A Variety of Ways to Spend Time

Guests are spoilt for choice when it comes to ways to spend their time on Lady Lara. The long list of amenities has something for everyone - from relaxation in the dedicated spa area, fitness in the gym, socialising around the teppanyaki grill on the sun deck to having a cosy night in the onboard cinema not to mention taking a refreshing dip in one of the two large pools. By day the main deck pool is the perfect place to cool off and refresh, by night the floor transforms to a dancefloor while the bespoke music system takes care of the soundtrack.

Wellness Never Looked So Good

On the bridge deck, there is a wellness area devoted to relaxation and pampering, featuring a beauty salon, a spa-treatment room, a massage room, a gym and a hammam.

Privacy & Seclusion

The Owner’s deck offers seamless indoor/outdoor dining with a glass enclosure creating a unique setting that becomes part of the interior space. The large private terrace is directly accessible from the Owner's suite, with a Jacuzzi and forward of this is a touch and go helipad, offering extended exploration.

Having benefitted from consistent investment since her launch, Lady Lara is in turnkey condition. A 15 million Euro refit took place during the winter of 2022/23 which involved a full paint job, IT and security system upgrades, new carpets, interior updates and a refit to the tenders in addition to maintenance works, tank coating replacement and a navigation system upgrade. Unlike other yachts in the same size category, Lady Lara is ready to go.

Billionaire Laurene Powell Jobs ’ super-yacht, the Venus , was in a minor crash with another mega-vessel, the Lady Moura, owned by Mexican billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego , we hear.

The accident between the big ol’ boats — both reportedly worth upwards of $120 million each — happened on July 22nd in Italy.

A source familiar with the situation told Page Six that both yachts were actually anchored when the incident occurred.

Said our seaworthy source: “The Venus came into contact with the Lady Moura — which was also anchored,” adding that on Jobs’ boat, “No family was on board, only crew.”

The insider said the accident happened when, “The wind changed very suddenly, picking up from a breeze to 55 knots over the course of a few minutes.”

The source said, “Neither boat ‘dragged anchor,’” but alleged that the Lady Moura was, “on a chain double the length [to be] expected in the depth of water they were in… Both captains were in discussion immediately following the incident about minor repairs needed.”

According to the site Boat International, Pliego’s side recorded the incident, and there’s video of the nautical fender-bender on Instagram.

The outlet reported that the billionaire could be heard saying in Spanish, “I would like to know what the captain and crew were doing that they didn’t see a yacht the size of mine in front of me. Good thing nothing but a scratch happened, but it’s a big scratch that’s going to [cost] a lot to fix.”

The 256-foot Venus was custom created for Steve Jobs, and designed by Philippe Starck. But the late Apple founder never got a chance to use the boat before his 2011 death and it went to his widow.

At 344 feet, the Lady Moura was previously owned by a Saudi businessman and cost $200 million before it was reportedly bought for $125 million by Pliego, the third richest person in Mexico.

Update: representative of 105m Lady Moura releases statement following collision with Steve Jobs' yacht

A representative for the owner of the 104.6-metre Lady Moura has released a statement explaining the events that led to the collision between the yacht and the 78.2-metre Feadship superyacht Venus last month (22 July).

The statement read: " Lady Moura anchored in the Bay of Naples at a depth of 40 metres with seven shackles of chain deployed, which is the minimum required for safe anchoring under the given conditions. Several hours later, Venus arrived at the anchorage and seemingly misjudged the length of the chain that Lady Moura had in the water."

The statement continued: "Subsequently, a violent squall with winds of 50-55 knots from an unexpected direction – different from the prevailing forecasts – caused the impact. Despite numerous efforts by Lady Moura 's crew to alert the Venus ’ crew by blowing the whistle and hailing on the radio, it appears that the bridge of the Venus was unmanned. Neither vessel dragged anchor."

It then concluded that damages to both yachts were minimal and cosmetic and that the situation was "amicably and professionally" resolved.

This follows an update provided by a "source close to the matter" last week (7 August) which confirmed that a sudden change of wind led to the collision. It added that "the wind changed very suddenly, picking up from a breeze to 55 knots over the course of a few minutes. Neither boat dragged anchor, though the other boat [ Lady Moura ] was on a chain double the length expected in the depth of water they were in."

Footage of the incident taken by Ricardo Salinas - Mexican businessman and Lady Moura 's owner – shows the incident take place. The video was released by Salinas on 7 August.

In the video's caption, Salinas has claimed that the crew of Venus were at fault, saying in Spanish: "I would like to know what the captain and crew were doing that they didn't see a yacht the size of mine in front of me. Good thing nothing but a scratch happened, but it's a big scratch that's going to [cost] a lot to fix."

Lady Moura was launched in 1990 and sold most recently in 2021, with a last known asking price of $125,000,000.

Venus was commissioned by Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, though he never had the chance to see the yacht completed before his untimely death in 2011. She was delivered to widow Laurene Powell Jobs in 2012 and has been used privately ever since.
