Alea is a 56 meter sloop design by Mani Frers. Her interior was penned by ‘M2Atelier’ design office in Milan. Alea has a large ensuite owner’s cabin forward. The guest cabins are located to starboard aft while the crew occupies the port side aft. The huge lazarette, that houses a 7 meter tender,can easily be converted into a proper beach club.
Her rig is sized to panamax so Alea clears the Bridge of the America’s over the Panama Canal.

Vitters 56m Sailing Yacht ‘ALEA’ Emerges After Two-Year Build

Following a two-year build, the 56m Vitters sailing yacht, Alea (formerly Project 3083), has emerged from the Dutch shipyard.
Mani Frers developed the sloop-rigged sailing yacht, which is made of aluminium and has an inverted bow and flush deck. With a lifting keel, the draught drops from 6.6 metres to under 3.5 metres for exploring shallow ports and harbours. At the helm, two carbon rudders allow for fingertip steering.
With gear supplied by Southern Spars New Zealand, a single carbon mast will stand 55.32 metres tall once completed. A 682 square metre mainsail and a 484 square metre blade headsail will be among her sails.
The yacht, which features a modern design by M2 Atelier, includes all expected luxuries internally. These include an owner’s suite located in the bow and four spacious guest cabins aft.
Other notable features include retractable V-Bollards on deck and three V-Drums below deck. Additionally, there is a subsurface Anchor system that keeps the bow and foredeck free of anchor operations.
The 56m Alea yacht has the capacity for a beach club and can carry two tenders, one beneath a hatch on the foredeck and one 8.5 metre tender in the lazarette. The yacht will be launched this week on Friday and will be delivered to her owner in time for the summer.

Vitters’ launches 56m, Alea
after two years project 3083, alea has officially left the shipyard in netherlands….
Alea has been in-build for just over two years at the Vitters Shipyard , the 56m yacht is designed by Mani Frers while the interior is designed by M2Atelier.
The accommodation is split between the owner’s en-suite stateroom in the bow and four generous guest cabins in the aft ship. The wide beam of the yacht allows for a large aft deck and beach club. Two tenders will be carried on board, one under the tender hatch at the bow and one 8.5m in the stern garage.
Vitters wanted to and became successful in separating Alea from its competitors with the retractable V-Bollards which complete the flush deck aesthetics. The three V-Drums down below in the forepeak make headsail changes easy and finally the submarine anchor system keeps the bow and foredeck aesthetically cleans as well as proving to be practical.
Alea is the first project that has been successfully delivered since 2021, on average the shipyard has delivered on yacht per year, however as stating on the above graph they failed to deliver any superyacht projects in 2018, 2019 and 2021. Vitters have scheduled projects for the next two years.
The yacht is set to be launched on Friday 20th May 2022 and will then be handed to the owner just before summer.

Dutch shipyard Vitters has launched its 56m/184ft luxury sailing yacht ALEA , known during construction as PROJECT 3083.

The vessel was towed from the shipyard facilities in Zwartsluis to Harlingen, where she is better positioned to head out into the North Sea for her sea trials ahead of delivery.
The exterior styling encompasses a sleek dark hull with an inverse bow and low coach roof for a modern, athletic appearance from Mani Frers . The interiors by M2Atelier cover a lounge and formal dining area in addition to five guest staterooms, a Master Suite and a crew area. The aforementioned guest accommodation is placed in the stern, while the Master suite is in the bow for greater privacy. Other features include an aft deck beach club and two large tender garages aboard this 320 GT vessel.

At 56m/184ft, sailing yacht ALEA is currently the second largest sailing yacht produced by Vitters (66m/217ft sailing yacht ANATTA being the first largest), however, S/Y ALEA is set to slip down to a third place, with the launch of 59m/ PROJECT 3090, which is due for launch in 2023.

Vitters Shipyard shows off its 56m Frers Design Alea
ZWARTSLUIS – Halcyon days for Vitters Shipyard! The Dutch builder of performance sailing yachts has unveiled Alea, a 56m (184ft) craft that took two years to build and boasts a mainsail that dwarfs the size of an NBA basketball court.
The massive aluminum-hulled yacht was carefully freed from a giant build hall and placed onto a pontoon for transport to the North Sea port of Harlingen. There, the 64m (209ft) carbon mast made by Southern Spars of New Zealand will be installed, followed by sea trials. The Frers Design sailing yacht has an interior by M2Atelier.
Project 3083 ticks all boxes of Vitters’ innovations. They include retractable V-Bollards for complete flush-deck aesthetics. The forepeak holds three V-Drums that make headsail changes easy and a very practical “submarine Anchor system that keeps the bow and foredeck aesthetically clean.”
The yacht’s wide beam creates a large aft deck and beach club. The yacht carries two tenders, one in the bow and an 8.5m tender (28ft) in the stern garage.
With Alea out of the way, Vitters will continue finishing a 59m (194ft) aluminum hull that must first be turned. That classically lined yacht is scheduled to leave the shipyard in mid-2023. As soon as the hull hall is empty, Vitters says it will start building a modern, 44m (144ft) sailing yacht whose delivery is scheduled for summer 2024.
The specs of that 56m sloop-rigged yacht on that pontoon are impressive: Alea’s lifting keel provides a draft of up to 6.6m (22ft); a ballasted keel weighing 41 tons; fuel tanks that can hold some 5,000 gallons, and a mainsail of 682 sq. m. How big is that? A regulation NBA court is only 420 sq. m.
To date, Vitters Shipyard has built some 40 award-winning high-end, performance sailing yachts. It excels in equipping them with high-tech gear that takes the groaning out of sailing.

Alea was conceived to sail around the world in comfort and ease at high average speeds. Open spaces and privacy were paramount together with a fresh design approach using proven technology.
A reverse bow gives the yacht a distinctive dynamic look. The resulting long waterline length allows to create a powerful slippery hullform which sails at low heel angles with a panamax rig averaging speeds above 15 knots.
We wanted to maintain 360 degrees views in all common living areas including the helm stations and aft cockpit hence the deck structure is recessed enhancing the yacht sleek looks. The metallic colour fits with her clean lines and brings out the shape essence. Every detail was designed and engineered to create a homogenous feeling of simplicity.
A huge beach club completes the deck layout at anchor. When under sail this volume contains an 8m long tender to explore the surroundings and support sport activities.
The General Arrangement show the interior and exterior salon in one level in the centre of the yacht. The natural light, protection and views makes this area a ‘feel good’ space at any time of day or night. Further forward a movie area and interior dining area a few steps below lead to the large owner’s area comprising the whole bow forward of the mast. This area includes office space and a spare cabin for long passages. Behind the salon, separate stairs provide access to the guest area on starboard and crew area on port.
Her quick acceleration under sail combined with ease of movement along the various zones together with the quiet operation and long-range capability transmits a desire for endless sailing!
