Luigi’s Mansion 3: 13F Fitness Center Guide

by enricofairme · Published November 5, 2019 11:01 PM · Updated November 7, 2019 3:49 PM

The 13F of the Last Resort is home to the hotel’s Fitness Center. To reach this floor you need to get the elevator button from Captain Fishook on floor twelve. Once you have the button you can make your way up to the Fitness Center where another elevator button resides. To help you get through this floor use the 13F Fitness Center guide below.

Other Fitness Center Guides:

  • All locations of the Floor 13F Gems .
  • Got all mice in the fitness center locker room achievement .

Explore the Fitness Center

Inside the Elevator Hall walk along the left side of the room and the phone will ring. Pick up the phone to learn that Channel 3 has perfect music for the Training Room. Continue to the left and enter to door to reach the Gym Lobby.

In the Gym Lobby go through the door on the left to find out it is locked. After you check the door a ball will hit the window. Go over and look to see the boss ghost of this area. After the cutscene ghosts will appear. Defeat them all to get the key to the locked door. Go through the locked door to the Locker Room.

Locker Room

Upon entering the Locker Room you will trigger a fight with a yellow ghost. This ghost hides inside lockers. To reveal the ghost Plunger the locker it is inside. Defeat the yellow ghost and continue to the left. Enter the door here to reach the Weight Room.

Weight Room

Inside the Weight Room you will come face to face with two enemy ghosts. One ghost is wearing boxing gloves while the other is curling plates. To defeat these ghosts you need to get the ghost curling plates to throw the plate at the boxing glove ghosts. This happens when you run through the middle of the room (there’s an impact crater there). Once you do this flash the ghost and suck it up. Repeat until dead then take out the other ghosts that will drop its plate. Head to the left and enter the Training Room.

Training Room

In the Training Room go to the door at the top of the room and interact with it. It is locked. To get the key you need to use the exercise equipment. To do the bikes use your vacuum, and the treadmills you can get on and run. The goal is to reach 4 green squares. Once you reach 4 green squares the equipment opens. Out of one of them you will get a key. Use the key to open the door to the Yoga Room.

Inside the Yoga Room there is a full length mirror on the far wall. This reflection in this mirror shows you the layout of the mats in the room. Once you’ve done the proper layout the wall will open. Go through the wall out to the exterior of the Fitness Center. Walk over to the chest to get the key. Return to the Yoga Room and go to head into the next room. Defeat the ghosts that appear using their reflections to find their locations. Head through the door into the Shower Room.

Shower Room

In the Shower Room you will see a number of ghosts taking showers. This causes the room to be steamy which makes your flashlight useless. You need to turn the showers off with your vacuum on the handles to fight the ghosts. Once you’ve defeated the ghosts head to the right into the Pool (boss fight time).

How to Defeat Johnny Deepend

In the Pool Room you will come face to face with the boss of this floor called Johnny Deepen. To beat this boss you need to get Gooigi over to the valve on the other side of the room. Once the valve is open the pool will drain. This allows you to go into the pool via the ladder and fight the boss.

To get Gooigi over to the valve you need to utilize the balls in the pool. Shoot them at the boss when his chest appears. This stuns him. Switch to Gooigi and make your way over to the valve while the boss is stunned. Repeat until the valve is closed. Once you are in the pool you need to take the sunglasses off the boss by hitting him with a ball and then vacuuming off the glasses. After you’ve done this the boss is susceptible to flash and vacuum.

Upon defeat of the boss you will receive the Elevator Button 14. Make your way back to the elevator and go to insert it. This triggers another Polterkitty encounter . Grab the button back from the kitty.

Fitness Center

This portion of the Luigi's Mansion 3 guide covers the Fitness Center walkthrough including all the fitness center gems and how to beat the swimmer boss who keeps tossing volleyballs at you. Here, you'll also find answers to the yoga mat puzzle, the shower puzzle, the exercise machines puzzle, and more.

In general, the Fitness Center is brimming with secrets so be sure to shine your Dark Light on everything and ignore the broken drinking fountains. They won't yield anything no matter how many times you flash your light.

Below are the walkthrough sections and objectives. Please note we may have added a few objectives ourselves to indicate the steps you need to take to complete the main objective.

Fitness Center Walkthrough

Explore the fitness center, exercise machine room puzzle, yoga mat puzzle.

  • Shower puzzle

How to Beat the Swimmer Boss

Install the button in the elevator, follow polterkitty and get the button, fitness center gems.

You can collect all the Fitness Center Gems on your first visit. All gem locations will be written in a blue box so scroll through for them to see what you're missing or scroll past them if you'd rather discover the answer to those puzzles yourself.

Head to the 13F and exit the elevator.

Fitness Center Gem #6

Luigis-mansion-3-fitness-center-6-720x405.jpg

Stand on the center of the floor, on top of the image of the dumbbell. Make sure both Luigi and Gooigi are standing on it. This will open up the glass case. Then vacuum the gem out. At first, you'll just grab the gem on the trophy stand but shoot it anywhere to free the gem itself.

Continue left into the gym lobby.

Get the gold key in the gym lobby

Luigis-mansion-3-fitness-center-bell-720x405.jpg

Shine the dark light on the front desk (particularly the front, right corner of it) to reveal a bell. Ring the bell. Ring it several times and a swimmer ghost will throw a volleyball at the window, causing a few other ghosts to appear. After the ghosts are all captured a golden key will appear. (Note: in our playthrough, we rang the bell a few times and then tried to leave through the door on the left before the swimmer tossed the ball. We don't think you need to do this but if you're having trouble triggering the ghost, try it).

Fitness Center Gem #1

Luigis-mansion-3-fitness-center-1-720x405.jpg

If you ring the bell enough times a ghost with a gem inside it will appear. This may only occur after the initial encounter with several ghosts.Continue to the left, into the locker room.

Deal with the ghosts in the locker room. You can suction shot and smash the lockers to find them if they don't appear on their own.

Fitness Center Gem #3

Luigis-mansion-3-fitness-center-gem-3-720x405.jpg

Before leaving the locker room vacuum the swimming sign on the right wall and notice how it moves around. Vacuum up a ball and shoot it at the swimming sign to reveal a blue gem.

How to beat the boxing glove ghost (hammer)

In the next room, there will be 2 Hammers (big red ghosts). One will be boxing, the other will be throwing a large weight onto the floor. Lure the boxing hammer so that it's standing in the center, where the weights land.

Luigis-mansion-3-fitness-center-ghosts-720x405.jpg

Do this by running directly over the spot where the weight drops in the hopes that Hammer will follow you. Once Hammer is in position you can stun it with the Strobulb to keep him in place but remember, the weight won't be thrown if Hammer is standing still. If you are in trouble you can push Hammer back for a second by using the Burst move.

Fitness Center Gem #2

Luigis-mansion-3-fitness-center-gem-2-720x405.jpg

Move to the left and towards the camera/player. This will allow you to walk up the stairs you may not have noticed before. Then walk to the right have Gooigi stand on the scale and look at the mirror and see what you notice. The wall in front of the weight machine opens up, revealing a gem for you to vacuum up.

Continue to the room on the left, i.e the Training Room.

Luigis-mansion-3-fitness-center-gem-5-720x405.jpg

To get the gold key walk up to the treadmills and interact with one of them. Once it's on, run on it until all the lights glow. Repeat this on all the treadmills and a gold key will pop out of the last one you run on.

Fitness Center Gem #5

Luigis-mansion-3-fitness-center-gem-51-720x405.jpg

Use your Strobulb to flash the blinking light of the radio until the lighting in the room gets all dark and spooky. Then shine your Dark Light on the treadmills, specifically the middle one, to reveal a ghost with a gem inside (and 2 golden ghosts). Capture the gem ghost to get your next collectible.

Continue through the next door and into the yoga room.

In this room, you'll want to pay attention to what's in the mirror. You can move the mirror with your poltergust. Your goal is to make the yoga mats resemble the posters. Below is the solution:

Left to right front row: rolled, open, open.

Left to right back row: open, open, rolled.

Luigis-mansion-3-fitness-center-yoga-720x405.jpg

This will cause a panel to open up, take the opening on the left. Once outside, continue left to open the treasure chest and get the next golden key.

Return to the yoga room, you'll have some ghosts to fight but key an eye on the mirror for an idea of where they may be hiding. When the room is clear, take the door on the right to the shower room.

Shower room puzzle

Go into each shower, as Luigi, and use the poltergust to turn off the water. This will clear the steam and let you capture the ghosts.

Fitness Center Gem #4

Luigis-mansion-3-fitness-center-gem-4-720x405.jpg

Have Gooigi go down the large drain in the middle of the shower room floor. Once he's down there have him use the poltergust on the valve to move the arrow all the way to the left, getting rid of the water. Once the water's gone he can walk to the right, through the cage, and to the next gem.

Luigis-mansion-3-fitness-center-swimmer-1-720x405.jpg

You can't attack the swimmer boss while he's in the water so your first step is to get him out of the water. This fight is a bit harder alone but it's totally manageable. This guide is written for those playing alone so if you can do it faster with two, by all means.

Drain the pool

Stay in front of the swimmer as Luigi. Be sure to dodge any volleyballs he throws at you. Vacuum up one of those volleyballs and shoot it at him to stun him.

While he's stunned have Gooigi run along the sides. His goal is to reach the valve but if he gets hit with water, he dissolves so make sure to stand behind cover such as the board on the right/left and the pillars in the back.

Luigis-mansion-3-fitness-center-swimmer-2-720x405.jpg

Have Gooigi wait safely behind one of the pillars. As Luigi, stun the swimmer again and while he's down, have Gooigi vacuum the valve to move the arrow all the way to the left, draining the pool.

Luigis-mansion-3-fitness-center-Swimmer-3-720x405.jpg

Now that the pool is drained vacuum up the ghost. You'll need to first vacuum his swimming goggles off his face. Hit him with a volleyball then get up close to vacuum the goggles off. Once they're off, stun and capture him.

Pick up the elevator button and head back to the elevator to install it. You'll be stopped by a Trapper ghost. Have the untrapped player stun the ghost. Then together, have Luigi and Gooigi each grab one of his tongues and slam him into oblivion.

Luigis-mansion-3-fitness-center-polterkitty-1-720x405.jpg

After installing the button, the cat will run off with it again.

Below are the locations of Polterkitty, in order. Below that are tips on how to capture Polterkitty if you need a refresher.

  • Gym lobby - Fitness Center 13F: First, find it in the shower room basket. Then, follow it into the weight room. It is hiding in the punching bag. Suck up a boxing glove and shoot it at the punching bag. Defeat the ghosts it summons and follow it to the gym lobby. Hit it with the Strobulb when it drops/dangles upside down to engage.

Luigis-mansion-3-fitness-center-polterkitty-2-720x405.jpg

  • Beach - The Spectral Catch 12F: Vacuum the sand to the right of the bridge on the beach and flash it with the strobulb to engage.

Luigis-mansion-3-fitness-center-polterkitty-3-720x405.jpg

  • Lounge i.e big stage - Twisted Suites 11F: Head to the lounge. In the room wiht the hats, use the dark ligh tto find the hat the cat is under. Burst move. Follow it into the lounge. Burst move the cabinet to get access to the stairs. Have both Luigi and Gooigi suction shot/pull open the case on stage, and flash it with the strobulb to begin.

Luigis-mansion-3-fitness-center-polterkity-4-720x405.jpg

How to Capture the Polterkitty

Actually capturing/attacking this ghost cat is tricky! Here’s how to take on Polterkitty and emerge victoriously. Wait with your back towards Polterkitty. It will slowly creep towards you (so to save time don’t stand TOO far away). Once it covers its eyes, turn and charge up your Strobulb (hold down A).

Luigis-mansion-3-fitness-center-Polterkitty-5-720x405.jpg

When it uncovers its eyes, flash it with the Stobulb and then vacuum it up like any other ghost. It’s all about patience! If you turn before the cat has covered its eyes, the Polterkitty will run away.

Luigis-mansion-3-fitness-center-button-720x405.jpg

Finally, install the button in the elevator and continue to The Dance Hall 14F.

Regular Ghosts [ edit ]

Gold ghost [ edit ].

LM Gold Ghost.jpg

Though orange in colour, these ghosts known as Gold Ghosts are the first ghosts Luigi meets in the game, and among the weakest. They have a maximum of 10hp. They attack by sneaking up on Luigi and punching. Sometimes, these ghosts appear with hearts of fire, in which case the fire must be quenched with some Water. These fiery Gold Ghosts are called Temper Terrors.

Purple Puncher [ edit ]

how to beat the ghosts in the gym luigis mansion

Purple Punchers, as the name suggests, attack Luigi by punching him. Their punches are stronger than those of the Gold Ghosts, causing 10hp damage with each hit. They have 20hp. These ghosts may appear with frozen hearts, and their hearts must be melted before the ghosts can be captured.

Blue Twirler [ edit ]

LM Blue Twirler.jpg

Blue Twirlers have 30hp, and attack by pounding the ground heavily, causing shockwaves that cause Luigi 10hp damage if they hit him. Some of these ghosts have hearts doused in water, and must be frozen to become vulnerable. These watery Blue Twirlers are called Blue Blazes.

Garbage Can Ghost [ edit ]

how to beat the ghosts in the gym luigis mansion

Garbage Can Ghosts do not attack Luigi directly. Instead, they appear, eat a banana, and throw the skin on the ground, disappearing soon after. This makes it more difficult to catch them, since Luigi must avoid the banana skins while trying to catch them. They have the highest HP of any regular ghost, with 40hp.

Grabbing Ghost [ edit ]

how to beat the ghosts in the gym luigis mansion

Ceiling Surprise [ edit ]

how to beat the ghosts in the gym luigis mansion

Ceiling Surprises hang from the ceiling, trying to scare Luigi. They have 0 HP, and so are defeated instantly if Luigi turns the Poltergust on them. A sub-species called Purple Bombers act similarly, but can attack by dropping bombs on Luigi. If either version of this ghost is sucked up by Luigi, it will then drop a free heart. Both are usually found together in corridors, although they have been known to pop up in areas like the Courtyard and Sealed Room .

Shy-Guy [ edit ]

LM Shy Guy.jpg

Shy-Guys are ghosts whose main feature are the masks that shield their hearts from Luigi's flashlight. If Luigi wishes to catch a Shy-Guy ghost, he must first remove their masks to reveal their 20hp hearts. Shy-Guys often appear in pairs. They will only attack if their masks are removed or if their partner is sucked up, and attack by trying to pierce Luigi with a spear.

Speedy Spirit [ edit ]

LM Speedy Spirit.jpg

Speedy Spirits are similar to Gold Ghosts, in that they have the same amount of health, and similar appearance, but with a light blue colour rather than orange. They do not attack Luigi, but instead fly away from him at a rapid speed. They only appear in fifteen locations throughout the game, and are therefore very valuable, but you only have one chance to catch it if you find one. They give out large amounts of cash when caught. If you miss one, you may get another chance to catch it during the blackout, but this isn't guaranteed to happen.

The Boos [ edit ]

LM Boos.jpg

A total of fifty Boos appear throughout the game, after they have been released from the Storage Room . They have varying amounts of HP, and only appear in rooms after the lights have been turned on. 35 Boos appear in rooms throughout the Mansion, and the remaining 15 form the Boss of Area 3, Boolossus . Luigi must catch 40 Boos (45 in the PAL Hidden Mansion) before he can face the final boss .

Skeleton Ghost [ edit ]

how to beat the ghosts in the gym luigis mansion

Skeleton Ghosts have 30hp. They attack Luigi by throwing bones at him. After throwing a bone at him, they will collapse, drift away to another location, and reform themselves. During the rebuilding process, they become vulnerable to Luigi's flashlight.

Minor ghosts [ edit ]

  • Mice and Bats: These appear mainly in corridors. They do not attack, and only cause damage if Luigi walks into them.
  • Gold Mice: Similarly to Speedy Spirits, these reward Luigi with cash if caught. They appear if Luigi scans wedges of cheese in certain rooms.
  • Bowler Ghosts: These often appear in corridors alongside Ceiling Surprises. They attack by throwing a bowling ball at Luigi.
  • Waiters: Two of these appear in the Dining Room . They have 10hp, and their only purpose in the afterlife is to replenish Mr. Luggs' meal.
  • Flying Fish: These ghosts are small and come in many colors. They don't have health, but they fly around Luigi and try to hit him. They tend to hang out in areas or rooms with water.
  • Spark: Spiky, explosive ghosts that appear in awkward locations in corridors. They explode if touched, causing 10hp damage. Can be quenched with Water, although they regenerate quickly.

When Luigi enters the Rec Room, he sees the ghostly bodybuilder Biff Atlas working out. Luigi can ignore Biff or fight him for more treasure. Smacking Biff with a nearby punching bag, Luigi managed to goad him into attacking. Hitting Biff a few more times with nearby punching bags caused the overly muscled ghost to pass out and expose his heart, allowing Luigi to attack and suck Biff up the Poltergust 3000 .

Appearance [ ]

The Rec Room is filled with exercise equipment such as a treadmill, weights, the above-mentioned punching bags, and several other fitness machines. If Luigi runs on the treadmill for a bit, it will spit out a key to unlock a door connecting the third and second areas. A Speedy Spirit hides in the fitness machine with the ladder attached to it. Luigi's Mansion 3 How to Kill Big Red Box-Shaped Ghost

Home » Luigi's Mansion 3 » Luigi’s Mansion 3 How to Kill Big Red Box-Shaped Ghost

Red box-shaped ghost is one of the bosses in Luigi’s Mansion 3. You’ll encounter him at the escalator, after you get he star key from the barber shop. He’s going to activate a sprinkler and melt Gooigi, and when you start going up the escalator, he’ll show up and try to stop you. You’ll have to fight him in a tiny arena, and he has a lot of health, however, it’s not a particularly hard fight if you know what to do. This guide is going to show you how to defeat big red box-shaped ghost in Luigi’s Mansion 3 .

luigi's mansion 3 how to kill big red box shaped ghost

How to beat red ghost at the escalator?

Try to stay in the middle of the arena at all times. This ghost has an attack during which he rises up then slams the ground, releasing a shockwave the damages everything it touches. You want to stay in the middle, so you have enough space to escape the shockwave when it appears.

As for defeating it, you will have to use the Strobulb first. Blind the ghost with your flashlight, and he’ll stay stunned for a few seconds. While he’s out, use the vacuum to damage him. E.Gadd says it’s best to circle him while doing so, but we didn’t see any benefit to that. Just blind him, then start sucking.

When you’ve done enough damage, you’ll get the chance to slam him into the ground several times. Keep your eyes peeled – when a prompt to press A appears, keep pressing it as long as it’s there. This will take away a big chunk of his health. You’ll have to repeat the whole process at least once more, but if you get your timings right, he’ll stay stunned from the first time you Strobulb him in the face.

The real name of the ghost is “Hammer” and it is not a boss, as it is located in the “Ghosts” section of the gallery, not the “Boss Ghosts” section.

Stun, the move to rear while stunned, then suck/slam. Must faster than stun/sucking alone.

Going around him does help because you can suck its tail and then you are able to slam him around

took a while but got it.

The Maid (5F RIP Suites)

The tidy maid steals the Professor’s important trunk! She’ll run all over the floor, so you’ll need to use the Dark-Light to follow her. When she runs, use the Dark-Light on the door to see which direction she went, then use the Dark-Light on the hotel room doors to find where she went. A silhouette will appear on the door she’s inside. Otherwise, defeat her just like any other ghost.

The Security Guard (3F Shops)

Inside the Security Office, you’ll have to defeat the clumsy guard armed with a squirt gun. You’ll have to enter his room through a metal grate with Gooigi, so watch out for the water!

Use Smash to knock his sunglasses off, then use the Strobulb to stun and smash him. After knocking his glasses off, he’ll unleash a stream of water! Be prepared to retreat or just summon another Gooigi. You can also wait for the Security Guard to tire himself out after a few rolls.

The Chef (2F Mezzanine)

To defeat the whirlwind chef, suck up a pumpkin or melon, then shoot it straight at the chef to knock his protective pan away. You need to use Suction to suck up the melon, then Blow it out! Once the frying pan is out of the chef’s hands, you can flash him with the Strobulb and smash him around the room.

The Pianist (4F Grand Stage)

The powerful Piano Player in the Auditorium is your first true tough fight. First, he’ll throw the entire auditorium’s worth of chairs at you. Just keep running! When he summons a swarm of ghosts, make sure to Slam to remove their masks before using the Strobulb.

The real fight begins when the pianist possesses his grand piano. Dodge his slams — the light will shine where he’s about to land — and wait for him to pop out. When he does, immediately Strobulb him or he’ll generate a shockwave. Use the Slam to bounce over it!

To actually hurt the pianist, dodge his attacks until he shoots out bombs. Look for the bombs that aren’t flashing, use Suction to grab them, then target his open piano and Blow them back at the boss. After the explosion, use a Suction Shot to pull the piano and slam it.

After three slams, the piano will be destroyed. When the ghost boss is outside the piano, just use a Strobulb flash to stun him and then Ghost Slam him to bring his energy down. If you need to heal during the fight, use Suction Shot on the trophies lining the auditorium and pull them down. Each one has a heart.

Luigi’s Mansion 3: How to Beat Magician Bosses

Twinfinite Staff Writer

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is the latest Switch exclusive from Next Level Games and it stars the timid hero, Luigi, as he must face dozens of tough bosses in order to save his brother and friends from the ghosts that haunt the hotel. If you’re having trouble defeating the boss on the 11th floor, we’re here to help. Here’s how to beat the magician bosses in Luigi’s Mansion 3.

How to Beat Magician Bosses in Luigi’s Mansion 3

At the beginning of this boss fight, the three magician ghosts will hide underneath three big purple hats. Dodge the playing cards that they throw at you and once they start circling around you, make sure to stand right in the middle of the stage.

When they come really close to you, now is the time to jump in the air with the ZL+ZR buttons and you will stun all three of them. Now, go up to any of the hats and then use your vacuum to suck the ghost out of the hat.

Now you’ll be able to deal damage and get rid of one of the three ghosts.

Now, the ghosts will continue to do the same attack as before but when they’re spinning around you, the lights will shut on and off, making it more difficult to track the ghosts that are in the hat.

You just need to memorize which ghost is in which hat and once you know for sure, make sure to suck that one up once you stun them by jumping in the middle of the ring when they close again.

Just rinse and repeat and this fight should be over before you know it. Compared to some of the other bosses in the game, this one’s one of the easier fights.

Time needed:  4 minutes.
