How To Register ?

First step is easy. Just contact us! As your agent we will collect all necessary documents, process them and place them in your name at Polish Registration Office.

However there are few documents you need to prepare and send to us, namely:

Bill Of Sale Or Invoice

Photo of win (hin/cin) number, copy of your id or registration document of the owning company, if your boat was previously registered - proof of de-registration, choose your home port: gdańsk, gdynia, hel, kołobrzeg, sopot, szczecin, ce certificate / builders certificate, photo of boat nameplate and engine nameplate, engine ce certificate or engine manual (information about power).

In particular cases (especially when there is no CE) we might ask you for additional information. We will also ask you to sign Power of Attorney to act on your behalf.

We will need to prepare sworn translations before placing an application in the registration office. We will forward you the invoice for you to see the costs of those translations.

What is reja 24.

The REJA 24 registration system is an innovative electronic registration system developed by Government of Poland to provide a fast and economical way to register pleasure yachts under 24 metres in hull length.

The Charter of Polish Registered Yachts

To charter a commercial yacht under the Polish flag the vessel must hold a valid Karta Bezpieczeństwa Jachtu Morskiego (Yacht Safety Certificate).

The first step of the certification process is the performance of a technical inspection. For yachts under 15.00 metres in length the inspection is carried out by the Zespół Techniczny Polskiego Związku Żeglarskiego (Offshore Technical Committee of Polish Yachting Association) or for yachts over 15.00 metres in length by the Polski Rejestr Statków (Polish Register of Shipping).

The yacht must then be equipped depending upon vessel length and sailing area as detailed in the relevant merchant shipping legislation. All yachts to be commercially registered must undergo a final Port State Control inspection to confirm compliance with the applicable regulations.

Do I have to choose Port of Registry

In order to register under polish flag you have to choose one of its see ports. Those are as follows:

Polish AIS & MMSI Radio License service

In case you also require an AIS & MMSI Radio Licence including ATIS, MMSI number and call sign, we can provide this for you without any problem.  Radio licences for Polish registered vessels are issued by the Office of Electronic Communications (Urząd Komunikacji Elektronicznej). Radiolicences are valid for ten years.

Note that a Polish registered vessel must hold a Polish radio licence as opposed to a radio licence issued by any other radiolicensing authority – for example a radio licence issued by the UK radiolicensing authority OFCOM is not valid for use on a Polish registered vessel.

What documents are required for a Polish boat registration?

During the online registration process for a Polish boat registration, we require the following documents:

How long does it take to get a Polish boat registration?

Is it required that the owner of the yacht has a European passport?

Do you need a European Union (EU) Private or Commercial Flag Registration that is valid around the world and is available to All Nationalities?

We can provide you with a Polish (EU) flag registration. The registration is valid for the lifetime of the boat and therefore you won't need to renew your paperwork. The whole process is very simple, as you do not need a yacht survey, and can be done in 2-3 days (provisional registration) after you furnish us with the correct documents (permanent registration within 2-3 weeks). You do not have to be a resident or citizen of Poland or even the EU to register under the Polish flag. What paperwork is needed

Most common questions about poland yacht registration, documents required for the pleasure registration of a vessel:.

Can I register my boat in Poland, if I do not live in Poland?

Yes you do not have to be a resident or citizen of Poland or even the EU / EEA to register under Polish flag. Due to a recent change, anybody can register a boat under the Polish flag and hold the boat under their personal name. Example: an Italian or Russian citizen can register their boat under Polish flag and it makes no difference where the boat is located.

Are there any maritime restrictions like in Spain & Italy?

No, when you have your boat registered under Polish flag you have to comply with the Polish legislation and Poland does not restrict your maritime distances like many other countries do.

Can I still get insurance for my boat under Polish flag?

How do I de-register my Dutch ICP registration?

If your boat is built before 16th of June 1998, does not require to have a CE certificate or CE plate.

Do I need any inspections for my commercial yacht with Polish registration?

What boating license is accepted in Polish waters?

Regarding your concern about the boating license, you would need to contact local authorities for this information. Poland accepts any license to operate the boat commercially (if it is stated on the license that is for commercial use) but only in Polish waters. If the boat is outside Polish waters, it will depend on the country where the boat is being used.

What kind of license do I need for my boat?

Yes, you can.

How long does it take to register?

Can I get a Polish Radio Station License for my portable VHF radio?

You can register the following the devices: radio vhf + optional: radar, epirb, transponder and radar. Portable devices like portable VHF radio cannot be registered in Poland as the Polish authorities do not require a MMSI license for portable devices.

Can I use a MMSI number from the UK with my Polish registered yacht?

No, this is not permitted by the OfCom of the UK and not permitted by the Polish authorities. All vessels registered in Poland must have a Polish Ship Radio License to use VHF/DSC and other radio devices.

Once the Polish MMSI license is being issued, is it possible to register a new equipment under the same MMSI number?

Yes, if owner wants to add a new equipment or change address or name of the boat, they will have to follow the same process. Processing time, cost will remain the same. What type of radio operator license is acceptable? Your radio operator license must be approved and issued by the ITU, state administration or RYA.

Legal requirements and documents of Seagoing Yachts and other watercraft of less than 24 m in length flying the Polish flag

• Watercraft Registration Certificate
• Issued under the provisions of the Act of 12 April 2018 on registration of yachts and other watercraft of less than 24 m in length (Journal of Laws of 2020, item 1500)
• Confirms ownership and Polish nationality of watercraft
• Specifies if the yacht is registered as recreational or commercial  ( in the box a6: the abbreviation “JR” means: “recreational yacht”, the abbreviation “JK” means: “commercial yacht” )

Recreational yacht means pleasure craft and may be used for private purpose only. According to Polish law, it is not allowed to use a recreational yacht for any commercial purposes, including bareboat charter and charter with a crew.

The provisions of the Act of 12 April 2018 on registration of yachts and other watercraft of less than 24 m in length do not apply to any passenger ships understood as ships carrying more than 12 passengers on board . Passenger ships have to be registered in register of sea-going vessels (Register of Ships) according to the provisions of the Maritime Code of 18 September 2001 and meet all the requirements for passenger ships.

Registration alone is not sufficient for a yacht to be legally operated. Every yacht needs to meet specific safety and technical requirements specified by polish law, confirmed by an appropriate document, and shall be manned by a properly qualified crew.

• Yacht Safety Certificate

The Yacht Safety Certificate is issued under the provisions of Article 23.1 of the Act of 18 August 2011 on Maritime Safety (Journal of Laws of 2022, item 515) after a safety inspection by the Director of Maritime Office in Gdynia or Maritime Office in Szczecin (depending on the yacht’s port of registry). The Polish Register of Shipping (PRS) is also authorised by the Polish Government to carry out yachts’ inspections and issue Safety Certificates.

The Yacht Safety Certificate is an obligatory requirement for:

• seagoing commercial yachts (irrespective of their size);
• seagoing recreational yachts of more than 15 m in length.

For seagoing recreational yachts of up to 15 m in length the Yacht Safety Certificate is recommended, but not obligatory.

During a safety inspection:

• Class Certificate or another document issued after a technical survey,
• Meeting the conditions for safe navigation of seagoing yachts, depending on their length and sailing area, e.g. equipment required by Regulation of the Minister of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy of 28 February 2012 on the safety of navigation by seagoing yachts .

The Yacht Safety Certificate also specifies minimum safe manning by listing the minimum number of crew and certificates of competency required.

• Class Certificate or document issued after technical survey

The Class Certificate is a document certifying seaworthiness of a seagoing yacht in technical terms. The Yacht, its devices and equipment are subject to technical supervision of their compliance with requirements regarding construction, reconstruction, equipment, repairs and technical inspections.

According to authorisation of the Polish Government, the Class Certificate of seagoing yacht may be issued by a Polish Register of Shipping (PRS), and, in case of yachts of up to 15 m in length, also Polish Yachting Association (PYA) may issue a technical document (Seaworthines Certificate)

• Obligation to notify any changes to the registration authority

The yacht owner is obliged to notify the registration authority - within 30 days - about the change of the yacht owner or the actual condition of the yacht that requires an amendment of data included in the register, in particular, a change of the actual state that requires removal of the yacht from the register.

Register of yachts and other watercraft of less than 24 m in length is kept in Polish language only.

There are no mandatory surveys until 13.99 Meter, from 14 to 23,99 metros we need a survey by a entity accepted by the Polish Registry or a CE certificate.

The new Polish yacht registration explained

Since 1 August 2020 the new Polish maritime law has made the Certificates of Registry issued by the Polish motorboat and sailing association redundant. That is to say until 30 months after the date of issue of the Certificate of Registry.

All Polish yacht registrations are now being processed by any of the 373 appointed government bodies under the auspices of the Ministry of Infrastructure. Certificates issued by the two boating associations therefore have to be reregistered and one can choose to keep the number as issued by the boating associations or have a new registration number issued.

The registration process

The new Polish yacht registration process is more sound, in our opinion, than the previous one.  The fact that photographs of the hull-number are to be submitted, and preferably the engine number to, reduces the chances considerably of fraudulent registrations.

For example we had a registration request for a sailing boat (of a German make) which was just over 3 years old, but were the CIN-number miraculously got lost, due to eroded pivots. You probably do understand that we could not honour this request for registration.

Registering a yacht in Poland goes smoothly, provided all documentation is present and all seven Polish language forms are filled-in properly. Once the request for registration has been submitted, it takes about 7 days for the provisional Certificate of Registry to be issued. Note that this merely confirms that the vessel is in the process of getting registered and is no guarantee that it will get registered.

Polish Certificates of Registry 2.0

Roughly 30 days after submission of the request for registry the Certificate of Registry is issued in the form of a credit-card sized plastic card. Besides that data of the vessel and her owner, there is a hologram in the top right corner and a compass-rose etched in the centre of the card. The compass-rose is visually hardly detectable, unless you hold it against the light in a certain angle.

How they managed to crop so much information on such a sized card I do not know, but the graphic designers doe deserve a compliment. Although I must admit that aging eyes do have a some trouble reading the explanation on the back side of the card. Therefore a more elaborate explanation on what is mentioned or may be mentioned on the card and insight on the interpretation of the mentioned data.

APPLICATION - EXTRACT FROM THE REGISTRATION SYSTEM

If your boat has been registered, you have your Polish registration certificate in hand and you realize that these documents - the provisional certificate and final certificate do not contain all the data -  (for example the details of your place of residence or the owner), you don't have to worry. The maritime and registry administration, as well as the police and all relevant institutions have direct access to the data as well as any changes or updates. This includes the UKE (Office for Electronic Communication), which is responsible for the radio register and civil aviation, which registers radio beacons. The Polish registration system gives you the opportunity to request the extract from the system, in which all data is recorded, including that not included in the certificates. The document is in digital form and written in Polish. If you wish, we can translate it for you. Requesting the extract from the system is not mandatory; it is optional and you can request it at any time.
