaha electric steering for select models.

There have been a few transitions happening with Mako boats over the past 18 months. Mako is part of the White River Marine Group owned by Bass Pro Shops’ Johnny Morris. Other notable brands that fall into this group are SeaCraft, Ranger, Triton, Hatteras, Tracker, Kenner, Astro and ProCraft. There is a new saltwater boat production facility that will be located on the grounds of the old Hatteras Yacht manufacturing plant in New Bern, NC. The former Mako (and some of the other brands) production plant located in Oklahoma is being dismantled and migrating east to coastal Carolina and as such, Mako has ceased to produce their 41 and 33-foot offshore models, in addition to taking the 236 CC out of production for the time being. As of the 2024 model year, Mako will be producing the 214 CC, along with the 13, 15, 17 and 19 Pro Skiffs, along with the 18 LTS.

The 13 Pro Skiff is the latest Mako and sports a new center console for the 2024 model year. The newest addition to the Mako fleet boasts all the heritage, quality, and trusted performance of its larger siblings in a super shallow-drafting, easy-to-maneuver package. It features all the Mako Pro Skiff DNA in their smallest package ever with a wide footprint that delivers a trio of advantages: a super stable casting platform, only 8 inches of draft and maximized interior storage. Its reduced hull profile slides easily onto sandbars and into marine slips and is the perfect starter boat for those just venturing out into saltwater. Topping this package off is reliable and economical Mercury FourStroke power that’s ready to take you across the skinniest flats. Some interesting standard features include a raised bow deck that provides huge in-deck storage and an elevated casting platform; five vertical rod storage racks on either side of the console; plus a wide, stable hull design for maximum stability and fishability.

This South Carolina boat builder has introduced a pair of new debutants for the 2024 model year, the 252 Open and the 232 Open center consoles. For this summary, we’ll focus on the more trailerable 232 Open.  Designed to be the ultimate family fishing boat in the 23-foot class, the Open 232 offers a level of fit, finish and features typically not seen in this category of boat. The fishing amenities check every box for a day offshore fishing including ample rod storage, Gemlux rod holders, a large insulated aquarium livewell and more. When it’s time for the family to jump on-board you’re greeted with safe comfortable seating, insulated coolers and storage to multiple anchors to make sandbar trips a breeze. All of these features are wrapped up in an easy-to-trailer 23-foot center console that will bring years of memorable trips for you and the family.

What’s interesting about the new 232 Open plus all other Sportsman models 26 feet and under is that they all come standard with Seakeeper Ride tabs, a proprietary, first-of-its kind, Vessel Attitude Control System (VACS). The key benefits are that Ride tabs eliminate up to 70% of pitch and roll motions when underway; automatically adjusts the heeling angle of your boat during turns; uses a customized Trim Command Curve to automatically adjust the running angle at any speed; prevents vessel list from movement onboard, wind, uneven load, prop torque, and the like.  Plus it’s optimized to allow for faster acceleration, getting the boat on plane more quickly, improving fuel economy. That’s some impressive built-in next-gen technology that you wouldn’t expect to find as a standard feature on a boat size with such a reasonable price tag. The Sportsman 232 Open also includes a console wrapped with a glass enclosure on three sides for weather protection. Made out of high-quality tempered glass, the integrated windshield protects the helm of excessive wind and rain while maintaining excellent air flow, while the top section opens up manually to let in cool air.

New for 2024 is the Parker 2420 Sport Cabin. Especially popular with Northeast anglers, the Parker Sport Cabin provides shelter from wind, rain, sun and changing seasons. Step inside the cabin, open the windows and cool off or close them and warm up. And when you are in-between fishing frenzies, open the overhead cabin hatch and take a nap on the forward berth. Built on the proven 21-degree aft deadrise deep-vee Parker hull, the 2420 Sport Cabin provides a soft, dry ride and its large versatile cockpit the Parker Sport Cabin sets the standard for boats in this size range. The cockpit can be set up as a hardcore offshore fishing boat or a family cruising boat with the optional cockpit lounge seat and sunshade. The 2420 SC measures 24 feet, 2 inches in length with an 8-foot, 8-inch beam. She is rated to carry 10 passengers and can carry up to 400 horsepower on the transom in either single or twin configurations, supported by a 140-gallon fuel tank. Engine options include a single Yamaha F300 V6, twin I4 F150s or dual I4 F200s.

The cabin area includes a 57-inch by 84-inch vee-berth with 40 inches of sitting headroom with storage down below and cushions above, an overhead ventilation hatch with screen, porta-pottie with dockside pump-out and an anchor locker door. Stepping up to the pilothouse, this area offers glass windshields (starboard is hinged for ventilation), sliding side windows with screens, ladder back seating with footrests, interior storage and grab rails, non-skid pilothouse floor and cabin lighting. Four gunwale-mount S/S rod holders are standard, as is raw water washdown, a pair of insulated in-floor cockpit fishboxes with macerator, plus another fishbox situated in the transom cap.

One of the most intriguing boats that I was able to jump aboard at the recent Fort Lauderdale Boat Show was Tidewater’s new model for 2024, the 3100 Carolina Bay.  According to the Tidewater reps that I spoke with at the show, in their view the new 3100 Carolina Bay has changed the bay boat market forever. After taking a closer look at this platform at the show, her room onboard and comprehensive standard features list, I’d tend to agree. Her length overall of 31 feet, 1 inch, an overwide beam of 10 feet, 2 inches and race boat speeds over 70 mph outfitted with twin Merc V-10 Verados set this model apart from anything in the industry to date. Her twin stepped hull provides users with not only speed but also efficiency. The optional Mezzanine seat leaning post is a great choice for families and friends who won’t be doing as much fishing.

She tips the scales at a whopping 7,200 pounds dry, yet she runs like the wind with her modest 17-degree aft deadrise running bottom. With a fuel capacity of 220 gallons, she’ll take you a long way in the bay between fill-ups. A fiberglass T-Top with full glass enclosure and aft support is standard issue, as is a 30-gallon fiberglass aquarium livewell in the leaning post that also includes a tackle center and cutting board countertop. Other notable standard features on the 3100 Carolina Bay include Mercury electronic steering with joystick controller; a 20-gallon livewell in the bow; a Bobs Machine 10-inch dual jack plate; freshwater shower with 19-gallon tank; raw water washdown; Zipwake 450-S Interceptors on the transom; digital switching and more.

Although there are no new boats for 2024 for this south Florida boat builder, Invincible introduced the 43 Open Fisherman last season. Replacing both the outgoing 42 Open Fisherman and Center Cabin models, the 43 Open utilizes the same proven Michael Peters Yacht Design SVVT hull with an evolved interior. “We designed the 43 with the tournament and master anglers in mind,” said John Dorton, Invincible CEO, while adding “Technology has advanced so much from even a few years ago and we’re always striving to be at the forefront of what benefits the sport fishing community, both on their way to the bite and when they have their lines in the water.”

Designed by SVP of Engineering Scott Wood, the new 43 Open is equipped with everything important in a large fishing center console. The cabin has a full sleeping berth, a vanity sink and head compartment for those overnight tournaments. The innovation comes in how the space has been reimagined and some of these new design features include: the all-new extended console, helm and cabin are moved forward to accommodate dual row seating without affecting fishability from the cockpit; the standard extended console lounger houses the largest fish box on-board; a new hardtop option has been added to accommodate additional electronics for the cockpit/helm areas and a rear-entry second station; a second live well with aquarium windows has been added to the transom to complement the optional in-floor well. “This boat really showcases a lot of features that you have seen in some model enhancements over the past few years but there are also items that we’re showing for the first time,” added Wood.

I talked with the NauticStar factory folks in Fort Lauderdale where they mentioned hw they have introduced two newbies for the 2024 season. One of these is the 332 Offshore, which is slated to be the flagship of that line-up. The other debutant is the all-new 274 Bay, which is designed for serious fishermen who want to explore large open shallow bays, back waters, inlets and estuaries during the course of their inshore fishing pursuits. The 100% composite 26-foot, 2-inch hull is designed around a modified-vee running bottom with a 40-degree entry angle that tapers back to 16 degrees of deadrise at the transom. This shape offers excellent stability at rest, with only 16 inches of draft and provides a solid ride when underway.

The wide open fishing deck is courtesy of her 9-foot beam and commands ample space for casting and reeling in your catch. Simrad technology provides an intuitive interface for navigation and fish-finding. The 274 Bay is equipped with a 42-gallon aft livewell, 43-gallon insulated fishbox set under the bow casting platform, plus a second smaller 13-gallon in-console livewell. Her dry weight without power or T-Top is a respectable 4,200 pounds and her max horsepower rating is 450 horsepower. Her 79-gallon tank will provide for a sunup to sundown experience for your bay and inshore fishing adventures. Hardware package includes stainless steel through-hull fittings, rub rail inserts and latches, a quartet of S/S gunwale mount rod holders, a total of eight S/S drink holders, plus a six-pack of S/S pull-up cleats. nauticstarboats.com

There are a number of new things happening for this South Carolina boat builder for the 2024 model year. The 248SC side console is new and is a unique interpretation of a center console/dual console family entertainment hybrid of sorts. Both the 231 and 251 Bay Fox models have been upgraded using the same hull as their predecessors, but with new deck layouts and a wider choice of hull color options. The 288 Traveler DC is a brand new offering from Sea Fox and with is size takes dual console capabilities to the next level. It is now the largest and the flagship in a growing fleet of dual consoles that also include the 228 and 268 Traveler models.

The 288 Traveler is equipped with a 28-foot long hull that is supported by a 9-foot, 8-inch beam and features a vee-bottom that tapers back to 18 degrees of deadrise aft. She’s rated for a max of 600 horsepower on the transom (twin 300s), is Yacht-certified and is equipped with a 147-gallon fuel tank that will take you on bunch of inshore family adventures before you need to refuel. One of the neat features that I like about the 288 Traveler is her anchoring arrangement in the bow. She is designed with a stainless steel bow eye/anchor chute setup; windlass anchoring system with controls at both the helm and the bow; a bow compartment with anchor roller chute, chafe plate, safety strap, rope storage and access; plus a freshwater washdown outlet at bow to clean up the mess when anchoring in a muddy bottom. When it’s time to entertain family and friends, the JL Audio custom sound system is equipped with twin amplifiers, two 10-inch subwoofers, a total of six 7-inch speakers featuring sport grill and digital lighting, totaling 1,200 watts of rocking sound.

One of the most impressive Robalos in the fleet is their R317 dual console. With a length overall of 31 feet and a generous 10-foot, 6-inch beam, there’s a lot of entertainment space on this family based multi-mission platform and the Robalo engineers have put it all to good use. While many boats of this size class in the dual console genre try to outdo each other with electric seats and other bells and whistles with a limited shelf life in saltwater, the Robalo designers kept this ergonomic layout fairly simple, and extremely flexible. For starters, the aft transom area is equipped with what Robalo calls its Vista-View lounge seat with dual reclining backrests that convert into a sun lounger, back-to-back seat for eight adults, or either forward or aft facing inclined sun loungers. The bonus is that there’s a molded cooler/fish box underneath with an overboard drain and a 25-gallon livewell tucked in the port aft corner.

Outfitted with her standard twin Yamaha F300 V6 outboards, the R317 tips the scales at 9,100 pounds dry. Her generous 260-gallon fuel capacity will translate to a month of weekend trips to your favorite sandbar, beach or watering hole, plus it will allow you to explore near offshore waters if fishing is on the menu. The 21-degree aft deadrise deep-vee running bottom will get you back to home port with confidence if the seas kick up a bit. The R317 has a 25-gallon freshwater tank, plus an 8-gallon holding tank for the standard porcelain marine toilet. The bow area is unique in that it offers a bench seat to port, with a single forward-facing seat to starboard. This complements the interior layout perfectly, with a head area under the starboard console and a single bunk under the port console that extends under the bow’s bench seat. It also makes for a roomier area to sight cast for the catch of the day.

I spoke with the EdgeWater factory reps at the Fort Lauderdale Show and they confirmed that there are no new models for 2024. The 340CC has been upgraded with a few features requested by dealers and consumers that include an optional second steering station on the hardtop and standard items like Seakeeper Ride tabs, a Seakeeper 2 gyro stabilizer and Yamaha Helm Master joystick controller with auto pilot. One of the latest newbies to hit the marina last season was my favorite EdgeWater boat, the former 280CC that was revamped to the next-gen 285CC.

The 285CC is the fullback of the EdgeWater fleet with a deep-vee running bottom that warps back to 20 degrees of deadrise at the transom. She measures 28 feet overall with a generous 9-1/2-foot beam. I have taken this boat out in the usual sea conditions and she is rock-steady and handles it like a true champ. This large center console boat, coupled with Single Piece Infusion (vacuum bagging), leads to a strong, superior performing fishing platform in a variety of friendly and often unfriendly sea conditions. Her twin F300 Yamaha V-6s will hit a top speed in excess of 53 mph, but what I like about her most was the ability to super-cruise at 3,500 to 4,000 rpm at relatively fuel efficient numbers between 30 to 36 mph, netting 1.5 to 1.65 mpg. Another neat feature is her under-console area with porcelain marine head, freshwater sink with pull-out shower nozzle, plus a convenient double berth that tucks under the forward cockpit sole for a fantastic place to change out of wet clothes or to take a cat nap in between feeding frenzies. She offers a dozen flush mount gunwale, vertical and transom mount rod holders, another six-pack in the T-Top framework, a 28-gallon recirculating livewell in the port transom corner, twin 100-gallon insulated fishboxes with macerator pump-out in the cockpit sole, a 30-gallon freshwater system and a generous 200-gallon fuel tank.

Century Boats

new yachts 2024

As mentioned in last year’s Boat Buyer’s Guide as a “coming soon” model, the Century 4100CC has arrived. The Century 4100 CC’s hybrid hull design is an engineered balance between a traditional “Vee” hull and a stepped hull design. Century blends the best of both worlds with a unique strake geometry, a dynamic keel pad and a multifaceted transom. This hull has been designed to minimize bow rise while reducing drag and increasing lift. To make this engineering feat possible, high performance materials are used throughout the manufacturing process. An exclusive carbon fiber/Kevlar hybrid fabric was developed for the hull of to provide extra stiffness while reducing overall weight. All composites are vacuum infused to achieve optimum glass/resin ratio.

Twin transom doors open to an oversized swim platform providing complete 360 degrees of fishability. Engine rigging is hidden below the platform for safe, unobstructed maneuverability. A semi-enclosed console area provides climate controlled isolation from the elements while still being open to the rest of the deck space onboard. You can actually seat a total of 13 to 14 adults on this boat when underway. Convenient zip-up canvas converts the console space into a fully enclosed, weather-protected pilot house. Twin berths below deck comfortably sleep three to four, while a second row lounger in the console area converts to sleep a fifth crew member above deck in the air conditioned space. A pair of 50-gallon (forward) and 100-gallon (aft) in-floor insulated fishboxes will chill the catch of the day, plus there’s a 70-gallon pressurized livewell in the transom cap. The 4100CC measures 41 feet LOA, supported by a 12-foot, 4-inch beam and deep-vee running bottom that tapers back to 23.5 degrees at the transom. The 535-gallon fuel tank should provide adequate offshore range, depending on how you power her and how you ride the throttles when underway.

Maritime Boats are based in New Hampshire and are built by Chislett’s Boating and Design. Their coastal fishing boat lineup includes five different styles of layouts from 14 to 25 feet. Maritime’s 14, 18 and 20-foot rolled edge Skiffs are simple, basic, uncomplicated boats with maximum interior space, self-bailing cockpits and hulls that are fuel efficient and easily propelled with low to moderate horsepower. They are built strong and “unsinkable”, are dry-running with a seaworthy ride. The distinctive feature of the Defiant center console series is the wraparound non-skid deck that facilitates easy boarding, installation of flush mount rod holders, pop-up cleats and self-bailing cockpits. Models 21 feet and larger have a large step down area under the console that provides room for storage and an optional porta-pottie or marine head. The Patriot and Voyager Center Cabin models combine all the benefits of a center console with the convenience of a full cabin. You can walk and fish around the side decks of the cabin without tripping over elevated steps.

Additional weather protection is provided by each of these models giving you the opportunity to cruise, play, or fish longer in comfort and security. The 23 and 25 Challenger cabin models feature a composite laminated glass windshield for strength and good looks. These boats have large versatile cockpits ideal for cruising and comfortably accommodating friends and family. Both Challenger models feature excellent visibility from the well-designed pilot house, a large comfortable V-berth that easily accommodates two adults and has a variety of seating, galley and cockpit configurations to meet your needs.

Everglades introduced the new and exciting 315cc for 2024, offering power and style in a very classy fish boat. Measuring 31 feet, 6 inches in length with a 10-foot, 4-inch beam, she tips the scales at a beefy 11,510 pounds dry, counting her twin outboards. Powered by twin Mercury 400 Verado V-10s, factory tests indicate that she’ll hit a top speed of over 56 mph at wide open throttle. But what I really like is her projected fuel economy and range. Running between 3,500, 4,000 and 4,500 rpm, she’ll hit a perfectly linear 27-33-39 mph respectively at these throttle settings, all while getting between 1.3 to 1.37 mpg. With 300-gallon fuel capacity, the 315cc will provide between 364 to 391 statute miles of range, using 95% of her stated tankage. When it’s time to fish, she’s all business with a single level cockpit with unobstructed 360-degree gunnel access; dual 25-gallon transom mounted circulating live wells with LED light, clear acrylic lid, stainless steel friction hinges and latch; a forward 80-gallon insulated in-deck fish box with macerator pump and overboard discharge; dual 40-gallon insulated in-deck fish boxes with macerator pump and overboard discharges; a dozen stainless steel rod holders that are bedded and through bolted for rod security; a quartet of stainless steel combination rod/cupholders also bedded and through bolted; under gunwale rod racks (two per side) with toe rails and a pair of under gunwale power ports.

Notable construction features include a lifetime hull warranty and three-year component warranty; a variable deadrise deep-vee hull that tapers back to an angular 25 degrees of deadrise at the transom; patented closed molded RAMCAP construction process with high density, closed cell, structural foam flotation; no wood composite construction using premium gel coat, a vinyl-ester barrier and knitted bi-axial fiberglass reinforcements with a high density composite transom; and the hull liner and deck are mated perfectly for a rigid one-piece construction.

For 2024, Key West offers 14 outboard-powered family fishing boats ranging in size from 17 to 26 feet that feature center console, dual console, bay boat or family-oriented center console layouts. The largest in the Key West fleet is the 263FS, which is a family-friendly center console that is equally adept at bending rods or taking a crew out for the day of beaching it and the associated watersports activities. With emphasis on comfort, fishing and safety, the 263 FS (Family Sportsman) features added seating and storage, with a changing area and porta-pottie under the larger console. It doesn’t shortchange you on the fishing side of the equation, with a total of 22 rod holders, dual livewells and horizontal storage racks under the gunnels to hold up to 8-foot long saltwater rods. A macerated fish box is set under the cockpit sole in the bow to ice down the day’s catch.

Some of the notable standard features on the Key West 263 FS include a thru-hull windlass, hardtop, side entry door with hidden ladder, twin bilge pumps, high-pressure washdown, spacious forward seating with built-in backrests, cockpit bolsters, an eight speaker stereo system and Sea Star hydraulic tilt steering with power assist, plus 12-inch trim tabs with indicators. According to factory tests, she’ll hit a top speed of 52.5 mph at 6,100 rpm with twin Yamaha I4 F200s on the transom, getting 34 mph/13.7 gph at 4,000 rpm netting 2.48 mpg.

New for the 2024 model year is the 240CC GFX catamaran from Twin Vee. At first glance, the 240 looks like a leisure cruiser ready for the family. The bow has ample wraparound seating, complimented by the double-wide cooler seat forward of the console. Armrest cushions double as headrests for dual lounge chair sunbathing. A triple-wide bench at the stern is a great spot to catch some rays and a breeze when underway. The motor configuration allows for a swim deck that makes getting in and out of the water a breeze and the transom walkthrough insures smooth passage when reboarding. For family members or crew that need a private place when nature calls, there’s a spacious private head inside the console.

When it’s time to go fishing, the 240 is up to the task. The rear bench drops to give you a full wall of cushion to lean on, with a massive livewell, cooler and rocket launcher within reach. The bow cushions store out of the way in the console to reveal a spacious casting deck with insulated under-seat storage, a second baitwell and gunnel-mounted rod holders. Another cooler is close at hand under the console bench seat. Two more live wells are neatly recessed on the floor on either side of the center console. Port and starboard rod lockers are recessed in the walls. Additional gunnel mounts and the console rocket launcher bring the total rod capacity to 18. Tackle storage abounds and the Twin Vee design team has put every square inch of space to good use. Standard fuel capacity is provided by twin 45-gallon Florida Marine Tanks situated in the port and starboard sponsons. There are 10 standard rod holders with three flush-mounted in each gunwale and a four-rod rocket launcher in the T-Top.

Sea Born boats is a division of Composite Research Inc. in Blackshear, GA. Introduced a few seasons back, the LX26 Center Console is the largest of four vessels in the company’s LX series. According to Sea Born engineers, every boat in the LX lineup successfully merges family-centric features with let’s-go-fishing readiness. Standard features on the LX26 include an easy-boarding port-side dive door, multiple charging ports, in-console head, LED lighting throughout, along with convenient passenger grab rails for improved safety.  From the helm, the pilot and co-pilot will appreciate the two-position leaning post when standing, but as the need arises, the unit easily converts to a captain’s style chair with backrest. On the console, there’s an endless array of information via two glass-mounted, multi-function displays.

Other notable standards include on-console toggle switches, a phone-saving dash pad and a large shade-providing hardtop with overhead storage. When it’s time to bend the rods, the LX26 provides additional cockpit depth compared to Sea Born’s bay boats , giving it big-boat energy and allowing owners to run near shore or offshore in bumpy seas in complete comfort and safety. At the bow, there’s an anchor pulpit and chain, ideal for keeping the boat steady over a wreck or reef. As with any fishing boat, storage is at a premium and the LX26 delivers with ample gear and tackle bins, under-and-in-gunwale rod holders and a rounded port-side aerated baitwell.

BERTRAM YACHTS

new yachts 2024

Iconic American boat builder Bertram Yachts recently introduced a trio of outboard powered fishing boats, specifically the 28CC, 28XC (crossover dual console) and the go-fast 39CC. Bertram has also signed an exclusive outboard engine supply agreement with Mercury Marine to power its new outboard fleet.  The 28CC is one good-looking machine with an Italian flair due to its parental ownership by the Gavio Group who took the helm in 2015. Combing the exhilaration of the ride with the comfort and reliability of a Bertram, the 28CC is ready, no matter where the day takes you. Featuring all the essentials a fisherman needs and room to entertain friends and family, this boat is as comfortable chasing the sunset as it is chasing that trophy fish. The comfort and fishing features abound on this stylish sportfisher and include 35-gallon baitwell with 1,100-gph pump, advanced circulation setup, LED lights, and clear lid; twin 244-quart insulated in-floor fish boxes with pump out; a dozen stainless steel flush-mounted rod holders (4X transom, 4X gunnel, 4X bow); console utility center with cutting board, sink, and integrated lockable cooler storage with removable Yeti cooler; a six-pack of substantial 10-inch pull-up cleats; plus the roomy and functional fishing cockpit that’s typical of a Bertram.

The twin Merc 300 V8 Verado engines will push this Florida girl to a top speed of over 53 mph at wide open throttle spinning 17-inch pitch Revolution 4 props. She’ll turn a very comfortable cruise at 4,000 rpm, hitting 35.3 mph at 19 gph, for a net of 1.86 mpg, which is outstanding for a boat of this length, beam (9 feet, 8 inches) and displacement (9,056 pounds) that features a deep-vee running bottom with 23 degrees of deadrise at the transom. Her 200-gallon fuel tank offers 334 miles of range, so trips to the edge and back are definitely in her wheelhouse.

One of the latest Cape Horn center consoles to split the offshore seas is their all-new 39T. This is a well-designed and durable offshore machine with one singular purpose, to catch large pelagic fish. Everything on the 39T was designed to outperform. A 9-foot long, 400-gallon insulated fishbox will support you on your best days catching them up in the bluewater. The two massive, pressurized live wells provide 115 gallons of live bait capability. The oversized hardtop adds to an already sleek and modern design and protects the crew from the elements on the long trips to the 100-fathom line and back. Two large overhead electronics boxes will satisfy your need for a comprehensive multi-screen marine electronics suite, plus the helm area can mount additional big-screen MFDs. A host of lighting options, flush mounted speakers and telescoping outriggers come standard. Her 39-foot, 6-inch length coupled with a relatively slim 11-foot, 3-inch beam gives this sportfisher a knife-like profile to tame opposing head seas, with a 52-degree entry angle that tapers back to 21.5 degrees deadrise aft. Her dry weight with power is 15,500-pounds.

Factory tests powered by a pair of fire-breathing 600-horsepower two-speed Verados showed that this Florida girl can really boogie, hitting a top speed of over 69 mph. For maximum range out of her 565-gallon tank with these thirsty V-12s, you’ll probably want to dial the electric throttles down to 3,500 rpm, where she’ll head offshore at 35.1 mph while gulping 35.2-gph, for a bottom line of 1.0 mpg and an impressive range of 509 miles keeping 10% of her fuel capacity as a reserve. The 39T gives you the speed and range that few other under-40s can match.

Chris Craft is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious boat brands now approaching 150 years in the business. Their Catalina lineup of Center crossover consoles to date included 24-, 30- and 34-foot models. The Chris-Craft design team received some valuable dealer and customer feedback on this series and decided to expand it for the 2024 model year with a new model, the 28 Catalina, introduced at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. The Garmin displays a custom Chris-Craft home screen that matches the look and feel of the boat. The high gloss teak accents and steering wheel add another touch of classic styling to the helm.

She is equipped with an in-floor fishbox, a quartet of vertical flush-mount rodholders in the transom cap, tuna doors in the starboard transom corner and starboard aft cockpit, coaming bolsters, an optional livewell, plus a handful of gunwale-mount combo rodholder/cup holders if trolling is on the menu. Maserati’s Folgore Day event showcases its commitment to electrification, just not 100%

Avatar for Scooter Doll

To celebrate over 100 years in business while looking ahead to another century filled with electrification, Maserati held a “Folgore Day” event in Italy. At this event, it showcased its lineup of BEVs, including the GranTurismo Folgore and Grecale Folgore SUV, ahead of the official launch of its GranCabrio Folgore convertible this evening.

Today’s event celebrates Maserati S.p.A’s 110 year run to date, having been founded in Bologna, Italy, and now operating out of Modena under the Stellantis umbrella. Four years ago, the “Trident” brand vowed to embrace electrification with plans to offer BEV versions of each of its current vehicles by 2028.

So far, we’ve seen Maserati deliver the flagship GranTurismo Folgore, which is followed by the Grecale Folgore SUV, which we had the opportunity to test drive around Southern Italy in March. Other BEVs in the pipeline included a Folgore version of the GranCabrio convertible, which we’ve only seen camouflaged so far, as well as an all-electric Quattroporte.

However, plans for the latter have been shelved as Maserati focuses on its current and upcoming BEV models, which will now include a different Folgore by 2025 instead, the MC20. We were on the scene in Rimini, Italy, today, attending Maserati’s Folgore Day, where we got up close looks at some of the BEVs mentioned above as we await the official debut of the GranCabrio Folgore.

Maserati’s first Folgore Day celebrates past and future

In addition to celebrating 110 years in the Italian automotive space, Maserati’s Folgore event saw the debut of its new all-electric campaign, “It Turns You On.” You can see the 90-second campaign film below. The world premiere of the campaign kicks off Maserati’s next chapter in innovation and electrification. Per Maserati:

Folgore Day is the starting point of a new journey for Maserati and for luxury consumers to whom the Trident’s electric offering is entirely aimed and dedicated to, via products that guarantee the distinctive essence of the brand–made up of cars that have always been synonymous with cutting-edge technology, refined elegance, sophisticated and original craftsmanship, impeccable and distinctive performance–and can become new symbols on the move of the profound transformation underway in the market.

Today, several critical components of the Maserati Grecale Folgore and GranTurismo Folgore, including the former’s all-electric rolling chassis, were explained in detail in front of the crowd in Rimini. What was interesting was the sly maneuvering of Maserati CEO Davide Grasso, who, when asked, would not verbally commit to Maserati becoming an electric-only brand by any given point.

Grasso said that as a luxury brand, Maserati wants to continue to give its customers a choice between ICE and BEV variants, at least through 2028, as the CEO said different markets are embracing all-electric vehicles at different rates, dependent on a number of factors. Some to consider are culture, legislation, subsidies, infrastructure, etc.

Maserati Folgore

Maserati also used today’s event to announce and showcase another venture in electric mobility. Through a collaboration with Vita Power , Maserati has developed the TRIDENTE, a 10.5-meter carbon fiber day boat that can cruise at 25 knots, reach a top speed of 40 knots, and fully recharge in under an hour on a DC charger. It can travel 50-70km (31-44 miles) on a charge, depending on how quickly you’re cruising.

Last but not least, today promises the official launch of the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore in Rimini later tonight. We are on location and will report back with the first images and specs as they come in. In the meantime, here’s that 90-second Maserati campaign video:

Electrek’s take

Those were interesting comments from Grasso, considering the entire presentation leading up to the Q&A with media was touting Maserati’s transition into the future with the Folgore name. I suppose that Maserati’s electric future still includes gas cars… at least for now.

Sorry, Maserati, but despite your new ad, that lack of commitment to BEVs actually Turns Me Off .

The windy Russian autumn weather might be a little bit tricky for sailing, but it doesn’t stop brave yachtsmen from all over the world from flocking to Russian capital in the beginning of September when the Moscow Yacht Show commences. The main Russian Yacht exhibition gathers professional and amateur yacht lovers together under the wing of The Royal Yacht Club.

This year it took place for a fourth time already. The exhibition is considered the principal event on the sporting and social calendar. The Moscow Yacht Show 2010 united in one area three of the largest Russian yachts distributors: Ultramarine, Nordmarine and Premium Yachts.

A wide range of yachts were on display for a week. An exhibition showcased yachts both from Russian manufacturers and world famous brands: Azimut, Princess, Ferretti, Pershing, Riviera, Doral, Linssen, etc.

It was a real feast for seafarers as visitors of the show had a unique chance not only to take a look at the newest superyachts before they hit the market, but also to evaluate their driving advantages during the test drive. The show provided an excellent opportunity for yacht enthusiasts to choose and buy a new boat for the next season.

The event started with the grandiose gala evening. It included grand dinner, the concert and professional awards ceremony for achievements in Russian yachting industry. The guests also enjoyed the annual regatta.

Special guest Paolo Vitelli, Azimut Benetti Group president, opened the evening.

Next year organizers assured guests they would bring more yachts, the scale of which will even make oligarch Roman Abramovich envious. Sounds very promising indeed.

Still the BOAT —

A supernova caused the boat gamma ray burst, jwst data confirms, but astronomers are puzzled by the lack of signatures of expected heavy elements..

Jennifer Ouellette - Apr 12, 2024 9:00 am UTC

Artist's visualization of GRB 221009A showing the narrow relativistic jets — emerging from a central black hole — that gave rise to the brightest gamma ray burst yet detected.

In October 2022, several space-based detectors picked up a powerful gamma-ray burst so energetic that astronomers nicknamed it the BOAT (Brightest Of All Time). Now they've confirmed that the GRB came from a supernova, according to a new paper published in the journal Nature Astronomy. However, they did not find evidence of heavy elements like platinum and gold one would expect from a supernova explosion, which bears on the longstanding question of the origin of such elements in the universe.

As we've reported previously , gamma-ray bursts are extremely high-energy explosions in distant galaxies lasting between mere milliseconds to several hours. There are two classes of gamma-ray bursts. Most (70 percent) are long bursts lasting more than two seconds, often with a bright afterglow. These are usually linked to galaxies with rapid star formation. Astronomers think that long bursts are tied to the deaths of massive stars collapsing to form a neutron star or black hole (or, alternatively, a newly formed magnetar ). The baby black hole would produce jets of highly energetic particles moving near the speed of light, powerful enough to pierce through the remains of the progenitor star, emitting X-rays and gamma rays.

Those gamma-ray bursts lasting less than two seconds (about 30 percent) are deemed short bursts, usually emitting from regions with very little star formation. Astronomers think these gamma-ray bursts are the result of mergers between two neutron stars, or a neutron star merging with a black hole, comprising a "kilonova." That hypothesis was confirmed in 2017 when the LIGO collaboration picked up the gravitational wave signal of two neutron stars merging, accompanied by the powerful gamma-ray bursts associated with a kilonova.

The October 2022 gamma-ray burst falls into the long category, lasting over 300 seconds. GRB 221009A triggered detectors aboard NASA's  Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope , the  Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory , and  Wind spacecraft , among others, just as gamma-ray astronomers had gathered for an annual meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa. The powerful signal came from the constellation Sagitta, traveling some 1.9 billion years to Earth.

Further Reading

Several papers were published last year reporting on the analytical results of all the observational data. Those findings confirmed that GRB 221009A was indeed the BOAT, appearing especially bright because its narrow jet was pointing directly at Earth. But the various analyses also yielded several surprising results that puzzled astronomers. Most notably, a supernova should have occurred a few weeks after the initial burst, but astronomers didn't detect one, perhaps because it was very faint, and thick dust clouds in that part of the sky were dimming any incoming light.

Swift’s X-ray Telescope captured the afterglow of GRB 221009A about an hour after it was first detected.

That's why Peter Blanchard of Northwestern University and his fellow co-authors decided to wait six months before undertaking their own analysis, relying on data collected during the GRB's later phase by the Webb Space Telescope's Near Infrared Spectrograph. They augmented that spectral data with observations from ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array) in Chile so they could separate light from the supernova and the GRB afterglow. The most significant finding was the telltale signatures of key elements like calcium and oxygen that one would expect to find with a supernova.

Yet the supernova wasn't brighter than other supernovae associated with less energetic GRBs, which is puzzling. "You might expect that the same collapsing star producing a very energetic and bright GRB would also produce a very energetic and bright supernova," said Blanchard . "But it turns out that's not the case. We have this extremely luminous GRB, but a normal supernova.” The authors suggest that this might have something to do with the shape and structure of the relativistic jet, which was much narrower than other GRB jets, resulting in a more focused and brighter beam of light.

The data held another surprise for astronomers. The only confirmed source of heavy elements in the universe to date is the merging of binary neutron stars. But per Blanchard, there are far too few neutron star mergers to account for the abundance of heavy elements, so there must be another source. One hypothetical additional source is a rapidly spinning massive star that collapses and explodes into a supernova. Alas, there was no evidence of heavy elements in the JWST spectral data regarding the BOAT.

“When we confirmed that the GRB was generated by the collapse of a massive star, that gave us the opportunity to test a hypothesis for how some of the heaviest elements in the universe are formed,” said Blanchard . “We did not see signatures of these heavy elements, suggesting that extremely energetic GRBs like the BOAT do not produce these elements. That doesn’t mean that all GRBs do not produce them, but it’s a key piece of information as we continue to understand where these heavy elements come from. Future observations with JWST will determine if the BOAT’s ‘normal’ cousins produce these elements.”

Swan boats return for 2024 season

BOSTON — An initiation from winter to spring Boston’s historic Swan Boats, are scheduled to return to the Public Garden on Saturday morning.

2024 marks the 147th season for the Swan Boats which is an iconic symbol of Boston and the Public Garden

The swan on the boats is made from either copper or fiberglass, depending on the age of the boat, and encloses a paddle mechanism that is used to propel the boat through the water.

Each Swan Boat weighs three tons and is made on oak-framed pontoons sheathed in copper the same way they were originally built.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, and the Paget family celebrated the 147th season.

" The opportunity to be together as a family to experience something that is so unique and fun right in the heart of the city is very special ,” said Mayor Wu.

The Swan Boats were first launched in 1877 by Irish immigrant and shipbuilder Robert Paget. The Paget family continues to operate the rides.

Some people said after weeks of gloomy, rainy weather, seeing the son was a treat.

“The weather has been horrible the last few days so it’s lovely to finally get some blue skies and some sun and be able to be out on the water,” said Sini Ngobese, Somerville.

Steven Kruszkowski, Program Director from Boston Parks and Recreation said this is just the beginning.

“The swan boat opening is truly the kick-off to spring and it’s the exciting start of all of the wonderful programming we’re going to have in all of Boston Parks,” said Kriszowski.

Pittsburgh Reopens Bridge After 26 Barges Break Loose on Ohio River

The barges, some carrying coal, damaged a marina. One barge, which likely sank, remained missing on Saturday, an official said.

A ship approaches a bridge at night. The lights from a city and mountains in the background can be seen.

By John Yoon

The authorities in Pittsburgh reopened a bridge that had been closed as a precaution after 26 barges broke loose on the Ohio River late on Friday, drifting miles downstream and damaging a marina.

There was a risk that the barges could come into contact with the “substructure” of the McKees Rocks Bridge, the McKees Rocks Police Department said in a statement early on Saturday. The department said hours later that it had reopened the bridge .

“The police department closed the bridge until our bridge unit was able to inspect the structure,” said Steve Cowan, a spokesman for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. “They found no damage.”

There were no reports of the barges striking any other structures, Mr. Cowan said.

It was unclear early Saturday why the barges had broken free. Three of the barges were empty, but 23 were loaded with dry cargo like coal, the city said, adding that no hazardous materials were on board. There were no reported injuries.

Abigail Gardner, a spokeswoman for Allegheny County, said only one of the barges was unaccounted for by early Saturday. The missing barge had probably sunk, she said.

“We have a lot of coal barge traffic,” Ms. Gardner said, adding, “It’s obviously not great when coal sinks in your river, but it’s not that uncommon here.”

The barges are owned and operated by Campbell Transportation Company. A company representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The city of Pittsburgh initially said that the West End Bridge and the rail bridge to nearby Brunot Island had been closed, but a spokeswoman for the city, Cara Cruz, said in an email on Saturday that only the McKees Rocks Bridge was closed.

The bridge closure came just weeks after a container ship struck the Key Bridge in Baltimore, causing it to collapse , killing six workers , disrupting a critical transportation link and prompting a huge salvage operation .

That collapse, on March 26, raised concerns about the structural deficiencies of many major bridges across the country.

In Pittsburgh, the loose barges caused “extensive damage” to a marina near Brunot Island, the city said.

At least 11 barges were found and pinned against a riverbank near the island and held by a tugboat, the city said. But others continued downstream, with six going over the Emsworth Dam, about five miles farther.

Efforts to recover the barges had not yet begun, said Lt. Eyobe Mills, a waterways safety manager for the U.S. Coast Guard, adding that mariners had been advised to avoid a 13-mile stretch of the Ohio River until the missing barge had been located.

The authorities began searching for the barges after the first report came around 11:25 p.m. on Friday that several were adrift, according to a shift commander at Allegheny County’s 911 center.

Barges become loose from tugboats at least once a year in the Pittsburgh region, and regularly strike bridges, but none of the crashes have caused major structural damage , Stephen Shanley, Allegheny County’s public works director, told The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

The McKees Rocks Bridge opened in 1931 and stretches more than a mile across the Ohio River.

As part of the Blue Belt, the innermost of several roads that loop around Pittsburgh, the bridge connects Pittsburgh and the borough of McKees Rocks. About 25,000 vehicles cross it daily, according to Federal Highway Administration data from 2023.

A flood warning was in effect until Saturday evening in Allegheny County, which includes the Ohio River in Pittsburgh, where water levels had risen above the flood stage, 25 feet, by early Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Emily Schmall contributed reporting.
