well it’s been a while since we’ve taken a look at the luxury super yotts in GTA 5 online so time for a comprehensive breakdown my name’s Dan and I’m an old grumpy gamer we have a lot to cover here the yacht is a complex piece of Kit with a few bits of functionality and lots of options so we’ll be going through why want to buy a yacht budget and purchase options return on investment had to purchase one calling in your heli boat or a job moving the yacht management defenses and how to host an exotic dancer so first things first why on Earth would you want a yacht well there’s a few core reasons the luxury heli depending on your budget your new yacht might come with a helicopter which can be called in for a small fee they have specific spawn points so they’re not quite as convenient as a sparrow or an oppressor but they’re still nice watercraft so that’s a few jet skis and a lovely power booat all of which are station off the back of the yacht an additional spawn point unsurprisingly the Yachts have a bedroom so you can spawn in this can be handy if your businesses are near the Southwest coast or you want quicker access to Los Santos airport anti-g Griefer measures the OT comes with a neat defense system that gives you safe haven it has a couple of caveats but this is a great way to deal with vehicle based idiots access to Executive missions and that the yacht gives you access to a facility specific set of missions they’re designed for noobs can be done solo and it’s a hell of a flex I mean there is a nice facility to have and one of the most expensive things you can own in the game so it’s a cracking way to show off right budget and purchase options we have three different options to choose from with the Ys oh and don’t worry about the pricing on screen I picked this up during an event week before we get into pricing every yacht is 210 ft and comes with a bar guest room and the ability to host uh professional friends you might meet while spending time at the Vanilla Unicorn the oran at $6 million comes with a single helip pad a small twers canopy Runabout and one jet ski the Pisces at $7 million and this one comes with two helip pads the Swift Deluxe helicopter pagari speeder arguably the best boat in the game a dingy and two jet skis oh and a hot tub and finally the Aquarius at $8 million this is the same size and birth as the other yachts and has two helip pads a hot tub a dingy same as the Pisces but also comes with a super volito carbon and the Toro and four jet skis so I’ve gone for the Aquarius here but only because it was on super special if I was paying full price the Pisces at 7 million is the better buy in my opinion the speedboat and the helicopter that comes with the Pisces is much better and really how often do you use four jet skiis at the same damn time next up is the trim Chrome is included but you can step up with gold fittings for an additional 750 $50,000 lighting and color schemes is next again there’s a free option but if you want to pick from the eight other available options it’ll set you back anywhere up to 600 Grand sticking with the Aesthetics the paint job is next starting with the white paint job and gray trim included and with 12 options ranging in price up to $650,000 and the final option is your flag and yacht name both of which are included in the original price so your minimum out of pocket on this one is $6 million which gets you the base model yacht and nothing else if you have around 88 million to spend though the Pisces with a few aesthetic upgrades would be the go to return on investment now there are six missions in total and depending on your skill with a chopper boat and Firearm they’ll take you between 8 and 20 minutes each and typically pay between 20 and $30,000 which means an absolute minimum of 200 missions or 27 hours to break even if you go for the absolute cheapest option and get the maximum pay out every time Honestly though it would be more like like 300 missions in 75 hours of grinding at maximum difficulty to get your money back so great Flex rubbish investment you do get this sweet Captain’s outfit though which is nice right so once you’ve decided on your model find somewhere safe open your phone and head to the internet then to vehicles and transport Doc te’s and click the Galaxy super yacht Panner pick your yacht and set your options click byy now and you’ll immediately receive a notification and a new contact close out the internet by hitting the X top right and you’ll see a new notification with the YT icon top left as well as a message from the captain of your new vessel after that you can head back out to the free roam Lobby and you’ll notice another notification this time about your chopper if your yacht comes with one and I’ll cover how to call that in in a bit when you’re ready head over to your new yacht and take a look around and after you’ve had a bit of an explore head to the helm and that’s where the captain hangs out and into the yellow marker to start your yacht missions okay so there’s a few additional things that you can do with your yacht which can come in handy soon uh you can call in a heli a boat or the job so firstly if you’ve gone for the Pisces or an aquarius you can call in your helicopter to do this open your phone and go to contacts toggle down to the captain and give him a call once he picks up select request helicopter which will s you back $1,000 now this is a bit old school so the chopper will spawn in one of a few dozen set places around the map which was great back in the day but it is pretty inconvenient if you’re used to the sparrow or a mark 2 oppressor but anyway once it’s spawned in you’ll see a new Chopper icon on the map head over and you’re good to go while we’re on the captain’s phone you may have also noticed a few other options you can use this same menu to call in your premium boat which will again spawn somewhere up the coast oh and you can request a personal vehicle or your next job to should you feel so inclined the next thing you can do is move your yacht around the coastline now again this is a little old school so you can’t actually drive the damn thing sadly it’s not the kazaka but you can have the yacht quick travel to different locations in the lobby albeit at a particularly ouchy cost of 25 Grand a throw to do this head to the helm on your yacht stand next to the captain to trigger the button prompt top left of the screen click the button noted and bring up the location menu then cycle through the locations until you found the one you’re after yacht defenses and management is next to access these you can be on the yacht or anywhere outside on the free Ro map head to the interaction menu That’s am on your keyboard double squares on the Xbox controller or swipe on your PlayStation scroll down to services and Galaxy Super yot from there there’s a few things you can do skipping the defenses for a moment we can set up who has access to the boats jet skis and Chopper if you have one we can also change who can access the yacht itself and what type of clothing people wear in the hot tub if your yacht has one finally let’s scroll back up to defenses when these are on and don’t forget to set exclusions but when these are on any player in the free roam Lobby in a vehicle will be targeted by the defense system oh and it also takes care of guided missiles from the caku but here’s the rub it’s only players in vehicles if someone swims to your yacht they won’t be targeted and will be able to board the vessel so it’s great for Mark 2 and Jet Griefers but not so good for people who are just running around being a Pon in the ass oh and there’s one more thing with the defenses when they’re on no one can draw a weapon no one it’s great because you can’t have a griefer come in and shoot up the place but it also means you can’t draw and shoot anyone your own self finally if you’ve made friends with one of the ladies at the Vanilla Unicorn you can invite them over to party with you and your friends to do this you’ll need to have spent a bit of coin at the Vanilla Unicorn targeting um sorry befriending one specific dancer doesn’t matter which one just pick one you think is pretty and focus on them once you’ve been given their number you can head back to the yacht from the outside deck open your phone and navigate to the contacts scroll down to the name of the dancer and give them a call and invite invite them to your apartment once she hangs up immediately walk into the cabin after a few moments your friend will buzz and you’ll see the controls to let them in top left let them in and you can kick on with them for as long as you like and that’s about it thanks for watching stay safe wash your hands The Best Boats To Buy In GTA Online

There are a plethora of available boats to buy on the GTA Online marketplace but a select few are a notch above the rest.

There are several classes of vehicles in GTA Online , all of which are quite well-known to any veteran of the franchise. However, there is one certain class of vehicle that tends to get overlooked and undervalued in GTA Online. That class is the boats, which are extremely useful and unique in their own right compared to cars, jets, etc. While boats don't serve as many purposes as those aforementioned vehicles, they can still be a solid class to either collect or stock up on so you're ready for any occasion.

In this guide, we'll be going over what we believe to be the best boats to buy in GTA Online. This list will not include yachts or the Kosatka submarine , however, as we feel those are in a class of their own. Instead, we'll be focusing on actual boats, which range from military-grade to racing to luxury.

Best Boats in GTA Online

While some players might think the fastest boats in GTA Online equals the best, that's not entirely true. Though it does apply to certain boats, there are some that aren't fast at all but might be more worth your money than a boat that can blaze across the Pacific Ocean.

Shitzu Longfin

The Longfin kicks this list off, and for great reasons. Not only does the Longfin have the top boat speed of 122 miles per hour, but it also features outstanding handling, perhaps better than any other boat in GTA Online. Though the handling does come down a bit thanks to the large body of the Longfin, players can still fly around sharp turns with ease while still maintaining their speed. Performance aside, the Longfin has a sleek and slender look that screams luxury. What also screams luxury is its price tag, which is $2,125,000. This is by no means the most expensive boat in the game but it does require players to open their wallets more so than other options.

Lampadati Toro

The Lampadati Toro is yet another luxury boat that comes pre-equipped with a decent speedometer and a terrific aesthetic. The Toro tops out at around 50 miles per hour, which isn't nearly as fast as the top boats in GTA Online. However, the Toro has high acceleration, meaning players will get faster over time, allowing them to catch up to another boat in a race or speed away from police. Its handling is a bit lackluster and will still spend $1,750,000 to acquire it. However, the Toro is a solid investment that's a ton of fun to drive.

Pegassi Speeder

While the Pegassi Speeder doesn't have the top-rated boat speed in GTA Online, coming in at 68 miles per hour, or superior handling and acceleration, it does come with a feature other boats don't. That feature is the ability to be stored on the Galaxy Super Yacht, which comes in handy when you're planning a heist or waiting on your yacht for other reasons. The Speeder also doesn't cost an arm and a leg, only coming in at $325,000. While it's not the best boat in GTA Online, having the ability to be stored on the Galaxy Super Yacht and featuring above-average performance makes it a great purchase.

Nagasaki Weaponized Dinghy

Who doesn't love a dinghy with a machine gun? The Nagasaki Weaponized Dinghy is an extremely popular boat in GTA Online, mostly due to its machine gun and overall performance. It has a top speed of 71.50 miles per hour, making it faster than plenty of standard boats. However, it cannot be used in standard races, so players might have to use the regular Nagasaki Dinghy for those needs. The difference between the two is the standard Dinghy has no weapons but can be raced. The price for the weaponized version is $1,850,000, which is actually not a bad deal for what you're getting in return. Comparatively, the price for the non-weaponized version is only $166,250.

If you want an even better weaponized boat, you can shell out for the Kurts 31 Patrol Boat, which costs nearly $3 million. The Patrol Boat has better overall performance than the Dinghy but does cost over 50% more.

Speedophile Seashark

Rounding out our list is the best Jetski in GTA Online. While not technically a boat, since there are so few high-performance Jetskis in the game, we decided to include the Seashark. It has two variants, the standard one and the Lifeguard one. The only difference between the two is their paint jobs. Both have a top speed of 67 miles per hour, keeping them competitive with top-rated boats on the open water. As one would expect, the Jetskis also have terrific handling.

As a cherry on top, the Seashark can also be stored on the Galaxy Super Yacht and doesn't cost much, coming in at only $17,000. If anything, the Seashark is a worthwhile purchase for the simple pleasure of riding a Jetski on the Pacific Ocean in GTA Online.

The yacht makes a statement in GTA 5. B oats have several places where two surfaces come together at an angle, and special pieces—breasthooks and knees—are used join them together and add strength. Breasthooks are V-shaped blocks at the acute angle at the bow and, on double-enders, at the stern as well. Knees are supports closer to a right angle, and on open boats they’re most often quarter knees joining gunwales to a transom or seat knees supporting the topsides at the thwarts.

Short, blunt-toed knees, like this one in a Davis boat, are quite common. Devoting a little more time and thought to knees will give them a lighter, more elegant appearance.

Knees and breasthooks made of solid blocks of straight-grained wood can be serviceable, but if the toes (the knee’s extremities) are fattened up too much to make up for the weakness of the cross-grain there, they don’t do much for a boat’s appearance. Pieces made from grown crooks are stronger because the grain runs with the loads, and much handsomer because they didn’t need to be bulky. Indeed, when carefully shaped they elevate the boat’s structure from “good enough” to art.

This apple-crook breasthook is in a New York Whitehall built in 1983. Well cured before it was installed, it hasn’t checked or separated from the surrounding structure.

The grain in the Whitehall’s bookmatched fruitwood quarter knees not only follows the angle between the transom and the sheerstrake, it curves into the transom at the ends of the toes.

In former days when open boats commonly went alongside larger boats, seat knees were essential to the boat’s structure and were sometimes massive, keeping the sides from being stove in. Tenders and ship’s boats typically had two seat knees at each end of a thwart. With today’s light, glued-lapstrake construction they can be equally important in reinforcing the structure.

This fruitwood crook in the New York Whitehall braces a thwart that serves as mast partner. The toe is slender enough for rivets to be used to make the attachment.

The traditional thwart knee was a marvel of simple joinery. The part that supports the sheer plank was often carefully locked into the gunwale structure. Some were set on top of the thwart, either parallel to its edge or at an angle to it. Their toes might have decorative points cut at their ends. Others were fastened to the vertical edge of a thwart and carefully shaped in a show of lightness and elegance.L-shaped grown crooks were prized pieces of wood, but as they became scarce, many boatbuilders who built substantial numbers of boats went to metal knees. Today it is hard for most boatbuilders to find grown stock needed for traditional knees. Aside from requiring the trees to harvest, the crooks have to be cured without developing splits and sawn into flat pieces prior to shaping.

The cross grain shows up clearly in this knee but it was made out of stock wide enough to give it a nice shape.  The knees in the author’s Antonio Dias-designed Harrier are screwed to the seats from underneath.

In knees sawn from straight-grained stock, the toes are often blunt and thick, their length limited by the width of the stock used and their height, making up for weak cross-grain, requiring screw-fastening from underneath the thwart. It doesn’t have to be that way. With laminations and reliable glued joints, it isn’t hard to recapture the look and strength of natural knees. Steam-bent knees can provide a sweeping curve and slender toes, but they require blocking to provide the support of a solid knee. Stock can be created by laminating narrow strips of wood; knees can be built with half-lapped or splined pieces much the way that today’s builders emulate the natural crooks once used on dory frames.

Steam-bent knees backed by a block of matching wood are every bit as functional and attractive as those made from a grown crook.

Ben Fuller , curator of the Penobscot Marine Museum in Searsport, Maine, has been messing about in small boats for a very long time. He is owned by a dozen or more boats ranging from an International Canoe to a faering.

A Gallery of Breasthooks and Knees

This wherry built by Cooper and Sons in Shrewsbury, England, in the late 1800s has a breasthook made of a single piece of straight-grained wood. The inner edge is scribed with a decorative groove.

The quarter knees in the Shrewsbury wherry have exceptionally long toes.

The wherry’s passenger seat has slender knees with long, elegant toes.

Thwart knees are occasionally built into the edge of the thwart they support. This knee in the wherry is  cut from a crook and becomes a frame head.

This laminated mahogany knee in a Chamberlain gunning dory is wide enough to provide strength without a filler block backing it.

This breasthook in a Hvalsoe 13 is curved along its forward edge and set apart from the stem. This makes fitting easier, avoids an area that tends to weather poorly, and offers a convenient place to anchor a painter. The two halves of the breasthook are held together by epoxy alone, and while the joint has held up well for over 20 years, keeping the varnish in good shape will assure the bond doesn’t fail.

The grain of the crook used for this 1982 Whitehall’s breasthook is clearly visible.

These double knees are from a tender built in the mid-coast area of Maine in the 1930s. The boat is as nice as anything turned out by the more highly regarded boatbuilders of Massachusetts or Rhode Island.

Pointed toes add a distinctive touch to LITTLE ELVA, a 16′ captain’s gig built in 1881 by a carpenter aboard the Downeaster sailing ship CORA. The gig was built along the lines of a workboat, but intended for pleasure outings and given some fancy woodwork.

LITTLE ELVA’s dainty quarter knees were let into the inwales and a cleat across the transom.

The LITTLE ELVA breasthook was also let into the inwales.

The quarter knees and breasthook in this Lawley-built tender are bronze and well suited for a boat built in great numbers.

When Lawley switched to metal breasthooks and quarterknees, the tenders still had nicely shaped wooden thwart knees. Eventually these too were done in bronze.

This thwart knee on one of the small rowboats built in Vinalhaven, Maine, is a good example the of fine work that was just another day in the shop for the boatbuilder.

The ordinary Vinalhaven rowboats were built with an eye toward lightness and interesting curves.

Elegance was once the norm even on working peapods. The builders didn’t think about it, they just did it.

Hadn’t noticed that one despite having seen the boat dozens of times. Good catch. I’ll add it to my file. Just goes to show that the eye can continue to be trained. Time spent in a boat collection is time well spent.

Your article on knees and breasthooks was a very useful guide for those in the Seil I’m building in the back yard. These quarter knees are not yet complete. The miter joint is doweled with stainless all-thread.

Angels of mike trout leaves early from first rehab start in minors due to knee soreness.

SALT LAKE CITY – Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout lasted just two innings of his first rehab start in the minors on Tuesday night due to soreness in his surgically-repaired left knee.

The three-time MVP struck out in his only at-bat for Triple-A Salt Lake, making his first rehab appearance since tearing the meniscus in his left knee in late April. Trout was pulled after two innings and the Angels said it was due to knee soreness and that he was day to day.

Angels manager Ron Washington said before their game on Tuesday in Seattle the plan was for Trout to play five innings in his first game, would be the designated hitter on Wednesday and hopefully be ready to play seven innings in the field on Thursday.

“Wait and see how things go each day,” Washington said. “He’s not going to want to come back unless he’s sure. We are very happy to be close to having him back.”

Trout was hitting .220 with 10 home runs and 14 RBIs in 29 games this season before he was injured. The 32-year-old has appeared in just 226 games since the start of the 2021 season due to injuries.
