Tommy Hilfiger told Yilmazer that he decided to buy a yacht after he spent years chartering them. “My friend built a yacht and it was pretty fantastic so I bought it,” he said.

"It was called Faith before and I changed it to Flag," Hilfiger told Yilmazer. "The reason why I changed it to Flag is because my logo of my company is a red, white and blue flag and because of my company I was able to buy the yacht." He said the reason why he wanted to buy a Feadship yacht is "the same reason I wanted a Mercedes, they're the best in the world."

Yilmazer told Insider: "The experience of staying aboard Flag was really incredible, to be invited aboard this yacht by the owners Tommy and Dee Hilfiger made it really special."

Yilmazer added: "Something that I take great pride in is attention to detail. Its something that I always look for in our tours. The attention to detail that the builders and architects put into the work they do is the same level of precision that I want to bring to our tours. And with Flag it was clear in every way that attention to detail matters to both this crew and to Tommy himself. This yacht is in perfect condition in every way."

There's a dining table for six where Yilzamer and his team had their meals. It leads to the sky lounge where there's a bar, TV, couches, and seating area.

YACHT REGISTRATION — CHOOSING YOUR FLAG

Posted November 22, 2019 in Brokerage & New Build by Janine St.Denis

If you’re considering purchasing a yacht , there’s a lot more to contemplate than simply where you’ll be cruising. Your choice of flag state, the nation where your yacht is registered one of the most important decisions you will make as a yacht owner.  Your choice of flag may affect the taxes you pay regarding the purchase and operation of your yacht, how your yacht is crewed, where it may sail and how often authorities may board and inspect your yacht.

Many European nations, and the United States, have onerous and labyrinthine maritime laws and codes. If you choose to charter out your yacht, this may complicate matters further as chartering means the yacht is under commercial vessel regulations; the rules of many ports demand different standards between private and commercial.

For the American yacht owner, there may be a sense of pride to fly Old Glory off the aft of the yacht, but US vessel documentation can cause some issues. Registering your yacht in a non-US jurisdiction can be part of the solution. That being said, there are some benefits to the US flag. If your yacht clocks in at less than 300 Gross Tons (a measurement based on interior volume, not weight), obtaining a US flag is fast and easy, particularly for yachts staying in US waters or cruising The Bahamas or Caribbean; it also is patriotic and cheaper for US-built yachts. But if you’re planning to cruise outside of the aforementioned areas, the benefits to a foreign flag may outweigh your patriotic leanings.

The Foreign Flag — What it means for your yacht registration

Most US and EU yacht owners choose to register their vessels under foreign flags. The flag of the vessel determines who is responsible for regulating and inspecting the vessel. The flag nation also determines under whose laws and jurisdiction the vessel operates (local port state laws may also apply). Due to this, most US and EU yacht owners prefer to register their yachts under jurisdictions that have streamlined taxation and registration procedures and lower tax rates, and also allow for multiple registrations of vessel names and owner anonymity.

British Commonwealth or “Red Ensign” nations are among the most popular flags for yacht registration. These nations are Bermuda, Gibraltar, Jersey, Guernsey, Turks and Caicos, Isle of Man, British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands. These jurisdictions are favored for their tax rates, ease of administration, favorable local corporate tax laws, and adherence to the Paris Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control (Paris MoU).  They also allow the yacht to operate under the Temporary Import Regime (which allows a non-European owned vessel to operate for 18 months without the vessel being subject to custom duties or the EU’s Value Added Tax [VAT]).

Some of the other most popular yacht flag designations are listed below.

The Marshall Islands & St Vincent & the Grenadines

Yachts with these flags have advantages similar to the Dutch registry, but these flags are better for pleasure yachting and charters based in the South Pacific. The flags are part of the Paris MOU White List, there are no taxes on operating profits, and they offer strong maritime support from maritime offices around the world.

Malta yacht registration is ideal for those who must remain registered under an EU flag but need relief from onerous VAT calculations. The Maltese flag is one of the most popular flags of registry for superyacht owners in the EU, as it is listed on both the Tokyo and Paris MOUs, the Maltese flag receives preferential treatment regarding port charges and taxes, there are no restrictions as to the nationality of the master, crew and officers of the vessel and the flag offers expedited service for registration and extensive yacht owner support.

Panama is an inexpensive alternative if you plan to sail primarily in and around the Caribbean. Panama has low tax and registration rates and offers corporate structures ideal for running a charter or other commercial related venture.

The Final Choice – Which Flag to Choose?

Each yacht owner’s situation is unique and, as such, you should consult with the appropriate maritime counsel and your yacht broker to ensure that your yacht flies a flag that makes the best sense for how you intend to use your yacht.

Cruising in Style: Onboard Tommy Hilfiger’s charter yacht FLAG

By Paloma Shemirani   20 October 2023

With over 3 millions subscribers on YouTube, Enes Yilmazer is known for his video tours of high-end real estate and luxury lifestyle content. In March 2023, he was invited aboard the renowned fashion designer’s motor yacht to review it during a 3-day charter in the Bahamas , starting in Nassau.

Formerly named Faith, Tommy Hilfiger bought the 204-foot vessel by Feadship back in 2017 and renamed it FLAG after his company’s iconic logo. When Yilmazer asked why he had bought a Feadship, Hilfiger simply replied, ‘they’re the best in the world.’ Being so impressed by the boat’s beautiful interiors and numerous special features, Yilmazer’s review certainly endorses this.

Yilmazer standing with Tommy Hilfiger and his wife after interview about FLAG

Throughout the video, Yilmazer repeatedly praised FLAG’s classical interiors that were designed by Chahan Minassian: having been refitted in 2022, the interiors are characterized by their elegant light wooden paneling which perfectly complements the cream shade of the plush carpets, leather wraps, and natural stone flooring. As Yilmazer pointed out, the boat may be over twenty years old (being constructed in 2000), but her classic designs are truly timeless– ensuring a broad appeal for any and all who wish to charter her.

With this colour palette, FLAG has a light, airy feel to it, which is enhanced by the large windows and portholes built in throughout the different decks. It also goes perfectly with the red, white, and blue colour motifs seen throughout most of the rooms– a tasteful homage to the Hilfiger brand.

While remaining classical in style, modern elements like motorized doors and pop-up TV’s were seamlessly integrated into the interiors

FLAG's after bears the Hilfiger logo

In his first full day on the luxury charter yacht , Yilmazer was quick to take advantage of FLAG’s extensive selection of water toys which included SeaBobs, jetskis, and even an ‘aquabana’ which floated on the Caribbean waters by the inflatable water course. Charter guests can even slide into the water from the upper deck using the inflatable slide. Hilfiger had added to the megayacht’s selection of water toys, which have become his wife’s favourite aspect of the boat.

After a day of fun in the sea, guests can head inside for an exquisite meal cooked by Chef Josh. When interviewed, Hilfiger praised the chef’s freshly-made bread and what he called ‘Nobu night’, which was a delicious selection of sushi and Asian cuisine prepared in the galley’s state-of-the-art facilities. On the sun deck there’s even a pizza oven, meaning that you and your party can experience dishes from across the world in just one charter. After dinner, you can relax in the sun deck’s jacuzzi  with one of FLAG's signature cocktails.

I keep it in impeccable condition... The crew is incredibly experienced and professional... my family looks at them as family.

Yilmazer was also impressed by the number of special features on FLAG; this included an elevator which could go between all the floors– a must-have on such a large vessel. When touring round the master suite, the vlogger also remarked on the LED light embedded in the clothing rails to illuminate all your clothes– a feature he had not seen before on either another yacht or even in real estate. Finally, in each of the 7 suites there were independent thermostats which allow guests a truly comfortable and bespoke experience as they can alter the room’s temperature to their unique tastes.

Light stone flooring and large windows bring lots of light to FLAG's bathrooms

If Yilmazer’s glowing review has tempted you, then FLAG is available for charter in the Bahamas in the winter starting at $476 000. The yacht is also on sale for $46 million. Be sure to speak to your preferred charter broker to book FLAG for your next charter vacation.

The Most Expensive Superyacht in the World

When it comes to superyachts, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, certainly knows how to make a statement.

His luxury vessel, the 463-foot Al Mirqab, holds the title of the world’s most expensive superyacht.

Built in 2008 by German shipbuilder Peters Werft, this impressive yacht is complete with 10 luxurious cabins, a conference room, cinema, and all the amenities one would expect from a vessel of this magnitude.

In addition, the Al Mirqab features a helipad, swimming pool, and even an outdoor Jacuzzi.

With a price tag of over $400 million, the Al Mirqab is one of the most expensive yachts in the world.

In addition to the Emir of Qatar, there are several other notable owners of superyachts.

Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos all own luxurious vessels.

Bezos yacht, the aptly named The Flying Fox, is one of the longest superyachts in the world at a staggering 414 feet in length.

The Flying Fox also comes with a host of amenities, such as a helipad, swimming pool, spa, and multiple outdoor entertaining areas.

Bezos also reportedly spent over $400 million on the vessel.

Other notable owners of superyachts include Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, who owns the $200 million Kingdom 5KR, and Oracle founder Larry Ellison, who owns the $200 million Rising Sun.

There are also many lesser-known owners, such as hedge-fund manager Ken Griffin, who owns the $150 million Aviva, and investor Sir Philip Green, who owns the $100 million Lionheart.

No matter who owns them, superyachts are sure to turn heads.

With their impressive size, luxurious amenities, and hefty price tags, these vessels have become a symbol of wealth and prestige.

What Amenities are Included on Superyachts?

Owning a superyacht is a sign of wealth and prestige, and many of the worlds most prominent billionaires have their own vessels.

The most expensive superyacht in the world is owned by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, while other notable owners include Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

Superyachts come with all the comforts of home, and then some.

Many owners will equip their vessels with swimming pools, helicopter pads, on-board cinemas, spas, and other luxury amenities.

The interior of a superyacht can be custom-designed to the owners specifications.

Many of the most luxurious yachts feature marble floors, walk-in closets, and custom-made furniture.

How Much Do Superyachts Cost?

flag superyacht owner

When it comes to superyachts, the sky is the limit when it comes to cost.

These luxury vessels come with hefty price tags that can range from anywhere between $30 million to over $400 million.

So, if youre in the market for a superyacht, youre looking at an investment that could easily break the bank.

The cost of a superyacht is driven by a variety of factors, including size, amenities, and customization.

Generally, the larger the yacht, the more expensive it will be.

Superyachts typically range in size from 100 feet to over 200 feet, and they can be as wide as 40 feet.

The bigger the yacht, the more luxurious features and amenities it will have.

Amenities also play a significant role in the cost of a superyacht.

While some owners prefer to keep their yachts out of the public eye, others have made headlines with their extensive amenities.

From swimming pools and helicopter pads to on-board cinemas and spas, the sky is the limit when it comes to customizing a superyacht.

The more amenities a superyacht has, the more expensive it will be.

Finally, customization is another major factor that will drive up the cost of a superyacht.

Many luxury vessels have custom-designed interiors that are tailored to the owners tastes.

From custom furniture and artwork to lighting and audio systems, the cost of a superyacht can quickly escalate depending on the level of customization.

In short, the cost of a superyacht can vary widely depending on its size, amenities, and customization.

While some may be able to get away with spending a few million dollars, others may end up spending hundreds of millions of dollars on their dream yacht.

No matter what your budget is, its important to do your research and find out exactly what youre getting for your money before signing on the dotted line.

Keeping Superyachts Out of the Public Eye

When it comes to owning a superyacht, some owners prefer to keep their vessels out of the public eye.

Understandably, these individuals are concerned with privacy and discretion, and therefore tend to take measures to ensure their yachts are not visible to outsiders.

For instance, some superyacht owners opt to keep their vessels in private marinas, away from the public areas of larger ports.

Additionally, some yacht owners may choose to hire security guards to patrol and protect their vessels while they are moored or sailing.

In addition to physical security, some superyacht owners also use technology to keep their vessels out of the public eye.

For example, a yacht owner may choose to install a satellite-based communications system that allows them to keep their vessel completely off-radar.

This system works by bouncing signals off satellites rather than transmitting them, making it virtually impossible for anyone to track the yachts movements.

Finally, some superyacht owners also choose to limit the number of people who have access to their vessels.

For instance, the owner may only allow family members and close friends to board the yacht.

Additionally, the owner may choose to employ a limited number of staff to help maintain the vessel and keep it running smoothly.

These individuals may be required to sign non-disclosure agreements to ensure they do not disclose any information about the yacht or its owner.

Overall, while some superyacht owners may choose to keep their vessels out of the public eye, there are still plenty of other ways to show off the opulence associated with owning a superyacht.

From swimming pools and helicopter pads to on-board cinemas and spas, there are many luxurious amenities that can make a superyacht the envy of any jet setter.

Final Thoughts

Superyachts are a symbol of luxury and status, and the list of yacht owners reads like a who’s who of billionaires.

From the Emir of Qatar’s world-record breaking $400 million yacht to Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s vessel with a helicopter pad and on-board spa, the amenities of these luxury vessels are truly stunning.

With prices ranging from $30 million to over $400 million, owning a superyacht is an expensive endeavor.

Whether you’re looking to purchase one or just curious to learn more about the owners and their amenities, this guide will provide you with all the information you need to stay up to date with the superyacht scene.

Mourners gathered at a Pennsylvania church Friday for the funeral of the volunteer fire chief killed at Donald Trump’s rally last weekend – as the deceased’s casket was carried from the venue draped in a US flag.

The casket of Corey Comperatore, 50, was carried by eight firefighters out of Cabot United Methodist Church as the deceased’s widow and other mourner’s looked on.

The husband and father of two was killed while trying to shield his family when a gunman opened fire from a factory rooftop during Trump’s rally at the Butler Farm Show grounds Saturday evening.

Corey Comperatore

His widow, Helen Comperatore, recalled her husband’s  final warning to “Get down!”  as the shooter rained bullets into the crowd.

“He’s my hero,” Helen told The Post on Monday. “He just said, ‘Get down!’ That was the last thing he said.”

Trump, 78, was grazed by a bullet during the assassination attempt. Two other rally-goers were critically wounded, but are expected to recover.

Trump paid tribute to “our friend Corey”  during his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention on Thursday night by bringing his fire helmet and jacket onto the stage.

People were seen leaving Corey Comperatore's private funeral.

The former president kissed Comperatore’s helmet as he lamented how “he lost his life selflessly acting as a human shield to protect them from flying bullets.”

Comperatore was honored with a public procession in Freeport on Thursday.

The services will be followed by a procession of up to 500 fire trucks from the church to the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company in Sarver, where Comperatore served for several years, the New York Times reported.

The funeral services will be private, followed by a procession of up to 500 fire trucks from the church to the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company in Sarver, Pa.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said on Friday that she would order state flags lowered to half-staff in Comperatore’s honor “the day of the funeral” – though she appeared confused about the fact that the funeral was taking place that morning.

“We’re looking at that for the day of the funeral. When’s the funeral? We gotta find out when the funeral is,” Hochul said at the morning presser,  according to POLITICO’s Jason Beeferman.

A short time later, the governor’s office issued a formal announcement ordering the flags to be lowered – after the funeral itself was well underway.

“Corey Comperatore was a father, a public servant, and a proud American whose life was taken in a senseless act of violence that shakes at the core of our democracy,” Hochul wrote. “As we honor his memory, let us commit once more to the better angels of our nature, and to the collective freedoms we enjoy as a nation.”

Texas gun influencer says he's shocked to see his logo on Trump shooter

Portrait of Nick Penzenstadler

A popular gun YouTuber expressed shock that the man who attempted to assassinate Donald Trump was wearing one of his branded t-shirts.

Images of the shooter that circulated online − after he was killed by Secret Service agents − showed him wearing a beige T-shirt with logo and American flag on the sleeve that match one sold by the online channel Demolition Ranch.

Matt Carriker, a Texas-based influencer with more than 11 million subscribers , initially posted a photo Saturday of the shooter in his shirt with the line, “What the hell?” and pledged to put out a statement via YouTube.

That statement arrived Monday afternoon.

He wished the victims of the shooting well and said his channel is not meant to incite violence or hate.

“We don’t vet the people who buys our shirts. ... I wish I could, I would love keep people like that from buying, wearing, being associated with that article of clothing," Carriker said in his video. “The difference in a gunman wearing a pair of Nike shoes and a gunman wearing my T-shirt is this brand is much more personal to me. ... To see my name next to the shooter’s name, it sucks, and I wish we could keep that from happening.”

Carriker said has been deluged with news requests, but he never met or knew the Trump shooter .

More: Online footprint ties gunman’s father to gun marketplaces

Carriker, 38, a former veterinarian-turned internet celebrity has a sprawling empire of online content, merchandise and firearms training based in Texas. His channel is a variety show of shooting, reviews and entertainment around guns.

A friend and fellow so-called “guntuber” Brandon Herrera defended Carriker’s video content and called it an “apolitical, family-friendly G-rated shooting channel.”

“Demolition Ranch is the best of us, and the slander being thrown his way is heinous,” Herrera told USA TODAY. “Demolition Ranch has as much to do with the assassination as (YouTuber) PewDiePie had with the Christchurch shooter. The idea he should change his content or merch is absurd.”

In 2019, a gunman killed 51 people in two mosques in New Zealand — but uttered: “Remember lads, subscribe to PewDiePie” on his livestream of the shooting. The Swedish YouTuber distanced himself from the meme and dealt with the fallout days after the attack.

In February, Carriker announced online that a portion of that portfolio, his wife’s active-wear clothing line, would shutter and she and his children would back away from the online appearances. He cited threatening behavior from Internet subscribers.

“We’ve had people drive to our house, jump our gate, walk down to our house and knock on the door,” Carriker said. “They get answered with me with a gun. It hasn’t ended well for anyone who has done that.”

Carriker said his family had been the subject of hacked cell phones, social media and streaming services like Netflix and Hulu.

“We’ve had issues with stalkers that are just invested in our lives too much,” Carriker said. “All of this stuff was brought on by us, we put all this information on the internet with our faces and names.”

After Saturday's shooting at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania, which left one man dead and others as well as Trump wounded , Fans of the YouTube channel posted on message boards and sent messages of support to the brand. The top comment on Carriker’s post was a fan – a member of the Demolitia, as they’re known – saying he would wear different colored variations of the same shirt worn by the Trump shooter as a sign of support.

“The actual Demolitia have your back 100%,” he wrote.

More: Just a hobby or reckless marketing gimmick? The world of kid gun influencers.

The shooter’s merchandise was reminiscent of other high-profile tactical and shooting brands having a brush with current events.

Many of the Jan. 6 rioters were spotted wearing tactical gear — like plate carriers, designed to hold bulletproof plates. A photo of one rioter wearing a Grunt Style sweatshirt stirred controversy .

The San Antonio CEO of that brand quickly tried to distance himself from the rioters.

Similar attention fell on Kyle Rittenhouse, the 17-year-old from Illinois who was acquitted in the shooting deaths of two people during the Kenosha, Wisconsin, riot in 2020. The first images broadcast worldwide were of the teen holding his AR-style rifle at his home, wearing a 5.11 logo T-shirt.

The shooting gear provider Brownells distanced itself from Jan. 6 rioters wearing its clothing. Ryan Repp, Brownell’s vice president of marketing, wrote to USA TODAY in 2020: “Brownells does not encourage anyone to engage in acts to overthrow the government through any means or marketing tactic.”

Delta apologizes for posts criticizing attendants' palestinian flag pins, will ban all but u.s. pins.

Delta Air Lines apologized Thursday after an employee used the company's social media account to say they would be "terrified" if they saw a Delta flight attendant wearing a Palestinian flag pin.

The company also announced that, starting Monday, the only flag pin that flight attendants will be able to wear is that of the United States.

"Delta removed a mistakenly posted comment on X Wednesday because it was not in line with our values and our mission to connect the world," Delta spokesperson Morgan Durrant said in an emailed statement.

The employee who made the comments will no longer handle the airline's social media pages, Durrant added.

"The team member responsible for the post has been counseled and no longer supports Delta's social channels," he said. "We apologize for this error."

The now-deleted comments were in response to a Wednesday post on X by user @iliketeslas. It included two photos showing flight attendants wearing Palestinian flag pins as they served passengers. The post equated the Palestinian flag pin to a "Hamas badge," Hamas being the militant group that governs Gaza and has been designated a terrorist organization.

Screenshots show Delta replied in a comment the next day: "I hear you and I'd be terrified as well, personally. Our employees reflect our culture and we do not take it lightly when our policy is not being followed."

Another social media comment by Delta said the company would investigate the pins being worn. "Nothing to worry [about], this is being investigated already, particularly the involved parties," it read.

The comments later disappeared from Delta's account. Airline officials declined to specify where the pictures were taken, but Durrant said they were taken on separate flights on different days. The two employees who wore the pins are still employed, the spokesperson said.

Until now, Delta has allowed employees to wear uniform pins representing other countries and nationalities. The new policy starting Monday to prohibit the wearing of flag pins for countries other than the U.S., according to Durrant, "help[s] ensure a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for all."

The comments deleted on X have led many to condemn Delta online, with some calling the comments anti-Palestinian and proposing a boycott of the airline.

In a letter Thursday to Delta CEO Ed Bastian , the steering committee for a group of flight attendants that's been leading an effort to unionize harshly criticized the company for the deleted comments.

"The [committee] underscores that these incidents reflect a repeated failure by Delta management to stand up for flight attendants," the letter said.

The letter went on to describe the deleted posts as "bigoted and inflammatory," and said they "represent our airline to the world," whether or not airline officials approved of them. The group demanded a public apology from Delta, better moderating of its social media, and a ban on non-consensual photographs of crew members.

Before the airline responded, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) called on Delta to apologize for the deleted comments.

"Whether this racist post on Delta's X account was approved or unauthorized, Delta must apologize and take steps to educate its employees about this type of dangerous anti-Palestinian racism," CAIR said in a news release. Delta posted its public apology for the deleted posts Thursday afternoon on X, which CAIR later said it welcomed .

Correction: This story has been updated to reflect that the group of flight attendants that released a letter to Delta's CEO is not a union, but a group that has been leading an effort to unionize.

The most boats ever will compete in the 100th Bayview Yacht Club race to Mackinac Island

Billed on its website as the “world’s longest continuously run long-distance freshwater yacht race,” the 100th Bayview Mackinac Race is set to start Saturday.

A record-setting 334 boats have registered for the 100th year of the race, shattering the record of 316 in 1985 and a huge contrast compared with the 200 boats that raced last year, said David Stoyka, spokesman for the Bayview Yacht Club, which puts on the race.

Bayview Yacht Club says boats start leaving the Black River in Port Huron around 8 a.m. on race day and will continue leaving until around noon. From the Black River, they will proceed up the St. Clair River, under the Blue Water Bridge, into Lake Huron.

The first scheduled start time in Lake Huron is 11:30 a.m., with starts every 10 minutes until approximately 1:30 p.m. The starts may be delayed due to weather conditions.

This year, for the 100th running, the race will follow the original 1925 route and span 204 nautical miles. From the starting point, the boats will head north along the Michigan shoreline, passing south of Bois Blanc Island, sailing west to east at the finish line between Round Island and Mackinac Island, organizers said.

The range of boats are expected to finish in between 30 and 60 hours.

The sailors

Teams at all skill levels have entered the race, which draws competitors from around the world.  The highly skilled racers know they will cross the bow of competitors within inches. Still, there's always risk of a crash with the slightest miscalculation.

"Everybody recognizes this is super intense," said champion sailor  Tim Prophit , 65, of St. Clair Shores, past commodore of Bayview Yacht Club and owner of Fast Tango, a North American 40 sailboat.

The teams are vying for trophies and flags to show their accomplishments.

The J.L. Hudson Trophy is awarded to the boat with the best corrected time in Division I, and the Canadian Club Classic Trophy is awarded to the boat with the best corrected time in Division II.

How can spectators follow the race?

Spectators can go to bycmack.com during the race and click on “RaceTracking” link to watch real-time GPS positioning of all the race boats, or, on your mobile device, download the free app YB Races and select the current race.

Boats will start arriving at Mackinac Island on Sunday afternoon and continue until Monday evening, all dependent upon the wind.

Finishes can be seen from Windermere Point on Mackinac Island at the south end of Main Street.

Sailors who have completed 25 Bayview Mackinac races are called “Old Goats,” according to the club, while those who have completed 50 are called “Grand Rams.”

"Double Goats" are sailors who have completed 25 Bayview Mackinac races and 25 Chicago Yacht Club race to Mackinac races. This year’s Chicago to Mackinac race encountered strong winds in Lake Michigan , snapping some boats’ masts and tossing one sailor overboard. No one was hurt.

Volunteers who have served for 15 years on the Race Committee are honored with the title “Old Forts,” as designated by the Race Committee.
